    Lettuce wraps
    LaRena F.

Haven't been here in years. However, I noticed on Google Maps that the reviews were looking up. I was so beyond happy to see that it had improved in rating since the last time I was here. We ordered takeout. We got the Dinner Combination plates which come with soup or salad, egg roll, won tons, choice of rice, and choice of a main course. We choose three Combination dinners. They were sweet & sour pork, chicken chow mein, and mild General Chicken with fried rice. We also had an order of lettuce-wrapped chicken. Then we just shared it all. I have never had sweet and sour pork without veggies before. I would have liked to see some onion or bell pepper. However, the flavor was really good. The general chicken, and chow mein were both tasty. Of course, my favorite was the lettuce wraps with hoisin sauce. I think they make the best lettuce wraps in town. We will definitely be back. The food was not quite what we remember when it was at its top. But it has come up in rank. This restaurant deserves a second chance. So if you are like me and used to love this place. I highly suggest giving it another shot.

Service was better this time around and will say it has improved in the past few years. Dined in 2/14/23, I met my hubby for a quick lunch and I was craving a spicy General's chicken or Mongolian beef. This place does it right! Ambience is a bit dated, but I think it's part of this restaurants charm. They offer sushi too and that's a plus for our older kids because they won't eat Chinese with us when we come in. Dim Sum and boba is also available, but select days and times and quantity was an issue we came across last visit. Do check out their lunch specials if you're dining during the week. If you're looking for an Authentic Chinese plate in Sparks area; look no further.

Beef & Broccoli and sesame beef.

This place is a ripoff!!! Their orders don't even come with simple necessities like rice. What Chinese sushi place doesn't come with rice with normal entrees?!?!? We paid $70 for just beef & broccoli, a sushi roll and sesame beef. I can't believe nothing came with not even a small side of rice. Called them to see if they would do anything. But no accommodation. Never going back here again. What a rip off.

One thing we noticed right away was that the bonchon was already set on the tables before guests arrived. It wasn't a large spread--just a small tin of cheese corn and a divided tray with kimchi, bean sprouts, and fish cake--not sure how long they were left out and did look and taste dry. The servers seemed to work well together. Different team members checked on us, cleared dishes, served food, and helped other's tables. Once it got busier, they also used robot servers to help deliver food. We started with the salad with house dressing and the popcorn chicken. Both were good, and the chicken was nice and moist. For the BBQ, we ordered the Chardol, Ju Mul Luck, Hawaiian Steak, Tri-Tip Bulgogi, and Galbi (short ribs). Having eaten at quite a few Korean BBQ restaurants in Las Vegas, we noticed the portions here were a bit smaller. They also limit each round to three appetizers and four meat selections. Overall, the service was good, and we especially appreciated Eurie for being friendly and attentive. The only thing that concerned us was when another server changed our grill. Instead of lightly drizzling oil onto the grill, she forcefully squeezed the bottle, causing the oil to shoot out onto grill. It seemed like an unnecessary safety risk for both guests and employees. Our favorites were definitely the Tri-Tip Bulgogi and the Galbi. Both were flavorful and tender. The Chardol was good, but the slices were very thin and the portion felt a little small. The restaurant filled up quickly between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., so it's clearly a popular spot. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would come back for the Tri-Tip Bulgogi, Galbi, and the teamwork displayed by the staff.

As someone who occasionally likes to eat alone, I really appreciate that. I've visited several times over the years, including recently under the newer ownership. Unfortunately, some of my old favorites aren't quite the same. I used to love their deep-fried oysters, which are no longer on the menu and have been replaced with deep-fried mussels. The kimchi stew recipe also seems to have changed and wasn't as memorable as before. That said, they still serve my favorite gopchang (beef small intestine). When cooked properly, it gets wonderfully crispy and reminds me of Mexican tripas tacos--definitely worth ordering. I'd personally skip the bibimbap appetizer. The rice was hard, the ground beef was cold, and it felt like it relied too heavily on the gochujang sauce for flavor. Even with those changes, I'll continue supporting this business. Service was also attentive.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.

Food here is decent, not great but good and worth the buck you pay for (which is not a lot so I guess you get what you pay for) But after what I saw and experienced today, I will not be coming back. As we were eating lunch, we noticed one of the staff chopping veggies in front of the bar (not inside of the bar) but outside of the bar where everyone walks by. No shield protecting her workspace and also no gloves for this one worker (wearing black in pics), and get this, as she was chopping I saw her drop a couple of mushrooms on the dirty floor.. she looked around, and hurried to pick them back up then CONTINUED TO CHOP THEM... did not throw them out or wash them but put the dropped dirty mushrooms back on her workspace/cutting board. So gross and so unsanitary!!! Come on!!! Then there's another worker (in a jean colored top). Now she wore gloves! BUT did not wear them appropriately. She wore the SAME GLOVES as she sat people down to their table, take peoples order w a paper and pen that came in and out of her pocket, to clean tables handling a dirty rag and cleaner bottle and to serve drinks as she scooped out ice and poured every one's drinks and USED THE SAME GLOVES TO HELP THE OTHER WORKER CHOP THE VEGGIES. Traditional Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine IMO, is difficult to find here compared to the Bay Area. But that's not the fault of Reno, it's just the number of asian restaurants are so much fewer here and all the produce is literally imported. My goto when checking out a chinese restaurant is their chow fun noodles. Why? The noodles are perishable and if frozen the texture becomes a bit mushy, not firm. Was the noodle fresh, yes but with the cavet that it was probably imported day or two earlier. There are no local noodle makers in Reno. The dish was prepared in traditionally with a slight twist. Garlic, lots of minced garlic. Not complaining, as this is unusual for chow fun noodles to get amost a fourth of a garlic bulb worth. I ordered the mixed protein version with chicken, pork, and beef. There was a slight sweetness to the dish, which I am atributing it to sugar. Which again is unusual but a welcome addition like the garlic. My last visit was when some relatives visted from the Bay Area and we had lunch. I didn't want to take a chance on the food that they may not be used to, so we choose SK Noodle.
