Happy Lunar New Year! This is the first year that my partner and I truly tried to celebrate. I read about the best foods to eat and tried to order something close to eat (because I wasn't ready to try cooking it). I wanted to try a new place. I looked at different options. Read reviews. Decided on Panda House. We ordered chicken chow mein for noodles. Chose the pork potstickers for dumplings. Orange chicken for citrus, and well, because we like orange chicken. And almond cookies. I am very honest about my reviews and I can be picky with food. We have some pretty good Chinese food eateries in the Reno/Sparks area, and I would include Panda House. My partner is pickier than me, and he was happy with our order :) Everything was delicious and portions lasted 2 days! Our fortune cookies had great fortunes, haha ;) And the almond cookies are wonderful! (5 in order)

They always give great service, affordable prices, and huge portions. Food is always delicious, too it's in the perfect spot for me to grab my lunch while at work.

Food is and was amazing. We ordered for the first time and we were blown away how fast we received our food and how nice the delivery girl was. Definitely gonna order again on our next trip back to Reno. Good food, fast service and awesome people cant go wrong here. And the portions pretty big so a big plus.

Wonton soup with a side of bugs.

There were bugs in my wonton soup. It was only a small and I found two. This is so discussing, but, I went back and asked politely for a refund and to my surprise the owner told me that I probably put them in there in order to get a refund. There was probably more bugs in the soup but I was too horrified to continue looking. I will never go here again and I hope no one else does either. The owner is unapologetic and rude and does not care if her costumers get sick or even if they have insects in their food.

I can't speak for the rest of my family BUT I can speak for me. My daughter used to live in Sun Valley and recommended this Chinese food place for us to try. We drove over 20 miles round-trip to try it out. I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice. My chicken appeared to be all breading and very little of what resembled chicken. My rice was overcooked and had very little flavor to it. It had little diced up pieces of some kind of meat in it that had some kind of horrible seasoning on it. It was bad. My husband, said pretty much the same thing. I survived eating it but I won't order from this restaurant again. Not even if it were free.

Sesame chicken, orange chicken with streamed potstickers. Sooooo good.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.

We have family members nearby and a lot of them also say that Asian cuisine out in Reno is not necessarily the best. Not being the case I have to admit we kind of had low expectations of this restaurant. Things were a little weird when we arrived. But first, let me tell you he's at the parking lot is large and there's plenty of parking for everyone. This restaurant shares a lot with an el super market and a few other small businesses. When we entered, the gentlemen at the front seemed very flustered. There was one couple who had arrived just before us. They were there to place a to go order. Once we came in and let them know that we were going to be a party of four, the gentleman looked very confused. All of a sudden he didn't seem like he knew where to put us. There were more than enough tables. He initially was going to place in a tiny booth, but we explained that when we go out to eat that we may be a small group, but we order pretty large amounts of food and we like our table space. He got even more confused and flustered. We ordered green beans with chicken. We had pork chops with spicy salt and fried tofu with spicy salt. And because we were feeling slightly intrigued and curious, we ordered a fried eggplant with spicy salt. That fried eggplant was fantastic. It was so lightly fried, even though the batter, we weren't quite sure about because it looked a little heavy. I really like the green beans. They were still crispy and crunchy. To my liking, those were perfectly cooked. I love that. They use a lot of onion and garlic. Nothing was overly salty. The one oopsie that I experienced that was both a shock and a bit of a problem... one of the waiters came to refill my water and somehow he accidentally missed the cup and dumped about a quarter of the picture of water into my purse. Ughhhh. That part wasn't fun but luckily I keep my purse organized where everything is pretty much in pouches. So most things were protected. My wallet did get wet, but luckily it was just water and nothing else.

The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening.
