This place stinks, their Thai noodle salad is flavorless with a dressing that tastes like it came from a pouch. Pretty sure they used old ingredients in my sandwich, something tasted off. This place is kind of hard to find and tucked back from the main road but TOTALLY worth finding. We were really craving breakfast/brunch food and Mawa's hit the spot! Parking is easy and it's like in almost a suburban office complex haha so I was a little confused driving there. Anyways, the biscuits and gravy here are like my sister makes in Georgia. Mawa, why did you take my money and hang up on me? This is an unfortunate story for my party of 3. We made a reservation for a Friday night at 6pm, very excited to experience this restaurant on our vacation. When we attempted to push back our reservation an hour and a half through Resy, it was somehow cancelled instead, and we were charged the cancellation fee which is set by the restaurant. Mawa's chooses to charge $85 per person, so we were charge $255 total for an accident. We attempted to call the restaurant before they opened to communicate this, but there was no one there to take our call. Upon open, the waiters could not transfer our call to a manager, and instead attempted to fix the problem without getting a manager on the phone. Eventually, after deliberation about how to fix this issue, Mawa came to the phone and said she wouldn't give us our money back because the system says it's cancelled, and upon me asking for that money back again she hung up on me. The OWNER of the restaurant did not have time to hear our request or the care to solve a problem. Instead, they took our hard earned $255 without even sitting us down at their establishment. On Sunday, I got up early on my vacation to try to see if I could solve this problem by going to Mawa's at 8:30am. They were open, with no one seated and no manager on staff. No one there to solve this issue. I took down a managers email (Zak) and received no response. I called again on Monday and Zak answered. He was not able to fix this issue, and said Mawa is the only one that can refund our money. Mawa, will you please call me back? read more

So, being honest, I give a lot of 5 star ratings. And, Mawa's gets a 5 star rating. But 5 stars just doesn't say it enough. We found Mawa's much by accident. It's confusingly located in an industrial complex, and also holds cooking courses. So, we actually thought it might just be a school that let you eat what you cook (which I think you can do). BUT. Hands down, triple crown, diamond star rated, Michelle Man 5 donuts - I don't know how else to differentiate.. Good. Breakfast. Just. Awesome. And listen, don't tell my friends, or family. But they have the best banana bread I've ever eaten in my adult life. As in, I feel like life cheated me, and left me out eating a lesser quality banana bread. The waitress, when asked, said to get it, we wouldn't regret it. It was partially true, because now when I eat banana bread, it's all of a lower standard comparted to Mawa's. Don't tell Mom or Grandma. But if you did, offer them a piece, they'd both understand. Regretfully, we came at our last day in Aspen. Mawa's has a bar that looks stocked to make some delicious cocktails, and they hold cooking classes too (From what I've read). It's like everything you'd want, and a heavy dose of "Wait, there's more". It might throw you off that it's not in downtown Aspen. Don't let it. In fact, embrace it. Take the drive hunt this place down, it's very worth it, and really, not that far from everything anyway. read more

Fairly disappointed in our dinner here in December 27, 2020. The appetizers we had (the dip sampler) was fairly good. It took forever for us to get additional Pita Bread when we asked for more. Our main courses arrived about 3 minutes after the appetizers and we really had no room on the table for everything. I ordered the braised lamb shank and it was luke warm (as were the meals of everyone at our table except my wife). The flavor was okay, but nothing special. The lamb was not as tender as I was expecting for a braise. My wife ordered the branzino and was informed that it was out shortly after her order. She subsequently ordered the Duck Confit (which was like a Shepard's pie). Her dinner arrived about 10 minutes after 6 other diners at the table and had only a small amount of duck included. The flourless chocolate cake was too dense and not memorable. Overall, I would not recommend Mawa as there are plenty of dining options for this price piin Update after the comment from restaurant: totally false that we ordered the apps after the main course. Quiet and special breakfast for my husband's birthday. On Monday of Memorial Day there was lots of seating and great options on outside decks. Pancakes defy gravity and are the fluffiest I have ever had while having a great griddle exterior. Compote was great on top. Husband enjoyed French Toast. Service was great and incredibly friendly. When our server heard me sing happy birthday to my husband he came back with mimosas. I ate brunch here on a Sunday. I had regular drip coffee, the egg white frittata, and the banana bread (based on other's good reviews). The frittata was excellent. Light with delicious flavor. I would definitely eat that again! Now...the banana bread. Meh. I've had a lot better. All I could taste were the walnuts. And I love walnuts, but it hardly had any sweetness or banana flavor. I only ate a few bites. Hopefully, it was just an off batch. The service was...odd. The staff were nice/friendly, but not very attentive. There were a couple large tables and maybe 5 2/3/4 person parties. I was a single diner. They were quick to seat me and take my order, but once my food came, it was like I literally invisible. My banana bread didn't come out with my meal. I asked a different server about it and she told my actual server & she put in the order. I also asked for a coffee refill. Literally about 15-20 mins later, I still hadn't gotten the banana bread OR the coffee refill. No one came to my table. No one. And although they passed right by me, I could NOT get their attention! It was like they deliberately avoided making eye contact. I considered several times getting up and getting my own coffee. Anyway, I finally was able to get my server's attention & asked her about the bread. She said, "It's coming. You didn't order it with your other food." I said, "Yes, I did. It was the first item I ordered." She said, "Ok. I didn't hear you then. It's coming." I also again asked for the coffee refill. She brought the coffee about 5 mins later. I continued to wait for the bread. I waited another 10 mins. The thought crossed my mind that they were back there baking the bread‍. I couldn't fathom why it would take 25-30 mins to plate banana bread! I'm very forgiving with service, but this was excessive. I would eat here again, the frittata was yummy, but with low/realistic expectations of the service. read more

We were so excited to come here, part of the reason we came to Aspen. We are staying at the Little Nell and the staff there (who are wonderful) told us Mawa used to work there and to say hi if we saw her. We did.. she couldn't be bothered to even look at us. An entire glass of champagne was also spilled on me by staff, which I was so kind about because I get that happens, but they didn't even comp the drink (even though I was sitting there soaking wet!) until I said something.
