Not many restaurants get 5 stars, but this one does! The tamale breakfast is excellent. My husband stole a bite from my plate and then he "moaned". WOW. It was that good! I ordered a side of grits, because thats my favorite thing to order anywhere. For the first time ever, I forgot about my grits ( and they were really good too). Anyways, my husband had the Denver omelette, which he said is in his top running. The service was nice and the atmosphere was cozy with a full restaurant of families, small groups and couples. Needless to say, I recommend that you stop here if you are in the overall Aspen Colorado area. read more

No frills, quick and easy breakfast while on the road. There are several options from typical breakfast to omelet etc., pancakes and so on. We chose the basic breakfast with 2 eggs, home fries, choice of sausage link and choice of toast. Every table has its own homemade jam so yes, it was so so good. Coffee was good, kept being refilled when throughout the time we were there; not very strong but they do carry the sugar in the raw so it's a winner in my book. Service was fast and those ladies do a great job managing the tables and traffic. The restaurant is very homey; takes you back to having breakfast at your grandmas home. Most of the clientele here is regulars because the servers know everyone by first name. That's a great touch from a service perspective. One thing though: cash or check only. They do have an ATM on site so keep that in mind if you do want to pull cash out (both your bank and this machine ($2.50) may charge you to use an ATM outside of network). There is an Alpine Bank ATM across the street as well if that works best for your needs. read more

Swoon-worthy! On the advice of our server, I got the chicken tamale breakfast (comes with eggs and beans). They make their tamales in-house, and they were fantastic! My husband had the huevos rancheros (which I had the 1st time we ate here, and can attest they are delish!). This is our go-to whenever we are in the Aspen area. This is located in downtown Basalt, and I can't recommend it enough. I got the huevos rancheros and added green chili. It was delicious! It needed more green chili and more kick, but they only had Tabasco at my table and that didn't fit the bill for me. Coffee was great and they kept my cup full. It was a good breakfast and it was fairly fast as well. Complaint: this place is cash only. I'm not going to dock stars for this because service and food was good. But damn! I keep running into this near small ski towns. It's not a huge deal especially as they have an ATM, but come on now! It's 2018! I can pay with my phone at most places. I hate carrying cash and I really don't want to pay your ATM fee. Our breakfast at this cafe on a Monday morning took an hour and 45 minutes because - we had to wait to be seated, wait for menus after being seated, wait for our food and wait for our bill. My wife chose the breakfast special that included a pair each of eggs, bacon and French toast. I opted for a 3 egg Spanish omelet with green chili and cheese that was topped with salsa and came with hash browns and an English muffin. My wife's breakfast turned out to be pretty good while mine was a disappointment. Management's cash only policy coupled with the protracted commitment in time and locals served first policy relegates this restaurant to one and done status. read more

We needed a small bite to eat and came across this gem. Our waitress, the owner's daughter, was amazing. Super personable and fun to talk to. We ordered steak quesadillas and a cup of posole. I almost tried the mahi mahi tacos, but sadly, it was frozen (please don't serve frozen food). The quesadillas were really good and filling with a jalapeno tortilla (flavorful but not spicy). The posole was a star but we got the last cup and it needed to be hot (unfortunately served warm). I would pop by again for a quick inexpensive bite. We had breakfast one morning before a day of fishing. The staff was super friendly, the food came out quick and was very good. Large portions that set us up for a long day. No menu or acknowledgment till 5min after. Which I was waiting nicely then I finally got a menu and Water etc. got another 5-8min but server never got back to me, server went to check on another table and she was having a full convo with them, I thought she'd then come to me but no never came to me. Then she went on to pick up a phone order and the other server she didn't even want to look at me, so I knew then I was never going to get any service, I walked out nicely.
