This was an amazing meal after a multi-day backpacking trip. The bar was bustling with good vibes. Even though I was ravenous at first, I couldn't finish my meal because it was so large. I had "The Regular" burger with a side of sweet potato fries, and it was so good. The fries and burger were excellent. My friend ordered two big beers and really enjoyed them. We got good service from a teenager who was kind of awkward but very attentive. I didn't bring this up because I didn't want to bother him, but the menu clearly says that you can add cheese, mushrooms, and avocado for $1, but they charged $3 for it. I was wondering if I had somehow misread it, and that they charge $1 for each extra topping, but the receipt said the avocado was $2 and cheese + mushrooms was $1. I do not like a misleading menu and price discrepancies. It ended up being around $28 after tip, which was pricey for just a burger and fries at a casual bar. read more

We stopped by the Brick Pony Pub in Basalt after seeing its solid Yelp rating and knowing they serve a Philly cheesesteak--one of my husband's favorites. It was just past the lunch rush, and we were invited to seat ourselves. After a few minutes, our server brought water that looked a bit off--no ice, and not very refreshing. We ordered a Sprite and a lemonade, but the lemonade tasted quite diluted. It felt like the staff might've been having an off day, and we understand that happens. Wanting to enjoy our afternoon, we paid for our drinks and moved along. We're just visiting, but maybe next time we're in town, we'll give it another try--especially if that Philly cheesesteak is still calling. read more

There were only 2 servers that were taking care of the whole restaurant and bar, which made the service somewhat slow, but they were doing the best they could. I went with the Brick Pony Club and fries. The portion was very big for the price but I didn't love it. The flatbread was overkill for me and I'd prefer regular bread/toast. The fries could have been something better than your typical frozen fries. I wish they were seasoned and unique to the pub. If those view things were different, I think it'd be great. My colleague loved her fish and chips, which she has had before which made her suggest the pub. The fish and chips were listed under entrees that had small print that said they weren't available for lunch, but the server said she could have it. I will probably try that next time. Overall, cool old bar/restaurant with a menu that offers quite a bit of variety. TVs are easy to see from every seat and parking was simple on the road. read more

We got a salad with chicken (good but pricey - the addition of chicken meant it came to a $21 salad). Sandwich with sweet potato fries (good) and then a margarita pizza. Sadly the pizza was a HUGE disappointment. The crust was underdone (very sad for the huge brick oven in the back) and you could tell the dough was not homemade. Still, the drinks were good and overall a nice spot to grab lunch albeit pricey. Sadly, skip the pizza if you are hoping for that traditional brick oven taste. read more

Really sweet pub in this little sweet town. On the historic block of Basalt, worth a stop if looking for a nice place for lunch. We had great fast service and everything was good. The way they cook the steak is not consistent. I have had great steaks cooked perfect and the meat is amazing but have had inconsistency in the way the temp is handled. When steak is overcooked it's very disappointing especially when paying $40. And the way they handle customer service is not consistent either. I've had great experiences but have also had very poor handling of simple requests. I get take out a lot from Brick Pony and generally love the food. This is such a cute little pub to add on to your stop in the little town. We had the sliders, jalapeño poppers, tomato soup and Mac n cheese. And everything was AMAZING and full of flavor! I didn't have super high expectations seeing as there weren't too many dining in spots in town but wow! They had a variety of things on their menu so you can get some diversity. The peach wheat beer is AMAZING and I wish I could pack it in my suitcase and take it home with me. It's literally the most delicious beer I've had all year. Our server was prompt and very sweet. The ladies at the bar were SO kind and accommodating. The food was full of flavor, plating was gorgeous, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. I had the buffalo meatloaf and smashed potatoes (so so so gooood!) and my dinner companion had the chicken parm. The fragrance coming off the plate makes your mouth water. I would have added pictures but we couldn't wait to dig in, and scarfed our food in less than 10 minutes. This is our new "go to" place in Basalt. If you are traveling to Aspen, make the trip down. I wanted to watch soccer in a bar with hopefully like minded folks. I wasn't expecting to find those "like minded folks" but I would be happy to find a bar that had the sports on. This bar is the best! Emily. Yes. The staff makes or breaks a place. Yeah I'm a broken record to you who heard me say this over and over again. But it is what it is! She immediately turned the tv on to the appropriate channel when we asked her to. At around noon or so when we walked in the place wasn't that busy. It didn't end that way though. The beer here is served on this giant beer glass. I needed two hands to lift that thing! Two of those and one of the best burgers around and I'm loaded! This year Germany didn't make the cut but I got to see Portugal kick the a** of the team that brought down my Germany. So that was enough! Your enemy is my enemy Germany. And guess what? Early March I was in Aspen on business. I stayed in Basalt (35 minutes from Aspen), a short walk from the Brick Pony. The Pub lived up to all of its great reviews. I walked in and was met with a friendly hello from the bar tender. Asking if I could eat at the bar she quickly put menus and a set up in front of me. The drinks were great, the wine selection was more than drinkable and the menu had some fantastic selections. Dinner was delicious and ample. Been going her for years. Great pub with good food. It's lively and welcoming. My only complaint is the noise level. Crosses the line at times to very unpleasant. It's by design (or bad design) with the tin ceiling and all hard surfaces, nothing absorbs the sound when it's crowded. Too bad they don't take some steps to control the noise level. It's not difficult. So if yelling for the person across the table to hear you isn't your cup of tea, don't go when they're busy. read more

Basalt is a sweet little town, but does not have a lot of restaurants, so my expectations were low in regard to the food. My husband and I ordered take-out dinner from the Brick Pony Pub and I was pleasantly surprised. I am very much a carnivore; I especially like red meat. However, my husband ordered the Black Bean Burger and I usually end up wishing I had ordered whatever it was that he ordered, so I also ordered the Black Bean Burger. It was quite tasty and filling. I have never had a Black Bean Burger before; this is something that I would like to learn how to make at home. It was very good. read more
