The bottled craft beer selection was diverse, and we were pleased to find a large offering of stouts, which is the perfect winter beer in my opinion. Several TVs, and they were willing to find a hockey game for my husband. Decor is nice. Maybe a little bright for a basement bar, but unlike your traditional dive bar, it was sparkling clean, so it's not like the dark was required to hide the dirt you'd rather not see. He kindly welcomed us into a small but quaint waiting area and told us he'd be back in a few. When he returned, he handed us three glasses of champagne. Dang, we're not even in the bar yet but already digging this place! Finally we're in, and reminiscent of the 1920's with its vintage and retro decor...this speakeasy was super cool, comfy and cozy! Are we really in Montrose? Their drink menu was awesome and I'm not gonna lie, but it was kinda fun watching our mixologist carefully hand craft our cocktails with such care and pride...after all, not everyone can shake, rattle and stir like a mixologist...these peeps are trained professionals! My husband and I were visiting Montrose and decided to try the local speakeasy for a night out. We were greeted at the door immediately and was well taken care of the second we walked in. If you like whiskey, I would high recommend getting the Old Fashioned because they will bring the alcohol cart to where you're sitting and make the whole drink in front of you. The only complaint I have and it's aimed at the owners is why do you charge/force a 3.5% fee/extortion on each bill/check to your customers... it's not Las Vegas and that's the only place where I've seen it constantly pushed, however in Las Vegas you can request it be removed and it is. Your establishment does give discounted options- like on debit cards you give a demand a smaller fee - to be totally fee free of demands/extortion you must pay cash...

We hung out at the bar on Friday night and had some great beers and amazing food and shared some laughs with the bartender as well as the owner. It was a great time, the beer was excellent and we even ended up leaving with a growler to take home and share with friends. Everyone is always so friendly and we've never had anything that we didn't like on the menu. This is definitely one of the standard spots that we will always come to every time you make a trip to Crested Butte.
