The service was outstanding! The restaurant is very interesting, with local historical items and photographs around the place, tastefully done. We were a party of four in there for dinner, one gentleman got the fillet, I got the T-bone steak, the other two people shared a big salad, chucked fried steak, a baked spud and wine We had a very nice bottle of red wine at a fair price (the Malbec!) Everyone was very well pleased with the way the steaks were cooked, the presentation was nice, and the service was absolutely great by a gal named "Max" (which we figured was short for Maxine). Max absolutely loves her job, and it was obvious! She took great care of us! We were treated like long, lost friends, although it was my very first time in the restaurant. We were a little excited to try this place as this being our first time to Gunnison. We do not recommend. My daughter and wife had the small steak and I got the ribeye. Maybe I am a little biased, but a $42 ribeye should be thicker than 1/2" like the ones served at discount chain restaurants. My steak was under seasoned while the small steaks had enough seasoning it could be scrapped off with a fork. The waiter only was seen twice, once to take the order and the other to bring the check. When the steaks were delivered, my drink was empty. By the time the waiter came with the check, I had also emptied my water cup. I inquired if ice tea refills were not included. Anyway - if you do decided to go - stay away from the entries and maybe try the burgers? Just don't expect to be asked how they are or receive refills on beverages :(. read more

Fantastic meal in beautiful downtown Gunnison Colorado. We stopped in for dinner about 430pm on a Friday night. They don't take reservations for parties less than six, so get there early. The dining room is rustic and filled with great mounts. The host and server were professional but casual. Our server Yvon was pleasant and attentive but made us feel a bit rushed. We ordered a Manhattan rocks and a Cosmo. Both drinks were fair pours and balanced correctly. We both chose Ribeyes for our entre. They were seasoned well and cooked to our ordered temps. The sides were also executed perfectly. We got our hopes up for the peanut butter chocolate pie for desert but it was 86ed. After waiting 45 minutes and not even seeing our appetizers and watching customers who arrived after us receive their meals, we asked when our food would arrive and I told the waitress that my blood sugar was getting low and I would have a medical emergency if I didn't eat soon. The waitress came back 20 minutes later and told us that our ticket was not entered and it would be another 10 minutes. We told her that we had to leave. The bartender was new (first night on the job) and had another team member assisting her - both were fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and efficient. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me or took a drink order. I ordered the same steak (rare), but my salad never came until I asked for it when the entrée arrived. That delay left my rare steak cold by the time I finished the salad. Took our family out for dinner and both of our daughters ordered the sirloin steaks cooked medium well. They came out raw and bloody. Asked for them to be fixed. They cooked them again and they were still rare and bloody. The third time they cooked them they were so tough they couldn't be eaten. When my husband spoke to the manager he said we all make mistakes and the world was not going to end. NOT THE WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!! After he realized how bad he responded he apologized and did not charge us for the shoe leather. He also brought to the table some desserts as part of his apology. We ordered Sirloin and Filet steaks, they were both over cooked, tasted like they came straight out of the freezer, then defrosted, very disappointed, ordered spinach as a side plates came with squash and beets. Have to say service was top notch thanks to sweet Jess on the upstairs patio, she's a jewel. The young lady kept apologizing for the kitchen issues which were not her responsibility. Very cool and trendy establishment with upstairs bar and outdoor patio. (No pets allowed). Our server was busy taking care of the entire upstairs area but she did very well. Couldn't ask for any better service really. Excellent food, I would highly recommend their grilled salmon ($22 plus 2 sides). Prices are very reasonable in my opinion. We really wanted to love this place because it was the only time we ate out during our week long trip to the area but found it to be really overpriced mediocre food. I get that it's a ski/resort town and so they rely a lot on tourists and such, but man, it hurt my heart to order two really average burgers (bacon cheddar and the Caliente burger) with the bill coming out to more than $30. My caliente burger barely had any jalapenos or jalapeno strips and overall lacked any kind of heat. Both burgers looked like they were pre-made patties and didn't taste fresh. The upsides are that the restaurant itself looks really nice and our server was friendly. But I don't know if we just had an off day but the burgers weren't worth getting. read more

A cheap cherry was in the drink - not luxardo. I asked for a taste of a hoppy beer. The first was not cold and with a large head. The second was served in a glass with a lipstick stain. I haven't worn lipstick since March. For dinner I ordered the trout with coleslaw and pilaf. They were all very good - served hot and well seasoned. I would definitely get the cole slaw again. We stopped in here the night before thanksgiving - and were glad they were open. We had to wait a few minutes for a table upstairs so grabbed drinks at the bar while we waited. Their tap/cooler system was down - so no beers on tap unfortunately (and just the basics in bottles). I asked the bartender what his specialty was - and he made me a rum punch (delicious). We were seated upstairs, and they let us know there was just one person on up there. She was nice enough - but clearly seemed overwhelmed by the tables and people sitting at the bar. It took awhile to get menus, and once we ordered it took quite awhile to receive our food. After she gave us our food, she didn't check in if we needed anything else - or if the food was ok (again, clearly overwhelmed). I ordered the trout, others ordered the Philly cheesesteak, Reuben and French dip. I was very happy with my meal - and chose coleslaw and a a baked potato as my two sides. Business sold out. What used to be a friendly local establishment is no longer. Single locals are turned away for tourists. I wrote a bad review about this specific issue, and when i returned months later the management interrupted my drink and berated me for hurtint their staff and business. They implied i was a liar. Sarah has lost anything resembling self respect. She repeatedly refused to face the actions of her staff and repeatedly implied i was making things up. Starting my review of Ol'Miner Steakhouse with the 1 big negative the Manager lied to us as patrons! We started with the Hummas plate very yummy humas and pita bites with broccoli, carrots, GRAPE tomatoes and celery. The celery was brown at edges and the GRAPE tomatoes were wilted. We asked for fresh celery and GRAPE tomatoes the server was great, apologized and brought us fresh celery and GRAPE tomatoes. BUT the Manger came over and lied to us telling us the tomatoes were supposed to be wilted as they were "grape/rasin tomatoes" and doubled down stating this is how the tomatoes packaging was labled. This lie and misrepresentation of facts changes what would have been a good positive review of our yummy food, 5oz steaks, baked potatoes, salad, Hummas plate and good service from our waitress to a negative review because the Manager is a liar. read more
