Tomichi Creek Trading Post is a good frendly place to stop for supplies on the West side of Monarch Pass. My truck malfunctioned near Sargents, Colorado and I stopped into the trading post to use phone to call for a tow from AAA. They took the time to call AAA and arranged for my tow to Gunnison, Colorado for repairs. Thats good service.

LODGING: We stayed in the Sleeper Cabin for a week. The cabin has four twin beds set up as two bunk beds with one dorm fridge, a microwave, a built in table and chair. There is a little porch with a bench on the front of the cabin facing the RV parking. This may be an inconvenience to some, but it was great for us. We ended up connecting with other campers nightly. Dirt bikers connected to hit the trails and got together to discuss the events of the day. It was a great time. FACILITIES: The store has all of the things a road-side gas station should have plus some. The gas is reasonably priced for such a location. They have diesel. They only have two shower rooms which was generally enough. We had to wait occasionally, but it was ok. The one thing that would have been nice would be a general wash station for the cabins. It would have been nice to have a space to wash dishes after cooking. STAFF: The staff went above and beyond to help us out with everything we needed. They gave advice on things to see and do in nearby towns, marked trails on maps, delivered bedding to the cabin, and more. FOOD: WONDERFUL! Among the group, we had elk meatloaf, beer brewed in Sargent, Tomichi burger, chicken and waffles, Western burger, fish and chips, and Tank 7 Burrito (Tank 7 trail is a different story...). Absolutely Nothing disappointed. TRAILS: RIDE EVERYTHING YOU POSSIBLY CAN! The views are beyond amazing!

While this restaurant may seem very unassuming from the outside, I promise, when you step inside,…read moreyou won't be disappointed. One of my favorite features is Ramen Wednesdays. More recently, we sat at the bar last week to enjoy both happy hour, and the ramen menu. The bartender was great, and checked in with us regularly. We started with a small plate of the bistro fries - which comes covered in Truffle Oil, Herbs de Provence, and Parmesan Cheese - they're super good, and would say better than a certain CB restaurant's crack fries. The small order was plenty for the three of us to share. For drinks, we started with wine, beer, and I had a mojito. The mojito wasn't my favorite - for some reason, it was really sweet. Second drink was a glass of Sauvignon blanc, which went well with the ramen. On to the ramen - I went with the Boo-Tan-E-Koo Pork broth, traditional wavy noodles, pork belly, poached egg, tempura, green onion, buttered sweet corn, chile thread, fresh ginger, sesame seeds. It was delicious, flavorful, and I couldn't get through the whole bowl (I took about half of it home). That was my first time taking ramen home, and would note it heated up nicely for lunch the next day. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

However, the other night we had a really lovely meal and were luckily seated downstairs, which was very prettily decorated and noise levels not too high. Best thing we had was the whipped ricotta with herbs, fresh and dried apples and, of course, bread. The sage and thyme combo with fruit and light fresh ricotta was so good. So good I forgot to take a photo until we'd wiped the plate clean. Meatballs were also very tasty w a very nice tomato sauce. The burrata served w radishes, beets, citrus and arugula was delicious. The gruyere daily bread was tasty and their honey butter is so good! We over-ate bread, but hey, every course came w bread and it is so good and it is called The Breadery! Thumbs up tho we have yet to have a dessert I would order again. The cannoli were okay but nothing special.

The sourdough with black garlic butter was incredible, easily the best I've ever had. We also shared a Caesar salad with perfectly crispy garlic croutons on the outside and a bright, lemony dressing. The ragu was excellent, with fresh pasta, flavorful meat, and a rich but not heavy tomato based sauce. Cocktails were delicious, especially the Fairy Fog with lavender. I just love drinks with lavender! Highly recommend, and definitely make a reservation.

We arrived before 4:00 and so we were able to take advantage of the Happy Hour menu which has a wide range of small plates that were enticing enough to make our decisions matters of great deliberation. We started with the chicken confit drummies in Buffalo sauce that were so delicious we had to get a second round. Each portion has three drummies that are perfectly sauced and finger licking good. We followed this with an order of Philly Egg Rolls which are cheese steaks in a wonton wrapper. Ambitious but rather average in the event. The beer battered fries with a curry brat redeemed the moment. The fries are crisp on the outside with creamy centers. The curry brat is sliced and mixed throughout. Excellent. We ordered the Orzo Bowl off the main menu which is a delectable mix of veg, berries, nuts and cheese then finished with the warm brownie sundae. Bruhaus offers a great selection of taps and handcrafted cocktails. We had the Espresso Martini and the Topsy and could not have been more pleased. Service was attentive and the ambiance is mountain cozy. The Bruhaus is a nice venue offering great food and beverages served with a smile.
