    Shreddy Tots
    Hannah M.

The Shreddy tots and drinks were great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were lots of seating options and a good atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The main dishes were fine, but not standout. We overheard our server talking poorly about our group to another server which was a bit off putting.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We stopped in here for lunch today (Friday), around noon, and it was hopping![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We checked in at the bar, and they wrote our name down - there wasn't an empty barstool, or table, in the whole place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]That said, if you've been here, you know it's on the smaller side, with even less seating since it isn't patio weather currently.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After a very short, less than five minute wait, a table opened and we were seated. Our server came over with menus, and took our drink order, shortly after we sat down. We were excited to see the new winter menu. Bob ordered the Teocali turkey - turkey, bacon, rocket (aka lettuce), cranberry jam, and Brie, served with chips - he said it was really good. I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which came in a beautifully toasted roll, with an enormous piece of chicken, carrot salad, greens, sriracha mayo, and fries. The sriracha mayo added a nice kick to a delicious sandwich. Our server was great - super friendly, and checked on us multiple times. We will be back to try more of the menu (I was eyeing up the duck confit).

If you're in Gunnison, The Dive is absolutely worth a stop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is casual, laid-back, and fun, with a bar and TVs that make it a great place to unwind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is cooked from a food truck set up inside the space, which gives it a unique vibe. And don't let that fool you, the food is outstanding. My husband had the Dive Burger with a 7 oz Scanga beef and pork blend, gouda, bacon marmalade, and rocket, served with fries. It was rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I had the Chicken Scratch Sandwich with grilled chicken, brie spread, pear jam, and rocket on a warm croissant. I upgraded to tots with bacon and bleu cheese, and they were incredible. Everything was fresh, creative, and seriously delicious. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone passing through.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]They allow dogs on the patio despite the yelp description saying "Industrial dive bar with a food truck kitchen and a large dog-friendly patio."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Cuban was good! We ordered a Pale Ale from High Alpine that was on tap and it definitely drank like a Pilsner/Lager. Not sure if this is on the brewery across the street or if they perhaps had the wrong keg!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall look of this place is very unique. It's an open style restaurant/bar with a food truck inside that serves as the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is geared towards bike and Pearl Jam for the most part.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is cheap and delicious. My husband and I both had the poutine, but he asked for grilled chicken on his. I tasted the chicken and it was phenomenal, it had almost a sweet flavor. Our son had chicken nuggets and they were thin cut and very crispy. I would definitely go back to this place when we come to Gunnison again.

Another solid find in Gunnison. The Dive wasn't what I would call a "dive," but no worries here. We had a great time here. Guess where we sat? You know it - the bar. Seriously, the service never disappoints and you always learn something about the bar or place. Another cool feature was the kitchen playfully situated in a food truck, inside the main dining area. We had a great view to the hard working staff prepping, cooking and serving food. Cool feature #2 is The Dive's creativity around craft cocktails but with their beers. My guy ordered their Mai Tai IPA which was surprisingly fabulous. Y'all, I'm not (even remotely) an IPA girl and I would've had 14 of these, lol. So, for food, we shared their buttermilk chicken with shredded tots. Good but didn't knock my socks off. Their IPA Mai tai did, but not the sandwich. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Maybe a little more seasoning would've gotten my attention. Either way, we left with a smile. We def come back.

    Cobb Salad

Stayed the weekend in Gunnison and heard good things about this place. The menu had a variety of food but I love Cobb salads. This was one of my favorites and they loaded it. They didn't skimp out on anything so I was very pleased. Another bonus was it was just $13 so reasonable prices. 10/10 service and food came out pretty quickly even during dinner rush hour. The only downside is that the place is on the smaller side so the tables are very close.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at High Alpine Brewing…read more We chose this brewery because we thought it was pet friendly, especially since they have a large outdoor upstairs patio. When we arrived, we were initially told dogs weren't allowed. I explained that our dog is extremely well-behaved and simply lays quietly under the table. The hostess said that was fine and seated us at a table right next to the outdoor area. After we sat down, three different employees approached us asking whether our dog was a service animal, even though another staff member had already approved her being there. By that point, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. The final employee was particularly rude and suggested we could tie "it" to a tree if we wanted to eat there. Referring to our dog as "it" and suggesting we leave her tied outside was shocking and unnecessary. Rather than continue feeling unwelcome, we decided to order a pizza to go. We had planned to stay for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, but instead we ate in our car. The prosciutto pizza was decent, but it was much saltier than we expected. At that point, we were just hungry and wanted to leave. What was most disappointing wasn't the dog policy itself--businesses are absolutely entitled to set their own policies. It was the inconsistent communication and the way we were treated after being told it was okay to stay. Instead, the experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

The wine list is very nice, and you won't break the bank -- especially at happy hour, with two dollars off each glass of wine between 5 and 7 PM. We had the House Malbec, from Mendoza, Argentina, and it had a delicious flavor and aroma. It was a full bodied and smooth, dark red offering. For an appetizer, we had the Shishati grilled peppers with pesto/cilantro sauce, and they were just fantastic. They are mild, nicely grilled, and beautifully presented. It is served as an appetizer, but please be warned, one out of every nine peppers is exceedingly hot. We had about 12 peppers, and all of them were mild, so we beat the odds! I've had hamburgers all over the world, and I can honestly say I have not had a better cheeseburger than I got right here from the menu at Blackstock. It's in a traditional bun, lightly toasted, with tempura, onion, cracked pepper, mayo, Tabasco, candied and smoked bacon, and it is served with Hand-cut fries. You can add guacamole for a dollar, or blue cheese or Gruyere cheese for another dollar. But I did not add a thing; it was perfect as it came out of the kitchen for me! You will be asked how you want your hamburger cooked, and I chose medium. It could not have been better! It's on the menu at a very fair $21 including your hand-cut fries. My lovely dinner-date had the petite filet mignon, a 5-ounce offering of spectacular steak, served with goat cheese, potato croquettes, asparagus, stewed shallots, served with a Cabernet Demi glaze at $45. It was a large serving, I believe bigger than 5 ounces, because we are taking half of it home in a to-go box! Again, the food was spectacular... really good. We will finish with the flourless chocolate torte, serve with whipped cream and Amarina dark cherries at $11. If I was a betting man, I'd say you're gonna love this place! Take a few pictures, do what I did, and leave a review, because more people need to know the quality of food coming out of this little storefront on a busy street in Gunnison! And if you ask for Danielle, be advised, he's a great server and you will get exactly what you need! He's very attentive, and charming.

I came with my flight crew (just a couple of pilots in addition) and we just sat at the bar. I had the kale rotisserie chicken salad. The peanut dressing does have soy sauce so it is not gluten free, so they brought me a champagne vinaigrette instead. It was delicious. I got this during the cyclospora outbreak, because I'm a wild person now lol but they assured me they only get quality ingredients and super clean all veggies and fruit coming in. They are pet friendly and have outdoor seating! Servers were very friendly although the serving can take a bit longer, depending on how busy they are. The French Dip came with lots of prime rib and a cup of Au jus, with horseradish to cut down on the heaviness. Crispy chicken sandwich was my favorite! It came sliced in three so the portion was massive. The chicken had more of a Japanese katsu style breading on it so it was super crispy. The burger was also a solid choice. Great bun to filling ratio and the spicy slaw was a complemented the burger well. The fries were pricey and I didn't realize that they weren't a side but an appetizer, but these fries were super crispy and delicious. You could tell that they were fried freshly on the spot. The creamy sauce it came with paired well with them! Deviled eggs were savory and had a kick from the pickle relish. This was my first time eating creamed corn and I liked it! It was warm and creamy, with a slight kick from the jalapeño slices.
