    Cool atmosphere

Came in here after snowboarding on a Sunday afternoon, we were happy to see they were open around 1 PM, when many other bars in the area were not yet open. Although the sign said, fresh pressed margaritas, the bartender didn't know what we were talking about when we asked if all the margaritas on the menu were fresh pressed. Turns out they are mostly all batched. We sat at the bar and we're shocked and odd by the beautiful ambience, with a bookshelf spanning 40 feet high up into the rafters of the ceiling and Mexican themed skeletons lining the shelves high above reach. Very unique and fitting for the theme. We tried the scorpion and the El Niño, the El Niño tasted a little too sweet, although I saw him shaking it and making it in the moment, it tasted a lot like a regular juice. Also, we were given the wrong rim, but when I pointed it out and asked for the cinnamon sugar it said on the menu, the bartender swept out the cups and re-rimmed the new glass. The scorpion was the better drink, although it came batched it was light and delicious, with a real kick that many spicy margaritas don't achieve. Sadly, it slipped my mind to grab a photo! We appreciated our drinks and the good vibes, thanks bonez!

Great atmosphere with friendly service. Our party of 6 came on a Sunday night and had a 15 min wait until we were seated outside streetside patio. The group really enjoyed out queso and salsa appetizers....the pineapple salsa was a hit! Unfortunately, they didn't have avocadoes so we couldn't get the quac :( They had a busy weekend and CB is pretty remote to get frequent deliveries. We ordered Chicken Enchiladas, Fajitas and every version of the non vegan tacos across all of us and the group seemed to enjoy them. It took a significant time to get our entrees.....which I guess can be expected from time to time when a smaller town gets overwhelmed with visitors and staffing challenges. Service from Aiden was super friendly and prompt!

This was a really neat place to eat at. We ate outside because the weather was so nice but the interior of the restaurant is beautiful so maybe a good option for dinner! The salsas were really good. I really liked the chipotle one but the rest of the family liked the pineapple salsa. We passed on the guac because it was overpriced AND you have to make it yourself. Anyway, the enchiladas(we got steak) were the favorite of the meal, followed by the fajitas(the sour cream and picked onions really made this dish), then the bowl which we felt we could have done without. Spanish rice and beans on the side were a good call. The staff was really friendly and helpful, our dishes came out quickly, and they checked in on us regularly. My sister came here before and said she really enjoyed the quesadilla salad last time.

You mix your own guac, and you get a generous amount.

This is a lively restaurant with a cool atmosphere, I especially like the bar area with a long high communal table. The house margaritas were good, they are premixed but not too sweet. The trio of salsas was also yummy, I especially liked the pineapple one, quite spicy. You mix your own guac and I'd recommend asking for jalapenos if you like it a little hot. Our waiter was nice and we had a great time. We'd definitely go back when in Crested Butte.

Happy guacamole - Halved avocados filled with pico de gallo, with a molcajete and tortilla chips in the background, served at a Mexican-themed restaurant.

OMG. The "do it yourself" guacamole is the best. Then the vegan nachos and then the seitan tacos. Service at the bar was the best. Thanks for all the veg options.

Plantains tostada - A plantains tostada with guacamole, beans, and chopped vegetables is served on a white plate at a restaurant, with lime wedges and shredded cheese nearby.

The ambience is great and the customer service as well. We have gone to eat here 2 days in a row and it'll be one we come back to when we visit CB in the future. The food is delicious we had the guacamole, queso, plantains dish, fajitas, a couple of their bowls and their Paloma is so good.

The Dogwood is a cocktail cabin that is located in the heart of downtown Crested Butte. They keep the lights dimmed and have a fun music playlist that creates a nice relaxed atmosphere. The floor creaks as you walk through the cabin and they have cool chandeliers. We were initially told it would be a long wait, but somehow they found a table rather quickly for us. It was cold out, so we appreciated it. The Dogwood has a nice variety of artisanal cocktails on their menu. Our server was very helpful with giving us some options. I didn't have my readers on me and had a hard time reading the menu. So her describing some of the cocktails to me was very helpful. Dogwood has a number of classic drinks, margaritas and martinis. Some of the fun names that I saw were Thor's Hammer, D Cup, Porch Song, Mr. Pink and Beetnik. I ordered the Headhunter and enjoyed my drink. For food, Dogwood has charcuterie-style bites and other light snacks. This was a great find and a nice way to cap off our fun trip to Crested Butte.

The drinks are pricey, but you're really paying for the ambience and care that they put into making each drink. The menus has plenty of options, but you can also order your favorite with your choice of spirits. I opted for a whiskey sour with my beloved Suntory Toki and it was dang good! I initially ordered Suntory Hibiki (a more expensive version of Suntory's whiskey), but I loved that our waitress made sure I saw the price listed for that whiskey was "per ounce"... so my cocktail would have been $50! I very much appreciated that she pointed that out instead of just putting in my order and then me being surprised by the cost! Not a ton of food options, yet they do offer charcuterie plates with your choice of cheeses and meats. We don't go that route, but cocktails and charcuterie would be great for a date night! We took two seats at the bar and were lucky enough to have Tina helping us, she was so friendly and knowledgeable, really a gem. We started with the fiery passion and the rum sour and were impressed by the complexity of flavors in both, the fiery passion was a real winner, with a taste of passionfruit, and the habanero pineapple in the rum really coming through, but not in a overly sweet way, just enough. The chili sugar rim was a unique way to really set it over the top. The rum sour was also delicious, the Demerara, giving it almost a hint of an old-fashioned, but keeping it light and foamy throughout. Such an incredible set of cocktails. I also had the tomato bisque soup, it was so yummy and cheesy, and the staff were nice enough to bring out some local made bread toasted on the side. Then, Tina made us her own special cocktail, a take on a strawberry spicy rum, with an egg white to give it a delicious foamy texture. All the drinks are delicious, and Tina noted that they were the strongest cocktails in the area, with 2 1/2 shots per drink. We were definitely feeling fun and talkative as we were leaving. This place was so upbeat, with games to choose from, but still keeping a refined mountain vibe. We tried to go back again the next day, but had finished earlier and the bar didn't open yet! Bummer. We don't find our way to crested Butte often but next time we are there, it will surely be a stop.

So good I forgot to take a photo until we'd wiped the plate clean. Meatballs were also very tasty w a very nice tomato sauce. The burrata served w radishes, beets, citrus and arugula was delicious. It was very distracting and why I can't give 5 stars. Service was great - our server was attentive and all employees shared in clearing plates which I always like to see. Nothing really stood out to me as far as decor goes - if there was anything cool it was overshadowed by the tvs. For drinks, my husband had an old fashioned which was good but not out of the park. I had their mocktail of the moment which was a yuzu Moscow mule. It was delicious and I'd highly recommend. On the food front, Hideout did a grand job. We started with their special loaded kimchi waffle fries. Epic! I love kimchi and everything about this dish was perfect. For entrees, my husband had their Thai Me Up Burger with shoestring fries and was very pleased with it. Cooked as requested and fun flavors. I had their Fried Chicken Sandwich with kimchi pasta salad and while I only ate half due to being filled from waffle fries, it was very tasty. On the whole, I enjoyed the food and drink at The Hideout, but not sure I would return for the atmosphere or recommend for large groups who want to hang out sans distractions. Zero Proof Review: I'm on a quest to check out all the zero proof, mocktail and n/a beverages that Denver and beyond has to offer. The Hideout did not have a very robust selection so I would love to see them expand that, but their seasonal mocktail was one of the best I've had, so kudos for creativity and craft!
