Late October visit so the restaurant was not very busy. The food here is amazing along with the bar menu. The margarita selection is over the top and there is something for everyone. I had the guacamole (made at table) and a Bonez Bowl with chicken, rice, beans, etc. More food than I could possibly eat but it was amazing. Servers were attentive, pleasant, and made the experience that much better. This place is hard to get a table during the summer and ski season, but definitely worth the wait. We really wanted to love BONEZ. It had come recommended to us and you here on Yelp love it too. Housed inside a building built in the 1890s - the ambiance is super rad. Our server forgot to put in our order. He came back by and told us our order hadn't transferred from his iPad and it would just be a couple more minutes. Not very apologetic and didn't comp anything... All told we were there about 45 minutes before receiving our meal. As for the food. Just eh. We even ordered two things that our server said are favorites: carnitas enchiladas and elk fajitas. Spanish rice that tastes like those bagged variety and the beans weren't anything special (probably just poured out of the cans stored in the dining room). $20 for 3 tacos seriously?! Not at all worth the big price tag. I've had much better food from taco trucks for a fraction of the cost. Our server only came by once for the obligatory "How's everything?" Too bad we were already finished eating and our table was piled high with all our empty dishes. There was zero motivation. Walking in I saw their cool stickers. Well, after looking at every restaurant in Crested Butte we settled on BONEZ for my birthday dinner and man was it a disappointment! We put our name in at 7:05pm on a Friday/St. Patrick's Day and were told it would be an hour. At 7:45pm we were alerted our table was ready early. We all agreed that we liked the ambience and environment of the place. We ordered three scorpion margaritas and one hard horchata, they were all very strong and just okay. We then ordered the chips and salsa and queso. We all really enjoyed the salsas and the queso was pretty good. For entrees we ordered two carnitas enchiladas, California enchiladas, and mixed tacos (fish, beef, & carnitas). According to our receipt, we ordered this almost immediately as we were sat - 7:51pm, but, we didn't get our food until 9:02pm.... And, not only did we wait over an hour for the food, but some dishes came out completely cold (rice and beans) and everything else was luke warm/cool. The food was good, and would have been really good if it had been hot, but was it worth the hour plus wait and the price we paid? Absolutely not. I brought the temperature issue to our waitresses attention and she was apologetic and removed the two $5 rice and beans and $6 chips and salsa and gave us a local discount, which was all greatly appreciated, however, I'm looking back at our receipt today, and we were charged for five drinks when we only ordered four. If things hadn't been so expensive ($12+ for a drink and $22+ for each entree), maybe it would have been something to brush off, but this is pretty ridiculous for this price point. This place was recommended by the owner of the place I was staying. Cute and quaint atmosphere. So much stuff but very clean to the eye. The carnitas enchilada was very tasty with a mix of flavors. Can never go wrong with jalapeño, pineapple and green chili. I eat very little pork but found this very satisfying. Skinny Margarita that packed a punch but I don't drink much these days and altitude may have contributed. Waitstaff was a little aloof but I think she was the only waitstaff at this time and she played hostess as well. I'd definitely come back. Such a good restaurant--food, service, and location are all excellent! We came on a Saturday evening and it was very busy. We checked in and were told it was about a 90 minute wait. We didn't mind because we wanted to walk around and shop some. They took my number and sent me text updates when my table was ready. Everything was tequila based and themed. The inside of the restaurant also had a ton of decor to look at while you sit and wait for your food. I ordered a flight of tequila, nachos app, fajita plate, a meal off the kids menu, and a few different taco plates. All the food was excellent and the portions were very filling. As we approached the table a waiter placed water, chips, and 3 types of homemade salsa on the table. Each dip was a balance of unique sweet and spicy favors. I was warned by the wait staff that the yellow pineapple salsa was the hottest. My server suggested some cocktails of the evening. We decided on the top shelf margaritas on the rocks. The top shelf margaritas were strong but sweet, the bar keep has mastered their margarita recipe. We were very hungry after our walk. So, we ordered the table side Guacamole and Queso Blanco right away. Which was a great choice! Also, the Shrimp Fajitas had the juiciest pop in your mouth shrimp, that I have ever tasted. Don't forget to stop by the host to get some great souvenirs. I purchased the black/red mermaid Bonez shirt, and a grey Bonze hat. I could not believe this small town has the most fanatic work staff from the front of the house Manager to the chiefs. This restaurant has a great program to reward their teammates. Another great night at bonez. Server was attentive and friendly. Food tasted great and looks beautiful on the plate. One thing they need to work on is their gluten-free options. My entree was gluten-free and delicious and did not make me sick. Props for that. They shouldn't even bother calling their chips gluten free. Everyone knows corn tortillas are made of corn, and when you fry them in a wheat tainted fryer they are no longer gluten free. No need to differentiate between gluten-free and celiac how much they should be treated the same. What would be awesome is if you had some bag chips in the kitchen for gluten-free people to order. Heck if you have the space just serve bag chips exclusively, tortilla chips from your fryer are really not that upscale anyway. The bones margarita is fantastic. Bummed to have to write this review - we've been here several times over the years and always eat here at least one night while visiting Crested Butte. I'm not sure what happened in the last year, but prices seem to have skyrocketed. My vegetable enchiladas were $23 and rice & beans were an extra $5. Really? And it's a good thing I decided to pass on them because my boyfriend got the rice & beans and they were saturated in garlic. Both he and I have a garlic intolerance and also eat a LOT of Mexican food. All in all, we experienced a trifecta of red flags this evening - garlic in everything, tacos that come on flour tortillas by default and rice & beans costing $5 extra. I have to say I wasn't super impressed by the food in this joint. Since Yelp is only 3 or 4 stars, I rounded up as my overall impression is 3.5 stars. Huge portions. There were generous amounts of green and red bell peppers and onions. I do wish there was more seasoning on the veggies but the chicken was well seasoned and cooked. I also got a SIDE OF guacamole. It was delicious. I have to point out that the only available guacamole as an appetizer is "do it yourself". This ain't no work-a-raunt. I want you to make me the guac!!! If I'm paying damn near $13 for an appetizer, I want it to be made for me. Though the idea is progressive, I just don't see why anyone would want to make their own food in the restaurant. I can make my own guac at home y'all. So order the guac on the side. Moving on to the other foods. The chicken enchilada was very delicious. My friend was raving about it even the morning after. The tacos were mediocre at best. She checked the menu and the collard greens weren't listed in the ingredients, very disappointing. The steak fajitas were overcooked, not terrible but at least edible after an afternoon of mountain biking.
