I tend to judge all Mexican restaurants by their chili relleno. This one is quite good but the molcajete meat stole the show. Packed full and with a delicious sauce that continued to boil long after it arrived on the table. Services was friendly and accommodating. I was checked on multiple times by the waitress, manager and the guy doing everything from Hosting to clearing tables. I was so impressed that I ate here the next day as well. Food was good and came out in a reasonable amount of time, especially for it being a full house. Margarita were superb! Will definitely come again for them. Green sauce has a good kick to it on the enchiladas. I would like to mention, though, my enchiladas said it would be served with cabbage but it came out with lettuce. read more

I LOVE this place, since moving to the valley I have been to el korita at least 1-2 times a month, I almost always get the fried red snapper with ajillo sauce and it is so so soooo delicious! I have tried the mixed cocktail very good as well and loved the presentation. The food is good, not the best I've ever had but far from the worst. If you're having a craving it will scratch that itch. But $5 for a fountain drink, limited to one refill? Really? It costs cents to make a fountain drink, the ice usually being the most expensive thing in the glass. I know inflation and recession have been a thing, but damn. I went last night for the first time in years. I went to a party. I ordered my favorite Red Snapoer and it came 29 minutes after all my friends had already eaten there dinners so I had it to go . I shared a Red Snapper dinner with my friend and it was terrible full of bones and they left the head on. I tried to eat mine left over tonight and they sliced slices in the flesh so that it cut the bones into small pieces and left the head on . I could not eat it. So I threw away an expensive meal. I'll never order that again. Disappointed in Basalt Colorado. Going out to eat is a treat for a lot of us and I hate throwing my meal away. read more

Have eaten at ElKorita over the years with my son and typically it has been pleasant with good reliable Mexican food. However tonight the restaurant was slammed according to my waiter. I ordered a wonderful margarita while I waited for takeout nachos. Food arrived, I paid and left only to discover black nachos and no guacamole. It was pretty substandard. Went back in to complain and got major attitude from huffy waiter. He barked that it was not his fault...this is not good service however small the order. " How may I make this better?" Is correct response for anyone serving the public. Will look for a more service oriented Mexican restaurant in future. read more

Although I have been coming here for years and like the staff, today was not good. My son got food poisoning 12/23 from a pork burrito. He's been sick all night-classic food poisoning. You know a place is excellent. When you have six people order separate items for dinner, and each each item is amazing. I haven't had guacamole that good since Puerto Vallarta. The meat molcajete was absolutely insanely delicious, sauce was rich and flavorful. Everything was top notch, service was wonderful and very friendly. Chile relleno had been into the warmer so long that the food was dangerously hot, and don't even get me started on the plate. Rest of table was finis(ed before I could even start. The coating on the chile relleno had been reduced to mush. There was something bitter in the salad that I tasted for hours over the food, and the server did not care. Add that to the $4.99 fountain soda (one refill but that requires a server to come by and notice) , no prices for margaritas on the menu, one margarita says choice of tequila, but it is not the customer's choice apparently. We live local here and there are many good mexican restaurants to choose from. Today we chose El Korita which we do often. The food is always good but the service today was below sub par! We chose a time of day that was not during the busy time. The restaurant had a good flow of people coming and going but our server was not attentive. We are not sure if they are short staffed but we chose to leave a below average tip because of the poor service. We were a party of two and a nearby table that ordered after us received their food before us and we had a simple order. When could not locate our server when we were finished so we took our check to the front desk to pay and the older women working as front cashier was on the phone and rang up our order and dI'd not even say thank you. We will by pass your restaurant next time because of the poor service. Many other Mexican restaurants in our Valley to choose from that would love our business! Octopus, shrimp, fish, crab and more. This dish delivers flavor, fresh food and experience. Salsa was fresh and tasty. Guacamole was great. Service was outstanding. I went at 3:30 PM on a Sunday. There when we needed, let us pick most remote table outside even though we were two at a four top. Cleanliness: no problems, cleaned table before we sat down. Everyone wore a mask. PRICE: Very reasonable. $22 for the seafood dish which we split for 2. Total tab for 3 margarita's, main dish, guac and salsa/chips (latter complimentary) about $56 with tax. A foodie acquaintance recommended I go for a house margarita and the dish, and said if I didn't like it, she'd pay for it. She was spot on and I won't be collecting. Service was abysmal. Sat down at the bar and then 4 other people sat down after us. Ordered an appetizer and main course. Everyone else got their food before we got our appetizer. So we cancelled the appetizer and waited for our main course. It never came so we cancelled our order and asked for our bill. No manager came over so we asked to speak with one on our way out. The food is great the staff as well just one small thing that I have noticed is for take out orders the servings are not as they should be compared to eating in the restauran. I ordered a "ceviche special" and It came in small container that wasn't even full with 2 pieces of avocado. Iv ordered the same plate in the restaurant and was a huge difference in the serving size. Cancun shrimp was a little disappointing at first. The presentation was just not very pleasing. However, it was quite tasty with chips. Drip the shrimp in dipping sauce, put on top of the chips, instant hit! Big portion on plate entree. It was good food. read more

The food was decent. I highly recommend the Chile rellenos. The green Chile was pretty solid and the re fried beans I would recommend subbing for the black beans. The black beans were FIRE, and I'm usually obsessed with refried beans but the black beans out did the others. The refried beans were under seasoned. The rice was gross. It was super bland. The chimichanga was pretty good too but would have been better with green Chile than green sauce. My only complaint that lowered my rating was the service--It was horrible. Our server never came to our table once during the entire meal. And he wasn't familiar with the menu At all. I asked for a side of green Chile and he said they no longer serve it at the restaurant. Which was not the case because my sisters meal came smothered in it. A Mexican restaurant without green Chile in Colorado haha! The margaritas were also pretty good. As far as the prices go, there was one page of the menus that was between 10-17 per plate and it was burritos, chimichangas, flautas and chili rellanos. The rest of the menu was 26+ per plate. We ordered drinks and then had to wait 20 minutes or so until a completely different server came by and took our order. The food is here is just plain bad, we've tried to give El Korita the benefit of the doubt multiple times but have never been impressed by the quality of the dishes. Worst place freaking ever. We came here our first night is Basalt based on al the great reviews. The place is run down and hardly speaks English. I ended up getting the shrimp ceviche, it was "brewed/cooked" for wayyyy to long. I didn't eat one bite the shrimp looked disgusting and rubbery. I told the server I didn't like it he goes "why" I told him he was gross and not cooked correct he tells me "hold on" and another server came to my table and tried to explain to me how ceviche was cooked. I'm from south Florida and this right here idk what it was but it wasn't that lol. Anyways log story short, didn't take the food off the bill told me you have to pay (which wasn't an issue) I've just never heard of something like that. read more
