I didn't bring this up because I didn't want to bother him, but the menu clearly says that you can add cheese, mushrooms, and avocado for $1, but they charged $3 for it. I was wondering if I had somehow misread it, and that they charge $1 for each extra topping, but the receipt said the avocado was $2 and cheese + mushrooms was $1. I do not like a misleading menu and price discrepancies. It ended up being around $28 after tip, which was pricey for just a burger and fries at a casual bar.

Disappointing Experience at Jalisco Grill I had high hopes for Jalisco Grill, but unfortunately, our visit was a letdown from start to finish. It was our first and last time. We were seated outdoors, which turned out to be an absolute wind tunnel, making for an uncomfortable dining environment. Upon being seated, we noticed there was no silverware or napkins on the table - an oversight that shouldn't happen at any restaurant. When our food arrived, we had to request utensils and napkins, which came after our plates were served. This lack of basic preparation was frustrating and impacted our meal. As for the food, it was consistently disappointing: - I ordered the beef taco, but the tortilla was dried out. - My companion's carnitas were extremely dry, bland, and overcooked. - My son ordered the Carne Asada medium rare, but it came medium well to well done. If this is how they cook medium rare, I shudder to think what "well done" might look like - incinerated, perhaps? The only saving grace was that some of us had good tortillas, but they arrived late, after our main dishes had already gone cold. The drinks were equally underwhelming. My mojito tasted more like a watered-down margarita than the refreshing cocktail I was expecting. Other drinks were described as "fine, but nothing exceptional." The service, while friendly, was disorganized and lacked attention to detail. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unprepared. Now, let's talk about the price. Our bill for three people (three main dishes, two alcoholic drinks, and one soda) came to over $100 before tip. Add to that a 4% credit card fee and a suggested 20% gratuity, and you're looking at a bill approaching $140. For Mexican cuisine of this quality, that's exceptionally overpriced. In conclusion, while Jalisco Grill has a prime location in Basalt, it fails to deliver on multiple fronts - food quality, service, ambiance, and especially value for money. With so many dining options in the area, I can't recommend this place. Save your pesos and look elsewhere for your Mexican food fix. read more
