Absolutely horrendous!! Stay away on New Years, or perhaps forever. They spilled a drink on my nice jacket that is very rare & valuable. Not only should they fix my jacket , but they should also refund me for the meal! I am not happy with this place & how they didn't even take any accountability or do anything about it for me. They didn't offer help or an apology to me. Absolutely horrible restaurant experience here on New Years. Betula's service is an absolute frickin joke. The food was subpar too. Like, I could've gone literally ANYWHERE ELSE for New Years to celebrate, and it would have been 1 million times better. The lobster and the steak both tasted like SH*T, and the texture was horrible. So dry & stale & cooked wrong. Who can swallow a dry dry piece of meat that was supposed to be medium rare, but somehow it literally was the driest piece of filet I have ever eaten in my entire life. They must use the absolute cheapest and most garbage ingredients that they save money on somehow because I can't imagine any other way that the food quality could've been so below average that it was actually the worst thing I've eaten in a very long time. How can every single thing be so bad in 1 night like extremely extremely unprofessional on their part. If I spilled a drink on an employee's winter coat that is worth lots & lots of money, then how would they feel is someone just ruined my extremely rare & expensive jacket. Why do they think it's ok that they caused so much damage to my outfit as a guest of the restaurant dining in, but chose to do absolutely nothing about it. The clothes cost a lot more than the dinner, and they really ruined my nicest jacket to the point that there's no fixing it now unfortunately. I am very upset and saddened by this, and also disappointed and let down and shocked at how bad Betula could possible even be. It's almost like there is no professionalism whatsoever. I literally saw a guy who was carrying out food having his belt undone and halfway open like hanging out as he's serving plates out to people. The dude's pants were unzipped half way! I sh*t you not, this place let me down in more ways than I could have ever imagined or expected. As I said, worst restaurant experience of my whole entire life. I am very unsatisfied with this place and frankly, hope to never ever return to Betula again. It was absolutely horrid. The lady who brought out a mocktail for someone in my party sitting next to me was not paying attention to dropping off the beverage she had on her tray that she was not careful with. This now ruined my brand new very fragile cashmere coat that should not come in contact with any liquids. They didn't help clean it or do anything about the wet mess she left on me for New Years. I honestly just started sharing even 1% mentioning on this review what is wrong with this restaurant. I could go on for days... They really messed up tonight and caused thousands of dollars worth of damages ruining multiple very very expensive articles of clothing. How am I going to fix her mess that she made on New Years night? The drink she dropped and exploaded all over multiple people in my party including myself, then that's called not being careful and actually messing up at her job very badly. That is beyond unprofessional. It is unheard of and so offensive to me in my life that she would spill on my best jacket I own and not even help or say sorry to me or do anything about it to make it better, or to at least try to make it feel better or help a little bit in any way. I had to get up and use napkins to clean the sticky liquid spilled all over my coat, and it's still not able to come off. They really dropped the ball big time tonight , and I will be making further reviews and complaints because they just collected their money from my party and acted like nothing happened. That's ridiculous. My coat cost more than that entire dinner, and they didn't care that they ruined my jacket with permanent stains & messing up the fabrics extremely inappropriately by literally exploding a whole sticky passion fruit mocktail drink all over my body and causing me to feel soaking wet on my body and in my seat for the entire duration of the rest of my New Years dinner. I need a refund!!! They F'd up everything, literally, and then tried to act like they're doing good work and have a good quality of service and customer satisfaction. Can we talk about the Chipotle Miso Seabass for a second? A culinary sensation, to say the least. The dish was perfect in every way, from flavor to temperature, and I could not have loved it more. It was between that and the saltado dish, which I likely won't ever have because I'll probably choose the same again next time. The rest of our dishes were exceptional as well. The roast duck dish was cooked to custom perfection, which I feel must be said as even Michelin-rated restaurants 'screw the duck' sometimes. The sommelier was impressively knowledgeable. This, of course, is the standard, but I was still impressed. If you've been to Bonito, its sister restaurant in St. Barths (THAT TRUFFLE SALAD!!), you are likely familiar with the quality of everything. Well, nothing has changed (see back to my 2-star review of Betula's NYE dinner in 2023). For some reason, despite having an unforgettably disappointing experience at Betula's 2023/24 NYE dinner, my family wanted to give them a second chance for their 2025/26 NYE dinner. Another 5-course dinner with caviar, truffles, the same deal as last time. We sat down around 9:20pm and it wasn't until 10pm that we had to ask for bread and for the waitress to take our food order. As she's coming around the table taking our orders, the lady bringing out our drinks spilled a passion fruit mocktail on my brother and I. I'm not even kidding. We wiped the wet stains off our clothes and carried on. Bread ended up coming out around 10:20 because "they had to turn their ovens on". You'd think a packed restaurant already has their ovens on, but who knows. First course then came out, a little rice cake with crab. It was good, no complaints here. Then the second courses came out. I chose oysters and the first one I had I got 3 separate shells in that bite. I'm used to an occasional shell here or there, but I couldn't even eat it. Third course, I got lobster risotto. Have you ever gotten lobster that is incredibly difficult to cut? I sure haven't. I thought maybe I was alone with this issue, but the two others at my table that ordered the lobster said the exact same thing. Now for the main course... options were opakapaka, lamb, and filet. I went with the lamb which was actually pretty good. That being said, it was literally swimming in some sort of soy sauce equivalent. Those at my table that ordered the other two mains also liked (not loved) their dishes. Lastly, the dessert. I ordered the matcha cake and it was actually really good. Best part of the entire dinner by far. Couple other points worth mentioning: 1) 8 out of 10 times someone came by to top off our water glasses, they would spill a little on the table. 2) DJ was arguably worse this year than 2023/24 dinner 3) At one point my brother asked our waitress what kind of fish came in his second course (menu clearly said shima aji but he did not know what kind of fish this was). The waitress replied "it's yellowtail". It is literally your job to know this and to say the wrong fish with such confidence is insane to me. 4) My brother sat beside me and 3 out of the 4 dishes he selected, they brought him the wrong dish. Overall, all I can really say is my family comes to Aspen often and we go to Betula on many standard nights and never have any issues. However, 2 separate NYE dinners now and both have been absolutely horrendous flops. I would seriously advise anyone that is looking for a fun NYE spot in Aspen to avoid Betula at all costs. You will thank yourself and your money is much better spent elsewhere. P.S. I don't post reviews often but Betula deserved a special shout out on two separate occasions. read more

From the moment we walked in, to the complimentary amuse-bouche to the cocktails to the presentation of the dishes to the taste, we loved our experience at Betula. Also, extra points for the DJ/music that really elevated the experience. The bubbling bonito was a refreshing spritz drink that was perfect for the evening. I had the poached striped bass which was served in dashi broth with soba noodles - I've been craving Japanese food and this was a beautiful fusion dish that satisfied that craving! Worst dining experience. Left waiting for 20 minutes before menus brought to table and waitstaff approached. First bite of duck had hair in food. Another guest's duck was undercooked and sent back - put under heating lamp. Duck was tough as shoe leather and hard to cut. The worst duck I have ever been served. We told the manager when we left and were told we should have let them know sooner. Will not return. Very sad as every other place we dined in Aspen was exceptional. read more

Some of the best food and service in all of Aspen, Colorado! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive to every need! You need to call ahead a few nights in order to get a reservation at a table, but I recommend going in and trying to grab it a few seats at the bar. Great patio/open dining restaurant. Very chic crowd. I'd come here again for drinks. And that's about it. Food is sub par. We started with the tuna tacos: not good. A melon salad: pretty good. The salmon: basic. The sea bass: pretty good. And the chicken: not great. We made reservations a month prior requesting patio seating. When we arrived for a 6:00 pm reservation they said they don't guarantee patio, which is annoying considering restaurant was still empty. So it's not first come first serve AND they don't let you reserve it? So who are those tables held for? VIPs? The entire patio is off limits?? That's why we'll be here for drinks again perhaps but not dinner. read more

Don't understand what the hype is about this place. The salad was full of Mayonnaise. The first two items in tried to order were out of stock and when I complained, and asked for manager, he never showed up. We just finished a $950 dinner for our family of 4. Food was good, ambiance was good, and our server was great. But my 8 year old son went to the restroom and accidentally cut in front of hostess also waiting to use the restroom. There were 2 doors so I think he was confused. When he came out she asked if he knew there was a line, he responded he didn't and she let him know, "do better next time." What BS. It was an accident. My husband and I had dinner at Betula for the first time a few weeks ago. We ordered the Tuna Tacos, Pekin Duck, Tenderloin and Tres Leches. The duck was my favorite although I recommend it all. The location and restaurant layout is also ideal. We ate on their lovely outdoor patio which had beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Our server, Mauro, was SO nice and helpful. This has to be one of Aspens finest. The food was impeccable and the staff were super friendly, courteous and accommodating. I didn't make reservations- clearly this is a place where you need that. We were happily seated by the bar and kept company by the wonderful bar staff. I want to go back just to chitchat with them! The bread was baked in house- served with either oil or butter. I ordered an appetizer of Elk carpaccio- this is a little different to my norm and boy was it a great choice. The tangy sauce, the beech mushrooms and the greens made this a one of a kind dish. My daughter had the bluefin tuna tataki - again, wonderful. For our entrees, I had the grilled beef tenderloin, which was served with dauphinois potatoes and my daughter had the wagyu beef with truffle potatoes. If I could give the food an 11/10 I would. This was an amazing meal! Presented to perfection. Cooked to our requests impeccably. Now we also saw a celebrity- however I don't actually recognize basketball players so I'll take everyone else's word for it. We were told the restaurant was a regular for the Aspen celebrities, particularly on weekdays. So if you want to go celebrity sporting, come here on a Monday like we did! So this is a must go-to place when in Aspen. It is pricey, but the food speaks for itself and it is a fine-dining establishment. You can expect the best here! read more

I went with a large group so we had a menu that had been chosen ahead of time. The starters and dessert were family style and then we chose between three entrees(duck, lamb and trout) -- I had the lamb and tasted the duck but have no reference for the trout as not many ordered it. - Starters (7/10) - Tuna Tacos - These were probably my least favorite of the items. No one at the table was particularly impressed by this dish. The tuna was not very good and almost mushy. The taco shell was a little greasy like an old cannoli shell. Hamachi Tiradito - Personally, I'm not a huge fan of hamachi but everyone seemed to enjoy this starter. It was not a super creative dish but the hamachi was good and the combination of yuzu and soy sauce was tasty. Burrata and Roasted Beets - The burrata was really tasty but the star for me was the horseradish celery remoulade underneath. The horseradish celery was cut into linguine-esque strips that had a great bite. It was also in a super creamy but light sauce that was delicious with the burrata. The sarrasin cracker was also great and added lovely crunch. - Mains (10/10) - Confit Pekin Duck Leg - The duck was the winner of the night. The roasted potatoes and the sauce it was in were both incredible. Probably the best roast potatoes in recent memory. The sauce elevated the perfectly cooked duck. The only complaint is that I wish it had more caramelized onions. Colorado Rack of Lamb - This lamb was a close second to the duck. The quinoa couscous was severely lacking -- It was overly sweet from raisins and didn't have much other flavour. Everything else was really great. Again, the sauce was incredible. The lamb was also just cooked really well and was tender and juicy. The edges had a great rub like a prime rib roast that added some salt and other seasonings. Pan Seared Colorado Trout - I didn't try this and didn't hear anything about it but I will assume it was good because the duck and lamb were so tasty. This one may have been underwhelming. - Desserts(9/10) - Tres Leches - This dessert reminded me texturally of a tiramisu. I am not a fan of rum flavoured desserts so the sauce lost me a bit(didn't stop me from eating a significant amount of tres leches after already being stuffed from dinner) but the rest was great. The sponge cake had a lot of moisture and was not dense. The dulce de leche creme was really light and not overly sweet. Royal Chocolate Cake - This cake was the best dessert. It was a chocolate mousse on top of a praline. It all just worked and was incredibly good. read more

This is my new favorite upscale restaurant!!! We had dinner reservations for our party of 4 on a Wednesday in March. The music is lit and makes you feel like you're in a nightclub! That totally set the mood for a phenomenal meal!! Their sommelier is wonderful and super helpful!! He helped us choose a perfect bottle of wine!! The staff goes above and beyond to help you have a wonderful meal! Their food is delightful!! Every person in our party loved their dish!! Their Hamachi Tiradito is the tastiest bite ever!!!! This is the first negative review I have ever written about a restaurant. On food quality alone, Betula is among the top 10-15 restaurants in Aspen. However, they have an obnoxiously overpriced wine list, a DJ and music volume that suggests they want to be a club (vs. restaurant), and policies, management and staff that are arrogant for reasons that are hard to understand given the room for improvement vs. the best restaurants in Aspen. We have a home in Aspen and frequent the restaurant scene and there are several better restaurants more worthy of your patronage. read more
