We came here for drinks on our last trip and thought it would be a good place for lunch after a hike. It's been around for a while, and it's Aspen. The food was terrible, expensive and the staff seemed like doing their job was annoying to them. The gazpacho was so acidic I couldn't eat it. The baby lettuces that were supposed to have stone fruit, had a few pieces of fruit that looked like it came from a can. The rest of the ingredients were non existent and the chicken I added was a dry, tiny piece that was grilled, no flavor at all. My husbands pizza also looked terrible, I've seen better things come from a box. Our lunch cost is $100, we are always good tippers, we left 5%. If we weren't tired and hungry after a hike, we would have walked out to find better food. read more

Such a great experience here for my friends bachelorette! Service was great! Very cute spot too! For food we got a few apps, French onion soup and pizza! French onion soup was great! For my main I split with a friend the steak and the truffle risotto. The steak was perfection. The truffle butter made this so good! I came to this place with my family on a Saturday night. You would think they would be open for taking you in and serve you dinner. I called them at 8:30 and they said kitchen is open till 9pm which was fair. We got there at 8:50pm and the hostess looked over to someone who looked like the shift manager and she said "sorry the kitchen is closed". I did not feel like arguing so we just decided to have some pizzas and drinks. That was a big mistake. I ordered what looked like a calzone (pizza that is wrapped) and it was the saltiest dish I've tried. Again we were trying to be mindful and too nice but I think we just went too far for being too nice. I then ordered the other pizza and it was honestly quite mediocre. The waiter was really nice and that's why I'm giving it 1 star otherwise it would be zero for us. They weren't even willing to provide salad. Come on! You can't even make salad in your kitchen? That was just ridiculous. And believe it or not, we had amazing food in every other restaurant we tried in Aspen so this was certainly a one off. My suggestion to the management team is to be honest about your the last call from your kitchen. If you close at 10pm and your kitchen runs till 9pm, you ought to be able to take orders till 9pm. Otherwise, be upfront and shot down kitchen at 8:30pm. Quite disappointed and not even sure if I would ever want to give this place a try. read more

My food was terrible. I ordered a smashburger that costs $33 thinking it must be fabulous for that price. II've had better burgers at Wendy's. The meat was super thin and overcooked. It was smothered in what looked like Velveeta cheese. A tiny slice of an anemic looking tomato with a small squirt of sauce. The fries were so salty I had to send them back. This restaurant could be excellent, but it is in need of serious management attention. The food itself was good, which made the experience even more frustrating, because the service fell far below what you would expect in Aspen. We dined on a Monday evening as a party of eight, and the restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table seated. Despite that, the pacing of the meal was extremely slow. We were there for close to two hours, largely due to how long it took for the food to come out. When the dishes finally arrived, they were brought one at a time instead of together, so by the time everyone had been served, several plates were no longer warm. With such a light dining room, there really wasn't an obvious reason for the delay. It felt less like the kitchen was overwhelmed and more like the focus had shifted away from the guests, which is disappointing in a town where the standard for hospitality is so high. Aspen has no shortage of outstanding restaurants, so consistency in service matters. With stronger management and better attention to timing, this place could be very good -- but as it stands, the experience did not live up to the level the food suggests it should. read more

Really enjoyed a delicious dinner here with my family on 12/27/24! It was hard getting a table here so our expectations were high! Luckily the food, service, and atmosphere did not disappoint. We had such an incredibly friendly waiter who we immediately bonded about soccer with. He gave us great food recommendations and even treated my dad to an extra glass of champagne. We had the carrots and smashed potatoes to start. Then my main was the lemon brick chicken with a side of broccolini. Every dish was so deliciously flavourful. The potatoes were honestly a highlight - so oily and crispy! My other family members had pasta, pizza, and steak. We all loved our dishes so much. Great restaurant! I'm not one for leaving negative reviews, but in this case, I believe honest feedback helps both future guests and the restaurant itself. Our server was good and attentive, and the atmosphere was fine. Unfortunately, the food was the weakest point of the experience. For a French-American restaurant at this price level and the location, the dishes really lacked flavor and execution. Nothing stood out, and we sent back several items because of how tasteless they were. It felt uninspired and not worthy of the concept or cost. The kitchen needs serious improvement. read more

Great location and atmosphere, but that's a given on Aspen. The pizzas are lackluster, the mushroom risottos tasted watery, the steak tartare was great but minuscule, Panzanella salad was mostly bread. Food and drinks did not arrive at the same time for our table. Lots of other great places to go to in Aspen. read more

We had dinner. We both ordered pasta. Our were both cold. I sent mine back twice before it was hot. My daughter's salad was a chopped salad with meats and cheese. We ended up leaving without eating the meal. The waiter did give us basically the food for free and we left a nice tip. It is almost impossible to get a bad meal in Aspen. It just doesn't happen. The food was exceptional. What was shocking was that this is a white tablecloth restaurant with the servers wearing t-shirts. The guy who asked us if we wanted water was wearing an untucked t-shirt with a baseball hat. The owner needs a dress code consistent with the brand and prices. read more

The good: Appetizers! Beef Tartare was great. Scallops were very good. The not so good: The bass was prepared very well, but then they took the nice, crisp bass and served it in a soupy sauce. So, 1/2 the bass skin that was crispy, was now wet and soggy. Plus, at $51 for the bass, it would have been standard practice in France to at least offer to de-bone the bass. ZigZag did not offer. If you figure 20% tip on everything you order, that means $10 tip for the bass. For $10, you should offer to de-bone the bass. The cast iron shrimp were bland. The spices did not do the work. The french fries were decent, but they need to up their game on french fries. They are new and there is room for improvement. Let's start with crispy bass on both side (put the sauce/soup on the side) and de-bone the bass. Figure out how to get the shrimp a bit more flavor. read more

We enjoyed our dining experience so much we returned the next week! The food is excellent and the service is very helpful and attentive. The pizza is particularly outstanding as they have a wood fired pizza oven to produce perfect crust. The new decor looks very elegant as well. Nice refreshment of the old Mezzaluna spot. Despite the unfortunate name (sorry- it just sounds dumb) , I was pleasantly surprised. Service was efficient and unobtrusive, and we ended up sharing everything we tried. They are brand new and still working out some kinks- (the scallops, while perfectly cooked, needed salt and more lemon), but we really enjoyed the steak frites and French Onion soup. The oysters came with a jalapeño relish when I prefer a mignonette. I am hopeful this will turn itself into an Aspen staple and finesse the finer points. read more

Food was great! Service was bad. Ambiance wonderful! The waiter did come soon after we were seated to take drink orders. My daughter ordered a drink and I said when you bring hers, I'd like to try it first before I order my drink choice. Well after 15-20 minutes he came to take our dinner order, we told him we still do not have our drink but we order food. After another 5 minutes we waved down the water guy and asked him to check on the drink. The water guy brought the drink after another 5 minutes. We witnessed him go straight to the bar and ask the bartender for it so he got it done. The waiter never came back to take my drink order the entire time we were there. The food servers did bring food and no one asked about taking a drink order. When we did see our waiter for the third time of the night, he brought our bill I told him I did not appreciate never having him come to our table to ask us if we needed anything. Seeing that there were five empty tables around us and the bar was pretty empty since we came in early at 6 PM. We felt we should've had better service. But we will return because the place was very nice and great food. We ordered mussels, trout and squash ravioli. read more

We were told we could not order a pizza since we were not sitting at the bar. Very disappointing considering the huge pizza oven is the centerpiece of the restaurant. An awesome addition to the Aspen dining scene. We had an outstanding Christmas dinner here. The food was terrific, the ambiance was energetic but not overwhelming, and our server Pedro, was a great host and food and drink guide. We had the scallops starter, the trout, and the prawns for our entrees, and the apple galette for dessert.We will be returning to try some of the other excellent options on the menu. read more
