4.7 The appetizers and pastas were absolutely delicious! This was some of the best Foie Gras I've ever had which pushed this review to 5 stars. The Cacio E Pepe was fresh and you can tell the pastas were home made. It was also cool some of the ingredients for the gnocchi special were housed from an employees local garden/farm. The main dishes lacked some seasoning and were a little lack luster compared to the Apps but would go back for those dishes for sure!!

Phenomenal. Cache Cache is expensive, but amazing. The location is right in town, and the food is so good. Service is mediocre, but that seems to be a pattern and a small price to pay. (From @tastessky on instagram)

Easily one of the most fantastic restaurants in Aspen. It's been around for so long and has consistently remained outstanding. Everything from the food to the ambiance to the delightful and extremely professional staff. I always try to make reservations for at least 2 nights because one never seems like enough. Absolutely all time and will continue to satisfy my every desire

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Was not happy at all ... the wait staff thought they are better then us ... rude at times ... someone needs to tell the waiters that they are in a service industry ... we got a half raw pork chop, I told them they still charged us for it, we had a trout and it was tasteless ... it was our last evening in Aspen so we just took it ... 3 people and the bill was $500 --- we expected so much more ... what a disappointment....

Split 3 ways and including tax/tip, the bill came out to nearly $40 per person. That being said, the banh mi I got was quite good - packed w/flavor from the kimchi and the sauce; though this is probably the first time i've had a banh mi without any cilantro... The thai coconut soup, though, was a bit of a let down. It had all the right flavors, but was in dire need of some acidity and sweetness. Without that, it was quite one-dimensional. Service was decent. We were seated outside so quite a lot of people around and so it often felt quite cramped. Overall, not bad but there's definitely better out there.

As for a sit-down meal, M&C is not in the forefront of my must come back to anymore. When informed that there'll be a long wait to their charming patio; I made the mistake this evening of taking a table inside for immediate seating. Very slow and unattentive was the service there. So disappointed also I was with my undercooked "rotisserie chicken" and the once beloved brown sugar butter sauce of theirs was sour. When asked if they had changed the recipe, our server replied "it depends on who made it" - really?!? I didn't leave this time with that warm and cozy feeling of being a guest at their place, instead now I was just another customer! cheers!

Thankfully within seconds of sitting down, another employee came up and proactively moved us to somewhere a little more secluded. I appreciated that someone saw that wasn't an ideal setup and moved us before we awkwardly said anything. For the food, the pasta was a highlight for both my wife and myself. I got the fettuccini and my wife the prawn pasta and both were great. The bread was also extremely fresh and olive oil nice and robust. My drink was well balanced. I knew I'd like the place when I saw the negative reviews get a sassy response. I appreciate it having local ownership, and that the owner was also working along with the rest of the staff. Present ownership and passion shows.

To get me to write any letter the experience must be pretty extreme and even more so when you consider the food was great and service (once we sat down) was also excellent. My wife and I got there at about 630 expecting to wait for bar seats for a group of 4. Our friends who play local shows and are regulars at Ellina and know the staff joined us. I checked in with the hostess and just made sure on the bar wait protocol and offered to put our name down and they said first come first serve. There was another couple in front of us and when 2 seats opened up in the corner we told them and they sat down (cause it would obviously be wrong to cut in front of them even though we were closer to the seats). We waited patiently for a good 45 minutes with our 2 friends but were not on top of the hostess station cause it was crowded with traffic (we only were like 5 feet away though even with the middle of the bar). About 10 minutes into our wait a group of 3 walked by us (2 girls and a guy celebrating a bday) to also wait at the bar. I remember them walking in cause they  accidentally bumped into me and apologized on their way to wait right by the host station for bar seats. When finally 2 seats opened up my wife and my friend's wife took the seat and when another 10 minutes went by 3 seats next to them opened up. We went to grab 2/3 seats and then the guy from the party said that's our seats. I told him it's first come first serve and they lied and said we were here first. I mention they walked into us while you were walking in and tried to tell them we were right behind the couple who were seated before us an hour ago (their party wasn't even there for that..that's how long we were waiting). Instead of letting me explain, the manager or owner came over and yells "MY BAR MY RULES" at me and said told the other party to sit down. My friends who are regulars and know the bartender and actually have met the her (Jill??) were also shocked. So we had no choice but to wait a little longer before another few seats opened up. We did end up sitting next to the same party of the 3 and the guy actually apologized to my wife multiple times cause they knew they were in the wrong. They totally lied and got away with it.  Despite the rudeness we spent $450 and appreciate Willy working hard for us but my friends and I don't see any of us going back and supporting the establishment after the way the earlier situation was handled and after an attempt to reach privately still no response. There was so many more mature and professional ways to handle the situation like asking for my explanation or having the host who first saw me vouch for me (I asked her if there was a list to put our name down for the bar trying to be proactive) or ask the other couple that was seated down right before us, or being proactive and implementing a waiting list or maybe offering us or the other party drinks or appetizers) but yelling at a customer and completely being in the wrong was so unbelievable out of pocket. It really ruined the meal for all of us despite objectively good food and drinks and like I said Willy and David were great. Please treat your future customers better than us.

I had the 5 course tasting ($195; note there is a 3% service charge - about $220 before tip). Will note that I wasn't quite "full" full after the 5 course menu, but I was more than "neutral," so it was enough food. I also had a mocktail; they had a floral sounding gin-based cocktail ($25) but I didn't want to drink alcohol (worried about having a headache) and they made me a mocktail version ($18) and it tasted girly and fun (just like I like my drinks!). There is downtown Aspen parking available around, it's all per hour and seasonal rates, plus residential parking which is a bit cheaper. I don't think there's any fully free parking anywhere in the area unfortunately. Will also just mention -- the bathroom was immaculate. Smelled lovely, and I dug the dark/black vibe. Def would rec a visit here!

When we were not attending related events, we met friends in town for dinners at rather well-known restaurants -- all were just fine. Quite good, even. But not... great. Then, with a bit of luck and a determined snowstorm, we found ourselves having to stay in Aspen for two additional days. Luckily, we were welcomed back at the resort and, hunkering down with the weather, decided to simply stay put and have dinner on property at West End Social. Due to the weather, we practically had the place to ourselves, which was genius, as we were able to spend even more time with our utterly delightful and endlessly competent server, John B. What followed was easily the best meal we had in Aspen. The pâté was insanely delicious, the pork chop was the best my partner has ever had, and the focaccia (the focaccia!), wildly delicious -- crackling at the edges, deeply earthy, and, I suspect, lifted by a whisper of cornmeal. The only tragedy was that we found ourselves unable to cross the finish line to dessert. And so it was that we came back again the next evening. We ordered an entirely different assortment of dishes (save the otherworldly focaccia), and once again -- perfection. My job back in Massachusetts is to write about local food, farms, and chefs, which is to say only that I think about food -- a lot. And so it is that with total confidence and unbridled enthusiasm I can say -- West End Social, with its gorgeous space, exquisite food, and outstanding people who make it all happen -- is a gem.

The food…read moreitself was good, which made the experience even more frustrating, because the service fell far below what you would expect in Aspen. We dined on a Monday evening as a party of eight, and the restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table seated. Despite that, the pacing of the meal was extremely slow. We were there for close to two hours, largely due to how long it took for the food to come out. When the dishes finally arrived, they were brought one at a time instead of together, so by the time everyone had been served, several plates were no longer warm. With such a light dining room, there really wasn't an obvious reason for the delay. It felt less like the kitchen was overwhelmed and more like the focus had shifted away from the guests, which is disappointing in a town where the standard for hospitality is so high. Aspen has no shortage of outstanding restaurants, so consistency in service matters. With stronger management and better attention to timing, this place could be very good -- but as it stands, the experience did not live up to the level the food suggests it should.
