There is no doubt that Cache Cache is the best restaurant in Aspen. I know there have been a few negative reviews because of the owner/hostess but they should be disregarded. The food itself is fantastic bordering on Michelin star, likewise the service is fantastic. The foie gras terrine and Salad frisee e Lardon can't be beat in the United States. The Osso Bucco is fantastic and the fish especially Dover Sole, when available is perfect. The wine list superb the service is superb and being a local Aspenite, I have been here many times through the years and it remains consistently my go to place for fine dining read more

I'd give Cache Cache zero stars if it were possible purely on the petulant and rude behavior of its manager, Jodi Larner. I had dinner at Cache Cache tonight. When I checked in with Jodi, she scoffed at my face and said she gave our table away because we were late and that there was no way to accommodate us. Turns out she had read her book incorrectly as the reservation confirmation we had received via email through American Express and the confirmation voicemail someone on her team were the same. When I tried to clarify that we had arrived at the right time, instead of apologizing, she responded, "it doesn't matter, we're totally full." I kept trying to clarify that we were in fact there at the right time, and she so rudely dismissed me saying she did NOT have the energy to deal with me and made one of her staff find me a table. This was clearly an honest mistake but poorly and rudely managed by Jodi. Her being overwhelmed by the holiday weekend doesn't give her the right to be so childish! There is fantastic food in aspen- Ellina, Matsuhisa, Wild Fig, Aqualina, monarch, casa tua... I just gave you 6 reasons not to subject yourself to Jodi Larner's terrible hospitality. read more

Very large space with options to lounge, sit at the bar, and dine in. They stack you in the dining area like a can of sardines though..Just a warning, you can literally hear the person behind you chewing. Lol okay maybe not quite, but I like to exaggerate. Came here with a group of 6 for a birthday dinner and had the side noodle dish with the bass. Overall impressed and my favorite was the bottle of red blend - Andrew Will 2010 Cabernet. Sommelier was 5 stars and wait staff was 5 stars. Food was 3 stars and manager was 0 stars. I don't mean someone being short or a little rude, restaurants are tough business and a holiday weekend can add extra stress. What I just can understand is being downright mean to a customer, even when the mistake was entirely the fault of the restaurant. While I won't bore you with the details, the manager Jodi is probably one of the most vile human beings I have ever met at a restaurant and someone who has absolutely no understanding of the word "hospitality". This is one of the more lively restaurants in Aspen and we have wonderful dinner here last weekend. It was a warm evening so we sat outside in the courtyard. We started with the vegetable crudite and the sommelier helped us pick out an excellent rose and it was perfect with the seasonal veggies that they pulled from their farm. The tomatoes were so sweet they tasted like candy! Next we had the steak tartar with grilled bread. You could really tell that they were using the best possible steak. For our entrees we shared the chicken and the Colorado lamb. The dishes were both very good but they were both a bit overcooked. That didn't stop us from devouring them. The chicken came with pommes frites and the lamb came with the creamiest au gratin potatoes. Overall a great dining experience in Aspen. Reserve in advance! read more

I am still thinking longingly about how flat-out delicious this meal was. The restaurant itself was a bit of a zoo, uppity people getting all bent that they they had to wait for tables, and a glance at the menu revealed that one could potentially blow a lot of money in a dining experience here. However, we had received the insider tip to just eat at the bar, which was a dramatically different beast. The handful of high top tables were already full, so we bellied up to the bar. The bartender was slammed but still amazingly friendly, helpful, and eager to set us up with solidly poured glasses of wine. While the bar menu was small (about six entrees?) the prices were about a third of the price of the regular menu, which we had the option to order from as well. When our dishes arrived, both of us were blown away by how amazing everything tasted! The capellini with wild mushrooms, leeks and truffle oil literally did a little dance around my mouth, and my friend couldn't stop raving about her pork chops. Leaving with full, happy bellies for only $14 a plate, in ASPEN? A memorable experience indeed. read more

My friend and I have been to Cache Cache several years during the Food and Wine Classic. We always really really look forward to it. We went last night as we always do on the Sunday ending the event. What a disappointment last night was for me and my friends. The whole booking process was confusing. I booked a few weeks ahead and when I asked for a 7:30 pm reservation they said they didn't book at that time. No idea why so I made it for 8:30 pm. I called yesterday to see if there was a chance we could get 7:30 pm. They said yes but that we would have to sit outside. When we got to the restaurant they asked if we wanted inside or outside. The strange thing aside from now having a choice was that inside was almost empty and outside was packed. Then when we were seated we were greeted by our server Oliver who had absolutely no business working with people. Not an ounce of personality. In any event, I ordered appetizers for my meal as I wasn't interested in any of the entrees. I ordered some spaghettini dish that sounded so great on the menu but absolutely disgusting when served. Our server my friend said tried to come by once to check on us but didn't want to interrupt us. Wish he had as my dish was taken away before I could tell him it wasn't edible. Oliver certainly wasn't very concerned but after seeing how annoyed I was did manage to apologize and remove the dish from the bill. For a place that charges those kind of prices I would have expected the manager to come over and check on us. What a bust to end our weekend. In addition when we sat down my friend asked for a black napkin so that she wouldn't get the lint on her clothes and all Oliver had to offer was black paper cocktail napkins from the bar! It never occurred to him how tacky that was. It was amazing. If they are going to charge fancy prices they should have fancy or at least good service. My friends had good meals and so was my french onion soup. The cheesecake was not good and we heard same comment from another diner. We have always enjoyed our meals in the past but not sure I am going back. I will note that the bar is looks like a nice place to hang out. So the real disappointment was the service. read more

Definitely bring your cash cash to cache cache. All jokes aside, the food and drinks here are wonderful with a sexy atmosphere. Only 2 problems: little overpriced and too much of a LA superficial vibe. I could do without all the plastic and attitude of some of the guests but the staff and management is amazing! So friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I'm in love with the bar menu's crispy trout. Out of this world!!! And always consistently perfect! Rosé by the glass is good and expect the bar to fill up fast! I prefer dinner at the bar over the main dining hall, because it's much more fun! I highly recommend this place when in town. read more

World's worst mojito, with an attitude. This review applies only to the bar. How to make a mojito, a la Cache Cache: fill a large glass with ice. Add several mint leaves and make a half-hearted but futile attempt to crush the leaves against the ice. Add a very small amount of simple syrup and a small amount of rum. Top off with soda. Don't bother to stir. Couple this with an attitude as well, to wit, tossing the check folder onto the bar from several feet away; Papa Hemingway would have punched his lights out. read more

After a long day of snowshoeing, we were looking for some good, warming comfort food. My aunt and uncle recommended Cache Cache to us, and the online menu looked tasty, so away we went. We sat at the bar and perused the bar menu. I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc and we snacked on some super tasty bread and olive oil while we milled over our choices. My husband ordered some escargot for an app and coq au vin for his main. I got the macaroni and cheese app and decided to steal some coq au vin to supplement. My husband always loves escargot - it was hot and buttery. Great for dipping that delicious bread in. My macaroni and cheese was probably the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. I think I tasted some gruyere and gouda in there, but the flavors were so tasty and poppin' it was hard to tell. They also made this mac and cheese with SHELLS, which is the only real way to do it, in my opinion. It was baked with a crispy crust - but the interior was super creamy and wonderful. I almost melted onto the floor. My husband was obsessed with his coq au vin. It was delicious - the chicken was tender and the sauce was rich and flavorful. He got a side of mashed potatoes with it, which he used to soak up some of the sauce. Mmm, mmm good. For dessert we split the almond cake. It was the size of a medium cupcake with a side of vanilla ice cream - it was the perfect small dessert after a rich meal. It was all warm and had the subtle, sweet taste of almonds. The bar menu is a great option to taste finer dining in Aspen without breaking the bank - I highly recommend Cache Cache's bar menu. When we come back we will return. read more

Nice, upscale restaurant in the heart of Aspen's shopping area. I had the Alaska king crab as an appetizer and that was delicious. For a main entree, I ordered the Colorado striped bass, and I thought it was a bit overdone for fish. My husband had the rack of lamb, which was pretty good. The dessert was really good - our party of four shared a chocolate molten lava cake with a scoop of ice cream. Needless to say, that disappeared pretty quickly. I called to inquire about a reservation and the woman who answered the phone was the most RUDE person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. She cut me off multiple times, had a horrible tone, literally told me I was wasting her time during a dinner rush and hung up on me. I understand how busy a restaurant can get in a Friday evening and I was on the phone with her for less than a minute when I was hung up on. I was bringing in a party of 6, good paying customers but thanks to their nasty attitudes, they will not be receiving our business. One of my favorite restaurants in Aspen, I've been coming here most of my life and it never fails!

I am writing this review before getting my entree, which is not very like me. The restaurant was recommended by a local (I think he hates me). The host was friendly and sat me by the bar as I requested. My nightmare begun with the bartender. He minimized all conversation to the minimum, which I found a little snobby but tolerable, as I am not a big talker myself. When I asked if I can have a small plate, he POINTED to the plate by me with an annoyed face, and that was the last straw on a camel's back. The appetizer "mac and cheese" also sucked (too greasy and not enough cheese). I started reading other yelpers' review and realized that I'm not the only one complaining about their attitude. Ok, next time I will consult with my fellow yelpers before anyone! Oh! The fish dish I ordered also lacked taste. read more

Came here our first night in Aspen a day before New Years Eve and the place was jumping! Many stylish people by the bar and a bustling dinner crowd all made for a fun date night. Ambient lighting was great, and the decor was trendy but not too stuffy. Food was good. We shared various app's, of which the lamb ragout pasta was a standout. I ordered the striped bass, which was flavorful. Negatives - Restaurant was very busy, so it a couple of reminders to get our bottle of wine. They slightly apologized, but made no concessions. I would give this place another chance...I figure they were just really busy leading up to the New Year. read more

Worst host I have met in my life. We walk in with a reservation, we requested to sit outside before hand. The Host says '' we might be able to seat you in 20-45 minutes'' with the conversation not being done, he proceded to answer the phone and not finish the conversation. Mixed review begins with some excellent appetizers, particularly the mussels. Others were only slightly above average. Entrees were not memorable, as none of us can recall what we had there less than one week after the fact. Service was very slow, with nearly an hour passing between receiving our appetizers and our entrees. Wine list generally had the highest markup I've ever seen anywhere, with some wines being priced at literally 5x retail. (We did find a Domaine Serene Cuvee at less than 2x retail, however--would have bought more, but our purchase was supposedly their "last bottle".) I doubt that we'd return, as we found several places we enjoyed more. read more

Five of us dined here on 12/20/12 and had a pleasant experience. Cost was around $450 with two drinking adults. Appetizers $10-18, ordered the french onion soup and was satisfied, but not blown away. Two ordered the Colorado striped bass for the main course and were happy. The restaurant as whole was crowded and high energy (loud) and the bar also seemed like a hot spot. When we finished the meal (9:30pm) every seat was taken at the bar and people were standing. A very mixed age of 30-60 somethings dressed in 'Aspen casual' or a classy winter look. read more

This restaurant was great. We sat at the bar, which is a hard thing to do because it's always packed. There you can order from the bar menu which has some different options at more reasonable prices. And yeah, you can also order from the dinner menu. Wine was great, food was outstanding.... I must mention one thing out of everything else: Mac and Cheese. I never eat this anywhere. I have never liked it and I LOVED it here. Mussels were great, bread was good, everything tasty, clean bathrooms, good ambiance.... A great restaurant experience. Expensive but worth it. Beautiful materials, tastefully decorated. Wonderful service - I have to give a shout out to our waiter Alex who made our evening a spectacular one - from the brilliant wine recommendations to making sure our table was always taken care of - he went above and beyond the call of duty (love the French accent too, so sexy). Also appreciated that they were able to accomodate our group in their private dining area, otherwise it would have been obscenly loud - this is the place to see and be seen in Aspen and it's a veritable meat market late at night. Food was average, nothing special - my sea bass tasted way too fishy but hey, we're in Colorado not San Francisco - what can I expect? All in all, a nice option for fine dining in Aspen where there aren't a ton of great choices. read more

Second year in a row dining in the evening at this Aspen social staple. Broad menu, strong service and excellent cuisine. Personally tried the beet salad and for main course the calf's liver. My wife had the roast chicken which was very tasty. Celebrity hide-away, Gwyneth Paltrow seen dining low key. Only complaint was the 'early sitting' rectangular table setting situated between the route from the entrance to the kitchen - so be clear to specify where you wish to sit or be ready for endless staff and customers passing your back while you dine. Also felt a little rushed - a five star restaurant should not bring the check until asked - I counted 2.5 minutes after declining desert - that being after after being asked 3 times in 10 minutes if we wished to order. Why not focus on long term customer loyalty over short term table-flipping a little more ? read more

I have been coming to Aspen for 30 years, and have dined at Cache Cache before. Over the years, I've had a good meal there once or twice, and have been disappointed more than a few times. At this price point, I expect a higher level of service and quality than Cache Cache delivers. Tonight, for example, I ordered the king crab risotto appetizer for $35. The crab had a fishy flavor, and there were multiple pieces of crab shell in the dish. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he said he would inform the chef. Nobody followed up with me, and there was no adjustment on the check, so I assume the chef was too busy collecting everybody's cash cash to ensure that I was happy and satisfied. My daughter liked her $75 sea bass entre', but my trout milanese was ordinary, and not a very nice presentation. So, overall I would say that Cache Cache is overpriced and inconsistent for the experience, and I won't go back. I have felt ripped off after eating there one too many times. I also ate at Aqualina and Matsuhisa during this visit to Aspen, and while they were equally as expensive (or more so) than Cache Cache, I left satisfied, and felt that the experience was commensurate with the price. Not so at Cache Cache. There are a number of better options in Aspen. read more

First time eating truffles and caviar, and I definitely wasn't a fan, but at least I tried new types of food. The creme brulee is pretty good though! read more

The reason for 3-STAR ratig is because when I told the waiter we needed some time to order the food while we were having the cocktail he asured us we would not be rushed. This was recommended to us by a local. So glad we took Jeff's advise. We sat in the bar area. Fallon our server was very helpful and attentive. She suggested several items and we were not disappointed. Our drinks "Svenska Cup" hands down the best drink in quite a while. We ordered several appetizers. A bowl of French onion soup, Lump Crab beignets with their Firecracker sauce and Alaskan King Crab with cantaloupe, avocado, cilantro with a lemon brown butter vinaigrette. All three where simply delicious. As if this wasn't enough we ordered a Fruit Crisp a la-mode. The peaches and the topping were amazing. Our server Fallon, bartenders and wait staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Would make this place a must. read more

Everything was delicious, waitstaff was excellent. This is a fine restaurant. We had a fun time, great champagne!
