Please excuse the lack of flow in my review but I'm still confused Weird vibe, touch-and-go service, great filet. I've never had a $1500.00 dinner with ZERO rhythm. The pace of dinner was SO weird (I know weird is going to be overused in this review) The restaurant itself was SO noisy. The waiter was seemingly on-stage. He was so animated while explaining specials or answering questions, he often missed the point of "serving"...the sommelier was also VERY theatrical...made me wonder if the prerequisite to serve at Catch is to have a theater major? The problem was, neither the server or the sommelier seemed to LISTEN. I ordered a martini and I still have NO IDEA what was served to me. It tasted like the bartender used pickle juice rather than olive juice? It was HORRIBLE. The server graciously took it back and actually tasted it and agreed with me. I was too scared to order another drink so I just shared a glass of wine with my hubby: and that brings me to the wine list. It's HUGE and GiANTLY over priced. I found two bottles I was price familiar with and they are both $50-$60 bottles, but at Catch they were both $300!! Is that even legal? We all ordered a glass of wine out of principle. I am giving 3 stars for a nice filet, money back on a bad cocktail, and the overall thought that the owners or managers under-higher because towards the end of the night, our waiter (who also had a shadow he was training) was in the weeds so bad that he was crashing out. He literally threw the desserts and check on the table and was really sporadic in his movements. He seemed like he was spiraling and I genuinely felt sorry for him. This is a lovely restaurant with attentive service. Known for their meats / steaks the menu boosts other dishes and though I enjoyed my salmon fillet it wasn't wild and the meat eaters at the table barely came up for air. My pals Caesar salad arrived without anchovies, and my wedge salad was just fair. I like to really taste the blue cheese. So, overall four stars though there are lots of options in Aspen. Everything was wonderful! We shared the Yellow Fin Tuna, the Sesame Wedge, the Cowgirl Ribeye and the Dover Sole (which we are NOT cheap, but it was overpriced in my opinion...$160)? You decide. It was VERY good- nice and browned with yummy butter and crispy. We also enjoyed a nice Burgundy priced at $540. The Sommelier was very knowledgeable. The lighting was dim...it was very happening inside and busy with great music I would like to sit outside next time on the a rooftop patio. The weather was perfect and the food really was amazing. DELICIOUS and plenty of salad to share--we didn't eat it all. Could easily have shared with four people. I ordered the vegetarian chicken parm--made vegan. WOW!!! It was one of the best plant based dishes I've had!!! It's a pretty good size--if I lived here I would have wanted to take the leftovers. We finished our night with the Bananas Foster. Catch steak is always a treat, Aspen was no exception. Superb bar, staff and cocktails, delicious menu. 10 out of 10 experience. I had a French 75 cocktail that wasn't on the menu, they made the best I've ever had! Thanks for the extra cherries Sat at the bar, enjoyed the carpaccio, and the pretzel bread. Very nice bar scene, made some new friends. The restaurant was pretty busy. I'm honestly not sure why this place has such a low rating. We dined at Catch Steak in Aspen a few days ago with a group of 12--including four kids--and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The service was top-notch: attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was outstanding across the board. We ordered a wide variety of dishes--Caesar salad, carpaccio, crudo, sushi, steaks, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and more--and every single item was cooked to perfection. Despite our large group, the food came out quickly, hot, and beautifully prepared. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations, and we had a fantastic dining experience. Recommendation: they should stick to Catch and quietly delete Steak from the name. Sushi, sashimi, and rolls? Legit. No complaints. The steaks? I'm not sure where they caught these steaks, but it definitely wasn't from a cow. Party of 9. Four different steaks. All cooked perfectly... and all somehow tasteless, floppy, and oddly fish-adjacent. Impressive, honestly. I fell for the waiter's pitch--sold me a 20oz Wagyu like he was trying to clear end-of-month inventory. "Seven years to get," he said. Correct. It tasted like it spent all seven years waiting to be ordered. $300 for a salt delivery system. My son's Wagyu porterhouse: tasteless. Filet mignon: a confused lump of protein. The 14oz Wagyu strip was the only steak that seemed aware it was food. At this point, I'm convinced the steaks are AI-generated and 3D-printed in the back. Cooked medium-rare, downloaded medium-meh. Caesar salad was great--arrived after the steaks. The famous mushrooms showed up with dessert. Time here is more of a vibe than a schedule. They did comp dessert, which was appreciated. The steak here is meh. Sorry but not sorry. There was zero evidence my filet was wagyu. Not able to cut through it with a knife, kinda charred.....def not worth 104.00. We came for our anniversary and though the steak wasn't up to snuff, the sushi rolls were BEYOND fire. They were the best rolls in Aspen thus far. I eat A LOT of sushi btw. Hubby got the ribeye cap. Then, we were seated at a shared table with other guests, which was bizarre. Our server was distracted and not overly friendly. Many times we would say something and he would just walk away. The food, however, was very good. We started with beef carpaccio and the Caesar salad, which we loved. For dinner, we had two types of filet. They came out at the wrong temperatures. We had a lovely table upstairs and the atmosphere was perfectly lively, loud, and fancy. Service was incredible and so was all the food. Genuinely no complaints and I would order all the same things in a heartbeat. We had the pretzel bread of course, the Caesar salad, and vegetable sushi to start. Our mains were three fillet mignons, one veg chicken parm, and one spicy pasta. Our sides were the broccolini, mash potatoes, and mac and cheese. The fillet was perfectly cooked and salted. The ambience was great. The menu is highly misleading. I do not need a lesson from the manager on how to read the menu. I felt that was condescending. And he completely pushed off my misunderstanding. I do not recommend the Wagyu flight of beef. Highly highly highly overrated for one and a half ounces of steak for $95. Absolutely ridiculous! And that's a meal? So how could I be so far off to misinterpret that we were going to get 6 ounces of steak?. The Dover sole was good but highly overpriced as well. I felt that I heard the waiter say $120 and the bill came back at $160. I would definitely not have ordered it at 160. I also expected it to be split in the kitchen. But instead, they brought out a very tiny dessert plate and expected us to split it ourselves . There was no way it was going to fit on the plate, let alone sloshing the sauce from plate to plate. If you've had truly great steak elsewhere, you might find this one just okay. It didn't quite live up to the hype or the cost. Catch Steak (Aspen) was a HUGE disappointment. There were 2 good things about this place: (1) ambience, (2) pretzel bread with mustard butter. Other than that, the most important aspects you would want in a restaurant - the steak and the service- were astonishingly absent. Our waiter got our drink and appetizer order and then stopped by to get our food order in a very rushed manner. We noticed that he didn't explain anything on the menu as we had heard the server do at the table next to us. We both ordered the 8 oz filet. It took quite a long time to receive the steaks and they were NOT good. It took me a LONG time to chew each piece which shows how tough it was. We were really surprised at the quality of the meat, given the really high prices. After taking our food order, our server did not come back to our table until we were finished and I don't think you could even count it as checking on us because he just walked past our table with an armload of plates and said " How is everything? Good?" and didn't even slow down, much less stop; he just kept walking. We had empty drinks for a long time and had to ask the female server who brought our steaks for a refill; a different server brought us the new drinks. After we sat there for awhile (after finishing), our server finally came to our table and asked us if everything was amazing. I think my jaw dropped. We told him we just wanted the bill. I made a point to tell the manager about this bad experience and his response was to offer me his business card and to say that he hoped we would try the restaurant again. WHY would I do that after such a horrible experience? The manager didn't handle this appropriately at all- he made no attempt to resolve the issue. We felt like this was an imposter high-end restaurant, meaning they pretend to be high end to charge the high prices, but offer low quality service and food. We always looks for the best restaurants and expect to pay higher prices, but this one did not AT ALL measure up. read more

The lychee cocktail was Devine-on point!The spicy tuna roll I believe is one of the best I've ever had ever!!! The freshness, the texture, flavor & spice was perfect!!! I could have made a meal off of that roll. The Caesar salad also was off the charts amazing with the flavor & freshness. The eggs were cooked to perfection, just the right amount of the best Caesar tasting dressing, and the homemade Parmesan cheese thingy were just incredible! The Wagyu flight was very good but wish the side table chef would have cooked a few pieces at a time let us taste or enjoy and then cooked the rest. We had early reservations for a Saturday and were seated right away. A lovely table. The server did an excellent job explaining all the steak options -- its prodigious. My two guests opted for the Kobe waygu steak appetizers and raved about them. As I am a vegetarian I ordered the vegetarian chicken parm -- it was very good. Second time at Catch. First time was a 5 star experience. The second devolved into a sustained lack of service. Long waits between sitting down, drink order, food order, and general follow-up. My wife had to ask twice for a glass of wine. I had to ask twice for a beer which finally arrived when I finished my steak. Spend $100 bucks on a steak and it would nice to wash it down with a cold beer. No one inquired about the food or if we needed anything else. We had reservations on a Sunday night and were pleased to be seated right away. The ambiance was warm and cozy, not very loud, and the staff was attentive. Food came out fairly quick. I had the salmon that was resting in a cauliflower puree and sauce, served with sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes. Every bite was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! There was a basket of pretzel breadsticks with honey mustard, which was served hot and was very yummy. My cocktail for the night was the "On the side"; it was okay. While we waited for our table to be ready, we headed to the bar to be ignored by the bartender. The bar back finally was willing to give us cocktails and when I asked the bartender for three additional cocktails. He ignored me, went back to the register printed my check and handed it to me.
