The pepperonis are delicious, I mean they taste fresh, not bland like Pizza but and they like not that it should but that's all I could compare it to at this time. The cheese is chewy, gooey, but not messy and stays on the pizza pretty often. Some of the best I've had in DMV, but couldn't compete w say a Grimaldis but not many can. I had a 2 week craving for good pizza and this did the job, ended up going twice in one week. It is my go to for consistently good pizza. I've visited 4 of they locales and all were spot on. Went in on a Sunday around 11:15AM and took absolutely forever to be served. At first we thought it was bc our entire party wasn't there yet but no one had even come over to greet us. Then once the entire party arrived, it still took about 15 mins before someone came to greet us and take our drink orders. If I could give this Matchbox a NEGATIVE star rating, I would. Today's experience has become commonplace. No greeter at the desk to check in to the reservation. Drinks took forever to come, and it was only coffee and tea (no subsequent refills were ever offered). Food took forever to come and everyone had cold items that were supposed to be hot. Server didn't come back to the table, so I had to flag down the manager. After my sandwich came incorrect the SECOND time, I gave up the ghost (my only request was no aoli). My sister took me here for a Mother's Day brunch. OMG, sooo good! We had the bottomless mimosas - $23 each and a 2 hour limit. You can choose your own juice - pineapple, orange, grapefruit or cranberry. We chose pineapple, it went great with the champagne. Our particular waitress Jenny was inattentive and slow we arrived at 2:45 was given water @3:20 only after asking 2x although other servers in our visible area were doing a great job in addition a server by the name of Kaylah actually stepped in to help and she was very attentive . The set back is this location has a DJ whose music was a nice combination although it was loud when we arrived it seem to get louder by the hour. Not good! We had a table upstairs with no server. We waited for about 15 minutes for them to tell us there was no server upstairs. We asked to move downstairs and had to wait another 5-10 minutes for them to figure where to place us. It was a bit confusing and they made it seem like it was very complicated to figure it out. So there was a booth available that we wanted. So we asked to sit there and it took another 5 minutes to figure it out. We orders food abs drinks. We got our food and drinks. One of my friends orders a drink and it never came. We had to tell the manager (new) that someone in our party did not receive their drink. She went back to the bar to check in it and said it was coming. There was lack of staff. The reason was due to new management. I have never heard of such thing. But it was very sad to hear. There were people at the restaurant but it wasn't packed. The ambiance was okay outside of the service. I only laid my eyes on 2 servers. Everybody else was the bartender and the folks in the kitchen and the hostess. This was definitely an eye sore to see! The bartender even ran out of glasses. The part I am upset about is that management never came to us to apologize about the staff, the service or the pile up in the kitchen. They did not acknowledge anything about what had happen. I've always loved Matchbox and it has never disappointed. I ordered the lobster roll which was a first for me to order from here and it was really good. I always like a good lobster roll as this was a hit not a miss. My mother ordered the crab cake sandwich and she enjoyed her food as well. I also ordered the sangria which was refreshing as well. I went here Sunday 4/20 with family and it was a TERRIFIC EXPERIENCE!!! I have been going to match box for years and was excited to take my family to experience what I thought would be a great time. The atmosphere was like a club or lounge and the music was TOO LOUD! It was so loud the server couldn't take order correctly and keep messing it up to the point he was getting frustrated and begin to throw away food. I was very appalled when I witness him do that. He constantly messed up the order and one member in my party never received his food at all! We had to beg for silverware and due to an apparent language barrier with one servers she got trusted and just left. When we brought this to the attention of management he took off only a small percentage of the bill after we literally waited over ten minutes to talk to him! So after settling the bill 2 days later I discovered that the server had given himself an extra $25 tip! In my book that's stealing when I called the manager Tyshawn I believe he was very nonchalant about it. This leads me to believe it's happened before. Matchbox was place I stumbled on walking from my wax appointment and it deff hit the spot for my lunch! I stopped in right at 11 when they opened and me and my group loved it! The place is very modern with a variety of regular American food...but make it a little upscale. I had the crispy chicken sandwich without the Nashville because I was scared it was too hot...I ended up getting it on the side and it was VERY hot but not like a spicy hot, it was a dry seasoning heat hot. I just decided to get buffalo sauce on the side. The crispiness of the sandwich was so amazing like I'm a texture person and it deff satisfied me. The fries were good as well. I would love to come for brunch ! I actually took off the devil egg spread because I don't like eggs at all but other than that it was yummy! Sad, huh?lol But a pizza at breakfast time with sausage, spanish onions, smoked gouda, scrambled eggs, pico de gallo, and top it off with a chipotle sour cream aioli drizzle?!??! Ooooo Babay!! As a 1st time Brunchbox attendee, Alicia our awesome server happily broke it all down and was able to keep up with our huge array of individual selections. Thanks Alicia! They now have a wide variety of unlimited small plates with the exception of the pizzas, they're smaller than usual but still a good 8 slices. All of this for $31.50 and an additional $20 for unlimited mimosas. She gave us dry erase markers to check off each round of our selections. When I say we sampled everything single item on that menu, EVERYTHING! I seriously can't believe that I ate that much. Some of my delectable favs that stand out of course are my Brunch Pizza, Lemon Pound Cake French Toast, Mini Walk of Shame Burrito, and ohhhhhh the unlimited mimosas!! I love a mimosa that's not already mixed/poured by the bar. They bring the bottle to the table with a baby carafe of juice.... light on the juice PERFECT!!!
