4/29/26 Dinner after work visit. It's no secret I eat here…read moreoften either lunch to treat members of my team or dinner on the way home. Tonight was with a beautiful couple, one of our Elders and his wife who is our Financial bookkeeper. Food is a great way of bringing people together. This was their first experience here and we had allot of fun discussing Thai dishes while deepening our relationship. Parking 5/5 Found our parking spot at 4:20. Plenty of parking in shared spaces including the Albertsons main lot. Service 5/5+ Arrived at dinner service opening, 4:30 pm. We were invited to choose our seating preferences and chose a table. We enjoyed a quiet and personalized service being the first guests. Our drink orders and starters were taken. Tonight I treated my guests with order of Rice paper spring rolls which are delicious and they agreed. These are often eaten as finger foods but Mike and I tackled them well with chopsticks as respect and earn kudos from Joe the owner and the staff. Entrees 5/5 + My guests ordered Red Curry and Pad Phong Ga Ree. They enjoyed their meal. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao Thai Hot #5 and Basil rice; a new discovery, both were excellent! Dessert 5/5 We shared Mango Sticks Rice. Thai plates has the best its always available when others say it's out of season. We all had leftovers (Cartwheel) $ 105 before tip Clean comfortable and consistent Thai Food dining my friends-SYOY!

The restaurant was tucked away in a strip mall, but was cozy. The staff is amazing and we were immediately seated. Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. If you are in the area and craving Thai, stop in and enjoy!

There were 4 of us. Our server, Kassiddi, was fantastic, super attentive, knowledgable, helpful,…read morefriendly, we couldn't have asked for better, she was awesome. The ambience is super comfortable, easy, casual. But, it's *super* loud, like really, really loud. The 4 of us had to literally scream, top of our lungs, to hear each other, and these aren't big tables, it's tight in there, so you're very close together. We left with sore throats from yelling. It felt like "a relief" when we stepped out front. After 2 hours sitting in the wooden seats, my butt was also relieved to be getting up. Parking is ridiculous, it's a very thin one way driveway with *no way to turn around* when you reach the end - back it up! Super tiny parking lot. Food: the food was very good. We ordered 6-8 things for the 4 of us because all items are pretty small. Top section of the menu are called smaller items. They were. Items on the bottom section are bigger, but not big. For perspective, when the 4 of us split an item from the bottom "entree section" we each got 2-3 bites/forks-full. So a full entree for one person is 8-12 bites. All items tasted very good, clearly high quality, well curated and definitely unique to this restaurant. The steamed white rice was hot, steamy, moist and sticky, really good. The Panang Chicken was really good, different, creamy, dark, rich and smokey. I added pictures of the menu, inside, patio, bar and a few food items so you can see for yourself. Would I go back? I would because the service was great, visual atmosphere was comfortable, and food was high quality, but turning the music volume down at least 1/2 way from what we had would go a long way,... a looooong way, seriously. Increasing the portion size of menu entrees would also be an improvement since they're about the same price as larger portions elsewhere. And throw some cushions on those inside wooden benches, our butts will thank you. Overall this was a good first visit and I'd try Glai Baan again, hoping for the same great service, quality food and updates to the other items.

Being at Mekong Plaza on…read moreNew Year's Day around lunch time, it seemed impossible snagging a parking spot so we decided to go somewhere else. Looking at nearby Thai restaurants, we ventured to Tempe to give our second option a try only to find them closed for the holiday. I see Smile wasn't too far from where we were at so we decided to give them a go. Why not try something new in the new year? We were greeted as soon as we walked in, the host/server was welcoming and provided great service the entire time. We ordered their Thai tea, crab wontons and spring rolls for our drinks and appetizers. They were crispy fried and so delicious. The appetizers come with a standard sweet chili dipping sauce. For my entree I ordered their chicken bbq with a side of fried rice. My friend ordered chicken red curry. For dessert, we ordered their Thai custard sticky rice and the mango sticky rice. Wow! All I can say is, what a great experience! We were so impressed with the food that I think this is our new spot. We'll tell our friends and family to give this restaurant a try.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Smile Thai Cuisine 2107 S. Rural Road Tempe, 85282 I last visited this restaurant more than 10 years ago, so it was time for a new review. Upon entering I immediately noticed that the inside has totally changed. The entrance seems to be filled with a bar and a cash register and the tables have moved to the side. We started off with an appetizer of chicken satay. Long thin strips of chicken threaded onto skewers and served with a peanut sauce. It was a tasty dish though a bit difficult to get off the wooden skewers. For companions main course, ordered was pork cashew nuts. The dish had a melange of vegetables in a chile/garlic sauce. Companion enjoyed it be was unable to finish the dish because the portion was large. I ordered duck curry. I asked for it to be spicy, but unfortunately it was anything but that. The sauce was thin and without body and had an assortment of veggies in it along with some duck. At the bottom of the bowl I found a leg of duck. The dish was served with white rice which I promptly added to the sauce in an attempt to soak up some of it, but alas, it was to no avail. For drinks, we both ordered Thai Tea, which was properly made. It is served in tall jars, and neither of us could drink it all. If you have real Thai food that is Thai hot, Thai Tea will get rid of the heat on your palate in less than a minute. Cleanliness is a bit of a question, as our table had some old food encrusted on the edge. 3 Stars

We decided to order four (4) vegetable spring rolls as an appetizer. The presentation was nice as they came in a steel cup with the typical sweet and sour sauce. They tasted good as well. For our entrees, we got the pad see ew with tofu, spice level 3/4 and the pra ram with tofu, spice level 2/4. Our food came out quickly and both dishes looked great. I liked the spiciness of the noodles and the flavor of the pad see ew. The pra ram was delicious with a strong peanut sauce and lots of vegetables, plus jasmine rice. We split the dishes and it was a good variety. Prices are on the higher side for lunch specials but that's to be expected these days. I'm glad I finally tried this place and I would definitely come back and try more dishes!

I especially enjoyed the beef skewers ,they're my favorite dish here. The orange chicken is tasty too. The desserts were just okay, they look fun and cute, but the flavors were a bit simple for my taste. The staff are very nice, friendly, and quick, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is a little old, but it's still clean and comfortable. Overall, it was a nice place to try , I always enjoy exploring new spots and gaining new experiences

Not my favorite spot for Szechuan!…read more The waitress's rec for my friend who really wanted something Szechuan spicy was not spicy at all - tasted like it was spiced with red pepper flakes and some other hot sauce that just seemed really greasy. We also asked for more bok choy since there was only 2 pieces in the whole dish and they charged us $2 for that. I didn't think that was very fair. When asking for water, be sure to be ready to pay for bottled because they don't serve tap. You must buy a beverage. Overall the squid was tasty and crispy, my delights were satisfied by the novelty items like having dragons breath in a decorated dragon den, and at night this place has been a treat to be in (bustling with students coming for the lights and other novelty plushies/labubu's and holographic decor) but this would not be my first choice to bring family to for an authentic experience.

That alone was frustrating, but the food was even more disappointing. The Vietnamese crepe we used to enjoy was completely off. It was thick and doughy like pizza crust instead of the light, crispy texture it used to have (which all Vietnamese crepes have, actually). We ended up throwing most of it away and just eating some of the veggies inside. The spring roll was another letdown. Basically all noodles, hardly any veggies or meat, and only "two shrimp" (really just one shrimp cut in half). I had actually read another review saying the same thing right before writing my update. My husband and I laughed since we were literally about to write the same. Customer service didn't help either. I had to repeat my order three times because the staff member kept stopping to talk to a coworker. It felt really dismissive. Even the Thai tea, while tasty, was only filled about 3/4 of the way. The only decent part of the meal was the vermicelli bowl. I'm not sure if ownership changed, but the flavors, portions, and overall experience were way off from what this place used to be. Honestly, you're better off going to the other Vietnamese spot nearby for better flavor and value.
