WORST MEAL OF THE YEAR !!! It's 2022 in case your wondering !
    Frank B.

Ok this was the simply the worst ! Ever had a nightmare about enjoying a meal and it had no taste well mine became a reality today. Maybe because I was to heading to Alice Cooper but I don't think I've consumed a Mediterranean dinner with no taste.... And no I didn't have Covid ! I ordered Kafta Kabobs with a side of humus. The main coarse was tasteless so I ordered a side of humus to add and it tasted like I'd imagine a dirty sock would taste. It was my only hope of doing something but it didn't help. Like a defeated food soldier in the moment of defeat I laid my knife & fork down and covered my plate. As I paid the bill the tear of and poor meal pooled down the side of my eye ! Never will I step foot into this place again! Frank B is OUT!

This is a centrally located restaurant close to Science Center/Climate Pledge Arena. It's a quiet restaurant with fast service and decently sized portions. We came at 7pm on a Saturday and there was no line. The hostess asked us if we had a show to go to so I suspect a lot of their customers are from people coming in to see shows at Climate Pledge. We got the vegetable platter and the lamb shwarma. In both, the rice was extremely delicious. The vegetable platter was significantly better than the lamb shwarma with more types of food as well as a side of pita (not pictured). Knocking off one star since the lamb was actually not as tender as you would expect. If you have been to Aladdin's near UW, the value is much better with better taste (tender meat). Still would go here again just to eat the rice again!

Eggplant. I could have eaten it with a spoon LOL

Went here for the first time before a Michael Buble concert. The place looks small but there's also an additional room on the side. Everything was so fresh and done to perfection. My pictures show how beautiful everything is. Hummus was great, the eggplant appetizer was to die for and the chicken was grilled so nicely. The only thing I did not care for was the baklava. It wasn't because it was drizzled with flower water in lieu of honey. It just had no flavor with the exception of the phyllo dough. Looked absolutely beautiful, but again if it had a taste, I don't know what it was. That said, if you're not a huge dessert person, I would definitely go. Be prepared if the place is busy to wait a little bit for your food

The staff was friendly but the food showed up lukewarm. I ordered the gyros, which came on rice instead of wrapped in pita. That's fine because there was a side of pita but it was cold and stiff. The meat was not good but I tried my wife's chicken shwarma and it was good but also cold. We asked for them to heat it up and they did. It was better at the correct temperature but the meat was still not good. Could have been an off night, Saturday about half full, but at least they has a Lebanese beer I had never tried. Next time I go to a Kraken game I'll try somewhere else.

Such a cool place with neat decor and super friendly staff. Alas, the kitchen isn't keeping an eye on the food and everything that I tried (four different meat dishes) was overcooked by a couple minutes at least. Lamb and chicken were both super dry but ultimately the sauces that accompanied the dishes were pretty good. The fish was okay but not in any way excellent. I seriously think that this place is just one cook/chef away from being excellent but whatever is going on back there now is really holding them back. Hopefully they'll find someone who understands the different time requirements for different meats and get them working in the kitchen but until that time, I think I'll do my own work in the kitchen.

We tried this restaurant because it was close to our hotel and I felt like Mediterranean food. We started with the stuffed grape leaves. They were tangy and creamy. For our entrée we ha the Ouzi Lamb, with both the yogurt and garlic sauces, on the side. I liked the garlic sauce best. We paired our meal with a bottle of Anno Domini Pinor Nero wine. This was a great combination. We finished with the baklava. It was an excellent meal. Our server Chris was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Went to the New Maroun last night. Food, location, cleanliness, and service are all the same as chef Paul's Mashawi which is perfect. This is the 3rd name change in the 35+ years that I have frequented this place and still my favorite. Best Hummus and Baba Ghanouj you will find. My favorites are the Shish Tawouk, wings, lamb kabobs and chicken thighs. All come with garlic flavored yellow rice which is amazing. I'm heading home to have the leftovers for lunch now Very happy to see them back open Jeff

A very good, but not excellent Lebanese spot. The shawarma is made with chicken thighs, unlikely on a rotating spit. The tabouli was good and fresh, and the ful madames was tasty. Mine was moist and the accompanying dipping sauce was a good complement. The Moroccan Lamb Couscous was a huge serving size and the sauce brought great flavor. The lamb was very tender. The chicken shawarma was OK. My biggest gripe is that I asked for "toom", a garlic paste served in Lebanese cuisine and the waitress had no idea what I was referring to.

Solid spot with good food and service, convenient spot for a preshow meal since it's located across from mccaw hall. We split a few things: - dolmades- served warm, the grape leaves were tender and rice was well seasoned -fattoush- one of the best I've had, well dressed and the pita chips added a nice texture contrast - combo plate- found the lamb and kafta to be a little over cooked, but the chicken was tender. The garlic sauce was great as the seasoning on the meat was on the subtler side. Overall food was a 3.5 but rounded up given the service and portion size-prepare to share or take home doggie bags...

Service was friendly and patient as we tried to make decisions and asked questions. I have a friend that kind handle chile spice due to medical condition they were very accommodating when it was needed by having certain sauces on the side. We shared a number of dishes and two bottles of wine. We started with the Hummus bil Lahm ou Snobar, my favorite dish of the evening a hummus with bubbling spiced lamb. Baba Ghanouj, Bisara Munir, Arnabeet, Alhalaioun and the chicken and beef Shish Taouk. Everything was delicious. Flavorful, the proteins were cooked perfectly nice and tender. One of our friends likes meat a lot and hadn't cause he thought it was a vegetarian restaurant. We had to have the green chile sauce on the side of the asparagus dish cause of my friend but that was ok we were putting it in other items we loved it so much. Also the whipped garlic that came with the chicken and beef was a big hit! We had never had Lebanese wine and enjoyed our selections. Love that it felt like a healthier meal with the vegetables and spreads. Didn't feel stuffed after but definitely satisfied. They even comped dessert for my friends birthday which I believe was an orange rose water pudding. Welcoming warm space. Parking is fairly easy on a Tuesday night. Looking forward to visiting again

Both were very flavorful and well balanced. Love the different textures. The roasted broccoli was OK, it was on the less cooked side The entree skewers were pretty good too. Shoutout to the kind service that let me combine and do half beef and half chicken because at the point I was too full from all the appetizers I ordered but still wanted to try both. One thing I really loved about the skewer is the sauces that came on the side: one tahini, one garlic, and one tomato. Such delicious sauces! Entrees were a little pricey though. Last but not least my party enjoyed the special Lebanese wine.

We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.

Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! This place is going into my regular rotation, for sure.

On one super rainy day, my partner and I were walking by and spontaneously decided to go up to the little window and get one lamb gyro the guy at the window, who I didn't know was the owner, looked at us weird and at first I was like ???? but after 5 min of prepping our order he calls us back to the window and hands us TWO gyros and says "you can't just get one! there are two of you! you won't feel full!" and he hands us both, one on the house I was so shocked it was so kind and unexpected of him. We ended up eating outside right under the window and 2 min later the owner walks out with a slice of bread and starts feeding the ducks outside the store. He told us that they're a couple and that they come by every year to lay eggs and they visit him every night for dinner during this time. He also told us that Cedars of Lebanon has been open for over 40 years and that it used to be so rowdy and exciting. So many people would gather around and spend time in his restaurant but now it's a lot quieter (I'm assuming this is because new, more novel places have been popping up on the Ave). I left this conversation so touched and full of love for this man, I genuinely wish him the best. Another customer in front of me must've been a regular because when the customer made conversation at the takeout window, I heard one of the workers go "We love you, John!!!"
