raspberry gelato
Nami A.

Such yummy gelato and such friendly people working there! I did not get to experience their crepes as they were still perfecting their recipe (I visited in June), but their raspberry gelato was so refreshing and a perfect balance of sweet and sour. The place itself feels a bit cozy and cramped, but there is outdoor seating surrounded by greenery, and it was just so pleasant to sit outside, eat some gelato, and enjoy the sun.

Pistachio & salted graham

The flavors here are delicious! They also have a few tables to sit at outside which is always nice on a pleasant day. I came on a Monday evening and there were quite a few people - we had to wait a bit to be helped since there was only 1 person working. They were nice to give samples of the gelato, and I tried a few. I knew this place was known for pistachio and theirs is great - really rich, nutty, and flavorful. I also got the salted graham which was the perfect graham cracker flavor! Portions are a little small for the price, but I do think the quality is there.

They're not lying when they say they have the best pistachio gelato in seattle! Tasted so fresh and nutty! The workers were also extremely patient and let us try each flavor which i really appreciated. We tried the pistachio, dulce de leche, and white chocolate. All 10/10!! Give this place a try, its worth it!!

Amarena cherry and chocolate caramel pretzel gelato (split scoop Italiano size)

I've lived in Fremont for 3 years, and most of that time has been spent waiting for this place to open. Boy was it with the wait! Although the hours don't seem to match what is entered into Yelp, a good bet is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. The owner allowed me to try several flavors and even recommended a few- all were delicious. They allow for split scoops, and the chocolate caramel pretzel and amarena cherry worked together beautifully- perfect textures and taste. The outdoor seating is cute and allows for canine companions, and the location is right across from a bus stop (along with being walkable from anywhere in Fremont). I'll definitely be back for their ever-evolving flavors.

TL;DR: A new gelato shop + cafe in upper Fremont that was years in the making (since 2018; opened up in 2025). The owner--Chris--is a master of gelato who creates unique flavors sometimes with hyperlocal ingredients. Chris is super generous, allowing you to sample all the gelatos and sharing the backstory for each. Definitely prioritize Marmalade as a must-go gelato shop in Seattle. If you're in the Fremont or Wallingford area, you must stop by. Chris is the owner. He's been working on this concept since 2018, and it's finally open in 2025! The wait was well worth it. The shop offers 6-8 different unique flavors of gelato that are hand crafted. One gelato used tea from the famous steam punk tea shop in downtown (Fremont). We had the vanilla and the rose cardamom: both had complex flavors that aren't easily found at other shops that use cheaper ingredients. We tried other flavors as well... all were common in that they had complex flavors that highlighted the quality of ingredients and preparation. Chris has an impeccable palette that results in complex flavors that he will encourage you to sample. During the sampling, he will tell you the backstory of each flavor and the flavor notes you should expect--amazing! The servings are more than generous, and the price point is very reasonable at $6-$8. The interior of the shop is cozy. There is some indoor seating; there will be outdoor seating for when the weather is a bit better. There's a large patio up front that you can also stand around, or make your way to BF Day park. Eventually, Chris mentioned there will be soups and crepes as well. If they're anything like the gelato, it'll be well worth your time.

Lovely location with twinkly lights hung outside of their tree over the patio. What a cute gelato shop. Reminds me of italian gelato, but not as creamy (I've been spoiled from my recent Italy trip!). But it's good enough for Seattle. Chocolate was my fav. Salted Graham was okay, but not mind blowing. They do let you taste before you select your flavor, so that was nice. Server was helpful and attentive to suggest first timers what flavors to try.

Jaipur Chai 1 scoop (rating: 5/5)

We came here after dinner at Lupo Pizzeria across the street. Even though it was almost 9 pm, there was a long line at the storefront. Wait was short despite the long line. The staff was very helpful and walked us through their most popular flavors, including the famous signature pistachio flavor. I asked for his personal recommendation then sampled Jaipur Chai and pistachio flavors based on that. Both were amazing. The Jaipur chai was stronger than most chai tea beverages I have had, and the pistachio flavor was so nutty that it tasted like pure ground-up pistachio. I ended up going with Jaipur Chai bc the aroma was hard to leave behind. Absolutely loved it and will be back for more creative high quality flavors! Oh, and they have vegan flavors as well!

Watermelon cucumber mint sorbet (small cup)

This is such a cute but hidden little gem! The decor is very whimsical and fun. The server was very kind and greeted me. They offered information about the gelato and some samples and chatted with me. The gelato itself was all delicious. It seems like they always have 3 or so options that are dairy free and several of the flavors rotate. The watermelon cucumber mint sorbet was super refreshing and tasty and the cup and spoon were both compostable! Highly recommend and will be back!

Good place to get gelato in Fremont. Cute cozy spot with outdoor seating. They have crepes on their menu that will be selling soon, I'd come back.

Excellent gelato, I would argue best in Seattle. The owner is incredibly friendly as well, just great vibes all around with this place.

When you do walk in here, you feel like you're in a fine-dining like area with dim lights yet it also has the feel of a cafe where you can sit and relax with whatever you get. Since one of my friends knew I haven't been here before for desserts, he decided to take me and out other friends here to try their gelato for the first time. I got a scoop of their marionberry swirl and had a taste of my bestie's salted caramel gelato. Both were really good though my marionberry had a lot more taste and wasn't as sweet as the salted caramel. Staff up front were very patient with us when we asked to try several of their flavors at once.

As you can see from my review years ago, when my hubs and I came back from a trip to Italy, we wanted to find a gelato shop that had the same quality as the shops in Rome. Not all the gelato and sorbetto we had in Italy was good, some flavors tasted artificial, and during our time there, we learned how to tell the good from the meh. When we returned to Seattle, we were happy to find great-Italy-like gelato at the Bottega Italiana in Green Lake. After that shop closed (still sad about that!) we started going to their other shop by Pike Place Market. For years, this place featured delicious, fresh, quality gelato and sorbetto that tasted like the flavors they were labeled with--so strawberry tasted like eating real strawberries and so on. But on a recent visit, I got a small cup with strawberry and raspberry-dragon fruit and the first flavor I got when I tasted it was sugar. As I ate more of it, it started to remind me of Jolly Rancher candies, not totally, but enough to turn me off. They use just enough fruit to make you believe it's the flavor that it's labeled with, but the amount of sugar and other things added makes their fruit flavors as meh as the not-so-good shops we learned to avoid in Rome. Alas, I think my favorite gelato shop in Seattle has fallen prey to profit over quality. Why, Bottega Italiana, why??? It makes me and my hubs very sad. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the service was friendly and efficient, and my hubs's dairy-based gelato flavors were all right--not great but all right. Over the years, we've tried all the other gelato shops in Seattle and none of them measure up either. I guess it's time we take another trip to Italy.

Eventually I walked toward the register and asked if I could get some help. One of the employees seemed annoyed to step away from the conversation. I ordered a sundae and asked for custom flavors: vanilla and salted caramel. What I got looked like chocolate and salted caramel instead. When I mentioned that I had asked for vanilla, she rolled her eyes and went back to chatting while I stood there waiting. Another employee eventually stepped in and remade it, but the sundae was missing the nuts. At that point I didn't feel like asking again, so I just left. The sundae itself was also pretty underwhelming compared with what I remember from when they first opened. Overall, the place feels like it has gone downhill a lot. It makes sense now why it was empty on a warm weekend evening, when this same spot used to have lines out the door.
