Yummy hand whisked matcha available in many flavorful combinations. Friendly staff and clean space. We ordered the dirty matcha, the mango matcha, and the strawberry shortcake matcha with almond milk. All 3 of us agreed the strawberry was the best. The mango was decent but not as flavorful. The dirty matcha was strong and fantastic. They have a few seats and WiFi.
1. This is our go to boba place. They freshly cook their boba and they have the right balance of chewiness are sweet but not too sweet. The quality of the drinks has been very consistent. 2. If you order Matcha or Hojicha (roasted green tea and my favorite) you can watch them make it to order. I like the Hojicha iced Americano with boba, the black sesame latte and the strawberry latte (they make their own strawberry purée) 3. The staff is always friendly and they have a good selection of milks. 2% or whole milk for the dairy folks. And soy, oat, almond or coconut for the nondairy folks.
Hands down, Atulea is my favorite tea and boba cafe in Seattle! It's the only boba cafe I know of that serves hojicha which is roasted green tea and I like it much more than matcha. My go-to is the Americano made with hojicha, served iced, with 25%-50% sugar (depending on how I feel), with boba added. I have been here numerous times and the staff are always friendly, nice, and efficient. The place is clean and cute. There's a window counter with high chairs and a small cafe table and two chairs outside. Not a lot of seating but since most people take their drinks to go, I've always been able to find a seat if I want to chill for a while. So far, I've brought my hubs and two different friends here, and everyone has enjoyed their drinks. If I had my choice, I'd make everyone meet me here for future meetups because I love it so much. Don't change, Atulea. Stay gold!
The matcha scene is growing quickly in Seattle, and Atulea has been on my list for a while. I finally stopped by on a rainy Sunday morning and was greeted warmly. Their menu is extensive, with everything from banana lattes to milk teas, classic teas, and rotating seasonal specials. I ordered the Sea Salt Creamy Matcha and it was delicious! Prices are a bit on the higher side, but pretty standard for Seattle. After tip the drink was just under $10. I also appreciate that they don't charge extra for alternative milks which was a nice touch. The café itself is quite small with about four bar stools, so I'm hoping they add more outdoor seating once the weather warms up. The pastries were already sold out during my visit, so I'll definitely be back to try one next time!
I found this spot just before heading to yoga. I was immediately attracted to the fact that they had an ube latte. It was cute and so clean inside. I ordered the ube latte hot and with whole milk. It was not too sweet and it was with ube jam which tasted just as good. The service was super friendly and on point. It was fast too.
Had really high expectations for this place. I ordered the strawberry matcha, the drink was super grainy and way too milky. I wanted to like Atulea but I've had better matcha at other places. The customer service was great and the interior is beautiful, just wish the drinks were as good as it looked.
Very cute spot, it was clean and has indoor seating and a bathroom. Staff was friendly and orders were made quick. I had the Ube Brownie Latte (Lizzy's) with hojicha and it was a great balance of not too sweet but just enough to hit the spot - it had a light chocolate and nutty flavor and it was perfect for the cold weather. Would definitely be back to try more of their drinks!
Surprised this place isn't more popular. I like it better than Aroom for "fun drinks" because the coffee and matcha itself is much better. We ordered a blueberry latte which has syrup they make themselves, as well as a black sesame matcha. Both excellent! Grab drinks and then head to green lake for a walk
Cute cafe serving Asian-inspired coffee/tea drinks right across the street from Ben's Bread. Drinks are in the $5-8 range, and they offer three unique shot options: espresso, hojicha, and matcha. We ordered the iced black sesame latte with hojicha and the iced strawberry latte with matcha, both of which were thankfully not too sweet! Added bonus that they make their jams (strawberry, banana, etc.) in-house. Only complaint was that the drinks were a little watery. Staff was kind and helpful, and service was quick! Note: Not a lot of seating for those looking for a work space.

Atulea solves one of the biggest problems of a boba lover: they open at 8am! Now you can get good milk tea as soon as you wake up. Their tea is nice and strong. The cheese top is the thickest and cheesiest I've ever had. Definitely above average quality drinks. Seating is limited here, but the service is not!
The tea and coffee have great flavors! Service was excellent and we go to ur drinks super quickly. They do have a small store front and parking was a little tough but super worth it! Will definitely be coming back.
Atulea might be the only place in the city you can get boba before 11AM. Note they open at 8, but the boba isn't actually ready for service until a bit past 10, at least according to the sign on the door. This shop seems to get pretty busy: while we were the only ones inside at 10AM, soon after we ordered, another 5 parties walked in. The bobarista was super friendly - we had a ton of questions and he was very patient with us. We eventually settled on two drinks: Black Sesame Latte, Iced, Hojicha, 2% Milk ($6.75) - Very strong black sesame flavor. The drink needs to be continuously stirred to distribute the ground sesame, otherwise it settles on the bottom and creates a heavily sesame flavored syrup on the bottom, and a roasty hojicha on the top. Then again, mixing it up makes the sesame flavor completely cover up the hojicha flavor, so perhaps it's okay to let it settle? Sweetness level is not too sweet for me, which is good. Full ice level is heavy on the ice. (4/5) House Milk Tea, 50% Sugar w/ boba ($6.50) - The barista warned us that the sweetness levels here are not nearly as sweet as a normal boba shop, and I can attest to that. At 50% sugar, it's less sweet than 25% sugar at the average boba place, which works well for me. This drink is just slightly sweet, mixed with a Yunnan tea that tastes a bit spiced, a little like cloves, cinnamon, cardamom. Based on the all the tea brewing machines I saw behind the counter, I thought the tea would be fresh brewed to order, but instead, I saw the barista take a pitcher of pre-mixed milk tea, then add some additional half and half, and a couple of squirts of sweetener syrup inside. I forgot to to ask for ice level adjustment, so there's a ton of ice included. The boba here is decent, especially for a shop that doesn't specialized in boba. It's a bit on the softer side, with a bounce that isn't that pronounced. The exterior is soft and velvety, but it doesn't seem like the boba is soaked in any syrup; it's not very flavorful at all. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 The drinks served at Atulea are pretty good! I'll have to revisit either here or the Capitol Hill location to try their matcha. Bathrooms - Single unisex
Overall: 4 stars Cute tea shop with so many intriguing menu items that speak to the Asian palette. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, and I wish I was in the area to try more of their drinks. Mango Sticky Rice - intriguing drink with all the ingredients to make for a tasty drink with fun tropical flavors; I think I'm looking for the flavors to be more concentrated because they are diluted when mixed together, so the flavorful mango slush for example is getting diluted by the coconut milk mixture and the overall blend becomes a watery slush. Stopped by Atulea and ordered an Ube Latte with Hojicha, which was really tasty and a fun flavor combination. The only downside was that it was a bit sweeter than I would have liked, and unfortunately sweetness can't be customized. At around $10 for a drink, it's definitely on the pricier side, which is the main reason for the 4 stars. That said, the space is incredibly cute and thoughtfully designed, and they have some fun merch as well. It's a lovely place to hang out and enjoy your drink. read more

ughhhhh NEW FAVORITE MATCHA SPOT i am obsessed!! ok so what makes atulea so special is that you can fully customize your drink OR choose from their incredibly creative specials (both options are serving so hard). the flavor combinations they come up with are inspired, unique, creative and you can tell there's real intention behind the menu. first visit i got the black sesame matcha with lychee jellies and it was HEAVENLY. the flavors, the texture, the balance chefs kiss mmm perfect. second visit i went with the ube matcha latte and mmm, so so good. rich and cozy and gorgeous. yes, it's a little on the pricier side. but the quality of the matcha and the creativity of the drinks make it feel completely worth every penny to me. this place is a gem and seattle is lucky to have it. read more

I had been eyeing the Phinney Ridge spot for Atulea's second location and awaited its opening. Finally, I had the opportunity to stop in on 2/17/24. It's getting a bit tough getting street parking on this stretch on Phinney Ave N - lots of nearby popular spots! I ended up selecting an iced hojicha milk tea without boba from a very upbeat counter person. Love the interior decor, natural light, and overall enthusiastic vibe. Nice addition to the Greenwood - Phinney Ridge north/south corridor. Lots of new spots opening around the same time frame as Atulea. I definitely appreciated the pronounced hojicha taste. Flavorful and refreshing. read more
So happy to have a bubble tea spot north of downtown, and a bit further west (not the U-district)! My go-to is the Black sugar hojicha oat latte (with boba). So good! Not THAT many places have hojicha so I'm happy that Atulea offers it. I love this drink so much that I rarely branch out but there are many other options! The staff is friendly and patient with questions. The space is bright and airy and very aesthetic, but there are only a few places to sit (at the counter facing the street). I'd recommend this as more of a grab and go type place. Also love that they sometimes host pop-ups (different small businesses offering food/dessert items) which is great! Love the collaborations and small businesses helping each other. My only minor points of feedback are: the matcha wasn't very strong the one time I ordered a matcha/black sesame drink. It just seemed a bit watered down. read more
PHINNEY RIDGE FINALLY GOT A BOBA/TEA SPOTTT!!! and the best part is...it's GOOD! Heres wussup: *all those fun latte options can be made with either matcha or espresso *all drink options (milk tea included) can be made with any of the alternative milks, free of charge. Sweetness is adjustable for all drinks too *boba becomes less of a eco-moral debate as they have reusable cups for sale, and all straws (boba ones too!) are compostable, cups are recyclable *staff was super knowledgeable and patient & helpful in my indecision The ube matcha had incredible flavor, and the lychee rose was floral and delicious. The only issue with this place is that I'm going to have to use the will of the good lordt to stop myself from going every day. Punch cards for a free drink every 10th lunch !! Limited seating, but the big windows clearly open up and I'm excited to stop in come warmer weather read more

Cutsie patootsie place here! So very enjoyable to stop at! I loved the drink. It was delicious and looked pretty! The service was fast and the people there were so nice! They have little things like tiny bags you can get that are made by one of the people who works there's mom. They have other little things you can get there. Very cute! I also loved the wall and the sign on the wall. Would recommend -Sophie age 13.9 read more

Atulea was so cute and clean! It has a slightly different aesthetic than their other location around First Hill, but I prefer this one a whee bit more! We tried their chuggachino latte and jasmine tea with matcha foam. The chuggachino latte wasn't the best I've had, but their jasmine tea with matcha foam was sooo good. I'd come back and get that. Service was so friendly and kind. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely make them my regular stop. read more

Excellent service and a great addition to greenwood- phinney. No other bubble tea boba places nearby and more coffee is always welcome. They specialize in matcha and cheese foam on your coffee. The staff is exceptionally friendly and genuinely kind- not the i have to compliment / make small talk with each other customer types. I tried the black sesame hojicha on their soft opening day. They were fas, made well with just the right amount of ice and good balance of flavors. My husband and I aren't matcha lovers, but this was good and we would likely try some of their other drinks- specifically the cheese foam. Go say hello and support a new business! read more

Went to Atulea's new location in Phinney Ridge! The one in Capitol Hill has never disappointed me, so I was looking forward to coming here while I was up north. This location was a bit smaller than the Capitol Hill one but I like how they have bar seating here. The aesthetic was BEAUTIFUL. I love their green neon sign! It was so unique. I got the Dirty Matcha and my wife got a Strawberry Matcha. We both enjoyed our drinks, the matcha quality at Atulea is unmatched. The drinks were reasonably priced for the quality you're getting. 10/10 Would definitely come back!! read more

I loveeee this place. First off it's super cute and in a nice area. Still easy to access with the link. The ambiance is nice and calming but limited seating to might be hard to study there. But matcha was sooo good. Mix it well and it's delicious. A bit on the pricier side but would deff go again! read more

Delicious strawberry matcha, not too sweet with enough flavor. The matcha is really nice quality and well incorporated, better than most! Ube matcha latte had more depth and more of a dessert drink compared to the light strawberry latte. Expensive but worth it! read more

Super great customer service. Got the strawberry matcha with oat milk and a grape oolong tea with crystal boba. Both very delicious. Only downside is it's pretty expensive, seems like the type of thing you treat yourself to every once in a while. read more
