We stopped by just to grab drinks to go before heading to the parade, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Oasis' huge space is now occupied by Sweet Alchemy's night time bar Elixir which shares the space with Grean in the morning! I've followed Grean since their pop ups and they've maintained their quality well. Oat milk is available at no extra charge (priced in). Tons of seating. Open early (but also closes early, to switch to Elixir). Free wifi available. Cozy space, music not too loud, matcha not too sweet. Solid spot to work. Friendly service with matcha whisked directly in the front. No tablet or kiosk here, but also a small enough menu to order promptly upfront. Matcha Cheese Top - their 12oz drinks are definitely pricey but somewhat normal in today's society. Matcha is whisked well, extremely smooth. Great umami flavor with grassy notes. This place is amazing! I mean just look at that color green!!! They whisk your matcha when you order so it is nice and dark green, slightly frothy, and prefectly earthy. I did needed to add just a little simple syrup though, but it's easily accessible and right where you get straws so you don't have to bother the baristas for some, though, the staff was very nice despite how busy they were. There is AMPLE seating here, and seems like it's a poppin place to hang out or study. Because they hand which the matcha to order, I wouldn't stop here if you're in a rush. Smells weird in here. It's a huge space so plenty of students were gathered in groups and hanging out at tables. I asked the barista for recommendations and he suggested the specials so I got the banana bread matcha. 12oz iced matcha with no oat milk charge, though it came close to $10 so it's definitely pricey. I'll admit I was expecting a bit more of a presentation for the matcha or at least see any hint of banana but no I think they used a banana bread syrup and not a pudding or fresh fruit. The matcha tasted watery and there was so much ice in the 12oz cup that it took me just a few gulps to finish the drink. I was excited to try this new matcha spot on the Ave, but it was a disappointment across all fronts. Sharing a space with elixir dessert bar (Grean from 8am-2pm, elixir from 2pm onwards), Grean sells matcha and hojicha drinks, and some Asian pastries and cookies from Kemi's dessert bar. I ordered the matcha Jasmine oat latte (no extra charge for oat milk), which cost me just under $9. Pricy. It was approximately 60% ice and the matcha was gritty. When I finished my latte, there were clumps of matcha stuck on the bottom of the cup. Disappointing. My friend ordered the pandan honeycomb cake, which he said was mid. My other friends matcha latte with regular milk was overly sweetened, which masked the matcha flavor. I've tried Kemi Dessert Bar before, and I don't like their treats either. Plus $5 for a cookie is pretty high. Wifi is supposedly free, but it doesn't work. However, it is within the range of the UW WiFi, so you can still access the internet, but it's not thanks to Grean. The store is very loud, both downstairs and upstairs, as the space is large and a lot of students seem to enjoy studying here. It's not a place I would go to concentrate. One positive I will mention is that they have a wheelchair lift up to the second floor, which I don't commonly see in cafes. Parking is tough as always in the udistrict. With so many great matcha shops in the city, Grean isn't one I would recommend or come back to again. read more

Grean took over the old Oasis boba shop (iykyk) with another dessert bar. Matcha is available until 2 PM. I saw people ordering their matcha basque cheesecake. It looks pretty legit. They sift their matcha and hand whisk every order, so there's no clumps in my drink at all. The oat milk they use is califia's cafe oat, and you don't get charged extra for it. I'm very glad they don't use minor figures because I can't stand that oat milk. I'm a huge fan of the gorgeous green you get. Not pale. Not yellow. The default sweetness is just right for me, but there's a simple syrup you can add if it's not sweet enough. Drink takes a bit to come out, but considering how much the 2 staff were whisking away, not bad at all. A simple matcha latte is around $8.50. Pretty standard in Seattle. The look of the store is definitely an upgrade from the old Oasis, but somehow it still has that funky smell like the old Oasis. It's not a place to study quietly unless you have some noise canceling headphones, but it's definitely a good spot to chat and spill the tea ;) Would definitely return if I'm in the area again! read more

I was cutting it close when I got here on a Sunday at 1:30pm just a half hour before this place transitions to Elixir Dessert and Bar. That's on top of dealing with the strenuous parking situation around the UW area and then walking here, so I essentially got here 10 more minutes than I mentioned. You will come into a two-story area that feels much larger than it needs to be with blank walls and incomplete floor finishes but looks perfect for working and using their WiFi in. There's also those long tables that people use for their laptops like you see at places like the Harry Potter room and Aroom. It's pretty noisy inside though, and sound reverberates through the interior easily. I came here for their matcha which is prominent throughout their small menu, though they do also serve hojicha drinks, and some desserts from Kemi Dessert Bar are in a display case on the side of the counter. All drinks are iced and in 12oz size according to that same menu, and you can sub oat milk at no charge. It is a menu for their winter 2026 soft opening and we're past winter right now, so I wonder what their grand opening will be like. Staff at the front are seen whisking matcha and making drinks. The server at the front was patient and also informative with me when I finally decided on their banana bread matcha. It is your gold standard ceremonial matcha with their house banana bread syrup, which they have as brown sugar and cinnamon in parentheses next to their description on that menu, which i found odd. From a first look, it looks like the drink is completely matcha, with a small white foam near the top which I'm guessing is part of the house syrup. When I drank this, the syrup had already permeated through the whole drink... and it was tasty! It doesn't have anything special like small banana or toffee bits to enhance the drink, yet their syrup carries a strong banana taste without having any of those visually present. That is to say, presentation looks like I got a regular matcha latte, yet one that compensates heavily with a flavor profile that is exactly as advertised. I probably wouldn't come here to do work or hang out much since this place gets very full on both floors, and it's not likely I'll come back to this iteration of this location as often because of the early closing time of 2pm but this one experience was very satisfying. read more

I think this place nails the matcha intensity if these sweet drinks while having a great unique flavor. So happy there's another new matcha place! TL;DR: Great strawberry jasmine oat milk matcha (and regular matcha). It's a little sweet but you can ask for slightly less, and I wish they put a little less ice as I finished my drink very quickly. I try matcha everywhere I go and just recently got back from a trip to NYC where I had matcha every day and this place honestly outperformed the matcha I had there. Jasmine matcha is more interesting IMO then what I've been having and they really tried to discourage me and my sister from getting oat milk instead of 2%, but since we're lactose intolerant we still had to get oat but it tasted great anyway. I also got a strawberry matcha and it wasn't too sweet in my opinion compared to some places who overload with very jammy, sweet strawberry or syrup. It's a huge place and looks like it would be good for coworking or studying. Workers were friendly and everyone was dressed nice. They do close pretty early- they share the space with another place called Elixir. I did think it was pretty rude of the Elixir workers to reach over me without saying anything out of nowhere and put their menu in front of us 10 minutes before Grean was swapping and then walk away. Beautiful, delicious, amazing new matcha spot on the ave! I had a pleasant experience visiting Grean which took over the old Oasis unit on the ave. I really love what they did with the space! The ambiance and vibes in the store are very relaxing and cozy- I could absolutely see myself studying or working remotely from this cafe. There is plenty of seating although it can be quite busy as it is a cafe in the U-District. Their matcha quality is great! I got the matcha latte which was pleasant, and have even returned to try their matcha with pandan top and matcha with cheese top. I thought the matcha paired very well with the pandan. I wish the cheese top had more of a cheesy taste but texture was great. The employees here are extremely friendly and quick as well! The employee Emily was very helpful in giving recommendations.
