12-22-2022 Thank you Mark for coming to the rescue. My heater stopped working and believe it or not--it has been chilly in San Diego. Mark came over late afternoon on 12-21-2022 and by late afternoon the next day I had a New Heater. First he took a look if the heater could be repaired (it was over 30 years old). Our AC stopped working for no apparent reason this summer. We called Mark as we noticed some of our neighbors have used him and recommended him through the Nextdoor App. He was able to come the same day, he was very polite and seem very honest with his diagnosis. He did the cleaning of our AC for $120, I thought it was a little high as we always pay $80-90 for it. Not a big deal we should have asked for pricing before he came over. He inspected the AC, told us there as a leak he needed to seal and refill the refrigerant because it was empty. He gave us the pricing for the dye he needed to apply to seal the leak and the price per pound for the refrigerant. An additional $320 (estimated) aside from the cleaning fee. Over $440 for "repairing" the AC. I decided to have a second opinion as the AC is only 2 yrs old and it shouldn't be having leaks. We called the company that installed the unit, they came over and we told the technician what Mark had told us about the leak. He inspected the unit and told us there was no leak in the unit and the refrigerant was full (physically showed ya the pressure level) and he wasn't sure why we were told it needed to be refilled and that there was a leak. He headed to the attic and the problem was the insulation to the coil that had a blockage, he repaired at no cost. Bottom line, i gave 2 stars because he was nice and polite. I don't think I would recommend him as he was trying to make over $300 to "fix" something that wasnt there. He checked the levels of refrigerant and told us it needed refilled when it was actually full. Maybe an honest mistake? Or maybe not. read more

A friend of mine came to visit me yesterday during what turned out to be right smack in the middle of a major HVAC crisis. I was seriously panicking because the mini-split in one of my vacation rentals was blowing only hot air (P6 error message) and although this is October, we are still hitting temperatures in the high 70s, and humid. I've only had the mini split a little over a year and a couple hours previously had asked my (exceptionally resourceful) handyman if he could figure out what was wrong and how to fix it, but he ended up telling me that the product was from Mexico and the Owner's Manual has no English translations and it was way out of his league! That's when the panic set in (as well as the regret for using a budget mini split installer...) I have nothing but 5-star reviews on my rentals, am booked solid, and had a guest checking in. Next thing I know my friend was on the line with Mark from Mark's Heating & Air, asking me what the zip code was. This was a Saturday evening... and apparently Mark was on his way over...!! I am not religious but noticed I was silently praying to the HVAC gods that this Mark person would be up for the challenge. Super nice guy just materialized in my driveway 20 minutes later and next thing I know is he is STANDING on the top edge of my wood fence, which must be 12 feet high! Up until that moment I had not even considered the fact that this was a 2nd story apartment and I had all of the mini splits mounted on the outside walls, way up high... Add to that there's only a 2-foot walkway between my building and our fence... In hindsight, perhaps that mounting decision was a bit ill-conceived! All I know from there is that Mark did a bunch of magic while balancing like a tight rope walker, which took a bit of time and effort to work through, figured out the problem, and now I don't have a problem anymore!!! So then as I thanked him (profusely...!) I asked if I could make an appointment for him to come back and service all of the units to which his reply was sure, but that he was currently booked out 2 weeks! Right there my massive pile of gratitude instantly doubled. I now have a permanent addition to my property management team, right alongside the electrician & handyman I have been using for years who now have become personal friends of mine. I admire and am attracted to people who simply get things done, whatever it takes they will figure it out. Mark is that kind of guy. read more

Another great experience with Mark. He's honest and does a great job at a fair price. Sounds easy, but not easy to find. He did a great job for us! We had a quote from another very well known, long-standing company in San Diego to get a quote for them to clean our air ducts. They came out and said we needed a new furnace and a/c. It was time as the system was 30 years old and on its last legs, so we got a quote for the furnace and a/c from them just to see what it would be. It was almost double Mark's price!! My AC went out on one of our hottest days. I called Mark at about 745 PM and he was at my home by 8 or 8:10. After telling him what I was experiencing he knew exactly what it was. He removed a part and installed a new one and I had AIR! Took about 30 minutes. Even his price was great. I would recommend him to anyone and will use him for all my AC and heater needs. It was a rooftop unit and Mark put a quote together for us and I was amazed at how reasonable the price was. We accepted the quote and Mark kept me abreast of everything throughout the process. Our new unit was installed today and I want to thank Michael Baumgartner and Max Bea for working so hard for most of the day to remove the old unit and put the new one in. They ran into a problem so they had to replace some sheet metal before they could get the new unit up and running but they were "on it" and got everything done and cleaned up very promptly. The additional work added to the total cost of the job but it was still a great price and much less than other quotes that I had gotten.
