It's become a long, hot summer here in North San Diego, so thank goodness we contacted Comfort Bros this past spring to service our air-conditioning system. Even though our AC unit is relatively new, I believe preventive maintenance is important, and we wanted to make sure everything was operating properly before the hot and humid weather arrived. Their technician was knowledgeable, courteous, professional and very friendly, and we were so pleased with the service that we contacted Comfort Bros again the following month to service our water heater. One seemingly small detail that really impressed me: the technicians put shoe coverings on before walking through our home without my even having to ask. We have black granite floors that show practically every speck of dust and dirt, along with light-colored carpeting, so I really appreciated that level of conscientiousness and respect for our home. Bonus points from me for hygiene and cleanliness! During the second visit, they also performed a whole-house inspection and were proactive about letting us know about things we might want to keep an eye on or consider servicing in the future. I appreciated that approach because I'd much rather know about a potential issue early and possibly prevent a larger, more expensive problem down the road. Both of our experiences with Comfort Bros have been excellent. They've been responsive, highly professional, respectful of our property, and thorough in getting the job done, all at what I felt was a reasonable price. We lost our AC the week of the hottest temperatures in San Diego!! This company has been attentive to our needs from the beginning. The diagnostic technician Tyler was great! He was professional, efficient, and so kind! And he went out of his way to jump on a cancelation so we could get our new AC installed ASAP! And then the installer Ruben was awesome in getting the work done quickly and efficiently. He let us know after a few hours that his partner had an emergency and needed to leave but would take care of us. A few days ago I booked an appointment online to have our existing mini-split serviced and to get an estimate on installing 3 new ones. Yesterday I waited 9 hours for them to come and no one showed up or called. I reached out to their customer service and was assured someone would call right away to make this right. No one ever called. Then I get a text message saying my appointment was rescheduled for today an noon. Then, right on the heels of that text, I get an another text saying they're not coming because they don't service mini-splits they didn't install. I could have gone with other company but this one strung me along, cost me a week of lost time in the midst of this heat wave, then bailed out. Needless to say, they won't be installing my 3 new mini-splits. read more

While our service tech Cole was very nice and personable all 3 times he came to our house, I can't in good conscience recommend Comfort Bros. After spending 4.8k in replacing parts and repairs we were informed that we had a leak and the recommendation was to replace the outdoor and indoor cooling unit. The furnace was fine. First quote was 12.9k and then the lead, Josh or Jake, knocked off almost 1.6k for previous work so the final quote was 10.4k We decided to shop around and got 2 quotes from local businesses and both of them told us we'd pay more for Comfort Bros because we're paying towards the larger overhead and the cost of their advertising. Both of the quotes came in at least 4k lower with the same equipment. Both companies also told us that the parts that Comfort Bros previously replaced (fan/blower for 3.5k) was under warranty. In the state of California it doesnt matter who installed it, any company could replace on that 10yr warranty. We went with the 3rd company, got a better unit, and added a mini split while still coming in a few thousand under the 10.4k we nearly paid Comfort Bros. Do your research friends, it literally pays to take the time to get a few professional quotes! read more

Their service was great, uniquely offered rebuilding only part of my HVAC that had failed, and was half the price of ASI and Allegiant. I wanted a new HVAC company and agreed to book a regular service based on a special offer this company advertised. With a booking window from 8 am to 5 pm, and since I don't work that close to my home, I needed to set aside and reschedule an entire day to ensure I could meet the service tech. What I got was no less than THREE rescheduled notices THE DAY OF the appointment. I completely understand there is a heat wave and people with no HVAC are the priority, but cancelling the day of is unacceptable. Worse, however, is the fact that the second time this happened to me I was promised I would be put on the "Do Not Reschedule" list and would be serviced no later than 9 am the morning of my (third) appointment. I called at 8:15 am to confirm and was told dispatch would call me right back. I received no call but another automated text around 9:15 am saying I was cancelled, AGAIN. No apologize, no call, nothing. I am done with comfort brothers and the supervisor I spoke to did not have much to add. Indeed at first she claimed it was due to the heat wave, then said my service tech had called out sick. Regardless, this company makes promises it cannot keep, and I want/need a company with more integrity. I would not book this company unless you are prepared for the runaround. read more

Fast talking... beware. Very nice, personable but I feel cheated. Fridge stopped working. Igor's diagnosis was the 60 year old electrical outlet should be changed but. For $299 he would try the extension cord in the outlet 3 feet away. Sure enough, the extension cord worked and off he went. He said I wouldn't know how to restart the fridge. The electrician plugged the fridge into the original outlet and off he went. so for a total $400 my fridge works and there's nothing new. read more

We found Comfort Bros overall to be a very positive experience. We wanted to take advantage of their advertised promotion to have our a/c checked out/tuned up. We can't remember the name of the first technician that came out and did a very thorough inspection, providing us with lots of photos of our unit and ducting (Jake or John??). He was very kind and communicative. We knew our unit was very old and most likely needed to be replaced, so we were not surprised when that was recommended; however, he was not at all pushy about it, which we appreciated. We decided we wanted to move forward with obtaining more info about replacing our ac unit, and they were able to get someone back out to our house later that same day (Joshua). Joshua was also super helpful and gave us a couple of options as far as ac units, etc. Again, we never felt pressured at all to move forward or to pick one option over the other. We made the decision to move forward and get a whole new ac and new duct work, and they were able to make an appointment for four days later. They let us know it would take two days for the work to be completed. The first day, two guys came out to remove the old unit and old ductwork (Johnny and Christian). Both were very respectful of our home, friendly, and hard workers. The second day, only Johnny showed up stating his partner had called in sick. It was so very hot that day, but Johnny never complained. He worked all day, close to 10 hours by himself, in order to finish the job that day, which we greatly appreciated. During the installing of the new unit, Johnny let us know that the opening up into our attic was too tight and he would need to create a bigger opening and stated that they would fix anything needed - he asked first, which we appreciated, and we agreed it was okay. However, this is the only part of our experience that was less than optimal. Our unit install was completed on a Wednesday. My husband had to call the office twice to find out when someone was coming out to fix the opening that had been created during the install. The first time my husband was told they would make a note and someone would call us. We waited a week and no one called. My husband called again and then that day someone called us back same-day. That contractor was very communicative and came out to look at what needed fixing and then let us know when he would be back. It is now fixed and looks great. We were just a little disappointed that we had to kind push for the follow-up on that. We feel that since Comfort Bros caused the "damage" to our ceiling, we shouldn't have been the ones to have to call twice to get the ball rolling on getting it fixed. We were also told that someone from Comfort Bros would be following up "in a few weeks" to come and check/adjust the dampers if needed and bring gravel to put under the AC unit outside but we have not received a follow-up call about scheduling that --- and our install was completed over three weeks ago. Our ac feels great, no complaints there -- and we don't know how important it is to have gravel under the unit, so we haven't called back to ask about that yet. Price-wise, we spent what we were expecting for a brand new ac unit and brand new ductwork, although we did not shop around so we can't really give a good comparison there. We just felt very comfortable with Comfort Bros from the beginning and we appreciate their professionalism and getting the job done on time, etc. Definitely would recommend checking them out for your AC needs. read more

RUN!!!!! Called based on good reviews. First time we had any trouble with our ac unit during heat/humidity wave last summer. Turned system off for an hour and it came back on no problem. Wanted to have a company check just to make sure there wasn't a major problem. Provider came out and told me we had a leak, told me we could either use stop leak and refill (50/50 chance) or replace entire system for almost 16k. He said they were closed over the weekend, so if we waited, and it went out again, and we would be miserable. I chose the stop leak thinking it was worth a shot. Paid almost 2 grand for the stop leak and refill (less than an hour if labor for $200 with of materials). I asked him specifically if the stop leak would cause any additional problems. He assured me it would not. That was a lie. To our surprise, the system went out again the very next day. We had another company come and switch the capacitor on the unit. Had no problems for several months. They came out to look at the system, one more time as they had set up with the original service and again told me that I needed an entire new system and now it was a hazard to run. After having multiple other companies come out and look at the unit the major red flags they shared were: - they never actually looked for the leak just added stop leak. - Upon the return, they also told me that they were able to see fluorescent colors indicating that there was an actual leak. Other companies said they could not find the fluorescent colors they were describing. And that those stay on indefinitely. I emailed the company and asked them to evacuate the system with a stop leak and weigh the charge to see if they had overcharged it. They didn't even respond. End of the day- swapped our compressor and have a perfectly running AC system for less than 3k. RUN from this company! read more

Cole what's the technician that came out and he is very personable and did a great job checking my air conditioner and giving it the summer tuneup..... this is the company that put the HVAC in originally a year ago and it's worked very well and their service is excellent. Value wise I think it's crazy how much HVAC's have gone up in price, however, they were slightly less expensive than some other companies that I looked at when I was re-searching to buy the HVAC. read more

Called them for service after receiving a frendly flyer. A woman, a not to receptive individual, answered the phone. Had to repeat my email address 3 times before she hung up on me. I should have known right then. She called back and I finally made an appointment anyway. She quoted me $69 for the visit, then it jumped to $129. After I reminded her of the original quote, It was $69. So I waited on site for 6 hours in the heat for the "tech" to show. Now it's 4:15pm. The system was checked and as I had found a week ago there was a coolant leak. So I waited 6 hours in the heat, and spent $69 to be told what I already knew. It gets better. That "tech" was ill equiped (not even a leak detector) to make the repair, and that I had to make another appointment for the guy with the right tools to actually make the repair. I was never told that the initial visit would not yeild a repair. Afterward I went rounds with their front office,they insisted that the whole non repair was my fault, but for $2300+ they could make everthing better, bribed me with the refund of the $69 fee not to write this review. Sound like a confession of guilt to me. Do yourself a BIG favor, call some one else. PS: They will record your call without notice (why?), which is illegal. read more

Love the fact you can text this company regarding any hvac issues with a fairly quick response time. They also send you updates on appointments and let you know when the tech is on the way to your place. Josh came to inspect a continuous running fan issue in our hvac system. He was very patient and friendly to my crazy dogs upon entering the house. Found the problem quickly and explained in simple terms what the issue was (luckily a quick fix!) We had a great experience with Cole at Comfort Bros. We responded to their late summer promo mailer for a $29 A/C Inspection and tune-up. Our initial contact by phone was with Jason who was impressively competent, friendly, and professional. They scheduled us within a day or two for Cole to come out. He texted us ~20 minutes before his arrival and they send you a link that lets you track as he gets closer to your house (nice touch that we hope other contractors adopt!). Cole was the epitome of thorough professionalism and friendliness. He took his time communicating exceptionally well with us both before and after he cleaned and tuned up our AC unit and took many pictures documenting what our unit looked like before and after his efforts. Based on our experiences with Cole we signed up on the spot for their $99/yr. VIP membership program which includes 1 A/C tune up and 1 heater inspection and maintenance visit each year. At those great prices, we thought they might suggest upgrading our HVAC system and Electric panel which they did but we were already considering that. After thorough evaluation of their quote and 4 or 5 others for the Electric Panel replacement and wiring we did find their prices significantly higher than other highly-rated licensed competitors though so we went with a different company. Their initial quote on a new HVAC system also seems high to us, but we have not yet done full due diligence on that as we will need to back burner it until we complete our more urgently needed Electrical work and hopefully save a bit more money. The 5-star rating is for the professionalism of everybody associated with the company, and especially the services we received from Jason and Cole. We will update the rating if we do eventually decide to go with them for our HVAC replacement. read more

They refused to even give me an estimate as they wanted to come out only to give pricing. I would avoid companies like this. My AC was motor was running but cool air wasn't coming out. I mentioned to the tech, Matthew, that I had a panel upgrade recently. It didn't take long for him to go to the panel and to see how much power the unit was receiving. He determined that the electrician did not wire the circuit correctly so the compressor was not turning on. Matthew also did a courtesy assessment of my system and made suggestions. Instead of paying the service call fee, he convinced me to sign up for the membership and the very next day, Cole came and flushed my tankless water heater. I was actually planning to do that myself but it was good to watch a professional do it first. The electrician came by about two weeks later and quickly determined that the circuit was wired wrong so I'm glad Matthew was right. All the HVAC companies my neighbors had recommended all had a handful of bad reviews so I took a chance in doing my own research and am very glad I found these guys as they were very professional and did not try to convince me to replace my current AC system. read more

Cole came out for a complimentary tune-up. He took apart the furnace and said there were cracks, we were leaking carbon monoxide from the cracks and if we used our heater, we were at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. He told us it would be best to purchase an entirely new furnace at $7,000. He told us he would need to shut off the gas to the furnace per the government rules because of the CO leak. We were unable to use our furnace to heat the house that night. It was a very cold night and my six-month-old was freezing through the night. I couldn't sleep I was so worried. A more reputable company came out today to check all the parts. No leaks. He checked the furnace and ALL our vents for carbon monoxide. NO LEAKS. I will be calling SDGE to come and do a complimentary carbon monoxide scan as well. Shame on Cole and this company for their predatory practices to try to make a buck. They came out for a "complimentary" tune-up. Scared me with FALSE claims, turned OFF the gas to our furnace, and told us that fixing it would cost $7000. Unconscionable what some people will do for money. read more
