I can't thank enough to Carter and Air starting from Krystle, Chad, Bill, Alex and Trevor for doing a tremendous job in placing our new electric AC/heater. They are very efficient, great customer service and easy to deal with. I got a quote from them and the following week, they got it done. I got 3 other quotes from different local companies but they have the best deal. I would recommend them. Hands up this company specially to the names mentioned above! read more

Carter replaced my old furnace years ago and was heppy with their work. I just, this week, had Carter Heat & Air replace my thirty year old AC. There crew was top notch. Billy, Trevor and Chad were very professional and enjoyable to work with. I noticed a strange sound in the drain of my front bathroom sink, after they left. I called Crystal and told her. Later that day at 6:30 pm, Trevor came and fixed the problem. I couldn't be any happier with the work and responsiveness. I would recommend them to anyone needing work. read more

OMG, I was referred to Carter by a very trusted friend. My mini split was not cooling. I called and got a very cheery Crystal on the line. I explained my issue, she knew immediately what I needed. An appointment was set for the following day. Samuel arrived, nicest guy ever, took the time to listen to my whining.. and did a full inspection. Samuel showed me pictures and explained everything he was going to do to fix the issue. I am now sitting in my ice cold house and loving it...thank you Carter. I will use you forever as well as for all of my clients HVAC needs. Do yourself a favor, call Carter Heat and Air. read more

It's been too long without writing a review of Carter Heat & Air. My fault! We always hope for the best when calling for service on systems in your house. But it's really rare (in my experience) when a service company not only exceeds every expectation but continues to year after year. Krystal is incredible and her attention to follow up and personal communication is the best I've experienced. My system is not new but we did have a new Ecobee thermostat installed a few years back. Huge fan of this company and I'd recommend to anyone! They installed it easily and works (worked haha) perfectly until we had an accident in the attic (by no fault of theirs) that damaged the wire leading to the thermostat. Billy shot right over and diagnosed the issue due to his electrical smarts (and that he can fit up in my attic the size of a mouse trap). Sorry Billy. With old houses and older units, like ours, sometimes rewiring can be really difficult and many times not the best solution. Which was the case in our situation. Instead, the best fix for the wiring issue, was no wiring at all. Thank you technology! Billy suggested installing a wireless remote transmitter on the furnace that could talk to my favorite Ecobee thermostat. Simple solution to an old house problem. The system is up working properly now and it was all done quickly and with no stress. How many times can you say that with a non functioning system in an old house! From the techs and their attention to detail and Krystal and her epic work and customer support, they have my business for life. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want a more detailed account of my experience with Carter Heat & Air. They 100% deserve a huge shoutout! read more

Getting service downtown can be a challenge nowadays but these guys were very responsive to fix the issue and not add on a bunch of stuff. Carter was extreme melt professional and prompt. I literally called them in the morning, had a technician out that day, Crystal from their office was a delight and is connected here in east county to the community. I had plenty of options to choose from to fix my AC problem and ultimately I decided to change my unit. A group was out at 6AM ready to work in the morning. The install was quick and seamless. read more

Excellent! I called for an A/C repair and a tech was on my doorstep in less than an hour. The tech had it repaired and running again within 15min. I appreciate the expedient and professional service. I found Carter Heat & Air scrolling through Yelp. They live up to their reputation. I will keep their number handy. read more

Had over 9 bids for HVAC. The owner, Chad, came and did the quote himself (of the other 8 only one other owner came). I prefer to do business with small business because the bigger companies always pass on overhead to the consumer. His install team were professional. The install took longer than expected due to attic space issues but he didn't come back and try to up the price. Communication was great. When he found an issue he promptly notified me and gave me different options on how to proceed. Recommending this company to our neighbors who are searching for an HVAC company. read more

If I could give a ZERO, I would. We scheduled an appointment to get a quote on installation of central AC at a home we are purchasing in La Mesa. I explained we had a limited time window where we had access to the home during our home inspection. Crystal confirmed this window assuring me Chad would be early as he was doing another quote just around the corner. We'll, he never showed during that window and an hour later, I called Crystal and got a song and dance that he was delayed with an elderly client who needed more time. I explained the sellers were waiting in the driveway to get back in their home. She promised to contact Chad and give me an update on his ETA. That's about the time they stopped answering their office and mobile phones and responding to text messages both from my number and my realtor's. If you want to be completely underwhelmed by people who over promise, under deliver and are just plain inconsiderate, definitely give Crystal or Chad a call. Perhaps they will get back to you... read more

They did my Apt. HVAC; Josh was the Foreman for the removal and install of a Central HVAC unit was very helpful and understanding to my needs; his staff answered all my questions and because of covid all wore face masks. I was referred to Carters Heat and Air by a good family friend. I needed to get my heater checked out as it was no longer working. Unfortunately, Andy was a no call/no show. Of course the 20 year old a/c unit died during the hottest couple days of the year here in La Mesa. Owner Chad Carter came over the next business day (with face mask for Covid safety) to take a look. We got 3 proposals and the one from Carter to replace a/c and furnace was the best price and most energy efficient of all bids. The Carter crew consisted of Ryan and Cory who went above and beyond making sure the installation was perfect. They were polite, kept things tidy and seemed to gladly work long hours to get it done. Plus they were nice to our special needs son. Chad came by the day after installation to answer all our questions and make sure the unit was operating as expected. He even got on the phone with tech support to make sure our smart thermometer apps were on line. We highly recommend Carter A/C. Competitive pricing, reliable and professional. It feels good to help a local business owned by an honest young man with a great business ethic. Give them a call if you need A/C or heat service. read more

Setup appointment never showed up or called. Called left message they never called back

Fantastic service, extraordinarily comprehensive with excellent communication. Pointed out a potential problem so I could have sealant added by roofer for flashing and examined all of system. The team did a great job with our mini-split install! They were responsive on the phone, showed up when they said they would, and completed the installation successfully. It was not easy to run the tubing through our tight crawl space, but they pulled it off! It's been a couple months, and the air conditioner is working great. I would recommend this team for your HVAC install. The only reasons this wasn't a 5-star review: 1. During the installation, the crew accidentally damaged our interior floorboard. When we pointed it out, they were able to hook us up with (and pay for) a contractor to repair the damage. 2. The initial proposal was glossy, but the pricing was not competitive (higher than the other 2 bids for same or similar equipment). Carter matched the price (and longer warranty period), which is awesome. However, it means the initial proposal wasn't intended to be best & final. read more

Carter replaced the furnace and installed new duct work in our house; the work was done quickly at a reasonable price and we are very happy.

On this past Saturday, our 'like new' HVAC unit (purchased home here Aug 2018) began heating our home instead of cooling! We went with Carter as we are new to the area and paid attention to the good reviews. We were not disappointed; Nick was our technician and came at the time he said, looked and conducted himself professionally upon arrival. Repaired a loose wire, did well needed maintenance and the price was MORE than fair!! Carter's will be our HVAC business from now on in our 'forever' home. Best Regards, S & V Smith read more

Tommy, Artie, and Josh were excellent, top to bottom. They arrived right on time, did excellent work, and answered any questions we had along the way. Even the calls we put into their helpful office staff were answered by an actual human being (not a recording) and helped us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. We inquired and got quotes from many places, including the big box stores, and let me save you some time: You won't get better quality nor a more affordable price than with Carter. Top-notch. 5 star all the way! read more

I had a great experience with Carter Heat & Air! I got an air conditioning unit installed in my house and they did an outstanding job. Tommy was great and very personable! He was knowledgeable, reasonable and made sure we would get the total package. I got a quote super fast and the installation wasn't much later after that. The installation team was great and everything was neat and clean. Even Crystal from the office was super nice. I was having difficulties with the bank making such a large charge on my card, but she was awesome, understanding, and helpful. They put all new duct work in and vents and the thermostat is all high tech and cool! The unit works great and now my house is nice and cold! I feel so spoiled now! No more hot, miserable summers in this house! Thanks everyone! read more

The team did an amazing job. They installed an all new system, new ductwork and worked their butts off. Highly recommend them.

My review is about their diagnosing of my Amana HVAC system. They are listed as an authorized dealer for installation and repair of Amana HVAC systems on Amana's website. They came out on time and spent two separate days diagnosing why my Amana HVAC was not blowing cold. I was provided two estimates. One for replacing a compressor $3500.00 and one for replacing the whole condenser $6300 as my options to fix my problem. The reason for 1 star is I decided to get a second opinion from another company. This other company came out on a Saturday and had my system up and running in 3 hours. Turned out the system had slightly low refrigerant, a couple of blown fuses and the wiring was not connected correctly. My system has been up and running now for 2 weeks and it only cost me $450 to repair. With this said my review is solely based on the mis diagnosis and not installations of an Amana HVAC system. I would not recommend this company for diagnosing your system. read more
