We wanted to take the time to leave a detailed review for SSHC (Straight Shooter Heating & Cooling) because of the exceptional customer service and professionalism we experienced from our very first phone call through the successful installation of our brand-new HVAC system. What made our experience especially noteworthy is that we weren't replacing a system that had completely failed. Our previous HVAC system was installed in 2000 and had remarkably served us for more than 26 years without any major repairs. It was still functioning--our heating and air conditioning worked when we needed them, there were no apparent leaks, and the ductwork appeared to be sealed based on what could be examined. However, after more than two and a half decades, it was becoming increasingly apparent that our old system simply wasn't operating as efficiently as today's newer systems. We also had to consider how much longer a 26-year-old system could realistically continue to serve us. We discovered SSHC through several of my co-workers. A few had recently upgraded their HVAC systems and had nothing but great things to say about how well they were treated, particularly their experiences with Michael. We figured it couldn't hurt to have SSHC evaluate our system and provide an estimate so we could determine whether replacing it made sense. From the beginning, Michael made an excellent impression. He thoroughly examined our existing HVAC system and all of its accessible components. What we appreciated most was that he didn't come into our home looking for reasons to sell us something we didn't need. He was very straightforward about the condition of our existing system and acknowledged that it was still working. At the same time, he explained that its efficiency was nowhere near that of a modern system and discussed the benefits and considerations of upgrading. Michael provided us with three or four recommendations appropriate for our home and explained them without making us feel pressured to choose any particular system. His approach was transparent, informative, and genuinely low-pressure. That meant a lot to us because replacing an HVAC system is a significant investment, and we wanted to feel confident in our decision. Ultimately, my wife and I decided to retire our 26-year-old system and move forward with a new HVAC system. Several factors went into that decision: we already knew three people who had purchased systems from SSHC and had very positive experiences; we felt extremely comfortable with Michael's straightforward approach; we were satisfied with the pricing in the estimate; and we were impressed by the many positive and relatively recent Yelp and Google reviews. Once we made our decision, the installation experience was just as positive. The installation crew--Dillon, Mario, and Frankie--did an excellent job removing our old HVAC system and installing the new one. They were thorough, careful, and respectful while working both inside and outside our home. They also took the time to answer all of my questions throughout the installation, which I really appreciated. Michael also stopped by during the installation to check on the progress, answer questions, and make sure everything was going as expected. He even took the time to thank me again for choosing SSHC when we could have selected just about any local HVAC company. That personal follow-up was another example of the level of customer service we experienced throughout the entire process. Another nice benefit was being able to take advantage of SSHC's 18-month, no-interest financing through Wells Fargo, which gave us some additional flexibility with such a substantial home improvement expense. Overall, we could not be happier with our experience with SSHC. From the initial estimate to the final installation, we were impressed by their professionalism, reasonable pricing, transparency, communication, and attention to detail. Most importantly, we never felt pressured or rushed into making a decision. We felt that Michael took the time to assess our existing system honestly, explain our options, answer our questions, and allow us to make the decision that was right for our home. The installation team then carried that same level of professionalism and care through the replacement. I'm so glad I went with this company ! With all the HVAC companies out there it can be hard to know where to turn. Our air-conditioning unit broke in the hottest week of the year. I called these guys and they got someone out the next day. Thomas was our technician. He was courteous and professional and skilled. He was able to give us better news than what I was expecting and my repair was much easier and cheaper than I expected! He even threw in a service plan where they come out a couple times a yr to inspect and clean the unit! Now I can see why they have 5 star reviews! For my consultation visit, I was notified the technician would be arriving late a few mins before my original window ended. I was not provided with a new estimated time of arrival and just had to wait around. The technician ended up coming by over an hour later. I had to leave work early for this consultation and was treated as an afterthought. My technician was very friendly and informative, which I appreciated and is the only positive I have about my experience. I ended up signing a quote for duct cleaning while he was still there and I was sent an email confirmation immediately. After a month of waiting for someone to reach out to me to schedule my duct cleaning, I emailed them to invalidate the signed quote since I hadn't heard a peep from them. The response I received said that they have no records of a signed quote from me and that they called and left a voicemail. I didn't receive a call or voicemail. I'm not sure what is wrong with their system or procedures, but my overall experience with this company is negative and unprofessional. read more

This company charged me $249 on 1/22/26 without any explanation. We did not call them, we did not authorize work to be done, and they did not come out to our house for any reason, on or about this date. This is unprofessional and will be noted. This will be resolved. Update: Ken (one of the managers) contacted me in response to the fraudulent charge. He explained to me that his company had made a critical error and he apologized. I decided to check on Yelp to see if there was a mom and pop who would be better suited. I found this company And they sent Nick out right away. Nick diagnosed my problem immediately and went right to work fixing some wires that were unplugged and even found a part replacement while he was here. I went to Straight Shooter looking for a second opinion when another local company's assessment was going to cost me thousands. I was scheduled and back to running within 24 hours... all during one of our hottest weeks. I expected at least a week turnaround, but the tech arrived (early) and we were back to normal for a FRACTION of what was initially quoted to me by the other company. Three companies were asked to give me bids for replacement of my 25+ yr old system. One did not inspect the furnace's heat exchanger, saying he didn't want to move such a good looking furnace! His bid stated that it did not include the cost of permits to replace the ac. Another bidder did not bring any diagnostic equipment, but was very ready to come back to repair or replace the ac and would at that time inspect the furnace. His bid for replacing the ac did not even mention the need for permits. And then, there's Straight Shooter. They were already my service company and at check up time, Rich was concerned about the refrigerant level. He asked to come back on a warmer day to be sure the cold had not given a false reading. Rich also suggested it was time to find out if the aging system needed replacement due to some others signs. I asked him to arrange that, so Scott came the same day Rich returned. At that time, a crack was found in the furnace heat exchanger. Also, it was determined the ac refrigerant loss was so significant, repair would be too costly, especially for the ac's age. Scott kindly spent enough time with me explaining options that I had clarity about them. Just a few days later Eric, Dillon and Forest installed a heat pump that does both jobs! I am well pleased. First off, let me just make sure I mention that Aaron M. went above and beyond to make sure my ac/heater were working right before the homeowner inspection. So originally, it was just going to be a typical yearly maintenance and I had looked up on Thumbtack to find a company that can come out asap to get it out of the way. Straight Shooter reached out promptly and got the appointment for next day. Aaron came out and inspected the attic. He was very honest and not trying to upsell me and gave me different options to go about it. I truly appreciate Aaron for speaking to my realtor afterward to get her thoughts on what she and I should do. The fact he was happily to explained it again to my realtor as well is appreciated. The price he gave us was beyond reasonable!! Can't put a price on making sure your home is safe. Especially with smaller children Straight Shooter was able to get their guys to come out the day after. I'm still trying to wrap my head how that evaporator coil was able to get up in the attic with that small space. Lol but they did it!! But they came across a problem and Aaron literally came out at 7pm that evening for two hours to try to figure it out. I have a 2 story home and two separate ac thermostat that control upstairs and downstairs. Aaron apologize that he would get one of his guy to come out Monday at the earliest at 7am to get this taken care of and sure enough, they did!! While I was out of town on vacation my tenant had issues with the AC intermittently failing during a heat wave and it was becoming a medical issue. The company who I had bought it from was always slow to respond, requiring days for service calls to just take a look at it, and they had broken it during past maintenance. When they told us it would be days until they could come out, I went looking for a company that would show up when we most needed them. Straight shooter came through for us, coming out the next morning and worked the entire day until it was completely fixed. From the start when I spoke with Michael upon viewing my home for upgrading my furnace which had gone out, and adding A/C to my 60yr old home they Eric, Ray and Dylan all were competent in their ability to get it done.
