A recent purchase of a 2 story commercial property in Rancho Bernardo had me looking for an appropriate HVAC company to size up the 3 units on the roof and let me know what I needed to address. I had received proposals from 2 or 3 other companies. A&B instilled the most confidence and I just got a good vibe from the team. Marty & Dustin made a couple of visits to explain what needed to be done, replace 2 of the 3 units. Within a couple of weeks I had a couple of 5 Ton glistening new Bosch units installed and running. The installers Dave & Tyler showed up on schedule and, with the help of a crane, within a couple of days the work was complete. During the process both Dustin & Marty were present and even came by a couple of more times to make minor adjustments and explain a few things about what I can expect from A&B in the future as it relates to always being available to come and make things right if there are any issues down the road. My review is 5 Stars and it truly was a 5 out of 5 experience. When the time comes, they will be replacing my 3rd unit which still has a few years of life remaining...hopefully. Additionally, when I open up my 2nd floor ceiling for an open ceiling look as part of my remodel, A&B will be handling all of the ducting work required to transition from flex to solid ducts, return & supply installs, etc. I don't take the time very often to leave reviews but the team at A&B earned it. Thanks again guys! If you have any AC/Heating work that needs to be addressed for either Commercial or Residential, I highly recommend A&B. read more

Dustin from A&B Air Conditioning and Heating was outstanding. I walked him through everything I'd tried myself, and instead of brushing it off or pushing extras, he actually listened. He noticed the thermostat reading didn't match how the house actually felt, checked the condenser with gauges, and explained everything clearly. He fine-tuned the thermostat offset to better match the real temp and keep the system from running endlessly. No pressure tactics, just solid, honest work. If you need HVAC help, don't waste time shopping around -- call Dustin. read more

So the AC decides to die before the hottest day of the week. Woke up in a panic. At the recommendation of our neighbors, we called A and B air conditioning hoping they have an opening sometime today . They gave us a window of a few hours later but then called back and said actually, they will arrive in 20 minutes!! It ended up being a dead capacitor and was changed in minutes. Very nice, polite young man came and said he'll send us the bill. They did not try to upsell anything. An outstanding small business. Will definitely recommend them to anyone with AC issues! read more

Honest, professional company that cares more about doing right by the customer than trying to upsell you everything under the sun. I needed my condensation pipe rerouted, and I called a few other companies that very highly rated-- it was mind-blowing how much additional work they were trying to get me to do - on a brand new system nontheless. A&B does great work at a great price. Highly recommend them! read more

I cannot say enough great things about A & B Air Conditioning. I called them regarding an issue with my A/C unit, and they were upfront from the very beginning, even providing a quote over the phone for the cost to come out and diagnose the problem. When Dustin arrived, he was cheerful, professional, and incredibly pleasant to work with. He listened carefully as I explained the issue and then went to inspect the unit. As it turned out, the power had simply been switched off following a recent termite tenting of my home. Dustin literally flipped a switch and solved the problem in seconds. What impressed me most was that, despite taking the time to come out and troubleshoot the issue, Dustin waived the service fee entirely. Most companies would absolutely still charge for the visit, but this level of honesty, integrity, and old-school customer service is rare these days. That kind of kindness and professionalism is a sure-fire way to earn my business for years to come. When I have a true A/C issue in the future, A & B Air Conditioning will be the first and only company I call. It is refreshing to work with a company that genuinely values honesty and doing the right thing. I am happy to report that those qualities are present in abundance with A and B. read more

I had A & B come out to my house after I had a "local" company complete a tuneup. The local company tells me, my compressor was dead and I need to spend 6k to fix it. Dustin showed up on time and completed his diagnostic checked and found no issues. This company is not the make up a problem to get your cash. They are honest, reliable, and my new go HVAC company. read more

Finally got some time to write this review - our furnace went out about a month ago and I was due to give birth any day. I called A&B and filled out their online form and they got back to me and sent a tech out to take a look. Fidel was quick and courteous and was honest about the fact that the part that was malfunctioning may or may not be available since it's a 35 year old furnace. I ended up giving birth the following morning and was so worried about bringing a newborn home when it was cold, but they were able to source the part quickly and had it fixed by the following Tuesday. The fix itself was super quick and our heat has been working great since! When this system gives up the ghost, we'll most likely call A&B again for the replacement as I was very impressed by the speed at which everything got resolved and with their friendly service. read more

After being told my air conditioner was not salvageable by another company, A & B checked it out and informed me it could be repaired. Below is a post I posted into our community Facebook group. One of our AC's isn't turning on. Can anyone recommend someone who services home air conditioners? Many Thanks!!! UPDATE: Being the hottest week of the year (so far) I was pretty desperate to have someone out today to service our AC. My first text was to A&B Air Conditioning & Heating. I also called 2 others from the comments and was told nothing was available until next week. Then I called Comfort Bros HVAC (they were able to get someone out here by 12pm) My tech gave me a quote of $1,439 to replace the blade motor and said it would take 3-5 days to receive the parts. Service call was $67 At this point I had receive a text back from Marty (A&B Air Conditioning & Heating) saying he could stop by on his way home from work. So I texted him back and explained I had another company out and asked him what he thought of the quote I got. He replied and said "Whoa No", I should be able to do that for $450. He was already home for the day and still came over!!! He had it fixed in less than an hour and charged me $450!!! I'm sharing this because although the tech from Comfort Bros was a nice guy (we chatted for awhile) the pricing for their services seem to be a lot more than what they should be. And to be honest, I would have probably paid it, had it not been for Marty going above and beyond to be a good guy and looking out for his Alpine Peeps! Thank you Marty!!!! read more

Marty Bowman.'s company is a class act. Marty made himself available, had a great quote, and has very pleasant and able team. They arrived on time and finished early. We highly recommend them! read more

Dustin came out a day after our call and checked our 40plus year old unit. Gave us great advice on changing registers to increase airflow and how to tell if it's working. Didn't charge for the visit as he said he didn't really do anything. Will absolutely be calling him to put in a new unit when this one finally dies! Honest, fast response and very knowledgeable. read more

We had an old unit that was 33 years old and came with the house. It wasn't running great, so we called up Marty on a recommendation from a friend. Marty was very honest and gave us a super competitive bid. He spotted all the problems we had already knew was had and told us what he could and could not do. He was very upfront and candid and did not oversell any product that I felt wasn't necessary. He also didn't upcharge me on small equipment, like when I told him I wanted a Google Nest for the new Thermostat, he told me that it would be cheaper for me to buy one myself and he would install it for me. A lot of contractors, we got estimates from, really tried to upsell product. I did my own research and these other guys would always recommend larger units or more expensive units that did not always review well. Anyways, as I said, Marty was honest in his assessment and his bid was very competitive. His crew was awesome and once they finished the install and we could immediately tell the difference in the house. read more

Marty Bowman with A & B replaced our outdated HVAC some years back and all has been working fine until the recent summer heat and need to run the AC. Just stopped cooling so gave Marty a call to take a look. Figured with the heat wave it was going to be at least a wait to get an appointment with anyone. We were pleasantly surprised, and pleased, that Marty was able to look at it the following day and resolved the issue. Now that's 5 star service; a big thank you to Marty and A & B. read more

This is the second time we had Dustin come to our house. The first time he installed a new thermostat. He was very knowledgable and esy to work with. He spent a lot of time programming the thermostat and explaining the settings. We had him come back because our gas furnace went out on the weekend. So we called Dustin and he came by first thing Monday morning to look at it, then got the part that day and fixed the heater the next day.found Once again we were extremely impressed with his service and expertise. We highly recommend this company. They're the best! Sue and Steve Lopez read more

These guys are the guys you want to use!!! They are hard-working, friendly, professional and honest!!! We were super stressed-out since it was forecast to be 110 degrees the next several days. I called them this morning on not only the hottest day of the year, but also on a holiday weekend, expecting that they would not be able to help us until next week. They said they would be out to the house today before 3pm and they kept their word, repairing the AC before 2pm. If your AC can be fixed without purchasing a new unit, they will take care of it! Additionally, the fee was extremely reasonable! Will recommend to all my friends and family! read more

Marty and crew are amazing, professional and courteous! Marty has helped keep my almost 30 year old a/c unit alive, since replacing it is not in our budget at this time. Marty is very down to earth and realizes that we are not all made of money. He will work with you to repair your a/c while keeping your budget in mind. During the last heat wave Marty was quick to respond to my pleas for help when our a/c needed some repairs. He got us back up and running super quick! I cannot stress how honest this man is! The weekend was coming with a prediction of 110 in La Mesa and our AC broke. I am sorta handy sometimes so I tried what I could to fix it while calling all the HVAC people I could. Dustin from A&B was kind enough to talk me through what I was doing and suggest how I might fix it, but I decided to have him just come help me out. The problem was way bigger than I could have handled. He still didn't charge me more than expected, and the best part was he treated my wife like a person while he was saving the day. It is super hard to find service providers that answer their phone and can actually help, but Dustin blew our minds with his friendly, professional demeanor on top of saving the weekend. All I can say is that Marty and Ken are absolute angels! I'm on a fixed income and our refrigeration wasn't working. I had been told by another company that it might be an expensive fix or replacement. Luckily they were unable to come out so I called A & B. According to Marty, all it needed was refrigerant!!! When I couldn't pay him for the job he offered to let me pay in installments! Needless to say, I was thrilled. Now the air conditioning works, which is a necessity in Santee. Please call these people if you need service. They will fix and not recommend replacement unless it's absolutely necessary. You just don't find people like Marty every day, these days. Thank you A & B and Marty and Ken!!! read more

Adam came over and was honest and fair about what work needed to be done. I am more than pleased with their service. 10/10 would recommend.

Good guy! Recommended to us by one of our Christian friends who said Marty was a good, knowledgeable, honest and fair person. He was certainly that and more. He fixed the problem, it cost us only a hundred dollars and was gracious and kind. I really like and recommend this company and this man. When we do have to replace the unit, we will definitely call him. Another HVAC person told us we had to replace the unit now and it would have cost us $5000. Luckily I called our friend for a recommendation. Nancy McDonald read more
