We were in town for the weekend and a friend had recommended Maplewood Kitchen. We went for lunch on a Saturday and the line was quite long when we got there (like to the door!) it probably took 15-20 minutes until we ordered and then another 10-15 min until our food came. I'm glad we waited though because the food was so good! My favorite thing we ordered was the lemon hummus with lavash chips. So so good! (And still good the next day as left overs). The fries reminded me of McDonalds fries in the best way possible. The salmon skewers were well cooked. We would definitely come back again, but probably try to avoid the lunch rush next time read more

*My first experience at Maplewood* My friends and I chose this for a cute Saturday lunch, and arrived around 1 pm. We walked into a plethora of tables, empty, with leftover food and empty plates on them, making it difficult to select a table. When ordering our food, we were greeted with a displeasured demeanor by cashiers. After ordering and selecting the only open, clean table, our food and drinks came shortly after. The majority of our food was good, however the eggs I was served were still chirping, completely raw. The staff was less than nice and unhelpful. One of us ordered a Coke, and didn't receive it with the rest of our drinks, upon asking a food runner for her drink, she gave a sideways "you were supposed to get a cup when you ordered" response. We are all confused as to why we were prompted to tip at pay for food without service from rude employees whom all actively display RBF. 3/10 less than pleasurable experience. read more

Went here in a Sunday at about noon. Not too busy (Memorial Day weekend and food festival nearby, maybe that's why). Food orders were the Mediterranean salad with chicken - VERY good. Kids cheese burger - giant portion! Service was friendly Price was reasonable at 38ish USD. Would I return ? Yes. It's an option for sure if in the area but you wouldn't drive out of your way to come here just for it. read more

Lovely place for lunch in downtown Cincinnati. It's order at the counter but their menu - and space - is vast. The salad options were more unique than I usually see and the hummus was delicious. The staff is welcoming and the bar seating area seems like it would work both for working space and casual meetings. Be sure to hit this place up if you're in the area. read more

Overall: 5/5 s! I ordered the CHICKEN TINGA, and that was pretty good! The shredded chicken wasn't dry and if you're feeling a little bit of a Mexican-food taste for brunch, I would highly recommend eating this! I definitely wish I ordered the MEDITERRANEAN BOWL though, which is what my sister got because it was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Their pita triangles were so crunchy and paired SO well with their hummus. I unfortunately didn't get to taste the rest of it, but the tiny taste that I did get was enough to make me feel like I should've definitely ordered it! My mom also ordered the LEMON RICOTTA PANCAKES and they tasted SO amazing. The pancake itself wasn't dry, and you really could taste the lemon in the pancakes. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting this if you do eat at Maplewood :) The service was awesome! We came around 1000, ordered, and immediately found seating BUT around 1100, there was definitely a long wait outside (it was the Bengals vs. Browns game day, so I'm not 100% sure how crowded it is on a non-game day!) When we got our food, we also didn't know what water was self-serve so we accidentally asked our waiter for water, but he was so kind & just gave our entire table some water! It was our first time as a family in downtown Cincinnati, so we didn't know this, but there isn't parallel parking directly by the restaurant, but there are a ton of parking garages. I loved this brunch spot and I absolutely would come here again! read more

Great food, I recommend the Maplewood Burger! Great lemonades ;) and conveniently located in downtown Cincy !

I loved the galley style of this place and the atmosphere. All of the employees were super nice and I loved the food. There's a parking garage right beside it/above it so walking is easy. Food and parking are a little expensive so definitely go with a group! read more

In town for a conference and we ducked into this place as the red's opening day parade was going on. We were able to order and get seated pretty quickly. This place puts me in mind of Northstar restaurant located in Columbus, OH. I ordered the Maplewood Hash (goetta is pork, they cannot remove this item from the hash) w/ a Mimosa, my sister ordered the Vegan Power Bowl, friend ordered the Avocado Toast and side of hash brown and another person ordered the Veggie Burger. Everything was very good! So good, i went back the very next day with another group of people! I had the lemon ricotta pancakes with scrambled eggs (eggs were salt heavy), another person ordered the veggie burger and another ordered the chicken club sandwich. The service the next day was slower. The restaurant was packed and tables were not being cleaned - again we were a conference in town at the time. Not sure if they were understaffed or overwhelmed. read more

Great experience! Cute place and food was delish. Expresso was great. Service was excellent! Will definitely be back once we're back in town

A farm-to-table experience inside and out! All of their ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, and sustainable. We came on a Sunday morning (~11am) and it was already packed! Luckily we only waited in line to order for about 5 mins, then the line piled up. Here, you order first, then you find a seat. There are a ton of seating options for parties big and small. The whole place was roaring with noise because it was so busy. It brought such a great atmosphere! The aesthetic of the place was gorgeous with great lighting. For food, we got the lemon ricotta pancakes ($12) and avocado benedict ($11), two of their most popular brunch dishes. The benedict and pancakes were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The pancakes were super huge though! Literally the size of a frisbee, I definitely recommend sharing. Overall, the food was pretty basic and lackluster, but the vibes and service made up for it. The lady that was running around the restaurant was a boss! She was doing this and that but still managed to remember everyone's orders and conversations. Shoutout to her! read more

At first, the line to get inside looked a little intimidating, but our hostess Princess made the experience effortless. She explained the process clearly and kept things moving, which set the tone for a great visit. Once seated at the bar area, our server Trinity was outstanding. She delivered attentive, friendly, and quick to make sure everything came out hot and fresh. Big thumbs up to both Princess and Trinity for turning what could've felt overwhelming into an enjoyable and memorable dining experience. read more

My local friends and I (visiting) came here after another brunch spot had over an hour wait on a Sunday and was surprised at the type of restaurant it was... If you're looking for a sit down, server comes, and takes your order-don't come here. It's like a cafeteria style/fast food restaurant--order food at the counter and if it's busy, try your luck with a table as soon as they clean it...kind of reminds me of hunger games on a busy Sunday LOL...but if you come when it's not so busy then you'll be satisfied. We were so overwhelmed and felt rushed to order and grab a seat as soon as one was emptying and cleaned...so already not a pleasing experience...Kid's drinks also come in a glass (which they should never! As it's safer to put it in plastic and/or styrofoam) My cold brew tasted more like milk than actual brew...not my preference. As for my meal, I order the avocado Benedict, bacon and hash browns sides. The hash brown(s) was the best part of my meal! Most of the bacon slices were over cooked and not enjoyable. The avocado Benedict idea is tasty but disappointing upon arrival and eating...tasteless, cold, and needed seasoning... My fiancé liked the burger but the double patties were thin so it honestly looked like one patty (I didn't even realize it was double until I asked him after reading other reviews about how great it was) and the bread was so thick, the bread to patty ratio is off, at least for us. Honestly, so many great reviews and we just don't understand why we didn't get the same experience. Even our local friends were disappointed with their average tasting food--no offense, we were expecting more based on all the 5 star reviews, maybe we came on an off day. read more

Great brunch, was down here for a volleyball tournament. Food was excellent, space was large. Great service

First of all, it's a gorgeous restaurant and very clean. The bloody Mary's are great but very very spicy. The food honestly is a bit hit or miss. I didn't enjoy the burger, and the steak skewers had zero salt and were undercooked. I like that you pay upfront and seat yourself so there's no annoying wait at the end for your check. Great restaurant in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. They offer a lot of fresh and healthy options. When you enter there is a rack on the wall with clipboards that have the day's menu. From there you order at the counter and you get a numbered sign and take a seat. The waitress came by and refilled drinks. I went with the chicken tinga. It was very flavorful. Just look at the pictures any you should be able to see the flavor. I will return when in the area. read more

Highly recommend Maplewood Kitchen and Bar for brunch with friends!! Been here once 3 years ago when they still offer dinner and love the interior design and atmosphere of the restaurant. After they reopened, I recommended my friends to have brunch in this place. However, they had technical issues on their computer systems so we didn't get food last time. And this time we finally can enjoy the food in the restaurant!! I really hype for the food when I looked at the reviews and pictures And I didn't disappointed! Will come back again next time!! Also this place has a special system to order food! You have to line up and order your food before you get a seat! I actually love this system as you can save time to wait for the waiter to order food. Food reviews: Chicken Tinga (3.5/5) - it's a huge portion dish! with lots of chicken meats and two cage free over easy eggs. Would appreciate if they can add more veggies in it but if you're a meat lovers, you will like it. Maplewood Burger (4/5) - Double burger with white cheddar, house pickle, greens, grilled tomato, roasted garlic aioli sauce and the bread is sesame bun!! - I love this burger as the meats and veggies ratio is balanced!! Berries Pancake (4/5) - I really want to try their pancake when I looked at the picture and glad that my friends ordered it as a sides. If you order as a sides it's smaller portions and it's $6. They also offered the pancake in the menu with a bigger size ($12). The pancake is very fluffy and soft. Highly recommend and I think I will order the pancake from the breakfast menu next time :p read more

This place is amazing. The ambience is barn rustic feeling. Since I don't drink orange juice I got a sweet green cold pressed juice and it was really good if you like greens. I got the Maplewood Hash which had goetta (pork since I don't eat meat I sub this with salmon skewers) hash browns, onion, bell pepper, local mushroom, jalapeño, corn, two cage free hard fried eggs. This dish was amazing. The only downfall is that your entire party has to be there before you can sit at your table as you pre-order your meal. So make sure everyone is present before you arrive. read more

Went to brunch with a girlfriend and from the second we walked in the door we were greeted and directed to the queue to order. The cashier was incredibly sweet and ordering was seamless even with the line growing behind us. The food selection has something for everyone. Savory, sweet or traditional. I ordered the chilaquiles and devoured it. My friend order the maplewood hash and we both ordered a side of their lemon ricotta pancakes with we're unreal! I had purchased one of their pressed juices but after we sat down I realized I couldn't drink it as it was unpasteurized and I had just recently discovered I am pregnant. I took it back up to the cashier since I didn't open it and they offered me a gift card for my next visit, incredibly kind! A few moments after I sat down I was brought an orange juice unsolicited and that was the nicest gesture. All and all it was a 10/10 experience. I will definitely be back! read more

Great quick brunch option with unique dishes and modern relaxed aesthetic. Pros: Different dishes, nice ambiance, quicker self-order system. Cons: 10$ mimosas and limited parking. Ate with two friends around 1:30 after moving. Love the order system of lining up to place an order then self seating with a number to be served. Cuts down the wait significantly. The food was all tasty and quality and left me satisfied and just wanting a little more a side of pancakes for the table had us all full. The options were different but they also have your standard fare. Staff is very attentive, space is clean, atmosphere is great. GF is a fan of the place and I like it overall, just wish a single mimosa wasn't 10 bucks. Total bill 15$. Rating 9/10 read more

I had a great experience at Maplewood. We came in on a Friday around 12 pm, and there were still many seats available. It's an interesting atmosphere because it is more upscale, but you order at the counter. Our food arrived shortly after ordering. This was a good spot for breakfast/lunch. The way their system works is that you go to the counter to place your order, they give you a number to place on your table, and they bring everything out to you. The water and I believe basic coffee is self serve. On day 1, the line was terribly long. That's always a sign of good things to come! I had a burger that was just ok, but I loved the cold-pressed juice and shared a friend's lemon pancakes, which were amazing. I dined with 3 others and they were in LOVE with everything they had. I have been wanting to try this restaurant and I'm glad we did! Don't let the fact that you order at the counter keep you from going for a fun dining experience. The dining room feels more like a an upscale brunch restaurant. The person who took our order - Melody - was outstanding and really started our meal off well. It's amazing what a great staff interaction can do to influence your restaurant experience. The food arrived quickly. We all loved what we ordered. My husband said it was the best omelette he's ever had. My daughter is a vegetarian but she had plenty of options. Melody recommended the half size portion of pancakes and I'm glad I got that. It was still a lot of pancake! There is a fun little drink bar where you can serve yourself. I ordered a latte and it arrived quickly with a fun little design on top. You can also sit at the bar if you're dining alone. We will be back! Three thumbs up from us! read more

I am so, so glad I checked this place out! I'm a big brunch fan, and Maplewood Kitchen and Bar checked off all my brunch hopes, dreams, wants, and more. I had seen other raving reviews of it on Yelp, so I knew I had to check it out immediately. Even though my friend and I arrived later closer to their closing time, the staff was still super friendly and helpful. I opted for the Maplewood Hash and added chicken to it. Delicious. It tasted very healthy, but still super yummy at the same time. The portion was big, so if I had been any less hungry, there would have been plenty of leftovers to bring home. Maplewood also offers a variety of specialty coffees, pressed juices, and cocktails, which I will have to come back and try, as they all sound amazing. The inside is really open and spacious; it almost feels like it belongs somewhere on the west coast. The seating is really comfortable with large tables, and they offer wifi if you are coming there to do work. Brunch with my daughter- Ordered scrambled eggs and goetta. Perhaps I upset the cook by ordering off menu. The eggs had a pile of salt in the center clearly an intentional act. Ambiance good. Maplewood Kitchen became a go-to when landing in Cincinnati from an early flight. They are one of few restaurants open at 8a serving actual food. As someone who doesn't particularly love traditional breakfast offerings, I enjoy being able to order lunch selections in the morning. I think the prices are set nicely... this is coming from someone who hates that avocado toast in LA cost $20 on average. That's annoying. Maplewood even boasts a large beautiful bar, perfect for brunch. This is a great place to come with friends and groups. Maplewood Kitchen could be the perfect spot when you're in one of those moods bc it's just different.
