The restaurant is beautiful, you have to go in line to order then you can sit down & they bring the food out. We got skirt steak & eggs also a burger but when it came out we were appalled.. the steak was a size of a lemon. The burger had a tangy taste, the food it wasn't great. Customer service was good other than the host not giving us a number when we ordered, it was terrible but it was bad, the portions can be better. read more

I heard about Maplewood from a peer. Located right by the Hilton, I gave it a try. The restaurant is large and comfortable, with a fast food style setup like Ponderosa. Order and pay at the counter, get your drink cups, get a number and sit where you like. The staff bring your food when it's ready. It's rather pricey considering the setup, but the portions are large, the coffee is good, and they have sparkling water on tap. I enjoyed my breakfast, and will return here. read more

Maplewood Kitchen and Bar was another selection that was within walking distance of my hotel during a recent visit. Once you walk in, there are menus hanging on the wall, then you order/pay at the front and select your table. The morning I went was busy! Service worked quickly and with a smile. The lemon ricotta pancakes were so good here, but the burger was just mediocre. read more

We came around noon on a Sunday and after a brief wait, we were served our meal. I really like how they had a rail of dangling clipboard menus to peruse while waiting in line. I ordered a side order of their lemon ricotta pancakes and a side of their Greek yogurt. Both sides were very filling and more than satisfactory. I loved the yogurt and took some of it to go as well. The decor is inviting with a lot of natural lighting. The wait staff was also very attentive. All together, it made for a wonderful experience. I look forward to going back! read more

Maplewood - Hash brown side - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Maplewood has long been my favorite brunch spot and I don't understand why the Mason location closed! Everything I've had here is phenomenal from the burgers to avocado toast to the hash (my all time favorite savory option). This time around I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and hash - I've never had the pancakes and it's hard for me to stray from the hash because I love it so much. But the pancakes were amazing and might be my new favorite! So light and airy and delicious. read more

Came here with a friend who is vegan because of the many vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. You order at the counter here and then they bring your food to your table. It's a large open space with lots of seating choices. We ordered a handful of meals and sat down to wait. We got the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and a few other dishes that I can remember the names of. We also got the hummus and fries. The food was all delicious and came out quickly! I was a little disappointed because we ordered two drinks that they forgot about and ultimately didn't receive until after we finished eating (hence 4 stars). Overall though, a great option for brunch with lots of variety! read more

If you want fresh, local ingredients used when creating a most wonderful brunch, this is THE place! The omelet was soft and fluffy. The lemon ricotta pancake was one of the best I've ever had. It included maple syrup, fresh fruit, and a blackberry compote. We chose French press for our coffees, and they use La Terza as one of their coffees, which is the only coffee we use at home. Fantastic meal, and we hope to return. Helpful info: This place is great for gatherings of all kinds. They do have a kids menu as well. You may have a wait, as you must follow a line through to the counter where you place your order prior to grabbing a seat. If you have any difficulty standing for a while, they do have benches along the way. Once you've placed your order, you are then given a number. You find your own seat and keep the number until your order is delivered to your table. The dining area is quite large, with various options for seating: bar, tables, booths, small tables, and larger tables for big groups. read more

When I placed my order the guy behind the counter seemed annoyed. When they brought out my breakfast the sausage was uncooked. I took my plate back and asked for it to be fully cooked as I'm pregnant. 15 minutes later they brought my food out and the new sausage was still uncooked. At that point I was over it and skipped it but the rest of my food on the plate was cold and my toast was burnt and hard. Random addition but they were playing weird Xmas piano music lol read more

Maplewood Kitchen and Bar, you've done it again! I think this is my third trip to Maplewood, but my first time hitting up the downtown Cincinnati spot -- and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The food, service, and ambiance were all on point. First up, the Chicken Club. This bad boy was everything a sandwich dreams of being -- crispy, juicy, and perfectly messy in all the right ways. And that house salad on the side? Surprisingly good for something green and responsible. Healthy? Yes. Delicious? Also yes. But let's be honest, I needed a little extra indulgence, so I got the hash browns too. These weren't your typical sad, dried-out spuds. They were golden, crispy perfection -- like little potato pillows sent from the heavens. Now, my fiancée went with the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and I'm not exaggerating when I say these are probably the best pancakes in Cincinnati. Fluffy? Like a cloud. Thick? Like a Sunday morning nap. Crunchy edges? Absolutely. We only wished they were a little more generous with the fruit -- a couple more berries wouldn't hurt, Maplewood! The eggs? Soft, fluffy, and cooked with love. But the real showstopper? The Brown Butter Cookie. Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and radiating that "I'm definitely not sharing" energy. One of my favorite parts? You pay ahead of time, which means no server awkwardly circling like a shark waiting to drop the bill. You grab your table, kick back, and enjoy. The place was classy without trying too hard, and the prices? Honestly, pretty solid. All this joy for around $50-$55 -- I've paid more for less excitement at other breakfast spots. Final verdict: Run, don't walk. Top 2 breakfast spots in Cincinnati and not in second place, at least for now. Maplewood, you're officially on my "Must Brunch" list. read more

I was in town for Christmas and ate here for brunch. I am a fan of Goetta, especially since I can't get it outside of Cincinnati. I had their Maplewood hash, which was potatoes, Goetta, veggies with eggs. Their coffee was excellent. Their service was friendly. The food is delicious and the restaurant is super cute. It does get quite busy during the brunch hour, but if you come just a little bit before, you can get a table right away. we parked in the parking garage across the street. I honestly loved most things about this place. As soon as I walked in, I felt like the interior was working its charm on me lol. It has a really cute, earthy, yet sophisticated vibe to it that I really liked. After looking at the menu, you order at the counter. The food came out pretty quickly, but most of the service is self-serve. You get your own water and you place your order st the register. I don't have any issue with that, but just a head up for those of you are have issues with mobility. The food was really good. I think the star of the menu is the Maplewood hash. It was delicious, hardy, and had a great mix of flavors. I was also a fan of the skewers. If I were you I would get a main dish and pair it with the skewers, lol. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 starts was because of the avocado toast. I'm a big fan of avocado toast, and I was pretty sad when I bit into this one. The flavors just didn't mesh. This is just my opinion, but honey doesn't belong on avocado toast. That was probably the worst part of my spread. Other than the avocado toast I still would make by way back here. Check this place out and let me know what you think. read more

Super cute place for breakfast. Not a huge fan of standing in line to order rather than having wait staff, but it was cool. Also, we were there early and there wasn't much of a line, really. I ordered the Avocado Benedict . My meal included asparagus and I ordered a side of goetta. It was delicious. It did not come with a hollandaise sauce, making it a unique Benedict. We tried to get one of their cold pressed drinks, but the juice presser wasn't up and running yet. Hmm... The restaurant is quite beautiful and we enjoyed the experience. We be happy to return some day. read more

The ricotta pancakes were raw. I know the difference between the texture and taste of cooked ricotta pancakes. They tried to convince me I was wrong. There is a thin line between raw and cooked on this menu item. I would go back but I would not order that again. read more

In the heart of downtown, Maplewood exists as a higher end casual breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant. The interior is beautiful and the vibe is very pleasant. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu has variety, but is not too big. The breakfast chilaquiles were very fresh and flavorful and came as a large portion. The lemon ricotta pancakes were also solid and a treat to enjoy. Overall, while a bit on the pricier side Maplewood is a great spot that provides a bit of a more refined experience without the commitment and expectation of a high end restaurant. read more

I enjoyed lunch today with a party of 12 at Maplewood. I have been there before for happy hour, breakfast and dinner - not necessarily in that order . Today was a continuation of great food, service, speed and atmosphere, that I have had on other visits. My favorite comfort food is the chicken hash, a riff on a breakfast bowl that has all the goodies. The avocado toast and omelettes are both good choices as well. If you find yourself downtown and hungry, you won't go wrong with Maplewood. The entrance is on Race St and there is parking in the same building with access on 5th and 6th streets. We were unaware you order at the counter & then find a seat But My sister & I still really enjoyed this place. We got there around 10:15am & there were maybe 10-12 people in front of us. The line moved fairly quick. There is quite a bit of different style seating. The way they operate it doesn't seem as though people have to stand around waiting. It was nice and open with good lighting. We found a table immediately after ordering. Our food came out within 5 minutes, So that was nice. They did come to take plates & anything out of your way but you don't have an actual server. We didn't mind. It worked out great for us. We loved everything we got. The Breakfast hash with eggs was flavorful & light. We shared the fresh pressed SOL GLO juice & it was so refreshing.. The lemon cookie was delicious. Trendy, upscale , friendly staff and generally pleasant vibe. Unfortunately, bad idea, no make that INCREDIBLY BAD IDEA! It is self serve. When I ordered orange-mago juice, I was handed a plastic bottle at the counter. It was the kind of thing one would expect from a dispensary machine at an airport or a food court. I expected freshly squeezed fruit juice. It also cost six dollars, which is astonishing to me. Coffee was self serve. My omelette was delivered to the table. It was certainly as good as I would expect from any decent breakfast Restaurant. The price is about what I would expect at a 5 Diamond hotel restaurant where high quality service is expected. If your priority is to get in and get out fast and you don't mind cutting corners al at a premium price it may be the place for you. read more

One of my go to brunch spots downtown! It can get busy but the line moves quickly. We always order a side of lemon ricotta pancake! It comes with 2 extra large pancakes and a berry compote- perfection every time. Could never go wrong ordering the standard American breakfast- eggs your way. Every style of eggs that I've had was cooked well. I decided to try a maplewood burger this time and it didn't disappoint! A soft sesame bun with a thick cut burger and the garlic aioli balanced it well (I even added the bacon from my other order). The space has really high ceilings so it feels very open yet inviting to catch up with friends. read more

How have I lived in Cincinnati for years and never been to Maplewood?! This restaurant is 100% worth the hype -- and I will definitely be returning soon. I met up here with a friend for a late, working lunch around 2 p.m. I was a little worried about showing up an hour before they closed -- but there were plenty of people there with the same idea. The interior is bright and beautiful -- complete with contemporary California vibes. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and I love that they serve breakfast all day. I opted for the Goddess Greens Salad with some added chicken, and I couldn't pass up one of their Brown Butter Cookies to-go. My salad was enormous, and packed with fresh flavors! If you don't want to add any protein, this salad could definitely stand on its own, but I was happy to have the chicken as an addition. Since this was a working lunch, we ended up connecting our laptops to their Wi-Fi, which was fast and easy to access. I ended up eating the cookie in the car on my way home ... and was impressed with how soft and buttery it was. Definitely a must-add to any order. Maplewood truly was wonderful in every way. In fact, my only complaint is that I wish they were open later for dinner! This restaurant is a beacon of healthy, flavorful food in Downtown Cincinnati, and I can't wait to return again soon. read more

Drove by and saw open tables so we knew we would not have to wait long to eat. We street parked and walked over. We were surprised that you order up front and then find a table, but it worked out just fine. The menus are hanging on clipboards close to the front of the line. The coffee menu/drink menu is not printed. The coffee menu is painted on the wall. The other drinks are on signs. We waited about 15 min in line and found three open tables to choose from. When you order a cup of coffee, they give you a cup to go fill on your own. I wanted to try both regular brews during my visit, so I filled my cup only to the halfway point. Then on my next trip to the coffee station, I had the other brew. I thought the coffee was too weak- too watered down. I prefer a stronger, thicker coffee, so I was not impressed and opted not to buy their beans. But that's my personal taste. I like more coffee and less water in my brew ratio. Next time I'll have americano or espresso. But I didn't see their specialty coffee menu until we were seated. It was painted on the pillar. There's a water station where you can grab a cup and fill up. We placed our drinks and number on the table and waited. Food was out in about 20 min. Everything was delicious. However- their butter is not salted and if it is, it's very lightly salted. So I was happy to have the salt shaker on the table. Also- my toast did not arrive toasted. I did mention this to a manager who came by to ask how we were doing and he promptly ordered me a side of toast. I only needed one slice but instead I ended up with five or six!!! That was a nice fix though. The toast was much better. The Maillard reaction is why toast is so irresistible- so it has to be toasted!!! We ate the eggs your way (request egg whites, and goetta as my protein), a side of lemon ricotta pancakes, and the morning hash with added pulled chicken for more protein. Salt, hot sauce and ketchup did the trick and we ate it all. The cookies looked awesome- especially the cornflake one. I love that they have cocktails and mimosas etc. I would eat here again. A lot of menu items remain that I'd like to try. The side of bacon looks awesome. Many dishes were delivered near us so we could see yummy plates of food going out but we didn't know what everything was. So we will visit again :) read more

Cute place, good vibes, tasty food, quick service. On a work trip and I needed lunch. Maplewood Kitchen was nearby, so that was the place to go. I enjoyed the cool brunch energy of the place, although I opted to skip the midday booze. My Mediterranean bowl was tasty and deceivingly filling. It didn't look like much, but the quinoa and hummus packed a nice protein punch. I added chicken skewers, too, which were juicy and flavorful. I got an iced earl grey tea; this was a miss. Earl grey is their seasonal flavor... but some things shouldn't be iced. All in all, I'd def recommend Mapplewood Kitchen & Bar, and I'm a little jelly I'm not a local so I can't bring my girlfriends here for a lazy Sunday brunch. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The inside is decorated very nicely with a wood grain look. I like the concept of waiting in line to order your food and then sitting down and having them deliver it to you. We went two days in a row for breakfast and it was very crowded and the wait was pretty long. It was worth the wait, however. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I had chilaquiles and salmon skewers both days and it was the best chilaquiles I've ever had!!!!! The salmon was cooked perfectly. The fresh pressed juices were good, you can't go wrong with any of them; just choose the flavors you like. There were a couple of mixups on our order the second day. The manager came over and took care of our entire meal and gave us cookies to go. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

Let me start off by saying ... the food was amazing! The concept of counter service was interesting to say the least. We were told they didn't have pressed juice today. My friends and I want to enjoy a mimosa. A flavored mimosa is $10. Since they were out of pressed juice, we were told to grab a juice from the cooler. After paying for our meal, we realized we were charged $6 for the juice. Our mimosa added up to be $16 dollars. I would had wished the cashier would have told us we would be charged for the little amount of juice that is added to the champagne. Disappointed with this situation. I will mention again, the food was excellent and the ambiance was welcoming. read more

An honor to write their 1500th review for Maplewood Kitchen. This is Yelp at is best! I have not be in downtown Cincinnati in decades and had no list. The strong reviews are no joke and was on target. The grab a menu from a clip board with a smallish menu was unique. I had already looked at photos that were drool worthy. My daughter took a bit longer deciding on brunch or lunch and was assisted by friendly staff. Ultimately a kids cheeseburger and fries for my daughter and eggs your way for me. You pay at the counter and food is brought out. The dining room is drop dead gorgeous in a historic property. High ceilings, stunning long bar and large leather booths with concrete floors. A gentleman delivered food, cleared tables and managed the bar. Either the GM or owner, but absolutely focused on all facets of the job. The food was great and omg the bacon was killer!
