I've had Mango Bay on my list for so long, but the operation hours never align with my random schedule. Sad to say, I was very underwhelmed with most of my experience. I was attending a birthday dinner, got there early and was seated at the bar. I sat there for 15 minutes before either one of the men said anything to me, yet, they both looked at me several times. One of them was in and out of the back, but stopped, asked if the other guy had greeted me, and then he politely took my order. For the party, they had a prefix menu, with only 2 appetizer choices and 3 entrees. The food was just ok. The Saltfish Eggrolls were better tasting than I thought they would be. For my entree I had Escovitch Salmon, which I didn't really care for. The mocktails I had weren't a hit either. They didn't offer dessert with the prefix. The waiter that we had wasn't friendly. As he was taking orders, I motioned to ask him a question and he put his finger up at me, which I felt was very rude. They asked him to take a group picture and he brushed them off, and the lady who was initially greeting at the door, was walking past and kindly took the picture. Otherwise, the restaurant itself is nice, they have a beautiful spiral staircase that's like the staple piece. I didn't go upstairs to see the layout but the restaurant is nice. I know that you get different experiences with each visit, however, it not a must that I return.

I was hyped to try Mango Bay...each time I wanted to go i could not get a reservation. I was lucky to just randomly check and a friday night reservation was available. The staff was so attentive. From the host to the bartender to the waitstaff. Also. Very knowledgeable about the menu..thats rare nowadays. Unfortunately, my food was just ok.... I ordered the branzino however they were all out. Ugh We tried the ackee and saltfish egg rolls. These were cool however the pepper jack overpowered the flavor of the calaloo and saltfish. I ordered the pepper shrimp as a main. The dish came out room tempature, the dumplings were tight and hard and the sauce was more smoky than spicy. I opted for the salmon instead. The salmon was nicely plated, hot and flavorful. We also tried the lamb shanks with sweet potato mash..again the food temperatures were off. Our lamb was hot but mash room tempature. The sweet potato mash good of had a bit more sweetness. However the lamp was flavorful and tender. We ordered a side of saffron potatoes and sweet plantains...these were the highlights for the nite. The drinks and cocktails were really good..I would go back for the vibe and appetizers.

The atmosphere was enchanting, and quite comfortable. We were a party of five and were greeted by a smartly dressed hostess and taken to our table upstairs. The food, drinks and music was delicious! My cocktail was good but a tad too sweet - watch that if you're watching your sugar intake!

Uh uh this place is definitely over hyped. Beautiful ambiance and good music. Bar service was attentive but once we sat down our server basically forgot about us. My drink was delicious, after that was the fries omg best thing I had all night and after that was the burger. But hard to mess that up. Everything else we could've skipped. The curry goat puff pastry lacked flavor and was not a true curry. The pepper shrimp were so oily and lacked flavor as well.

My friend and I ordered the Burger, Scallops, Oxtail, and the Johnny Cakes with Pepper Shrimp. The Johnny cakes were dry and the shrimp wasn't spicy. We were both disappointed. I'd give the dish maybe a 3/10. The Oxtail was fine. Nothing amazing. I loved the Scallops and Burger with fries. Those were delicious and I'd go back for them if I'm in the area. We were Sat upstairs which was cozy and there was live music at one point. The fact that this place is upscale and expensive, I'd expect the food to be excellent. The drinks were also good. Service was not very attentive, but it was busy the night we went.

Mango Bay in Brooklyn was a pretty interesting experience. My best friend and I went here to enjoy a meal and even though we did not have a reservation, we were able to sit at the bar. The hostess was super kind and thoughtful. There was only one seat left at the bar and she actually gave up her chair for us, which really stood out. The bartenders and hostess were very in tune with what was going on around them. They were quick, attentive, and helpful, which made everything run smoothly. We originally wanted the lychee mojitos, but they were out of lychee, which was a little disappointing. We ended up keeping it simple with an espresso martini and a vodka soda and both were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the salad and fries. I enjoyed them. My friend felt like the salad had a slightly fishy taste, but it worked for me and was up to my standards. I liked the addition of chopped mango in the salad, which was a different experience that surprisingly worked really well together. For our main dishes, we had the oxtails and the jerk chicken and they were absolutely amazing and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the jerk chicken. It tasted like it came fresh off the grill and gave me a tropical, nostalgic vibe. I would definitely love to come back to this spot and I am really happy I got to experience it with my best friend.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Mango Bay. I was slightly disappointed as the menu I had seen online had some dishes I set my heart on and they were not available when we arrived (ie not on the menu) and as a fair warning I believe one dish isn't available before 6pm. It seems like perhaps the executive chef changes in the last year. That being said , it is wheelchair accessible via ramp. There are a number of mocktails available, and the Peppa shrimps seemed to be a universally popular choice across the table. Hostesses were all lovely. The food more than makes up for the small disappointments, however, as flavors were layered and complex.

Mango Bay is a beautiful restaurant! As soon as you walk in you are greeted by lovely staff. There is upstairs seating along with main floor seating. Music was amazing, I was living for the throwback dance hall and reggae music. Drinks were soooo good. I got the Brooklyn love and my gf got the soursop feels. Food was delicious and flavors were amazing. My favorite was the goat over the puff pastry. I 100% recommend this as an app. The only reason I would give this a 4/5 is because the oxtails were a bit tough. There was some very tender but had a hard time chewing through others.

I came here for dinner and I didn't want to come because my friend came and she didn't like it. I was concerned the food would be bad but my friends choose it as their birthday dinner so to Brooklyn we went. So first it was an hour commute from Harlem to Brooklyn on the train. So let's get to the food, the food was surprisingly delicious. We ordered a lot and I must say I had a great time. So we ordered the butternut squash soup and it was amazing, they top it with duck which gave it a nice crispy texture and the soup was so good. I still think about that soup. Then we had the ackee and saltfish egg rolls which were good but I have never had ackee before so I didn't have anything to compare it to. The dough was amazing, and the filling was good as well. We also ordered the ribs, that was not good they were burned and a small portion. We had the famous sweet plantain gnocchi and that was also good. Then for the entrees we ordered the fish, the oxtail, the lamb and the burger. I enjoyed my fish very much and I'm glad ordered it. My friend's lamb was ok and the oxtail was ok too. We ordered dessert which was ok. My drink was good. The service was good, the waiter was nice. The place has two floors and we sat upstairs, which has more of an intimate atmosphere. So overall the experience was good and yes it was pricey but things are expensive so it is fine. If you live in the area, then yes you should try it. For me, I don't see myself returning, it is far and my favorite item was the soup.

Loved my experience at Mango Bay! I came with a larger group of 9 and a small baby and the staff here did a wonderful job at accommodating our group. We tried a variety of dishes but the stands out were the shrimp and grits and the fried chicken! The menu is on the pricier side though. Aside from that, it is such a vibe here! The music was on point too - I appreciated that they played some classic soul oldies on a Sunday!

Getting reservations here took a bit, we had to wait for over a month to come in but wow was the food worth it. I wish I could give it 5 stars just because the food was amazing but I was not expecting the hiccups we had. Although we had a reservation, our table wasn't ready so we were waiting by the door and as you know, NYC is cold so it was annoying every time someone else came in it got really cold and the place was super crowded and the bar is too small for space so we were cramped just waiting. Once we got to our table we waited over 15mins for the menu because the host forgot to give them to us. They apologized for it (bc we had to ask) and after that the experience was marvelous. We ordered drinks which were yummy. The goat puff pastry was amazing, the jerk Caesar salad delicious and then for our meals we tried the oxtails with rice and peas, sweet plantains and jerk chicken with festival bread. Everything was absolutely delicious and it quickly changed the unpleasantness from earlier. We decided not to order dessert because we were super full and the server still brought us out a mango puff pastry to apologize for the wait. This was such a sweet gesture. You must eat here, just make sure to be ready to wait but I promise it'll be worth the wait!

Loved the ambiance at Mango Bay. The space has an elevated, refined feel, and we were warmly greeted before being brought to our table. They have a spiral staircase too, which looks great but definitely requires watching your step. I was impressed by how easily the servers move up and down it. I went for a brunch date, and the food and drinks were really good. The only downside for me was the price. A side of avocado is $9 for just two thin slices, and our total came out to a little over $150 for two people (including one salad to go). While everything tasted great, I'm not sure if I'd go back at that price point.

The food here is pretty good. We came for my nephew's birthday. Started with the curry puff and saltfish eggrolls. Both were super flavorful. Our table had every main offered. I had the jerk chicken, it was good, not spectacular. What is spectacular here is the ambiance. Warm brownstone that was really well decorated, good bathroom. Service was decent, although the waitress seemed overwhelmed. I like what's going on here, but visiting here would be more for the vibes than the food.

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence. Upon arrival the restaurant is very clean, and the service was fast. There is a dine in area as well. The woman who took my order was very patient , and personable. I ordered a brown stew fish, cabbage and 3 small soups. Everything came out to about $49. The chicken soup was very good . The cabbage was also very good. The fish on the other hand was very salty and not worth the $20 charge (fish with no sides). I get it the area etc etc but for the price the food should be top notch. The other establishments are much better. Would I return.....I don't think so .

Escovitch fish meal which came with plantains, rice and peas, and spinach. Everything was still warm and tasty when I arrived home. The order was packaged nicely. Definitely, nice portions for the prices. Place is clean. Staff is friendly, informative, and service was amazing. It takes about 10 minutes for the fish since they make it to order. I will soon be back and may have them do some catering orders for me( usually order from the location on flatbush). Pop in if you ever get in the area and want some hot warming food.
