    "Brooklyn Love"
    Fernando Painizwar R.

I recently visited a restaurant with an ambiance that immediately impressed me. Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly smiles and promptly seated as a walk-in guest. The back waiter offered water, and my main server quickly welcomed me, setting a positive tone for the evening. For drinks, I ordered the "Brooklyn Love." Unfortunately, it tasted like a variation of a Mai Tai and didn't live up to its name or my expectations, leaving me searching for the essence of Brooklyn in a rather ordinary cocktail. The food, however, was a standout. I ordered the jerk chicken with fried plantains and rice, which was authentically prepared and absolutely delicious. This dish required no adjustments and highlighted the kitchen's strengths. Ratings: - Upon Entry: A- - Décor and Ambience: A - Guest Experience: A - Beverage Program: C (predictable and uninspired) - Dining Experience: A Overall, the restaurant delivers an excellent dining experience with a warm and inviting atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious food. However, the beverage program could benefit from more creativity to match the quality of the cuisine.

A True Caribbean Dining Experience! Mango Bay, Brooklyn, NY I had the pleasure of dining at Mango Bay on September 18, 2026, with a party of five, and let me just say... Mango Bay, you have a new fan! This beautiful two-level restaurant puts a fresh, creative spin on Caribbean flavors without losing the heart and essence of our traditional food. The menu selection is excellent, and we ordered five different dishes, including appetizers. Every single dish was delicious and beautifully presented. You can truly taste the thought and creativity that goes into the food. A special shoutout to our waiter, Malik! He was an absolute pleasure to have serving us. Professional, attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful. He made excellent recommendations for both drinks and food, and his service made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Malik, you deserve your flowers! And let's talk about the DRINKS! Whoever was bartending that day (I was told he was a busboy trying out for the bartender position) deserves five stars as well! Every drink that came out was not only delicious, but the alcohol-to-mixer ratio was PERFECT. You could tell that the drinks were crafted with care. Please give that gentleman his recognition because he did his thing! Now, in the spirit of keeping it real, the only thing I personally didn't care for was the eggplant served on top of my Branzino fish. That's simply a matter of personal taste, but other than that, everything was excellent. The staff was awesome, the service was on point, and the food was worth every bite. We arrived for our 5:30 PM reservation, and there wasn't a long wait for our party of five. If you're willing to pay for excellent food, exceptional service, and an overall delicious dining experience, Mango Bay is definitely a place you should check out! Whether you're planning a date night, a night out with friends, or simply looking to enjoy great Caribbean-inspired food, this restaurant is worth a visit. There was music playing, which added a nice vibe to the evening, but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't enjoy our conversations. That's a huge plus for me! I'm also curious to see what Mango Bay does with the upstairs back atrium area in the future. I could see that space being a beautiful setting for a private brunch, daytime gathering, or some type of special event. The possibilities are there! To everyone who lives in the area: Go support this restaurant and try the food for yourself! You won't know until you experience it. I most definitely will be back the next time I visit New York, and trust me, I'm bringing my people! Mango Bay, thank you for a wonderful evening. Keep doing what you're doing! See you soon, Mango Bay!

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I enjoyed the curry goat on the plantain gnocchi - best part of my meal for sure. The portion size for the gnocchi was disappointing giving the $25 price point for an appetizer. I got the branzino as my main and subbed the white rice it came with for rice & peas. The fish and escovitch were solid but desperately needed salt. The rice and peas were slightly undercooked and lacked flavor. It didn't taste like any herbs or aromatics were used. Service was okay, ambiance was nice. Check it out if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't recco going too far out of the way to go.

Wifey and I came here to mark our wedding anniversary. We sat outside on a pleasant summer evening, enjoying the Brooklyn vibes. We started with drinks, prosecco and a refreshing lychee cocktail. I tried the Sorrel Spritz which was good also. They were out of the dishes we were really interested in so we just got a few appetizers. We got the scallops, crab stuffed oysters, and ackee and salt fish egg rolls. Everything was delicious. Each dish had a sweet component that we were a little dubious about, but the kitchen had a restrained hand in each case so we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was polite and had good vibes. Maybe because 18% gratuity is included on each bill. Eating out in 2026 usually means $$$ and this was no exception. All in all we felt we celebrated our anniversary with the lavish meal we were looking for, and would go back again. The vibes were high!

Went here for a small birthday dinner. The space feels intimate. I'd need to go back and try other items, because the experience was just okay for me. I did like that we pretty much closed out the place and were able to enjoy great convos at the table. The 2 cocktails I had weren't memorable for me and my guest thought the sorrel was weak. I wish the branzino was fillet, but like the veg stuffed inside. Service was okay.

Extremely disappointing experience. They ran out of rib eye and lamb shank by 7 in the evening on a Saturday. The hostess was professional and nice. Everyone else was frazzled like this was their first day. The drinks were okay, nothing memorable. The food tasted good buy not $44 a entree good. Some people in my group complained that everything had a spicy level they didn't expect but I thought it was good. Guest were screaming and pushing around their chairs at other tables. It's really loud so if you want to talk to your group during your meal it maybe challenging. I am going to give them another chance in the future, but so far this has been one of my worst dining experiences of 2026.

A knockout!!! I came here for the first time and decided to try some of the options here. My partner and I first started with the pomegranate ribs and that was absolutely delicious. It started the evening very well, then, the drinks came and mine definitely punched me in the face. Of course I had wray and nephew in it so I already knew the power that this packed. My partner had to spritz, which was pretty fine. When the main entrée came, the oxtail was certainly delicious, I've certainly had better, but it was good enough for a restaurant quality type of oxtail, rice and peas tasted great as well along with the sweet planted. My partner originally wanted the lamb shank, but unfortunately, they ran out. So she had to settle for the ribeye, which wasn't bad at all. We ended up becoming full halfway through the meal so we just took it all. I will say, it is a very pricey restaurant, though being that it's in the downtown Brooklyn area so do be prepared to spend. Outside of that it was a beautiful day outside, great food, and great drinks.

I was hyped to try Mango Bay...each time I wanted to go i could not get a reservation. I was lucky to just randomly check and a friday night reservation was available. The staff was so attentive. From the host to the bartender to the waitstaff. Also. Very knowledgeable about the menu..thats rare nowadays. Unfortunately, my food was just ok.... I ordered the branzino however they were all out. Ugh We tried the ackee and saltfish egg rolls. These were cool however the pepper jack overpowered the flavor of the calaloo and saltfish. I ordered the pepper shrimp as a main. The dish came out room tempature, the dumplings were tight and hard and the sauce was more smoky than spicy. I opted for the salmon instead. The salmon was nicely plated, hot and flavorful. We also tried the lamb shanks with sweet potato mash..again the food temperatures were off. Our lamb was hot but mash room tempature. The sweet potato mash good of had a bit more sweetness. However the lamp was flavorful and tender. We ordered a side of saffron potatoes and sweet plantains...these were the highlights for the nite. The drinks and cocktails were really good..I would go back for the vibe and appetizers.

This place was actually really refreshing to visit. It's an upscale-ish Jamaican restaurant, serving traditional Jamaican food with a twist. Me and my friends ordered the ackee and saltfish eggrolls, the oxtail curry, and the shrimp. The eggrolls were phenomenal. It really was a cool Jamaican/Asian fusion dish. I think the oxtail could use a little bit of work. It definitely more sweet than savory. I also wish that the oxtail had more meat than bones. The ambience is very trendy. They do have an upstairs, with a really nice spiral staircase going up. Our waitress and hostess were great. All in all, this is a solid place to get some drinks and dinner. It's nothing out of this world, but with a couple of girlfriends or for date night, this could definitely be an option.

Uh uh this place is definitely over hyped. Beautiful ambiance and good music. Bar service was attentive but once we sat down our server basically forgot about us. My drink was delicious, after that was the fries omg best thing I had all night and after that was the burger. But hard to mess that up. Everything else we could've skipped. The curry goat puff pastry lacked flavor and was not a true curry. The pepper shrimp were so oily and lacked flavor as well.

I've had Mango Bay on my list for so long, but the operation hours never align with my random schedule. Sad to say, I was very underwhelmed with most of my experience. I was attending a birthday dinner, got there early and was seated at the bar. I sat there for 15 minutes before either one of the men said anything to me, yet, they both looked at me several times. One of them was in and out of the back, but stopped, asked if the other guy had greeted me, and then he politely took my order. For the party, they had a prefix menu, with only 2 appetizer choices and 3 entrees. The food was just ok. The Saltfish Eggrolls were better tasting than I thought they would be. For my entree I had Escovitch Salmon, which I didn't really care for. The mocktails I had weren't a hit either. They didn't offer dessert with the prefix. The waiter that we had wasn't friendly. As he was taking orders, I motioned to ask him a question and he put his finger up at me, which I felt was very rude. They asked him to take a group picture and he brushed them off, and the lady who was initially greeting at the door, was walking past and kindly took the picture. Otherwise, the restaurant itself is nice, they have a beautiful spiral staircase that's like the staple piece. I didn't go upstairs to see the layout but the restaurant is nice. I know that you get different experiences with each visit, however, it not a must that I return.

Have been trying to come here for a year so when I saw a reservation, best believe I grabbed it! We arrived and were seated quickly. The restaurant is cute. I came specifically for the curry crab and was really excited to try it after watching a video of the chef making it on Tiktok but when I got there, the menu I viewed online was not the one we were given. It also did not have the jerk chicken option. On top of that 2 of the menu options were not available. I got the oxtail and rice and peas, which was ok. I also got a Lychee Mojito. Service was lacking as the waitress did not seem as if she wanted to be working.

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

Very island spiced and cooked well - Goat was also really strong - Reasonable prices - service with personality What's to jeer - they were out of the jerk chicken unfortunately which I really wanted to try - place is pretty low key and not swimming with ambience
