The vibes are excellent! This is a great rooftop restaurant and the food is amazing. They have a great sushi selection. The drink menu is extensive and they have many great selections. Our only issue was that we ordered martinis and unfortunately they mixed up vodka and gin twice so we had to send our drinks back and have them remade. Otherwise it's great food, great drinks, and fun vibes!
I attended a day party at Mandrake and was blown away by the décor. It's a gorgeous, airy venue with stunning views of downtown Columbus, definitely IG worthy. Even with several reserved sections, we were able to find seating on the balcony. We were told there wouldn't be a dedicated server for our area, but that any server could take our order. With the crowd, it took a while to flag someone down. A special brunch menu was provided for the party, and everything looked great. I ordered the smashburger with pommes. While the food came out quickly, my dish wasn't hot. The pommes were cold and bland (I couldn't even taste salt), and the burger itself was dry. The aioli lacked flavor, and the bacon was wilted. I ended up asking for mayo, ketchup, or mustard to help with the taste. My friend ordered the brunch hash with tater tots, pork belly, a fried egg, and sauce, which she really enjoyed. I sampled it, and everything was hot and flavorful, definitely a better dish. I'm not sure if this open service structure is typical during large special events, but I'd suggest assigning 3-4 servers per section. That would make service more efficient for guests and prevent servers from being stretched in too many directions. The menu did note a 20% gratuity and 2.9% credit card service fee, and our main server was good about reminding guests of the automatic gratuity when cashing out, which I appreciated. I also checked out Mandrake's regular menu and would love to come back for a normal visit. I think both the food and service would be better outside of such a busy, specialty event.

The experience here at the Mandrake is rather exceptional from the moment you step off the elevator and into the created setting. It is clearly set as a fine dining establishment. The entire restaurant overlooks the horizon line and city line of North High St in both directions. My visit this evening was for dinner with my nephew who is a student at OSU but I have been here only for drinks after the 10 pm mark prior when it is open moreso as a refined club atmosphere. Tonight though, we entered for dinner and the vibe was atmospheric in a very relaxed way with great background music going on. You can easily converse and enjoy the guests at your table without any high volume speaking. Tables have a nice distance between them for privacy and they are very comfortable. There is not a bad view anywhere in the restaurant with all seats relatively aimed at viewing the expansive view of the rooftop horizon....sunsets are spectacular if you time it well. We were greeted immediately and introduced to the menu and its content in full detail. Our server was KYA and she was truly exceptional in personality and her knowledge of the menu and its items. Her recommendations were spot on and well received. She gave us plenty of time to make decisions and timed the items to come out incredibly well so that the table was constantly well maintained. Our glasses were kept full the entire time and the plates were cleared immediately as they were emptied of their food. That element is a pet peeve of mine and I LOVE a team that makes such a beautiful effort to get things right. This team absolutely does. Once the food started coming out, it was obvious that they take a great pride in presentation. The menu is mainly set up as a small plate option which is a lot of my preference so there is a lot of variety on the table. No disappointments here. You have plenty of options as we chose several sushi rolls, a hummus trio, some waygu temptations (a dumpling version that was sensational and a carpaccio version that was plentiful and thoroughly delicious), and a couple vegetables (INCREDIBLE broccolini). The food did not in any way disappoint!! I cannot leave this review without mentioning the holiday season beginning as the restaurant was fully embracing Christmas and the holiday season. It is very festively decored and perfectly welcoming. I will very much look forward to my next visit here next time in town. It is a must do if you are looking for an elevated dining experience that is still comfortable, welcoming, and absolutely delectable!!
Mandrake Rooftop is located up top Moxy hotel on the 10th floor. Beautiful views of Columbus. First let me say I have mixed reviews of Mandrake and wanted to love it. It was my first time up here along with my group of girlfriends. We booked a table in advance and came dressed to impress unlike some others around us. A dress code was posted on the website so we were shocked people even got in wearing some of the things we saw. The service felt rushed and bothered. The food was expensive and underwhelming. The drinks didn't even taste like there was a full pour of alcohol in them. I will say that the whipped feta was a must and I enjoyed the filet. I will not be back and would definitely not recommend coming more than once just to experience it. I will leave it to other people to make their own judgements themselves but you won't catch me here again.
Came here for my birthday and had such a great time! The rooftop is beautiful chic but still cozy, with that perfect indoor/outdoor blend. Definitely an upscale vibe but not stuffy. We started with appetizers (calamari, pomme frites with blueberry catsup + garlic aioli, and a wagyu sushi roll) and they were all amazing. The calamari was fried perfectly, super crunchy and fresh, and the sushi was flavorful and delicious. Even the blueberry catsup was a fun twist on fries. For mains we tried the lamb & beef kebabs and chicken thigh, both with turmeric rice and greens. They were fine, but not as exciting as the starters. The kebabs were more of a sausage roll style (not chunks of meat like I expected), and the chicken came sliced more like a breast. The rice was also a little soft. Drinks were good (though my husband didn't love his), and the service was honestly wonderful, our waitress was super sweet and all the staff were quick and attentive. One thing to note: later reservations have a time limit, which at first I found odd, but it makes sense because after dinner the place shifts into more of a nightlife vibe, fancier than a bar, more vibey than a lounge. Overall, a gorgeous spot with great service, fun food twists, and a lively vibe. Perfect for celebrating something special!
I've been here a few times and every time the atmosphere and food are bomb! I recommend the Tequila Clearly if you are a tequila drinker or their espresso martini is a fave! Staff is always nice and attentive. This is a good spot for a girl dinner or hangout.
They have a wide range of drinks, including seasonal ones like their Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice, which was a slightly sweet and very smooth drink, as well as signature mocktails like their Pretty in Pink, which was very refreshing. I was sad they were out of graham crackers for the graham cracker crust on their Pumpkin spice cocktail but they adjusted and still were able to do a sugar rim. Their menu was extensive with everything from sushi to steak. They had a good mix of American items as well as Asian and Middle Eastern fusion dishes. The pomme frites were really good- fried were crispy, zaatar spice added a great flavor and the blueberry catsup was sweet but surprisingly tasty and paired well with the garlic aioli. The tuna with crispy rice was flavorful and the pieces of jalapeño helped to cut down on the heaviness. The steak was super tender- cooked perfectly and paired with potatoes and fried onions. I liked how the creamy sauce came on the bottom so it wasn't drenching the steak as well. For dessert, we had the paradise which was a vanilla bean cake with roasted coconut mousse and the French mocha roll. Both were good but I especially like how the mocha roll was not too sweet and had such a great texture. Service was phenomenal and our server made sure we felt welcome and comfortable. Keep in mind that you do have to pay for garage parking, which is the case for most places in short north. They had such a great view of downtown and with the weather getting warmer, I definitely want to be back for outdoor dining!
Had such a wonderful experience at Mandrake last night with my boyfriend. Even the outside of the elevator is beautiful, and when we arrived on the 10th floor we had some great views. Warmly greeted when we arrived, and shown to our table with cushy seats overlooking the city- just lovely. Our waitress was so attentive and went over the menu with us thoroughly, giving us her recommendations, most of which we took and really loved. She even allowed me to try a couple wines before I made my decision. We got a couple cocktails, trying the Trix are for Kids and High Fashion. I loved them both, but High Fashion was the winner for me, just a touch of sweetness. I was happy to see how many gf options there were, and glad to hear about the organic and fresh the ingredients are at the Mandrake. So excited to try the bang bang shrimp, something I rarely get to have because of my gluten intolerance. It was crunchy yet tender and just the right amount of kick. Our least favorite part of the meal was the corn small plate, something about it just was off, wouldn't get it again. We both decided to go with sushi, getting the Rock and Roll and North High rolls. They were delicious, and again gluten free! Super filling rolls, we couldn't finish. The prices are a bit high, but for a nice night out, it was a great experience. More of a clubby feel, and when we left at 830 it was getting busy. But we were treating super wonderfully, all the staff was friendly and attentive, I definitely recommend for a nice evening out.
We went during Happy Hour on PURPOSE in order to avoid the crowds and folks just meandering around just to "be seen," or to take a couple of Instagram photos. Everything here is ON POINT! For Columbus, OH I got serious LA VIBES outta this place with the ambiance, grass walls, and music. The service was fabulous as the waitress and host were very accommodating and attentive. The drinks were stellar and the appetizers and entrees were EXQUISITE! What shrimp appetizers during happy hour do you know where they give you close to 30 shrimp cooked to perfection? The views were awesome and couldn't be beat as well. We even had our kiddo with us and he loved it and got treated great as well! Great experience and we'll definitely be back but before they get jumpin jumpin in there. ;)

My husband came here for our anniversary. It was both of our first time being here. You come into the lobby, and there's an elevator with a screen. The lady at the desk checks you in and then presses 'Mandrake' on the screen, kinda cool. The Mandrake is a rooftop bar, but it has an inside, so we were able to go in February. When it's warm, I imagine it's fun to be outside. You get great views of the city, and it's a great ambiance for a date night. Now, on to the food! They still had their restaurant menu but also allowed us to order items off that menu a la carte as opposed to having to get all three courses. I got the bison tataki (Black garlic ponzu, fried shallots, radish, microgreens) for an appetizer. The bison was pretty rare, so, a bit chewy in parts, but very flavorful. I had the sunset roll for my meal (soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, salmon, salmon eggs, honey crunch, wasabi, and eel sauce). The menu boasts that their sushi is the healthiest in the world, and I will say, it is VERY good, some of the best I've tasted. The salmon eggs on top gave a burst of moisture with each bite, the soft shell crab was fresh, the cucumber and honey crunch crisp. I only wish it came with more rolls! This is upscale dining, so you're going to spend upscale prices. But with the city views, and the high quality food, it's absolutely worth a visit read more

Food: Food menu was different. Variety of items. I really enjoyed the fries& flatbread pizza. My children liked the wings. Everything was warm and the platters were decorated beautifully w/ garnishments. Service: Great service. We had our own servers. As I was there for a surprise engagement. They kept our drinks full and food flowing. Staff was friendly and the manager was very accommodating and helpful to my best-friends fiancé as he planned this for their engagement. He even put up a rope to section off the area we decorated specifically for the engagement to take place. We were even allowed to enter before they opened on a Sat to setup/ decorate. Great new rooftop in the Short North. It can be a little confusing finding the place since the door is on a side street and not directly on High Street. You take the elevator straight up. I've never made a reservation for a table, but was able to get to the bar and order drinks to sit at a table outside. I've gotten the Pinkies Up, Rose, and Mylk Punch along with trying some other people's drinks. Their cocktails are amazing, but as expected, on the pricier side. Service is good. The first time I went my phone was dying and a waitress went out of her way to grab her phone charger so I could charge it at the hostess stand. I wish I remembered her name! I haven't had their food so I can't comment on that. read more
No because why is this the most majestic rooftop restaurant in all of Columbus?! Mandrake has been on my mind since it opened last year. Multiple times we've made reservations and had to cancel due to our own scheduling conflicts, and then winter hit and we wanted to wait until the weather got warmer. I will be honest--after so much time had past, I had felt not as eager to go here and plus the reviews had me questionable, and it deterred my husband from wanting to try it; however, I was still so curious because all the pictures of the food and views looked great, so we made it! If I were to put it simply--do not let the reviews deter you. Genuinely, I am actually confused why this place wouldn't be rated a lot higher. We had one of the best experiences in Columbus for more reasons than one. HIGHLY recommend. We were blown away. Here's why: -Location...absolutely stunning. I do believe this is the best rooftop restaurant/bar in all Columbus. I've been to a few now, and nothing was more magical than watching the Sun set here and looking over short north. -Atmosphere...they REALLY nailed vibes here. Every detail of the restaurant to the lights at the table, to the table itself, the plants, every where you look, you see the love and care that went into this place to bring it to life. You will not find anything like this anywhere in Columbus. That alone is worth the higher price tag. You get what you pay for! -Service...staff was absolutely friendly, and fast! Our drinks came out so quick along with our small plates and other food. This, in addition to their knowledge of the menu was the most impressive for me. It was hard for us not to order the entire menu, so we had to cut it down and the level of detail they knew about what's in each dish and plate, I was pleasantly surprised. -Drinks...very creative cocktails with many choices! Come thirsty ;) -Food...everything we ordered was nothing short of amazing. I genuinely mean that. I had low expectations thinking the higher price tag is just for the vibes...definitely not. Actually, the Hamachi Jalapeño was probably the best yellowtail I've ever had in Columbus. High quality fish there and huge cuts of it. That is an absolute must to try, along with the pork dumplings and crispy rice. The wagyu steak was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare, with a delicious roasted garlic (nice touch! Loved spreading that on the steak pieces) -Price...yes, it is probably higher priced sushi than anywhere else in the area...but I'd say it's worth it. Is it a weekly joint you come for? No, but is it a special place you come to celebrate or bring friends to, absolutely. I feel blessed a place like this exists in Columbus at all! And for the hard work and love they put into this place, it brought the value to make it worth the price. We are originally from Southern California, and places like this are in abundance over there....this felt like a little piece of home but in the Midwest. This is one of my favorite spots to visit when I want to vibe on a rooftop bar. The weather was perfect and they had heaters throughout the outdoor area. The food is delicious - never fails and real tasty. The drinks are always fun; they made specialty and unique cocktails. I am so excited for this new Rooftop Restaurant/Lounge at Short North! Everything was BEAUTIFUL here - rooftop view, food, drinks, interior design/decoration, atmosphere... I absolutely enjoyed the experience. It is a perfect spot for a date night or family/friends hang out, especially now that summer is here! They also have VIP nightlife slots for Thur - Sat nights @ 10pm-2am that you can reserve online. They offer tapa style food options and an elevated beverage program. Swipe to see their menu at the end. I tried all of their signature appetizers, a couple of featured dishes and desserts. My top favorites were: pork bao buns, wild salmon roe rice crisps, steak tartare, and paradise sponge cake. Their cocktails were very creative and tasty as well (the ones I had were a bit on the sweeter side, which I personally prefer). As soon as you walk in you forget that you're in Ohio! It feels tropical and luxurious! I was there was a large party of 10, and we all shared some appetizers which are tapas style and we're perfect for the group. Had a great dining experience here. I've been here in the past for the late night vibes: drinking and dancing, but have not had a meal here. We got to try a little bit of everything but the best was the spicy tuna crispy rice. It was so crunchy, held together so well! Could've eaten 3 plates of that! Our server Amanda was a gem! She recommended a bunch of items for us to try and even brought out some new items for us to sample. She brought out the wasabi root for us to have with our food and it was so good to dip our sushi and our steak in! I would've ordered the steak a little more well done, but the head of garlic that came with it was so good! Not a big fan of the pork belly as it was a little too maple-y and sweet not for me. It had components that were familiar to a Vietnamese dish but I'm particular. Hummus came out with some warm pita. If we weren't toward the end of the our meal, I would've had way more of it. We went for an early dinner and it was a small calm crowd for awhile. A dj came in around 10 and you could feel the energy spike a bit. We had the espresso martini and a couple glasses of wine and it made for a great night. Would def be back for the dinner vibes, the night life club vibes weren't for me as I am not a fan of that style of music. More of a rap and hip hop girl, not quite the oontz oontz clubby music. Mandrake is the new spot to be in Columbus. I have been numerous times since their opening and still can't get over how immaculate of a dining experience they provide. The ambiance is lively, swanky, and good energy as it's indoor/outdoor and rooftop. The people are vibrant and the service is spectacular. The food is absolutely delicious. It's tapas styled and they provide an Asian fusion cuisine. If you love sushi you have to get the Short North roll, it's delicious. If you're not into seafood try the lamb chops, they're juicy and delicious. Their speciality cocktails are also to die for. Each uniquely crafted and delicious. This is the most fresh sashimi/nigiri I've found in Columbus. As for drinks, Mykonos sunset was too sweet for me, but my friend loved it. Fan fav for us was definitely the Tequila Clearly. As I did my research of best places to visit in Columbus with the best views, Mandrake rooftop came at the top of multiple lists. I saw that it just opened up back in June in Short North so I was excited to check out what's happening. Once you enter, the views indoor and out are immaculate. The vibes are so cute with the outdoor seating and views of all of Columbus all around 360 degrees and inside were so cute with the forestry, yet hip aesthetic. Even from the ceilings! The employees were all super nice and helpful as well. I got a pink mocktail and it was average. Could've been a little more flavorful/sweet/juicy in my opinion. I also think it would be great to expand the non-alcoholic options for those who don't drink as well. I didn't try any food, but that could be for another time because anytime I come to visit, I'm definitely checking this rooftop out again! read more
Lamb chops chicken wings are fabulous. Chicken wings are crispy and tender. However, the flavor is not to the bone, but it is good. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly that the ambiance's perfect! You would think you're not in Central Ohio staff is very friendly. The service is great. read more

Mandrake Rooftop is an absolutely gem. I forgot I was in Columbus for a moment (minus the beautiful Cbus skyline). The atmosphere was absolutely captivating, from the beautiful art to the gorgeous gorgeous plants adding to the life of the rooftop. Breathtaking views & food options I couldn't find anywhere else in this city. Healthy & elegant food. The service is terrible. They only care about the dress code if you are a person of color or don't have multiple tables. My group was objectified for having bigger chests by a male security guard (one with a perpendicular head in blue) and have had terrible experiences both times I have been here. When asked about the,alleged,infracted dress code violations we were told it was "just up to us/management" with no further explanations. Do not come here!! read more
What a beautiful view from the rooftop. My mom and I stopped here for a drink before heading home from dinner. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday evening, but the weather was perfect for sitting out on the balcony looking over downtown Columbus. We both had a glass of wine while sitting outside. Lots of seating options, comfy seats, bar table which provides the view or sit inside. Looks like a ton of seating available. If you are a White Russian fan, beware they do not have the ingredients to make this. I would also say a younger crowd is the vibe. But worth checking out. read more

When hopping around Short North you might think you want to get a view of the skyline. Mandrake is a solid option. It's really freaking expensive, especially for food. But the cocktails are inventive and tasty. The bartenders are professionals. If you like a dirty martini, the Goat is a great riff on that. read more
We came here for just a drink. we had: the captain, margarita, high fashion and I wish I could remember the name of the last one. Not the best drinks in town, the ambience is good, the service is actually mediocre, we sat for more that 10 min nobody stoped by to ask us if we needed anything, so I went to the bar ordered the drinks pay $82 (tips included) which is a ridiculous price for 4 drinks that were not good enough to justify the money and we enjoy the view. I could recommend other roof bar that is better. The food liked good, I might come for a bite but definitely not for a drink. read more

This place is a designers dream! Extremely thought out. Beautiful bar, well trained staff, nice views and good food and drinks. The bar is stunning, it faces west so they have nice sunsets and a huge terrace to watch it from. I recommend coming in the afternoon, nights can get crazy and really busy. I visited this stunning rooftop for my birthday! the service is phenomenal - our waitress Summer was beyond helpful, had great recommendations, and was very tentative. The green beans and edamame were very tasteful! However, the steak was extremely disappointing. My friend and I both got medium rare and it was basically all fat, our knives could barely get through it and we ended up only eating half. Subpar steak at best. My friends enjoyed the bang-bang, lamb chops, and sushi! The drinks were also delicious. Would highly recommend this place besides the steak! Great vibes and views. Food is mediocre and overpriced. The drinks are delicious and the service is top notch! The place is a little hard to find at first as it is located on a side street off High. You take the elevator straight up to the rooftop as well. This would be a great spot to grab drinks after dinner on a date. read more
