This is a surprisingly large restaurant with a nice ambiance and friendly service. I ordered the agedeshi tofu and the sushi and sashimi for two. The agedeshi tofu was solid. The sushi-sashimi for two came in a beautiful boat, with a large number of pieces. I think the boat is probably large enough food for three. The sushi itself was quite fresh with a good and varied selection. They have an extensive menu and I look forward to trying some other dishes here.
A solid, intimate date night spot. The lights are dim, the drinks are flowing, and the food could not be better. We started off strong with the crispy tuna with truffle oil as our appetizer. Wow, I would come back just for that. Then, for our rolls I got the Kiss of Fire and we split the Angry Lobster roll. I have never seen a sushi roll with a full lobster tail on top of it and I'm glad we chose to order it. Combining two of my favorite seafood items, sushi and lobster, was a brilliant choice. We will be back here, probably sooner than later.
We had Grape as our waitress and she was so sweet and always on top of everything. For appetizers we started with the Spicy Tuna Pizza. They came as four slices and were ok, followed by Miso Soup, Edamame, Crispy Tuna with Truffle Oil and the Shrimp Tempura. All of which were satisfactory. And for rolls we selected the Dancing Salmon Roll, Salmon Family Roll, the Triple Three Roll, Dynamite Roll, Dreams Come True Roll a Spicy and Scallop Hand Roll & Spicy Tuna Roll Hand Roll All the rolls were very tasty. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was very beautiful and aesthetic. Overall a lovely place to visit on our last night in Columbus.
Can't believe I haven't posted 698 yet; it's in my regular short north rotation! Whether it's a happy hour, date night, or just stopping by on a whim for a quick roll, 698 delivers!! The management & service rocks; it's an awesome team! The vibes are on point & everything is delicious! My favorite starter is the spicy tuna pizza; it's so fun, the tuna is extra fresh & it's plated beautifully! The cocktails are extra tasty, a lychee martini pairs perfectly with sushi, but every cocktail is great! The Red Scorpion is one of my favorite rolls, the peppered tuna with the wasabi mayo is an awesome combo; and don't sleep on the sweet potato roll either!! Be sure to check them out!
I came in for a late dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant wasn't completely empty but was not busy. Everyone in the restaurant as very kind and helpful. I loved the decor in the restaurant! I started with a gin & tea, which was crisp and delightful. I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi Combo and boy oh boy was it a good choice! I had no idea it would be served on a big boat but the presentation was only topped by the flavor. Every piece of fish tasted fresh and was cut well. The Center Roll that came with the meal was excellent. The creaminess of the avocado was great with the spicy tuna. Even the miso soup that came with the plate wowed me. My server was in training and both he and the server training him were lovely. Overall it was a wonderful experience
Absolute amazing experience. The food was delicious, ambiance was really fun and the service was top notch. The edamame was a classic starter. The red chili dumplings were such a great addition. They are pretty spicy so keep that in mind but cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. The classic sushi rolls were exactly what you'd expect and the dynamite roll was perfect. Really enjoyed trying this place and can't wait to come back. Shoutout to Claire, our server, who answered all of our questions, offered great suggestions and was extremely attentive!
First time trying this spot. I was walking down high street and noticed it earlier this week I knew I had to try it. It's a Sunday afternoon and the place is dead. I'm the only person here. The restaurant is very cool inside. Nice vibe. I remember the space as El Segundo Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long. I personally like the changes they have made to transform it into an Asian kitchen. The menu is large. You have a nice variety of Asian food options and my favorite...SUSHI! The Short North needed a good sushi spot. I have high hopes. I ordered a Flying Dragon roll and a shrimp tempura roll. They both were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I'm excited to come back for more sushi. I also ordered Beef Bulgolgi. I was very disappointed with this dish. It came out on a hot skillet and it looked like fajita meat and onions. It reminded me of more Mexican than Asian. It lacked much taste at all, except the onion. The meat wasn't tender as advertised in the menu. I was expecting more of a mongolian beef type dish with tender filet mignon beef. This was unfortunately tough. I hate to be that person that returns a meal, but this really wasn't good at all. At the request of the server, I decided to go with a different dish- the Yaki Udon. The flavor was ok, nothing special. My biggest complaint is the noodles are way over cooked and soggy. Udon noodles should have some chew to them. I hate to seem like I'm complaining. I just see some real room for improvement here. The service was good. Friendly and professional. You can tell a lot about a place by how they handle a problem. I thought they handled it well. One recommendation I'd give them is to follow up with the customer after they have taken a few bites of the food. I did have to wait awhile before they circled back to check on me. Remember, I'm the only person in the restaurant at this time. My initial impression is I'd come back here for sushi any day of the week. As for the other Asian dishes, the jury is still out. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe they still have some bugs to work out. I gave them feedback, now it's up to them to see what they do with it. I really want places like this to succeed. I wish them the best!
Beautiful restaurant with aesthetic decor and great service. The menu has a lot of variety to suit all tastes. Ordered the chef's sushi appetizer which was a nice variety of sashimi. Also ordered the crab truffle fried rice, chirashi, and two special rolls. Everything was delicious, my favorites being the two rolls and the fried rice. The chirashi was not what I expected, it was basically a larger plate of sashimi, but I guess since it wasn't specifically called "chirashi-don", I shouldn't complain. Everything was delicious.
We had a wonderful lunch at 698, our sever Claire was great and attentive even with our toddler. The vibe and decor was perfect. Everything we ordered was amazing but the kiss of fire roll and red chili dumplings were my favorite. Definitely will be returning.
I had a fantastic solo dinner at this restaurant last night. I came without a reservation, but was lucky to grab a seat at the bar. The restaurant was absolutely hopping! There were a lot of patrons and the energy level was high. It was very busy for a Friday night, so I would recommend getting a reservation. The menu is beautifully designed with artistic photographs of food and drink that they serve. The restaurant itself is chic and gave sophisticated Izakaya vibes. The bartenders and servers were working furiously and were very attentive. My meal included hot sake, the Omakase nigiri sampler, the Kiss of Fire roll and the truffle fried rice topped with crab. The sushi was delicious and the fried rice was absolutely decadent. I'll definitely be back the next time I am in Columbus.
Trendy decor with both great food and service. Extensive wine and cocktail list with good nonalcoholic options. The sushi was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day and look forward to eating there again. Best sushi in Columbus !
I love it here :) I've been once for lunch and again for dinner and each time I enjoyed myself. My fav spot was the booth by the window, but there's plenty of cute decor to enjoy in other areas. I can't remember the name of the sushi roll I tried, but it was delish along with the mushroom pasta. I came back and tried the shrimp fried rice, a shrimp tempura roll, and a few desserts...all good! Our servers were also very friendly each visit. I'm looking forward to coming back for a solo date and snagging a seat at the bar.

Really fun time with great service, atmosphere, food, and drinks! We got one of the small booths and had Riley as our server. Riley is knowledgeable, attentive, and fun! She picked out cocktails and saki for us based on our preferences. Atmosphere was energetic and happy without being too loud. We got crispy tuna with truffle oil. The truffle oil was subtle and the appetizer was delicious. We then had a couple of rolls - they were beautiful and delicious! I would definitely come back! read more
I suggested 698 for a dinner with friends since it was such a good experience last time. Not to be tonight. It took 30 minutes for our waitress to come to the table after being reminded we were seated. She didn't introduced herself all evening and looking at the receipt at least I know it now. Also, it appeared that they were understaffed for as full as the restaurant was with at least 3 conferences nearby. There were only 2 bartenders so even drinks took a while after our order was placed. Once the drinks finally arrived about 20 minutes later, everything started coming out as well. Japanese 75 was a little sweet but flavorful! The Kyushiki was very nice, like a Japanese old fashioned. The Gin & Tea was delicious again. A dirty martini did not taste right, had no dirty in it and the green olives were soft. The Age Tofu had a nice coating on it and was silky and creamy inside. The beans were very good and had a nice spicy heat to them although over salted. The Veggie roll was huge! Never seen such a big roll! The pickled radish added a nice crunch and overall very flavorful. It does fall apart easily unless you put the whole slice in your mouth at once. The Naruto roll was phenomenal as always. I love the contrasting texture of the crispy cucumber and the soft fish. The Pink Lady roll stayed together nicely with the soy paper and again had nice flavor. The White Dragon was creamy and subtle with the pop of tobiko on top. If I was eating just the food it would be 5 stars again. The service this time, had much to be desired. The entire meal was around $175 for 4 people with drinks. read more

Great experience here! Stopped in last week for an early dinner. Very intimate space but also lots of tables. Only ordered food, so I cannot comment on their drinks. Our server Riley was very friendly and helped us navigate their large menu. Sushi was delicious; I especially recommend the crunchy California roll. Had the shrimp dumplings as an app and 3 rolls between two of us which I thought was plenty of food. Only downside would be that our food took a bit to come out. That being said, great time here and cannot wait to come back. read more

We stopped in for takeout on a Saturday. The restaurant appeared to have a nice ambiance and the front house staff were friendly. Having gotten sushi around the world and in many US cities, the sushi rolls were on par price wise with major cities and a bit expensive compared to smaller cities and towns. I was a bit skeptical if it would live up to the price and my expectations seeing some of the offerings. We had a spicy tuna roll, a bluefin tuna avocado, and a philly roll plus a kani salad. The spicy tuna was a pretty typical offering flavor and texture wise. It was good, but not notable. The Philly roll was good, but had a bit of a vinegar tang to it. Still, it was quite good. The bluefin avocado exceeded my expectations. Beautifully creamy avocado and a delicate textured tuna. Absolutely excellent. The kani salad was lacking in flavor and could use some attention. Overall, we were quite pleased! read more

This place is a total vibe! It's dark and cozy and elegant all in one. My husband and I had Valentine's Day dinner reservations here and it checked every box! We started with appetizers of crab Rangoon and spicy edamame. I only got one bite of the crab Rangoon because my husband loved them so much. They weren't traditional crab Rangoon. They were a little more round and danish looking. They were called "tarts". The edamame was fantastic and we dipped the pods in the crab Rangoon dip. Next we got sushi! Man these were great! We ordered shrimp tempura, add cream cheese and add asparagus. We also ordered the pink lady. These were delicious. I've been searching for Haiku level sushi ever since it closed and this is the closest I've found! For the entree, we ordered General Tsos. This was SO good, but we were full, so we took it to go. Pro tip: if you want sake bombs, order one house sake and 2 bottles of Sapporo. Make your own bombs! read more
698 Restaurant, formerly Harvey and Ed's on High Street. I highly recommend 698 Sushi-Kitchen-Lounge. Reservations are strongly advised, as the exceptional quality of the food and the pleasant ambiance consistently garner high demand. Their menu features the finest sushi in Columbus, complemented by an extensive selection of East Asian-inspired dishes. read more
Had a really lovely birthday dinner here! Service was extremely friendly, and the restaurant looks really beautiful. They have a pretty large menu and our waitress helped us navigate it. We started with spring rolls, the crab Rangoon tarts, and gyoza. All delicious, the crab Rangoon tarts were what I was most looking forward to and I thought they were just ok- the filling sunk a bit so there wasn't much substance to them. Sushi was really great, fish was all fresh and delicious and I loved the proportion of fish to rice- lots of fish! I can't wait to come back here, I don't think their prices are too crazy so I love that The 698 can be for special occasion or just a regular dinner out! read more

We were in for what was supposed to be the Justin Timberlake concert and sadly after it was cancelled we had to pivot our plans. We were recommended this place earlier in the day and it did not disappoint. Everything was outstanding. This was a true dining experience. The food and drinks were amazing. Service from the bar was a little slow, but our regular dining service was amazing. The GM was phenomenal. He helped our table a little bit since they had limited waiters. Once he found it was my friends birthday he made it a little extra special for her since the concert was cancelled and she flew all the way in from Montana. I would come back here in a heartbeat. We had a variety of drinks and food. Some food recommendations are Gin & Tea, The 698, Lychee Martini, The Galaxy Roll, Rainbow Roll, The Smoked Toro, and the Laksa, which was the star of the menu. This place is so cozy and intimate. Very Mexican goth vibes. read more

My favorite sushi roll ever, (vegetarian) peanut avocado roll is a must have. The miso soup & ginger salad are also so good. They have a gluten free meh available as well which makes ordering so easy! The servers are always so friendly and knowledgeable. Love coming here! They also can make cute toppers to each beverage. read more
Wonderful night out for us! Service was very friendly, and the vibes of this new place is beautiful. You can tell a lot of love and creativity went into this place. This is a third restaurant by the same owners I believe of Song Lan in Dublin and 1126. We've been to both and enjoyed them, but this for sure was our favorite out of the three and we will be returning soon. Per usual like the other two restaurants, they've perfected the harmony of their cocktails. Highly recommend the gin and tea cocktail, and they had this great green tea white wine that I've never seen and got curious of-- amazing! This restaurant of the three is more hot food heavy-- however, we were more in the mood for sushi last night. Got the hamachi appetizer, and crispy tuna with truffle oil. AMAZING! Who knew truffle oil and tuna went so well together. Which leads me to the star of the show, which was their fancy smoked toro with truffle. My FAVORITE and still craving it now. This one's a special and not on their menu, but also for it and you won't regret it. On the pricier side, I think $28-30 but trust me, it is quality. It was described as wagyu of the sea which may sound like a upsell, but I've had toro before which is a favorite of mine at high end sushi spots and it is absolutely worth it. You also can't go wrong with the presentation, do it! I know a few have mentioned concern of slow service. We could not have had a more different experience. Our service was perfect, not slow and also not overly checking in, drinks came out quick for us. Maybe they were experiencing some kinks prior to opening and staffing, but they seem to be listening and improving! We can't wait to come back! Check it out. read more

This was such a cute place, and the sushi was amazing!! I came here for a Valentine's Day dinner with my boyfriend and it was the perfect spot. It was intimate, the service was great, and we both loved our meals. We started with miso soups and then split the sushi and sashimi combo which had a mix of nigiri, sashimi, and their Center roll. We also ordered their Tropical roll. All of the sushi was so fresh and flavorful. The Tropical roll was my favorite, it was such a good combination of flavors with mango, shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, coconut cream sauce, and eel sauce - so GOOD. The presentation of everything was so thoughtful and unique. I had the Gin & Tea which came in an antique tea glass and it was delicious! All in all this was a 10/10 experience and I will definitely be back! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good sushi spot. read more
