Fantastic experience at Haru. It was our first visit and we opted for the Tour 15 which was wonderful. The portions were delicious and just right. Edible art! Service was lovely too. Highly recommend.

1 year later we are back and at the Chefs table!! Walked in to a warm welcome. After about 10 min we were seated for our reservation. This place isn't cheap but it is the best and worth every penny if you value HIGH quality, craftsmanship and true love of what you do comes through in every piece of fish they serve. The food looks outstanding and is absolutely delicious. The way they pair each piece with its own twist and siting at the chefs table allowed for explanation of were the fish was sourced, what part of the ocean and or deep sea including details about why they selected it. The experience at the chefs table made it fun, very educational. The restaurant is dark with low light areas. The wait staff is top notch, they know how to roll out the red carpet. This isn't just food it's art.... And they take pride in their dishes and presentation.

Expensive? Yes. Incredible? Also yes. The sushi here was incredible. Given that it's technically in a strip mall, my expectations weren't very high but I was quickly transported and impressed. I've been to quite a few Omakase dinners that left more to be desired and this was not the case here. The dinner here was on par with some I've had in NYC. We opted to add on the premium course which I would recommend highly. The wagyu was absolutely incredible. The courses were timed well and I felt extremely satisfied. One thing to note is that they do not sell wine by the glass. You'll want to order a bottle or do the pairing. We did not do the pairing since my husband had to drive, but coming back I would definitely add that. For the premium omakase, a bottle of wine, and one additional piece of nigiri each, our dinner for two ran around $440 before tip.

Omakase Haru genuinely surprised me, in the best possible way. I dined at multiple omakase spots around the world including Michelin stars and Haru was up there! Top-tier fish quality, great variety, and beautiful presentation. We sat at the counter, and the pacing was spot on with a really nice flow of courses. Every round felt intentional and well thought out. If I had one wish, it would be a brief palate reset midway, maybe a soup or something non-sushi to break things up. Minor note in an otherwise excellent experience. Outstanding meal, we'll absolutely be back. And honestly? The newly hyped omakase spot Roji in Cincinnati doesn't even stand a chance compared to omakase Haru.

This place was amazing! I was so surprised that Columbus had a place for omakase. This was my first omakase experience. We had the regular chefs choice with sake pairing and then added the premium selection bc it had wagyu. Each roll was handcrafted carefully and was so artistic. All the fish was so tender and all the toppings for each one were so carefully chosen and went well with each pairing of sake. Our favorite sake was the yuzu one. Our server Sophia, was great and was detailed about all the rolls. She answered all the questions we had (we had a lot). I definitely want to be served hy Sophia every time we go. See you soon!

Haru is incredible! The best sushi in Columbus. Chef Udi is also so kind & humble, we love talking to him! It is a set menu but everything we've tried there is incredible and high quality, you really can't go wrong if you love sushi. The matcha creme brûlée is to die for--I thought about it for days afterwards The only thing I didn't love is the crepe cake because it was a bit dry. Also. if you want to sit at the counter, you will need to make a reservation in advanced as it does get booked up quickly! Overall, a great gem to have in Columbus!

All I can say is WOW! We had reservations for this place for several weeks now and it was so worth the wait! This was the best sushi I've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and watched the magic happen and learned from the chef about the restaurant's origin story and how the fish is obtained. My favorite bites of the night were the ama ebi (sweet shrimp), Masunosuke (king salmon), and jo uni (sea urchin). I don't think I would have ever ordered some of the other sushi had I ordered a la carte, so I was happy Haru gave me the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful meal!

After several attempts we've finally tried. Reservations thru Open table. Ambience is warm and cozy. Approx only 8 people can sit in front of the chef, which is an additional $10/ person. We didn't really mind that. Theres ample table even for groups of 4-6. We opted for the "Premium Tour", which was "The Tour (9 pcs for $89/person) " but for an additional 3 pcs more of nigiri for $130/person. A total of 12 pieces of Nigiri in all. Out of that 12 pcs we only really liked 4 of them which was the yellowtail, ama ebi, eel handroll and wagyu. The rest like king salmon, bluefin tuna, grunt, toro were just okay. It wasn't a wow moment. We didn't choose the sake pairing which is an additional $55/person. You are better off getting a bottle of wine or sake. We tried the Japanese white wine for $45 a bottle which was lovely. Service was okay, a little slow. Overall experience was okay. We were told they change menu every 6 weeks. Would we come back? Probably not. One experience is good enough. Tip: Don't come hungry. Even with Premium Tour it wasn't totally filling.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Haru. I've realized that I prefer modern fusion omakase over the more "traditional" style, and Haru delivered on that preference. The fish was incredibly fresh, and we enjoyed every dish--even the mackerel, which I usually don't like. The experience was on par with similar ones I've had in bigger cities, and I found the pricing reasonable. The interior is thoughtfully designed, with lighting near the chefs that wasn't too bright. We were promptly seated at the omakase counter, and the servers were friendly and thorough in explaining the courses and pairings. It was a nice touch to chat with the sushi chefs about each dish. They mentioned that the menu changes seasonally, roughly every 4-6 weeks (if I recall correctly). Reservations are essential, as they're typically booked about a month in advance. Be sure to reserve on OpenTable, where you can view availability for counter seating and provide a credit card to hold your spot.

From the melt-in-your-mouth salmon and fresh buttery uni to the perfectly balanced sake pairings, every bite is thoughtfully curated. The service is attentive and elevates the experience without feeling overbearing. Our server Carrie was fantastic. For a refined and unforgettable dining adventure in Columbus, Haru Omakase is not to be missed.

The first omakase experience in Columbus has finally opened! If you do not know, omakase means "up to you" and is really much a chef curated menu. Here, you get 10 pieces + dessert for $89 which is a pretty good deal. "But fish in the Midwest?" You might ask. The fishes are actually really fresh and I love how creative they are. This is no traditional sushi but they add a certain modern spin to it resulting in very well balanced pieces. This might not be the best sushi I've ever had in my life but it is definitely one of the best you can get in Columbus! Definitely swing by sometime!

Located on Polaris Parkway, Haru Omakase serves up amazing Omekase, (a chef-curated dinner, famous for its direct interactions with the chef). The customer leaves the order details to the sushi chef. The word Omakase is Japanese and translates to "I'll leave it up to you".  The service was top notch; the sushi was unique, delicious and presented so beautifully. This is definitely an experience I would highly recommend. I also recommend asking about the wine or sake pairings, make reservations, and ask to sit at the Omakase bar, you'll thank me later. The menu tours start at $79 for an incredible multi-course meal and will have you wanting to come back again. I asked how often the menu would change and was told it would be updated appropriately every six weeks. I can't wait to see how this menu develops over time. Don't forget to tell them: recommended by @ohiofoodie614 on IG.

Came here over the weekend to try out their omakase! I've always had omakase when I travel to NYC, I would say the prices for this is higher than the ones in NYC. It's $79 for 1 aappetizer, 8 sushi and 1 dessert. Sushi by bou has 12 course for $65 plus occasional coupons too. Sushi wise, my favorite would be the first course. The squid bowl is on point! Portion size is alright, the curry one would probably be one of the better one on their course. Their sushi does taste alittle too fishy. it would have been nicer if that had more dessert option. Maybe a second dessert available for people who doesnt like Creme Brule.. I personally like thirteen waters most! But NYC is quite a far drive...

Midway through my meal, they came around to light a candle at the table, which added such an intimate touch, and gave cozy date night energy in the best way. In fact, I believe I was sitting next to a couple having their first date. 2. Plating (4.5/5) The presentation did not disappoint. Everything came out looking polished and thoughtfully arranged. The edamame stood out because they generous with the flaky salt, which I personally loved. Sometimes places hold back, but this was well seasoned. 3. Customer Service (2.5/5) This is where things started to fall apart a bit. I stood at the front for about 12 minutes before being acknowledged, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I had to make eye contact with someone in the kitchen just to be seated. Service at the table wasn't much better. It took about 15 minutes just to get my drink order taken (which I had to flag the waitress down to order), and by that time I was ready to order my whole meal. I ordered an appetizer along with a couple of sushi rolls and some sake. I'm not sure if the waitress wasn't thinking about it, but she brought my rolls out before she even brought out my appetizer or my drink. The inconsistency was noticeable and took away from the experience. 4. Overall Taste (4.5/5) The food absolutely carried! I ordered a sweet potato roll and the Hoonie Roll, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Both were fresh, flavorful, and really well-balanced. Paired with the edamame and sake, everything came together nicely. 5. Overall Experience (3.9/5 ) Taking everything into account, the experience lands just under a 4. The food and atmosphere were strong, but the service created a noticeable disconnect. It's definitely one of those places where you'd go back for the food, but you'd hope the service catches up next time.

And after that soft opening with a regular menu, this week they introduced an all-you-can-eat menu as well. So of course I got there as soon as I could. Quite an extensive menu for AYCE too, though not as big as their standard one. And full of interesting stuff. Nigiri, raw rolls, cooked rolls, deep-fried rolls, specialty rolls, apps, ramen, hibachi, and more. I wanted to try everything, but even though I arrived hungry I just couldn't. Maybe 25 years ago I could have eaten twice as much, and when the students hear about this they will clean them out. It's just down from where Japanese Oriental Restaurant used to be, and I used to save up and pig out there with my friends. Now I eat a bit less, but I still figure I had about $60 worth of sushi for $30. I started with seaweed salad- big portion, and very tasty. Fresh and a little spicy. Then unagi- two big pieces, excellent, tender and flavorful. Then maguro- good, melt in your mouth. Next I tried their "dragon eggs"- deep fried avocado with kani and tuna. OMG. Again, a big portion (two whole avocados, halved and stuffed. Finally, two big rolls: the High Street roll with spicy tuna, and the Seashore roll with salmon, kani, and more. Wow. Big, and tasty. Best sushi in town? No, but up there. Really good. Service was great. They open at noon, at least on weekdays, and I was the first one in. The decor is cool- it's an old house, and they have made it modern but with vintage touches. The bathrooms and waiting area are super cool. There's a bar off to one side, a sushi bar in back, and lots of sleek but comfy seating. Also a huge patio and courtyard out front. Free street parking out front (except during rush hour.) Also a small lot in back. Get here. If you like sushi, or other Japanese food, you'll like it. If you like a bargain, you'll love it. $27, yes, not cheap; but for sushi it's not bad, and for AYCE sushi it is a steal. Atmosphere was modern and soothing. You can get ramen, cooked dishes like tempura, salads, all kinds of things. There's a full bar as well, and areas with cozy or romantic seating. The design was actually pretty cool, you could eat with a group or sit up at a bar by yourself and feel very comfortable either way. The sushi menu itself includes more traditional Japanese sushi, which honestly is what I'd recommend from the AYCE menu. They even have sashimi, which is cut thinly- which is fine, if you want more you can just order more, that prevents excessive waste. Most AYCE places wouldn't offer sashimi anyway. But the traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls were the ones we liked best. The more Americanized rolls with the alternative (non-nori) wraps were not as delicious, in our opinion. We couldn't figure out what it was, whether it was the wraps or an ingredient in the chopped sushi roll fillings. But there's a ton on this menu that was good. Will eat here again. Oh and a short note on large groups- maybe this is not the spot to go with a massive group? It's more of an intimate dining experience, although they do seem to allow big groups. I only mention this because I saw a negative review about slow service for large groups before we went and then the evening we went a group of maybe 10-12 college students impatiently waited by the door to be seated, even though the servers were polite and had to wait for multiple tables to clear at the same time to push together seat such a large group in a smallish restaurant- the patrons kept coming in and trying to sit at random tables before it was their turn. If you have a massive group I'd say split into multiple tables or maybe choose a different, larger or chain restaurant, like El Vaquero or Buffalo Wild Wings? Anyway I hope they left a good tip because the workers were very professional and the group was very large and very impatient.
