Not that you anticipate a traditional Japanese experience when the name is Slurping Turtle, but you would be right if you thought this was going to be what a loud, full of hipster shopping at the higher end mall would be. I sat at the bar dining alone as there was a 20-30 minute wait for the legion of high tops at 1pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Started with the Takoyaki octopus fritters (6 of them) that had a piece of octopus encased in a breading that is then fried. The sweet tonkatsu sauce worked well with the mayo although I'd cut the amount of mayo in half. It is side by side with the tonkatsu sauce rather than mixed so the mayonnaise can dominate a given bite depending on how you pick it up with your chopsticks. They came right out of the fryer so be sure to wait at least a minute for them to cool and so that you avoid the singe when you pop that first one in whole. The Tan Tan Men ramen had a promised kick although nothing that should deter those who are heat limited. Generous ramen and pieces of pork belly and meatballs. Rich broth that you'd expect. I realize the target clientele is running youthful but I think we'd all like to be able to have a chance to chat so I'd lower the music volume just a bit. Hipster vibes ok if the food is good which it is, but you don't need the volume to achieve either. And shout out to Cayla at the bar. She was quick, attentive without pressure or impatience, and obviously knows how to juggle. read more

Mango moment beverage has a prominent mango flavor while keeping an alcohol flavor. I'd highly recommend 10 2. Duck fat Fried chicken isn't super crispy but has an excellent flavor. Salted well and some pieces are crispy. The sauce is creamy mayo based and pairs well with the chicken. I'd insist. 9.5. If the chciken was crispier I'd say 10 3. Takoyaki is soft with a slightly crisp shell. Flavor is subtle but does have a nice octopus flavor. the sauces add a nice flavor in the front end and carries majority of the flavor. I'd recommend. 7.5 4. Duck fried chicken ramen. The broth is spicy with a slight sweetness. The chives add a freshness and the corn adds a crunch along with the bean sprouts. That same amazing fried chicken which was somehow more crispy in the ramen. The noodles cooked in house are soft yet chewy. The eggs is soft boiled and absolutely delicious easily my favorite part. Went in on a cold day - we got there right around 6:15 and there was a wait but it was short. They quoted 20 min but we waited about 5 max. The table itself was interesting- high top but the bar stools were screwed to the floor/not moveable and not very comfy. Our waiter was prompt but busy. We got edamame to share (good but nothing overly special), and each got a bowl of ramen. I had the classic (no spice) and it was tasty! The egg was delish and the pork belly tender. We came on a Friday night without reservations and had to wait 45mins. We registered our name and no. and waited for a text message while we wandered the area. I like the modern interior. Tables are mostly bar height with some regular tables on the sides. There's also outside seating and although the heaters were on, nobody was seated there on this cold November night. Food is decent and tasty. Ramen is nowhere near what a ramen tastes like. Soup is basically an Asian broth. I wouldn't say it's not delicious but can't call it ramen. Duck Fat Fried Chicken is crunchy and tasty. My miso soup came cold. When I complained, server apologized saying this is the last bowl and they're making a new pot. Although that's not a good excuse, she quickly replaced it. I will consider coming back when I'm craving for Asian food. It's a good thing to have where Asian food is scarce. I'd passed by slurping turtle a few times this summer but decided to save it for chillier weather. So glad that day finally came because everything here was delish! The ramen broth was super flavorful and I even liked the chili oil drizzle. Fried sushi isn't my fav, but this roll was tasty. My fav part was the salad on top with the jalapeño vinegarette. Once we entered the place, it was half empty but the guy at the front told us that we have to wait about 1/2 hr, So we waited since I really wanted to try their Ramen. Once we were seated, our server came with the menu. She went over the menu and gave us some recommendation. Our server was really sweet and friendly. We ordered the Red Curry Ramen and the Roasted Chicken Bao. In general ramen noodle is on the salty side, but this ramen was extremely salty, but the boa was decent. I was really looking forward to the ramen but unfortunately the food fell short for me and waiting 1/2 hr to eat salty, mediocre good will not be a repeat. read more

Met a friend for lunch at Slurping Turtle. It was a first-time visit for us both! Thought it was lunch time, it wasn't busy at all and were seated quickly. Fun, upbeat pop music was playing and the space was spotless. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and had the best server (shout out to Chris!) He walked us through their extensive menu, too, which was great -- and also incredibly difficult to choose from! We both went with their classic shoyu ramen; me because I wanted to see how they approached the classic and my friend because it was her first time trying ramen!) Broth was very flavorful, albeit a bit thinner than others I've had. The eggs were perfect, as was the pork belly (big pieces, too, which was very appreciated). The bowl itself isn't the largest, but it filled us both up. For $17, it's pretty expensive for what it is but I would still visit again if I'm in the area. The really nice manager also asked us hoe our lung was, which was really kind. The service here is top tier. I hope that never changes! read more

We arrived on a cold winter evening, and upon arrival, the gentleman at the front told us there was a 25-minute wait (even though there were several open tables). Seeing how this is the only ramen place nearby, we waited to be seated. Once seated, we had a great experience with our server. She explained the menu to us and checked in with us throughout the evening. The ramen itself was not that great - it was too salty for my liking, and there was not enough protein in it. I did enjoy the baos, and although, we didn't get it, the Duck Fat Fried Chicken that some of the other tables ordered looked good. With so many great dining options in the Easton area, and with so many great ramen options in the Columbus area, it's unlikely I will be back here. read more

I ordered takeout here while I was staying nearby for work. There is no online ordering,m so you have to call, but the order was ready within 15 minutes and very fresh! I ordered the small sashimi plate which came with 3 pieces each of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. They were big pieces and very good! The duck fat fried chicken spicy ramen was a 4/5 - good, but did not blow me away. The duck fat fried chicken, which I guess they are known for, was similar to most other karaage chicken I've had before. The size of the chicken bites (3) was a pretty good portion though. I also appreciated having a full soft boiled egg instead of just 1 half of an egg. The broth was packaged separately; the flavor was 3.5/5. I liked the toppings (kimchi, corn, green onions, and possibly bean sprouts). I think the noodles are homemade; pretty good, but not "craveable" in my opinion. The interior is a cute vibe with the turtles! They also have a location in Ann Arbor, MI. I would order from here again, but would probably try the pork belly instead of the chicken if I got ramen! I did enjoy the ambiance of the place alright and the restroom area had a cool anime mural. The food unfortunately fell very short for me though. The Shoyu ramen had waaay too much fish sauce in it and overpowered every other flavor in the bowl. The maki roll presentation was a little sloppy and the flavor was practically nonexistent which was weird considering I was getting a spicy tuna roll. Was so glad to find a slurping turtle in Ohio after we loved our experiences so much at the Ann Arbor Michigan location! We went on a busy Saturday evening and there was a wait, but they were transparent about this and we were able to walk around. Just be prepared this location is busy and for good reason! The food was good, though I don't think it is worth the price point. The tofu bao was fluffy and savory, and the accompanying salad was a nice fresh accompanyment. The spicy edamame was tasty, about on par with the one served at a rather popular sushi chain. The red curry was savory and tasty, but the flavor of peanut felt a little out of place, and I wish there was some acid, like a lime wedge, to balance out a dish that is very oily from the deep fried vegetables. If you are vegan, ramen isn't an option, only rice noodles, and I thought they were a bit mushy/overcooked. The dish is lacking in protein as well (tofu would be nice). Service was kind, quick, and helpful. The ambiance is fine, dining hall style, nothing to write home about. I was pleased it was not too loud on a Saturday night. I appreciate the option for a seasonal cocktail but I certainly did not think the peach fizz was worth $15. I came here because of the hype. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't go back. The service is great and it is a sit down restaurant. My wife is absolutely the best person I know. Those servers have no idea how hurtful they have been to such a gentle, kind soul. I got the original ramen, duck fat fried chicken, and 3 baos. Ramen was good but the pork could have been better. It wasn't melt in your mouth pork pieces. I loved the yolky egg and bamboo. Next time I want to try the tonkatsu bc I do like a creamier broth. The noodles were delicious and chewy. The fried chicken was my favorite. Crispy and came with a spicy sauce. We got the chicken, pork, and veggie bao. All very good. The veggie one tasted like an egg roll! Oh and I got the lychee drink and it was so good! And pretty!
