    Red Dragon Ramen
    Tushar G.

My friend took me here for the first time and it was such a great experience. The Red Dragon Ramen was seriously amazing, like something you would see in a cookbook. The broth had so much flavor and the spicy level 2 was perfectfor me, it actually had a kick without being overwhelming. I also tried the panko chicken which was really crispy and paired well with the ramen. The vibe of the place is also great with all the lamps, flags, and decor. The servers were incredibly sweet and made the whole visit even better. They also have a happy hour menu with some great options at a discounted price, so it is definitely worth checking out. Since it is so close to where I live and work, I will definitely be going back again.

First off the ambience is lovely! Really cool neon wall art, love the colors, there is a private area in the front filled with Sakura flowers, which intensifies the vibes! I got the Tonkatsu ramen, the broth was really good! I always wish they gave more meat but it was pretty good! The staff was 10/10 though very attentive and just by watching them it looks like they enjoy what they do and get along with their coworkers, which is really nice and refreshing to see!

Immediately OBSESSED with this place. It is super welcoming and cozy inside. We planned on ordering a lot of small plates along side our ramen. I got a sake sangria to try and it was pretty mellow and refreshing. Our table got edamame, karaage, gyoza, a momo binchotan, and then my friend got the vegetarian ramen, my husband got the tonkotsu ramen, and i got the black garlic tonkotsu with an added egg. Everything was so delicious! The karaage was nice and crispy, and the sauce it came with was a little spicy! My friend loved the edamame. They said the gyoza was just okay. The momo was delicious and we all loved our ramen. Our bill was a pretty penny but it was so worth it. I want to come back to try more of the binchotan.

The food tasted alright. We tried shoyu ramen 3/5, tonkotsu ramen 3/5, Japanese fried chicken 3/5, chili crisp cukes (2/5). I thought the cucumbers would marinated but it's literally cut up cucumbers with chili flakes. Service was nice and friendly. The ambiance was a nice inside, nothing bad to say but also nothing special. The outside was a bit too busy and it was hard to get parking and it wasn't even a weekend or Friday night so I'm not sure we'll be back unless we have to.

Ordered ramen to go on a rainy Saturday night. This was my first time eating grown up ramen so it's possible I don't love ramen like some people but overall I'd say it was okay. I got the chicken ramen (no spice) which comes with chicken broth and fried chicken. For me the highlight was the fried chicken and egg, both were cooked well (the chicken may have been slightly dry but it wasn't noticeable when soaked in broth) with a good crust on the chicken without being greasy. The noodles (and granted it was carry out) were clumped together despite eating within 15 minutes of pick up. And required some work to not be clumpy. The broth was ok but nothing great in my opinion- a little salty and chicken taste but little other flavors. That said, my friend who eats way more ramen than I do gets a spicy dish and loves this place!

Come here for the fiery buns! They are on the Summer '22 menu and they are incredible. Spicy, crunchy chicken drizzled in kewpie mayo all tucked into fresh steamed bao buns. Addictive. The spicy salmon rice bowl was not as successful. It was a big bowl of rice with some salmon and not much else. The menu indicated spring onions and shallots, but those were pretty skimpy in my bowl. I definitely would have enjoyed more toppings, and felt the dish was not worth the price. Ginger lemonade was very ginger-y. More spicy than sweet. Parking is available in the garage behind the restaurant, but that fills up quickly as it is shared with the hotel and several other restaurants. It has more of a quick lunch place vibe in my opinion, but they do sell several types of beer and sake.

I enjoyed lunch here a lot! It's a no-fuss casual spot where you order at the counter. Great ramen offerings and their spice levels are no joke! I got the miso ramen spicy 2 out of 3 and it was delicious. Definitely could feel it in my stomach haha. Next time I'll try the red dragon which is spicy but has a creaminess to it that the miso ramen does not. The noodles are perfectly cooked. Not too soft not too hard. Good buoyancy lol. Overall presentation is nice too! Noodle dishes are the star here. Tried two apps as well. The kimchi fries had great flavor, but with all the sauces and toppings the fries get a little soggy. The fried chicken appetizer was tasty - but there were quite a few pieces with breading only. Overall I'd definitely come back for ramen. Good value and service.

Love this restaurant! Came around 8 on a Friday and we were able to snag the last table. The service is always fast and efficient, but not overbearing. This time we wanted to try the chicken kaarage and the pork belly buns, so our server suggested we try the kaarage buns. So glad we did!! They were absolutely delicious and something I would get again. The spicy tonkatsu was great as always, but I do wish you could customize your spice level. Definitely the best ramen in the city! I love the small restaurant atmosphere, it really feels like everything is made fresh to order. Get your ramen here!

The service was great the staff was very nice. I think the fast casual set up was convenient but took away from an authentic ramen experience. The ramen itself was not good. The vegetable broth had a weird flavor and the noodles were unlike ramen i have had before may have been undercooked almost but was just not up to par disappointment at best. Will be looking for a different local ramen spot.

I visited Fukuryu Ramen for the first time last night and had a wonderful experience! Since it was my first time visiting, I had some trouble deciding what to order. The employee working the register was very helpful in explaining the menu and helping us decide what to order based on what we like. We both decided on the Red Dragon ramen level 2, and I got panko chicken with mine. I love spicy food, and this level 2 was no joke! My mouth was slightly on fire in the best way possible! I think level 3 would have been too much for me. The broth had excellent flavor, the chicken was perfectly crispy, and I loved the egg that came with it. The only thing I will say is I would have liked there to be more veggie toppings in the bowl such as mushrooms and corn, but you do have the option of paying extra to add those so next time I will try that! I can't wait to return for more delicious ramen bowls!

For my birthday, I was happy to try this place out since this location was close to home. Columbus is slowly becoming the place for all things foodie and geeky and I love that for us! This place is located on the 1280 W 5th Street and Northwest Blvd. There is parking in the front, and the restaurant is small and cozy. The seating is for parties of 4 to 5 but arrangements can be made so talk to a server. The menu offered everything from drinks, small place to ramen and I wanted to try more. We got the salt and pepper shrimp, the Kyushu Karaage (Japanese fried chicken), Hot tea and Takoyaki for a group of 5. Everything was piping hot and delicious and lightly seasoned to bring out the flavors of the overall dish. The servers were sweet and extremely helpful for explaining what things were and me, being a ramen nerd, could sit back and relax. I got the Kyushu Black Garlic Tonkotsu. It was so GOOD!! I love the taste of black garlic and the umami in the dish was so pleasant. The noodles were chewy, and the pork slices were so tender. The Tendernism! It's not that the food is bad per se...but it's not good, especially for the price. For instance, we were served only two banchan - kimchi and gamja bokkeum that tasted deep fried rather than braised. At other Korean restaurants in Columbus, I've gotten up to nine banchan. The seafood pancake, which cost a startling $18-$19, was decently crispy but not particularly generous with the fillings. The jajangmyeon was straight up not good. I've tried making jajangmyeon at home a few times and it's never turned out well; somehow the sauce is just missing an extra...something...that only seems to come through in restaurant jajangmyeon. Bonsai's sauce tasted like the sauce I made at home: simultaneously too bitter and too bland. Most irredeemable for me though, was the soggy texture of the noodles. The only dish that I enjoyed was the kimchi dolsot...but it's also the easiest to make so... In the past, I've been okay with Bonsai's steeper prices and white clientele. The food was worth it to me! Now, however, I'm not sure I will be back unless there is significant improvement.

I was here (solo) at a later lunch hour, so the dining room was quiet, and the service was all mine. The ambience is warm and the service was great. They sent out a complementary plate of crab rangoon, which isn't my favorite, but a thoughtful gesture. And after that soft opening with a regular menu, this week they introduced an all-you-can-eat menu as well. So of course I got there as soon as I could. Quite an extensive menu for AYCE too, though not as big as their standard one. And full of interesting stuff. Nigiri, raw rolls, cooked rolls, deep-fried rolls, specialty rolls, apps, ramen, hibachi, and more. I wanted to try everything, but even though I arrived hungry I just couldn't. Maybe 25 years ago I could have eaten twice as much, and when the students hear about this they will clean them out. It's just down from where Japanese Oriental Restaurant used to be, and I used to save up and pig out there with my friends. Now I eat a bit less, but I still figure I had about $60 worth of sushi for $30. I started with seaweed salad- big portion, and very tasty. Fresh and a little spicy. Then unagi- two big pieces, excellent, tender and flavorful. Then maguro- good, melt in your mouth. Next I tried their "dragon eggs"- deep fried avocado with kani and tuna. OMG. Again, a big portion (two whole avocados, halved and stuffed. Finally, two big rolls: the High Street roll with spicy tuna, and the Seashore roll with salmon, kani, and more. Wow. Big, and tasty. Best sushi in town? No, but up there. Really good. Service was great. They open at noon, at least on weekdays, and I was the first one in. The decor is cool- it's an old house, and they have made it modern but with vintage touches. The bathrooms and waiting area are super cool. Atmosphere was modern and soothing. You can get ramen, cooked dishes like tempura, salads, all kinds of things. There's a full bar as well, and areas with cozy or romantic seating. The design was actually pretty cool, you could eat with a group or sit up at a bar by yourself and feel very comfortable either way. The sushi menu itself includes more traditional Japanese sushi, which honestly is what I'd recommend from the AYCE menu. They even have sashimi, which is cut thinly- which is fine, if you want more you can just order more, that prevents excessive waste. Most AYCE places wouldn't offer sashimi anyway. But the traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls were the ones we liked best. The more Americanized rolls with the alternative (non-nori) wraps were not as delicious, in our opinion. We couldn't figure out what it was, whether it was the wraps or an ingredient in the chopped sushi roll fillings. But there's a ton on this menu that was good. Will eat here again. Oh and a short note on large groups- maybe this is not the spot to go with a massive group? It's more of an intimate dining experience, although they do seem to allow big groups. I only mention this because I saw a negative review about slow service for large groups before we went and then the evening we went a group of maybe 10-12 college students impatiently waited by the door to be seated, even though the servers were polite and had to wait for multiple tables to clear at the same time to push together seat such a large group in a smallish restaurant- the patrons kept coming in and trying to sit at random tables before it was their turn. If you have a massive group I'd say split into multiple tables or maybe choose a different, larger or chain restaurant, like El Vaquero or Buffalo Wild Wings? Anyway I hope they left a good tip because the workers were very professional and the group was very large and very impatient.

I was in the neighborhood today and decided to pick one up for late lunch/early dinner. Overall, it was okay. Expensive for the relatively small amount of food in my opinion, especially the beef rendang, but I realize beef is costly for restaurants lately. The rendang was tender, but not as flavorful as I was expecting (more salt might have helped). The coconut kale was a bit strange - I'm going to say that's mostly because I'm not a fan of kale, period. The vermicelli side was a nice addition, and the rice was great. I liked the mustofa potatoes, although they weren't "crispy" as described. The reheating instructions said to take out the little cup of potatoes first, but when cold they would have come out in a single clump, so I popped them in the microwave by themselves afterward for 15 seconds and that did the trick. Other issues: "consume by" date was yesterday. I don't worry too much about that kind of thing, but if you do, you might want to check your order before you leave the premises. Also, the container was too big to rotate in my small microwave. It worked out okay anyway. I tasted the sambal I got - nice heat, but again, not as much flavor as I was looking for. I'm sure I'll use it up elsewhere. Got a couple other things for lunch tomorrow, I'll update after I've tried them (pork bun, and cucumber salad). Bottom line: probably not your best choice for Indonesian food, if you're already familiar with it. Fortunately there's a place that's supposed to be opening later this year in Clintonville. Update: bumped up my rating based on the strength of the pork bun and cucumber salad. The bun: tender and fluffy like it was supposed to be. The filling - pork belly falling apart, perfect, cucumber on top, and a few shreds of pickled veg that I would have been happy to get a bit more of. Don't know what the condiment on the bun was, but all in all it was a very nice package for my lunch. The cucumber salad was delicious. Chili crisp made in house over chopped cucumber - lovely contrast. The chili crisp provides a nice little bite, not "hot" (YMMV, I like hot foods) but really tasty.
