This shop is beyond adorable! I've been to a lot of the other shops around here, but never inside of the restaurant. My husband and I ordered at the kiosk and noted that he had a seafood allergy, and after placing our order, one of the employees discussed his dishes and made some accommodations to ensure he would not be consuming seafood. It meant a lot to us! I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with chicken katsu on top. My husband was informed that the Tonkotsu contained shellfish, and he switched to Miso broth. I was very excited to try my very first Dango as well. It was super cute and the texture was great. The soy glaze on top was kinda honey-eqsue but also a bit savory. Overall I would've chosen a different flavor for the glaze if I had the option. read more

Everything I've had from Tensuke Market was so good!!! From the ramen, to the onigiri, to Belle's Bread, everything was divine. The staff were all kind and there's definitely a reason people are here before it opens. The place was well kept and clean. Cute aesthetic. read more

Love to eat here when I drive to Columbus! It has a loud and fun atmosphere, and is always full and happy. You can order on the iPads, and pick up drinks from the cooler. There are a variety of ramens, bowls and appetizers. I like the shrimp tempura a lot, but I can't remember which ramen I have tried. read more

I created an account just to specifically post this review. The food is god awful, everything came out ice cold, barring the actual shoyu broth which was room temperature at best. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, how they stay open with dishes of this quality is beyond me. I will shout from the roof tops to every friend, enemy, colleague and lover I interact with to avoid this place like the plague unless they're on a crusade to avoid flavor. 0/5 and may god have mercy on their souls. read more

This is a nice casual ramen place with comfortable seating and cute modern dining area! We visited on a Saturday evening and it was busy but not too crowded. We ordered at the cashier and were able to find a seat right away. We enjoyed the ramen a lot- portion sizes were good and noodle texture was perfect! Just got the udon since we also brought over some sushi from tensuke market to eat, but it was really good! The udon broth was really light but still rich and satisfying. The noodles tasted really fresh rather than like the frozen ones you can just buy from the store. And it was lot more filling than I expected. The service is also really quick. The whole process from putting in your order to getting your table and receiving your food is really efficient and it's not too hard at all to find seating. read more

We loved Tensuke Express - very tasty and just what we wanted. Two of us had ramen -- I picked the miso base with pork added. So good! Hubs had the chicken ramen, the chicken pieces were big and the broth was good and mild. He might try a more spiced up ramen next time. Daughter had the Chicken Karaage and a pumpkin croquette. She said they were both great! The restaurant was clean and bright, ordering was easy and staff were efficient. We waited a bit for our orders, which wasn't surprising on a busy Friday at lunch time. Everything was hot and tasty. I would definitely go back, and check out the Japanese bakery and gift shop in the same center again as well. read more

This place is tied for my number one ramen spot in the Columbus area. Their Miso broth is crazy good. They are located in a small Japanese market with other Japanese establishments. Inside is clean and they have lively Japanese music. The staff doesn't really communicate with customers and just tap in orders. Their menu recently changed, and I am still trying to decide if it's better or worse. One thing that bothers me in this place is that their disposal is separated by item and there's a tub of mixed ramen fluid by the trash and it makes my ramen come up every time I look at it. Besides that, this place is a must-visit. read more

I'm a great fan of Tensuke Express. I've eaten at a few ramen restaurants in the area and Tensuke Express is hands down the best place to get ramen. I had the tonkotsu ramen. The noodles are handmade and have an exquisite bouncy texture. The broth is rich and creamy and just the right level of saltiness. The restaurant is consistently clean and bright and the staff are pleasant and efficient. If you are going for lunch, I would recommend going right at 11 am, since the restaurant is least busy at this time. read more

Craving for some udon and Tensuke Express is the place to go. I added a side of pork katsu and an order of Takoyaki. They recently introduce a Japan Food Tour series and they have a combo set of special menu from different part of Japan. I actually didn't know I have to order it as a set until the staff mentioned that to me. So sadly I skipped this time as udon is what I felt at that moment. read more

This was a pretty disappointing visit. We waited 40 minutes for our food because the buzzer didn't work, even after I went up and checked to see if there was an issue after the first 20 minutes . They just said, wait for the buzzer. So I went back to my seat. Finally after another 20 minutes, I went up to the counter and they said, we've been calling your number repeatedly! Then why do you give me a broken buzzer when you just call out the order numbers?? I couldn't hear them since I was waiting with the buzzer in the other room. (This restaurant has 2 main dining areas) Other customers were also complaining of broken buzzers So by then the food was all cold. Luckily the woman was willing to prepare another meal so at least my food was hot. Also the air conditioning was not working on a 100-degree day. Not sure why since the restaurant was completely packed on a holiday weekend, and in a place that serves hot ramen and soup. At least the food was decent. read more

If you are in the Columbus area, I highly recommend Tensuke Express if you are in the mood for ramen or curry. Their prices are great per portion for the most part; due to inflation it looks like they're cutting back on their generosity a bit (look at the amount of katsu they gave me in each pic) But everything tastes great. I was super hungry when I went to Tensuke Express. This is a restaurant near the japanese market. The ordering is at the counter and they have a ton of different options. You get a buzzer to get called when your food is done. It gets very busy very quickly, and it has a bustling and light vibe. I was so hungry that I decided to get the karaage with the ramen too. The karaage was very crispy with nice breading. It had a light feeling, with a dusting of breading. You could tell the chicken was also marinated. The lemon was a nice touch. I was very impressed by the value of this chicken given that the side was only $5. The ramen also was good. I think I got the regular tonkotsu ramen like I usually like. The egg noodles had good taste and texture, and the broth was very good and rich. I liked the pork belly. I do like my pork belly on the fattier side and there was a lot of good flavor in it, but the piece I got was almost *too* fatty. The egg and sauteed greens were good and tender. They did not have that many extra toppings. I think you have to add on those yourself, but that is fine. The overall value, I think was $12 or so for the bowl which was GREAT for the very good overall taste. read more

They're located on the other side of the Bethel Center where the rest of the like chili hot pot and those places are they're a really good Ramen place. I like their food. It wasn't that expensive honestly and the surface was super quick. The ambience is more it's not loud but it's not super quiet people kinda keep to themselves. It's not boisterous. It's not kids running around and screaming at high heaven or anything, but you can go sit and enjoy some Ramen and a drink or two I don't believe they serve alcohol at least not when I went that day, although I've never had alcohol with Ramen I probably wouldn't be a good thing, but who am I to say anything? I would definitely go back and I do plan on going back one day hopefully soon and they're not that far away from me. read more

Popular spot. A friend suggested I try it. According to him it is authentic Japanese. I tried some of the beef curry and the Udon noodles with tempura shrimp. Both were delicious. The service was super slow and the line really long because of it. The young man at the counter was odd and rude. I asked for a to-go container and he smirked at me and pointed at them on a counter behind me. It was as if he thought I should just know where the containers were. But besides this, I thought the food was worth coming back for. I will definitely be back. read more

I was very excited to try this spot because I've seen all over the internet that it's a "Top 3" ramen spot in Columbus, but I have to say it didn't quite live up to my expectations or the hype. The ramen itself was fine. The broth was okay but lacking a bit of flavor. The consistency was very milky and thick which was good and the noodles were also quite good. The topics were lacking a bit. A think I got two small slivers of chicken. And a soy egg came with the ramen but... I only got one half of it? I feel like this is the first time this has ever happened to me The service was fine. It was of average amount of time to get the food. It's counter service so you're given a buzzer and have to retrieve your own food and bus your own table. That said, I was very grateful they didn't ask for a tip at the counter. The restaurant was very clean, had a reasonable volume for the music, free water was readily available as self-serve, and the staff was friendly. I'd return if someone asked me to go, but I don't think I'd do so on my own. read more

One of my favorite spots to stop by in Columbus to get some Asian grocery shopping done and then grab a quick lunch. Our family usually orders a sushi platter from Tensuke Market to share and then we grab a couple ramens from Tensuke Express. I'd recommend ordering the platter ahead of time because it does take some time to make. The sushi tastes fresh with a good variety and the ramen has a decent broth for an express restaurant. It's located in a convenient plaza with Belles Bakery and Kung Fu Tea right around the corner to check out for dessert. read more

Not suitable for vegetarians. None of the ramen options are vegetarian. Even the miso choice has chicken stock added. I was advised my only options were some cutlets, a sad iceberg salad, and a starter. I went on a Friday around 12:30 and ordered tonkotsu ramen, extra noodles and chicken karrage. The place was busy but plenty of empty seats and mostly clean. (Some tables I was going to sit had food crumbs, some garbage.) the whole thing cost about $24 which in my opinion a bit pricy. Tonkotsu broth was under seasoned and bland. The noodles had a nice bite and the karaage chicken was tender. This place has its own parking and you can always find spots which is a plus. The service was friendly and food was ready super fast. The menu has a lot of add-on options which could be a bit confusing so if you go for the first time, it might be helpful to check out their menu beforehand so you know how it works. When you are done, you take the plates to a designated place but that was a little confusing to me. I had some broth left over and I wasn't sure if I could place the bowl in the designated bin with the broth left still left in the bowl (all other places said "no garbage"). Other food or other ramen could be good but I didn't enjoy the Tonkotsu one as much as I had hoped. read more

Tensuke is my "everything" place. Had a bad day? Go to Tensuke and a pork cutlet will cheer you up. Had a great day? Go to Tensuke and celebrate with a bento box. On a first date? Tensuke. Birthday? Be warned that they close in the middle of the day on certain days. Which is completely fine... but we walked in without seeing the hours on the door. We had no idea they were closing. Everything looked normal- the menu was up, people were at tables, the ordering iPad was on. We started ordering and a gentleman interrupted us to tell us they were closed. We had to cancel our order and walk out. I'm not sure why they wouldn't lock the door before kicking customers out. It was very frustrating. My husband had already bought sushi and this place has the only seating. He ate in the parking lot while I waited to go somewhere else to eat. This doesn't mar our love for the rest of the Tensuke village, but this experience was frustrating and, honestly, embarrassing. read more

For me Tensuke is a 4.5 star restaurant. Coming from California I found Tensuke to be a surprisingly good ramen joint. They have a cute shop that efficiently pumps out high quality ramen. My favorite is the N2 which is a standard tonkatsu that is done really well. The broth is creamy and tasty with large thin fatty slices of chashu, an egg, and an assortment of seaweed and spinach. The quality of the food here varies a little especially towards the end of the day but still one of the best ramen places in Columbus. I have also tried the kimchi pork ramen and the shrimp tempura bowl. The shrimp tempura bowl was actually pretty bomb, and the kimchi pork miso ramen was good but nothing amazing. Overall, Tensuke is a great place to grab a bowl of noodles and is one of my go to places in Columbus. read more

For a quick authentic Japanese food experience, Tensuke is your kind of place! They expanded a few years ago so there is a lot more seating available and it's so cute on the inside. The prices are decent considering how much food you get! The one thing I always appreciate is how well mannered the employees are. They will take your card and hand it back to you with both of their hands ALWAYS!! You order at the register and they give you a buzzer to let you know when you're order is ready for pickup. On Sundays they are pretty packed, but it's a quick turn over! While you wait, you can go to either sushi ten next door or Tensuke Market to check things out since the buzzer works within the proximity. I highly recommend Tensuke Market!! I typically get one of three things: Tonkotsu Ramen with a mini chicken teriyaki bowl ($1 off the bowl with a ramen purchase), a yaki udon with chicken, or udon either regular or curried udon. I have never had a bad dish here!! The Tonkotsu ramen is so rich and full of pork flavor. The pork they top off the ramen with is tender and falls apart! YUM! The mini chicken teriyaki bowl is always so juicy and i have never had overcooked chicken here which is wild. Their rice is perfectly cooked where it's soft and moist, but not too sticky. The yaki udon has a slight curry flavor to it. It's all so good you need to try it all!! They have a organized trash system for where you need to place things. They separate it by liquids, chopsticks, trash, and then a place to put your dishes. I am sure I am missing something, but go visit this place if you haven't! read more

BIG thanks to fellow yelp elite Eve for the rec!! SO: it's sort of a surprise to head in here. The place looks SO unassuming!! You walk up to the counter and order, but there are benches to sit on, to peruse the menu. Then you snag your table, and wait for your order to be called out. WE LOVED every single thing we ordered. It took me back to Japan! I got the Okonomiyaki and it was as if I was in Osaka again. I loved that so many families were there, and that the kids were so into the food. Surprisingly, for a fast service restaurant, this food was table service quality. Handicap parking is at the front lot, so easy access. There is a bigger room to dine in, or a smaller front room, with big windows (where we sat). GO! read more

I am in Columbus for a work trip and am staying not far away and thought I would give it a try. Unassuming location and basic design but I am now OBSESSED with the miso ramen with spicy pork and kimchi. The broth is like velvet, just enough spice for flavor and so rich. The pork is fork tender and the kimchi was the perfect crunch to go with it. I typically eat small portions but I plowed through the entire bowl, and if I had room for it I would have drank the rest of the broth. I almost made it! I took it to go and the packaging was brilliant; the broth was on the bottom and the ramen, pork and kimchi were packed separately on the top so the noodles kept their texture. It took about 15-20 minutes to arrive but it was totally worth the wait. The young lady that waited on me was knowledgeable and super friendly. I don't come to Cbus often but I will visit this place again! read more

The absolute best place to grab what you need for Japanese fare. From snacks to fish to even sushi to go or bits from Belle's Bread. You're sure to leave with more than you intended. I've gone to Tensuke Market many times in the past, being a former Ohio resident. In the past, Tensuke Express used to be immediately adjacent to Tensuke Market. Now, with the advent of Sushi Ten, Tensuke Express is now further away from the market, more spacious, and has more seating. All of my friends in the area said they wanted to stop by Tensuke Express, so that's where we went. I was hoping to actually get a bento to heat up and bring to Tensuke Express, but the sign said no outside food, so I ended up ordering from the menu there. My wife and I shared a miso ramen, beef curry, and chicken karaage. The chicken karaage was quite crispy and juicy. The miso ramen was very strong but not overpowering. The beef curry was quite hearty. The price was definitely a bit high relatively to the serving size, but overall the food was good. read more

Tensuke Express used to be my favorite restaurant for ramen. Typically I order takeout. The noodles and soup have always been super flavorful with great portions. However, they recently changed their portion sizes, and changed their noodles and broth. The ramen noodles used to be wavy and tastier, now they are thinner and have less flavor/aren't wavy. Their broth seems to be lacking in flavor compared to before. The portion size has definitely been reduced for both the soup and the noodles/toppings, yet the pricing is the same as it was previously. This is no longer going to be my go-to ramen place, I think I'd pick Kyushu over Tensuke Express now. It's really disappointing that they suddenly made these changes to their food/portions. read more
