I created an account just to specifically post this review. The food is god awful, everything came out ice cold, barring the actual shoyu broth which was room temperature at best. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, how they stay open with dishes of this quality is beyond me. This place is tied for my number one ramen spot in the Columbus area. Their Miso broth is crazy good. They are located in a small Japanese market with other Japanese establishments. Inside is clean and they have lively Japanese music. The staff doesn't really communicate with customers and just tap in orders. Their menu recently changed, and I am still trying to decide if it's better or worse. One thing that bothers me in this place is that their disposal is separated by item and there's a tub of mixed ramen fluid by the trash and it makes my ramen come up every time I look at it. We loved Tensuke Express - very tasty and just what we wanted. Two of us had ramen -- I picked the miso base with pork added. So good! Hubs had the chicken ramen, the chicken pieces were big and the broth was good and mild. He might try a more spiced up ramen next time. Daughter had the Chicken Karaage and a pumpkin croquette. She said they were both great! The restaurant was clean and bright, ordering was easy and staff were efficient. We waited a bit for our orders, which wasn't surprising on a busy Friday at lunch time. The restaurant is consistently clean and bright and the staff are pleasant and efficient. It wasn't that expensive honestly and the surface was super quick. The ambience is more it's not loud but it's not super quiet people kinda keep to themselves. It's not boisterous. It's not kids running around and screaming at high heaven or anything, but you can go sit and enjoy some Ramen and a drink or two I don't believe they serve alcohol at least not when I went that day, although I've never had alcohol with Ramen I probably wouldn't be a good thing, but who am I to say anything? I would definitely go back and I do plan on going back one day hopefully soon and they're not that far away from me. read more

They recently introduce a Japan Food Tour series and they have a combo set of special menu from different part of Japan. I was advised my only options were some cutlets, a sad iceberg salad, and a starter. It was of average amount of time to get the food. It's counter service so you're given a buzzer and have to retrieve your own food and bus your own table. That said, I was very grateful they didn't ask for a tip at the counter. The restaurant was very clean, had a reasonable volume for the music, free water was readily available as self-serve, and the staff was friendly. I was super hungry when I went to Tensuke Express. This is a restaurant near the japanese market. The ordering is at the counter and they have a ton of different options. You get a buzzer to get called when your food is done. It gets very busy very quickly, and it has a bustling and light vibe. I was so hungry that I decided to get the karaage with the ramen too. The karaage was very crispy with nice breading. It had a light feeling, with a dusting of breading. You could tell the chicken was also marinated. The lemon was a nice touch. I was very impressed by the value of this chicken given that the side was only $5. The ramen also was good. I think I got the regular tonkotsu ramen like I usually like. The egg noodles had good taste and texture, and the broth was very good and rich. I liked the pork belly. I do like my pork belly on the fattier side and there was a lot of good flavor in it, but the piece I got was almost *too* fatty. The egg and sauteed greens were good and tender. They did not have that many extra toppings. I think you have to add on those yourself, but that is fine. The overall value, I think was $12 or so for the bowl which was GREAT for the very good overall taste. read more

One of my favorite spots to stop by in Columbus to get some Asian grocery shopping done and then grab a quick lunch. Our family usually orders a sushi platter from Tensuke Market to share and then we grab a couple ramens from Tensuke Express. I'd recommend ordering the platter ahead of time because it does take some time to make. The sushi tastes fresh with a good variety and the ramen has a decent broth for an express restaurant. We had to cancel our order and walk out. I'm not sure why they wouldn't lock the door before kicking customers out. It was very frustrating. I went on a Friday around 12:30 and ordered tonkotsu ramen, extra noodles and chicken karrage. The place was busy but plenty of empty seats and mostly clean. (Some tables I was going to sit had food crumbs, some garbage.) the whole thing cost about $24 which in my opinion a bit pricy. Tonkotsu broth was under seasoned and bland. The noodles had a nice bite and the karaage chicken was tender. This place has its own parking and you can always find spots which is a plus. The service was friendly and food was ready super fast. The menu has a lot of add-on options which could be a bit confusing so if you go for the first time, it might be helpful to check out their menu beforehand so you know how it works. When you are done, you take the plates to a designated place but that was a little confusing to me. I had some broth left over and I wasn't sure if I could place the bowl in the designated bin with the broth left still left in the bowl (all other places said "no garbage"). Other food or other ramen could be good but I didn't enjoy the Tonkotsu one as much as I had hoped. read more

For me Tensuke is a 4.5 star restaurant. Coming from California I found Tensuke to be a surprisingly good ramen joint. They have a cute shop that efficiently pumps out high quality ramen. My favorite is the N2 which is a standard tonkatsu that is done really well. The broth is creamy and tasty with large thin fatty slices of chashu, an egg, and an assortment of seaweed and spinach. The quality of the food here varies a little especially towards the end of the day but still one of the best ramen places in Columbus. I have also tried the kimchi pork ramen and the shrimp tempura bowl. The shrimp tempura bowl was actually pretty bomb, and the kimchi pork miso ramen was good but nothing amazing. Overall, Tensuke is a great place to grab a bowl of noodles and is one of my go to places in Columbus. read more

First we waited 10 minutes longer than some others who ordered a few minutes after we ordered. The food was cold and the ramens were greasy (a thin layer of grease floating on top). Since when is chicken broth creamy-oily? Very little greens and stuff in the soup. A very bad value. But the ramen noodles were exceptionally good. Nothing else was good. My wife got a ramen with the miso broth, also very thick and oily. And cold. We won't be back. My wife corrected this review to say only the broths were a little warm but the noodles and veggies were cold. And this was not a cheap meal. read more

Stepping into Tensuke Express, which might have changed names to Tensuke Ramen now, you image this is what it would be like to walk into a fast casual restaurant in Tokyo. I have eaten there at least a dozen times in the last six months, and I've yet to order something I don't like. Today was the Shoyu ramen (chicken broth with soy sauce) with spicy pork kimchi. The heat was no joke, but not overly spicy. My typical go to is the Miso ramen with cut chicken breast, which you'll dream about at night. Order anything. You won't go wrong. Walking around the Japanese market next door or popping in Belle's Bread close by makes this place more than just a place to eat. It's a fun outing. read more

I am in Columbus for a work trip and am staying not far away and thought I would give it a try. Unassuming location and basic design but I am now OBSESSED with the miso ramen with spicy pork and kimchi. The broth is like velvet, just enough spice for flavor and so rich. The pork is fork tender and the kimchi was the perfect crunch to go with it. I typically eat small portions but I plowed through the entire bowl, and if I had room for it I would have drank the rest of the broth. I almost made it! I took it to go and the packaging was brilliant; the broth was on the bottom and the ramen, pork and kimchi were packed separately on the top so the noodles kept their texture. It took about 15-20 minutes to arrive but it was totally worth the wait. The young lady that waited on me was knowledgeable and super friendly. Tensuke Express used to be my favorite restaurant for ramen. Typically I order takeout. The noodles and soup have always been super flavorful with great portions. However, they recently changed their portion sizes, and changed their noodles and broth. The ramen noodles used to be wavy and tastier, now they are thinner and have less flavor/aren't wavy. Their broth seems to be lacking in flavor compared to before. The portion size has definitely been reduced for both the soup and the noodles/toppings, yet the pricing is the same as it was previously. This is no longer going to be my go-to ramen place, I think I'd pick Kyushu over Tensuke Express now. It's really disappointing that they suddenly made these changes to their food/portions. read more

For a quick authentic Japanese food experience, Tensuke is your kind of place! They expanded a few years ago so there is a lot more seating available and it's so cute on the inside. The prices are decent considering how much food you get! The one thing I always appreciate is how well mannered the employees are. They will take your card and hand it back to you with both of their hands ALWAYS!! You order at the register and they give you a buzzer to let you know when you're order is ready for pickup. On Sundays they are pretty packed, but it's a quick turn over! While you wait, you can go to either sushi ten next door or Tensuke Market to check things out since the buzzer works within the proximity. I highly recommend Tensuke Market!! I typically get one of three things: Tonkotsu Ramen with a mini chicken teriyaki bowl ($1 off the bowl with a ramen purchase), a yaki udon with chicken, or udon either regular or curried udon. I have never had a bad dish here!! The Tonkotsu ramen is so rich and full of pork flavor. The pork they top off the ramen with is tender and falls apart! YUM! The mini chicken teriyaki bowl is always so juicy and i have never had overcooked chicken here which is wild. Their rice is perfectly cooked where it's soft and moist, but not too sticky. The yaki udon has a slight curry flavor to it. It's all so good you need to try it all!! They have a organized trash system for where you need to place things. They separate it by liquids, chopsticks, trash, and then a place to put your dishes. I am sure I am missing something, but go visit this place if you haven't! read more

You walk up to the counter and order, but there are benches to sit on, to peruse the menu. Then you snag your table, and wait for your order to be called out. WE LOVED every single thing we ordered. It took me back to Japan! I got the Okonomiyaki and it was as if I was in Osaka again. I loved that so many families were there, and that the kids were so into the food. Surprisingly, for a fast service restaurant, this food was table service quality. Handicap parking is at the front lot, so easy access. I've gone to Tensuke Market many times in the past, being a former Ohio resident. In the past, Tensuke Express used to be immediately adjacent to Tensuke Market. All of my friends in the area said they wanted to stop by Tensuke Express, so that's where we went. I was hoping to actually get a bento to heat up and bring to Tensuke Express, but the sign said no outside food, so I ended up ordering from the menu there. My wife and I shared a miso ramen, beef curry, and chicken karaage. The chicken karaage was quite crispy and juicy. The miso ramen was very strong but not overpowering. i love tensuke LOL clearly precovid (2016-2019 indoor review and pics) uhhhh i forgotten how many times i've eaten here. it's probably the most affordable and staple of japanese food in cbus. i love a lot of stuff on their menu and i think that if ya wanna get japanese food that isn't ramen like donburi (rice bowls), udon/soba, etc etc-- tensuke is always delivers and is so solid. i know that their lines and waits are usually longer which i don't mind at all and the free water and plentiful dining space are always so great. i really like their beef rice bowl, tonkatsu, soba/udon, spicy pork bowl, kakiage the topping. i love this place and i cant wait to stop by when i'm back in columbus read more

Tensuke Express is a nice expansion of the former version of itself. Wanting some good Japanese comfort food, I visited here twice in the past four months during my business trips to C-Bus.
