TONKOTSU RAMEN
Aubrey L.

My husband and I just stopped here before we saw a movie. I've passed it several times and always been curious to try it. We both got the tonkatsu ramen, but I got mine spicy and with bok choy. We both really loved our meals. It was delicious and the pork was so tender, it just melted in your mouth. The waitress was really friendly. My husband also got the frozen mango margarita. I'm not a drinker and am very sensitive to the taste of alcohol, so believe me when I say it did not taste like alcohol at all. The only downside was the restaurant was pretty loud, it was at times hard to hear each other speak. But not a big deal to me honestly.

TONKOTSU RAMEN; KATSU DON; GESO KARAAGE; TAKO YAKI

Zundo Ramen & Donburi, started from Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, recently opened up along N High St. There is plenty of table seating along with bar top and patio available. Other than ramen, they do have some unique option from the appetizer and donburi [Japanese rice bowl] front. Such as soft shell crab, Kaki Fry [Deep Fried Oyster] and Loco Moco Don [Rice bowl with beef patty and egg]. Plus, some selection of fruit and bubble tea. One thing to highlight for their ramen is from the ramen broth to the ramen noodles, everything are freshly made in house from scratch. I got myself a Tonkotsu Ramen and love the broth is super rich and flavorful. Along with the chashu that are tender and slightly charred. And please give a moment to the Katsu Don, rice bowl topped with deep-fried pork cutlets with egg, green onion and ginger. First of all, that perfectly cook pork cutlet is juicy, along with the egg and onion. Flavor is totally on point and I just want to encore on the rice for it. Secondly, that rice bowl is huge and can easily feed two people. Also can't forget my favorite appetizer, Takoyaki and I really like that Geso Karaage [Deep-fried squid legs] as well.

Karaage

Surprisingly good ramen in Columbus, OH. The chicken karaage was perfectly fried; tasty and flavorful ramen with a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. The eel onigiri I ordered on the side was just as delicious.

Seafood Ramen

Wanted something simple. This was exactly what I was after. Started with the seaweed salad and then the seafood ramen. Generous amount of broth, and noodles. The other ingredients were a good ratio as well. Would definitely come again.

Onigiri, TATSUTA-AGE, cucumber salad.

Peanut and tree nut allergy safe. At the time of this review this restaurant doesn't use any peanuts or peanut oil. Called ahead to ask about allergy and asked at the table and they took everything very seriously and were extremely thorough with ingredients and cross contamination. The waitress was especially nice and professional with being asked multiple questions. The food itself was also delicious. I ordered a couple appetizers and onigiri. Cucumber salad was refreshing and fresh. Tatsu-age was crisp and flavorful with a lemon on the side to squeeze on it. The two onigiri (salmon and mentaiko) tasted great and had a good ratio of filling to rice. I haven't had anything else on the menu so I can't speak on those items but everything I ordered I was very pleased with. Overall a peaceful and relaxing lunch. I'm sad I'm not a local but I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box - so good and large portion!

Food and service were great. The place was clean and cute. The ramen is scrumdiddlyumptious! We will be back to get this again and again!

SPICY MISO RAMEN

Wow the noodles on this ramen, best I have ever had hands down. And the pork belly was thick and melted in my mouth. The jammy egg was perfect. The broth was good but not the best I've ever had, the chili oil leveled it up. It was a little dead in there when we first arrived but it's still new of course. Service was friendly and attentive. It was clean and the bar looks pretty cool! However, no liquor license yet. This is probably top 3 Columbus ramen for me - will be back!

That veggie ramen was not made with love. I might be spoiled, but I think I could do a better job, and that says a lot.

Simply the best ramen I've ever had here in Columbus. No notes, just a bowl that is leagues above its contemporaries.

We spent $230 (w/ tip) and it was worth every penny. Probably the best Japanese restaurant in the city. We passed by this place multiple times on our way elsewhere. We're Mario fans, so the name Yoshi caught our eye, but the cramped strip mall exterior doesn't exactly scream culinary dream. We decided to take a chance, and let me just say--wow. It's an intimate space with just a few tables and an 8-10 seat sushi bar. We didn't have reservations (make one, they fill up fast) but managed to snag seats at the bar. The service immediately stood out. We had better attention here than at some upscale steakhouses--glasses never went empty, and their menu suggestions were spot on. One minor heads-up: at the sushi bar, staff sometimes walk behind you to talk to the chefs, which can be a bit distracting. For starters, we grabbed the gyoza and asked for a standout small plate. They pointed us to the beef tongue. It arrived hot with shredded onions and spicy mustard, delivering a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness with a deep, beefy richness. The gyoza was equally flawless. Instead of the overly chewy or burnt wrappers you find at most spots, these had a delicate, golden-brown sear with an intensely savory, garlicky umami filling. We paired this with Sayuri sake, a creamy, unfiltered pour that perfectly balanced sweetness with a dry, clean finish. Since we love nigiri, we ordered a spread: tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, sweet shrimp, and Japanese scallop, plus a salmon/avocado roll. The cuts were impeccably sourced and practically dissolved on the tongue. You rarely find this level of consistency. Just a heads up--they prepare it the traditional way, meaning there is a dab of wasabi tucked directly under the fish. We also tried the Wagyu A-5 roll. It's about as "meat and potatoes" as a roll can get: steak, carrots, asparagus, and rice. The seared Wagyu fat melted instantly, creating a decadent, buttery glaze over the crisp vegetables. It's one of those rare foods that genuinely forces you to pause after each bite. At $40, it was 100% worth it. I can't say enough about this experience. Next time, we're leveling up to the fatty tuna and Wagyu experience on their special menu. That's the exact culinary peak we've been looking for, and incredibly, it's tucked inside a suburban strip mall. Absolutely brilliant.

Fukuryu is the first ramen place I've tried that lets you customize so many of my favorite extras--mushrooms, fish cakes, and egg. You can also choose your spice level; I went with half chili , and it was perfect for me. Spicy enough to leave a pleasant lingering heat without being overwhelming. I'm glad I read previous reviews because they definitely deliver on the heat they promise. The only downside was that the pork wasn't as tender as the chashu I'm used to in ramen. That said, the rest of the ingredients and the noodles were well-prepared, with great flavor and texture. I would definitely order Fukuryu ramen again.

The broth had so much flavor and the spicy level 2 was perfectfor me, it actually had a kick without being overwhelming. I also tried the panko chicken which was really crispy and paired well with the ramen. The vibe of the place is also great with all the lamps, flags, and decor. The servers were incredibly sweet and made the whole visit even better. They also have a happy hour menu with some great options at a discounted price, so it is definitely worth checking out. Since it is so close to where I live and work, I will definitely be going back again.

I was in the neighborhood today and decided to pick one up for late lunch/early dinner. Overall, it was okay. Expensive for the relatively small amount of food in my opinion, especially the beef rendang, but I realize beef is costly for restaurants lately. The rendang was tender, but not as flavorful as I was expecting (more salt might have helped). The coconut kale was a bit strange - I'm going to say that's mostly because I'm not a fan of kale, period. The vermicelli side was a nice addition, and the rice was great. I liked the mustofa potatoes, although they weren't "crispy" as described. The reheating instructions said to take out the little cup of potatoes first, but when cold they would have come out in a single clump, so I popped them in the microwave by themselves afterward for 15 seconds and that did the trick. Other issues: "consume by" date was yesterday. I don't worry too much about that kind of thing, but if you do, you might want to check your order before you leave the premises. Also, the container was too big to rotate in my small microwave. It worked out okay anyway. I tasted the sambal I got - nice heat, but again, not as much flavor as I was looking for. I'm sure I'll use it up elsewhere. Got a couple other things for lunch tomorrow, I'll update after I've tried them (pork bun, and cucumber salad). Bottom line: probably not your best choice for Indonesian food, if you're already familiar with it. Fortunately there's a place that's supposed to be opening later this year in Clintonville. Update: bumped up my rating based on the strength of the pork bun and cucumber salad. The bun: tender and fluffy like it was supposed to be. The filling - pork belly falling apart, perfect, cucumber on top, and a few shreds of pickled veg that I would have been happy to get a bit more of. Don't know what the condiment on the bun was, but all in all it was a very nice package for my lunch. The cucumber salad was delicious. Chili crisp made in house over chopped cucumber - lovely contrast. The chili crisp provides a nice little bite, not "hot" (YMMV, I like hot foods) but really tasty.

I ordered a crispy cucumber salad and not only was the cucumber not crispy, there was hardly anything in the container. The same was true of the ramen dish. For the money, this isn't a value. I felt ripped off. All of the reviews are from many, many months and years ago, so something must have changed.

For my birthday, I was happy to try this place out since this location was close to home. Columbus is slowly becoming the place for all things foodie and geeky and I love that for us! The seating is for parties of 4 to 5 but arrangements can be made so talk to a server. The menu offered everything from drinks, small place to ramen and I wanted to try more.
