    Japanese Fried Chicken rice bowl
    Noa M.

My boyfriend came across this new restaurant in a 614 Now article. Dömo Donburi is a ghost kitchen that has specific dates and times they're open. Ordering must be completed online via Grub Hub, Door Dash etc. There was a problem with our order, so we immediately got a call from the staff to rectify it; that's much appreciated! We got the tempura shrimp steamed buns, Japanese Fried Chicken Rice Bowl and Curried Chicken Rice Bowl (?). The fried chicken was served over rice, with a little bit of cabbage and a side sauce. The meal was filling and the chicken was perfectly crispy. The sauce added a lot of flavor... but there wasn't enough of it with the generous portion of chicken. We really loved to steamed buns, despite it being so spicy. It the bun itself was gloriously pillowy and was packed full of flavor. There are two in the container, by the way. Overall, if you have a chance, definitely check this place out for a satisfying and uncomplicated meal.

Plus, I figured hibachi can take awhile, and I usually don't have a long time for lunch. Today I had a little more time, and I made a point to head over. It is a bit out of the commercial sprawl at the corner. Look for the food truck, that's the first thing I saw, and it helped me find where to turn in. I wasn't sure if there would be dine in, but there is, plenty of seating inside and out. Inside there are seats at the counter, plus booths, plus I think a couple tables. Menu is pretty basic: hibachi and a few sides. I got steak and chicken, with fried rice, and you pick two vegetables so I picked cabbage and bean sprouts. You get a Yum Yum sauce, and you can add others, but I didn't need them. And the sauce container they gave me was plenty big. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked in a nice sauce. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. And it all came out in about five minutes. They had a steady stream of carry out customers, but they still got mine on the grill, apparently as soon as I ordered it. Fast and good, and competitively priced for hibachi. A big portion, but not a huge, two days' worth of leftovers portion. But I was stuffed and couldn't finish it all. When I saw the drink cooler with just water and a few juices, I figured I'd have to go with those, but they do have fountain drinks. And they actually have a pretty good variety, cola, diet cola, cream soda, blueberry, cherry I think, and a few others. Anyway, several pleasant surprises, the food lived up to its reputation, I was in and out fast, and for not a whole lot of money in this day and age. I will be back.

So Mark and I tried a new to us restaurant this afternoon…read more.. It's primarily a Thai / Hibachi carry out, with 5 tables. You order and pay at the kiosk and wait for them to bring it out to you. Our food took about 8 to 10 minutes. It looks clean inside, is brightly lit and the staff are very friendly and polite. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai which was quite delicious, one of the better versions in town. I counted 8 large shrimp covered by both thin and medium wide noodles which was odd and made it a little heavier but it worked for me on a certain level. The flavors were spot on Thai with that delicious mix of sweet, sour and salty. My only suggestion would be to get a little more scrambled egg and bean sprouts to lighten the heaviness of the rice noodles. My main sticking point is that they apparently don't offer lunch portions. The portions are dinner sized @ $17.99 but it's just far too much food for me and I'm not a fan of leftovers. Add a mini Pepsi @ $2.50 and tax and I had a nearly $21 lunch at a strip mall carryout? Ouch! There's a lot of positives that work well for others but the lack of a lunch portion will probably keep me away so... 4 Stars

Easy to find, plenty of parking. I'd driven past before and been intrigued. It's small, and cute, inside and out. Friendly staff. Nice selection of drinks, interesting menu. The food was good. Not great, but good. I got pad see yew, somewhat rare even on Thai menus, and one of my favorites. Big portion, decent flavor. But not as good as other local versions of pad see yew. I chose spice level 3, and it was appropriate- spicy but not crazy. Order at the counter or on the kiosk. Basically Thai classics and hibachi, as you might expect from the name. Prices, though... Yikes. Sticker shock is the norm lately, but these were higher even than I would expect. And the base price does not include protein. Well, it seems to include chicken, and any other option is extra. Not uncommon, but the base prices elsewhere are usually lower. Portions are pretty big, though. I had enough for two meals. So figure that in. Drinks were also expensive- $3 for a 16-oz pop bottle (and only slightly cool, not cold.) $2.50 for a "mini." Ridiculous. I had intended to get crab Rangoon, but was scared off by the entree's price. I was thinking "next time," but it was so expensive and the food just wasn't amazing, so I probably won't be back. It's a haul for me. If it is handy for you, check it out.

Quick and attentive service. We started with crispy dumplings (6), crispy egg rolls (2), and a scallion pancake. Bing, their crepe, wasn't available our night. My dining companions loved the pancake - for me perhaps a bit too much drizzled sauce. It was helpfully quartered when brought to the table so sharing was easy. The dumplings were indeed crispy and probably my favorite with a standard dark dipping sauce. The egg rolls were standard and perhaps a bit undersized and over fried, but a good creamy dipping sauce was a pivot away from the sweet chili sauce that usually accompanies such apps. Ramen is clearly the focus of the menu and three of us had ramen with chicken and one with pork. They spoke favorably of the broth and the combos of mushrooms, boiled egg, greens. I had the rice vermicelli with chicken that they called a salad. I was expecting the classic Vietnamese staple but this one had some adaptations, perhaps to a fusion or one might say less ethnic nod. Small things but the ample portion served in a small bowl made it hard to mix the rice noodles, lettuce, carrot, cucumber and chicken that is a common approach to the dish after drowning all the ingredients in both sweet sauce (nuoc cham), siracha and/or hoisin sauce. It only came with the nuoc cham. They brought Siracha when I asked for it, but I'm a fan of having these condiments on the table standard. Again, had the sense that the business lunch crowd that is probably the primary audience isn't likely to be as focused on the more authentic ingredients. The chicken was also not grilled and sliced but had a pleasant preparation. Just know it won't be the charred flavor that is so common. Finally, not to obsess on this one dish, but cutting the lettuce leaves more would enable easier chop sticks combos of the ingredients in single bites. Overall it worked for us. I am definitely the most focused on (my companions would say obsessed) on connection to what these dishes should be. If adaptations work well for you, Tiger+Lily likely will as well.

Pricing wasn't horrible, I actually thought it was well priced for what was ordered. The ramen I found to be slightly bitter, the beef bowl was delicious. Midway through my meal, they came around to light a candle at the table, which added such an intimate touch, and gave cozy date night energy in the best way. In fact, I believe I was sitting next to a couple having their first date. 2. Plating (4.5/5) The presentation did not disappoint. Everything came out looking polished and thoughtfully arranged. The edamame stood out because they generous with the flaky salt, which I personally loved. Sometimes places hold back, but this was well seasoned. 3. Customer Service (2.5/5) This is where things started to fall apart a bit. I stood at the front for about 12 minutes before being acknowledged, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I had to make eye contact with someone in the kitchen just to be seated. Service at the table wasn't much better. It took about 15 minutes just to get my drink order taken (which I had to flag the waitress down to order), and by that time I was ready to order my whole meal. I ordered an appetizer along with a couple of sushi rolls and some sake. I'm not sure if the waitress wasn't thinking about it, but she brought my rolls out before she even brought out my appetizer or my drink. The inconsistency was noticeable and took away from the experience. 4. Overall Taste (4.5/5) The food absolutely carried! I ordered a sweet potato roll and the Hoonie Roll, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Both were fresh, flavorful, and really well-balanced. Paired with the edamame and sake, everything came together nicely. 5. Overall Experience (3.9/5 ) Taking everything into account, the experience lands just under a 4. The food and atmosphere were strong, but the service created a noticeable disconnect. It's definitely one of those places where you'd go back for the food, but you'd hope the service catches up next time.
