Pho - Soup Bowl; Pork Banh-Mi

If you haven't been to 6-1 Pho, they are the only place in Columbus offer build your own "Pho bowl" experience. Starting this week, they will be launching their newest creation, Phoritto. If you have to guess, you may get it by its name. It a burrito like concept, where all the essential Pho ingredients get wrapped inside a large flour tortilla. Currently, their protein option are beef brisket, chicken and grilled tofu. Along with the protein, it packed with rice noodles, bean sprouts, cilantro, onions, Thai basil and jalapeño. As for condiment, hoisin sauce and sriracha are nicely spread out. Peanut sauce and Spicy Mayo is among the other option as well. The flour tortilla is warm and fluffy, and surprisingly compliment very with all the Pho ingredients. It is having a bowl of Pho in one bite. You may ask, where is the soul of Pho? "The Broth". Don't you worry. The Pho broth is serve on the side and ready for you to dip the Phoritto right in.

Stopped here on a whim, looking for some summer rolls or something comparable that is fresh and light! Was driving around downtown, running errands, and saw this place on the map! Swung in and saw they had spring/summer rolls right atop their menu!!! Parking was a bit annoying bc it was around back and ... not being from the city I'm just not used to having to make an extra li mg trip to find parking. Although... there was plenty of it so I was happy about that. The menu was mostly pho, but there was the spring rolls I was looking for! Called "summer rolls" here. Either way, they were good! With both pork and shrimp, with a side of peanut sauce, wrapped up ready to go was so perfect! I don't know why 3 of them cost $9, but whatevs. Seemed like a lot but also I was downtown and it was shrimp AND pork. I really could have done with just shrimp but also... whatev. Overall, good food!!!

Walking in the place is very clean and simplistic/modern looking which is nice. You walk up to the counter to order and the staff was friendly. Now this was my first time having Pho before and I'll just say it's okay. I have nowhere else to compare it to. I would definitely come back and order something different to try and find something I really like! I would still recommend them to anyone!

My friend ordered me some 6-1-Pho while I was home sick (so thoughtful!), and it just hit the spot. The first thing I want when I'm sick is a big bowl of spicy noodle soup and this stuff was magical. Their to-go and delivery routine is super efficient and allows for a good quality product. The broth and noodles/meat are in separate containers, and accompanied by a little container of toppings. You can order extra noodles and extra broth for extra soup slurping later. The chicken broth has a great deep flavor and personally, I like a good squirt of Sriracha in there for kick and healing properties! The chicken is nicely shredded so you can stir it in really well. To reheat it later, I heated water in the kettle and poured it over the noodles so they didn't disintegrate in the microwave and it really enhanced the leftovers! The little green bowl in the picture is mine at home, while consuming this on my lap and being less miserable for a while. If you aren't feeling well, or even if you are, this is a great hot soup option!

Pho - Soup Bowl and Vegetarian Egg Rolls

This was such a delightful surprise! A friend recommended Vientamise pho for lunch and I went on a search and found this place. Doing a working lunch, I easily ordered through Uber Eats and in about 35 mins it was at my door. Loved that some assembly was required for that extra fresh flavor. I ordered the Pho - Soup Bowl ($15.50) and selected the rice noodles w/chicken and chicken/beef broth. I then topped w/a side of bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, jalapenos, and a slice of lime. I also added an order of 3 Vegetarian Egg Rolls ($8.50). Those were made with a medley of tofu, vermicelli noodles, Napa cabbage, carrots, cilantro, cucumber, green onion, and basil and served with a little side cup of sweet sesame dipping sauce. They noted the veggie egg rolls were not vegan on the menu. As a highlight, I really liked the Jalapeños and cilantro in the Pho - Soup bowl. The flavor combinations were great and I wondered how have I never had this meal before? So simple, yet delicious. Will definitely try 6-1-Pho again. Now what to order next?

6-1-Pho is a authentic Vietnamese street food in a modern environment they say. I didn't dine in but rather ordered DoorDash. Order Pho Beef Soup bowl - first off, the beef broth was spot on! Delicious! Unfortunately the toppings were so skimpy, I felt something was missing. Compared to other Pho restaurants, I felt they could have provided a larger portion of toppings like bean sprouts and beef. Putting that aside, I found the dish good. Pork Bahn Mi - I had never had one of these sandwiches so I wasn't sure what to expect. Basically it was a Vietnamese Sub sandwich. I was really disappointed with this because the bun arrived really soggy. Gross! I tried eating some of the filling and could tell it might be a good sub but overall this wasn't good. I would not order it again. Egg rolls - the order comes with a total of 4 egg rolls. They were crispy and tasted great! Total came to $36. I'm still undecided if I would order take out from this place again. There are places I like better. However, I may give them another try if I get the opportunity to dine in the restaurant.

Best broth in the city. Vegetable additions are really fresh. I like proteins from other places but can't beat the broth here.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

This place is located on the 1280 W 5th Street and Northwest Blvd. There is parking in the front, and the restaurant is small and cozy. The seating is for parties of 4 to 5 but arrangements can be made so talk to a server. The menu offered everything from drinks, small place to ramen and I wanted to try more. We got the salt and pepper shrimp, the Kyushu Karaage (Japanese fried chicken), Hot tea and Takoyaki for a group of 5. Everything was piping hot and delicious and lightly seasoned to bring out the flavors of the overall dish. The servers were sweet and extremely helpful for explaining what things were and me, being a ramen nerd, could sit back and relax. I got the Kyushu Black Garlic Tonkotsu. It was so GOOD!! What makes this dish even more special is after a friend told me about the Chinese folktale that explains the origins of the Yunnan crossing noodle soup. It was supposedly created by a wife of a scholar who began to prepare the soup and ingredients separately and crossed a bridge every day to bring it to her husband (who was so engrossed in his studies that his food would get cold) so he could eat his noodles fresh and hot.
