Ok I would like to start by saying I have never given a 1 star review, it's just not me. I just lived close by and have never tried this place before and wanted to see what it was about. But I walked in at 12:30 a typical lunch rush time to not one person in there which should have been my first sign. When ordering I noticed their soda fountain was out of order so I had to buy a bottle of water which I wasn't thrilled about. Then the food came out and the fried rice was so bland and kind of crunchy and not I a good way. The crab rangoons were also very flavorless and barely filled. The people in the kitchen and behind the register kept rubbing their noses with their bare hands too which really gave me the ick. And while I was eating I noticed ants on the floor and when I saw them I proceeded to stop eating and just threw my food away and left. I will not be returning. read more

I've been to this before. Well, no, I haven't, I guess I've been to the other location, but they're a lot the same. And it seems like there was a different Chinese place at this spot maybe? Whatever, this is pretty much like the other HC Way location. Pretty straightforward stripmall Chinese American food. You can build your own stirfry. Pretty limited menu otherwise. I got the Uncle You's chicken, which is essentially General Tso's with a slightly different flavor. It's supposed to be spicy, but I barely detected anything. Good portion, tender chunks of chicken, crispy and in a tangy sauce. Served with fried rice (you get your choice.) Very nicely plated, for a strip mall place. I also got potstickers, again a decent portion, and good, with a slightly zippy sauce. Then I got pad Thai to take for work later. It was again a good portion, of decent food, good not great. The won-ton soup was doughy, like the wontons were not cooked properly and the broth was oily and gross. Health safety issue - Absolutely do not eat here. I ordered the orange chicken today; took a bite and bit into something strong. It was the sharp metal foreign object in the picture. It cut the roof of my mouth resulting in bleeding. I'm completely disgusted by this experience. I called the store and spoke with the manager who said because I ordered through DoorDash they can't refund me. At this point the refund isn't the issue. The issues are a) that this could even happen to someone and b) no apology was given. I'm thankful I didn't swallow or choke on the object but I am completely disturbed by the whole incident. HC Way? It's the brand new Asian bistro that just opened a couple weeks ago on Bethel Rd. It's made to order, better than average food court style Asian food. The food is alright, it's plenty filling and not too expensive for what you get. The place is brand new with a nice contemporary look. The employees are polite, friendly and very helpful. They have standard Chinese American dishes but they also give you the choice of building your own entree which is what I did. You order at the counter, you get a pager and then you pick up your food when they buzz you. That's called "The HC Way" and it goes like this: 1. Pick your protein 2. Pick the vegetables you want 3. Pick your sauce ie Teriyaki,, Kung Pao, Hunan, Curry, Mongolian, etc. 4. Choose your cooking style - steamed or stir-fry 5. Choose your starch - steamed, fried or brown rice or lo mein noodles I decided to try the Stir Fry Veggies with Shirmp and Hunan Sauce. It was decent and filling. The sauce was typical / forgettable but it wasn't bad. The portions were fairly large for the price as there was a surprising amount of food for the money. They didn't skimp on the protein and they did offer brown rice which was a nice surprise. The Hot And Sour Soup though... Erm... Have you ever had really bad Chinese buffet soup where it was really gelatinous, clumpy and kinda slimey? This is that soup. The portion was much larger than what any other Asian restaurant serves but it was really bad and I wouldn't bother getting it again. All in all, it's a 3 star restaurant and I would definitely go back again sometime to try some other combinations. I havent had Chinese food in so long! I was craving it today and decided to stop by here for my fix. Just moved to Columbus and this was my first visit here . The staff was great. Place very clean inside and out. The problem for me...the food! The fried rice had NO FLAVOR. Zero, none, zilch. The egg rolls were tasty but the size of spring rolls. I hope this isn't representing the best this area has to offer. I'd be hurt as Chinese food is one of my favorite cuisines. read more

I feel terrible giving a bad review. Service was great! The guys are really friendly and helpful. I really like the concept of HC Way. You can choose your meat, veggies, sauce, and cooking style. We were really excited to try it, but the taste of the food was mostly bad. First off, the Egg Drop Soup was absolutely the worst I have ever had. It was a gelatinous, watery mass with some egg in it. Horrible flavor. Horrible consistency. DH got beef and an assortment of vegetables. He said his zucchini was very good, but the beef was tough and full of gristle. My shrimp and veggies were okay. The shrimp were very small although they gave me a lot. The veggies were cooked just right. The white sauce was very bland. I normally don't add soy sauce to my Chinese food, but I had to add some to this dish. My daughter didn't like her dish either. She said the flavoring of the sauce was not as good as when we get it from our other places. Also, the "fried rice" is just yellow rice with a few peas, carrots, and onions thrown in. It was also a bit hard. We ended up paying quite a bit more for sub par food than we usually do for similar items at other places. read more

I'll just say... I really didn't like eating inside this place. I live right next door and was used to getting pretty standard American style Chinese food that just wasn't spicy enough. I originally left a 4 star review. But me and my husband went to eat inside here tonight because we wanted 0 clean up at home. All of the tables were dirty. The soy sauce was stuck to the table and left a black ring when picked up. It was also clogged on one side of the cap. Dust on a lot of stuff. Dirty windows. Sauce from past diners on the wall. I just imagine what the kitchen has to be like... I really want to like this place but dining rooms that have been dirty for more than a day is very... off putting. read more

Neither my husband nor myself felt up to cooking tonight, so we thought we'd make use of one of the coupons we received in the mail for this new HC Way location. I've never been to the other locations, but their reviews looked decent enough for me to want to check it out. It wasn't particularly busy when we arrived, which may have been because it's a new establishment or because today is a holiday. Either way, I appreciated the calm atmosphere. The interior is pretty sleek and contemporary & the overall layout of the restaurant seems to be pretty functional. I got the general tso's, and my husband got the orange chicken. We also got potstickers and crab rangoons. Overall, I'd say we enjoyed the food. Though we both felt like the potstickers had way too much filling, and my husband wasn't a fan of their flavor in general. Also, if you're into vegetables, the broccoli that was thrown into our orders seemed like a complete afterthought. We both found a couple of poorly cooked stalks of broccoli buried under our chicken. Being the dedicated carnivores that we are, neither of us was particularly bothered, but other people might find it off-putting. I ordered the cashew chicken and my wife ordered the king pao chicken. The portions were huge (we ordered the large) and the vegetables were very fresh but this is we're the compliments end. The vegetables were cut in such large pieces they were difficult to eat most weren't cooked at all; they were basically raw. The sauces had zero flavor and both dishes were extremely bland. We added soy sauce and the sauce that came with our egg rolls in an attempt to add or find some type of flavor in that food. The hot and sour soup had no flavor just heat. PERFECTION. If I could give this place more than five stars I would. I order food for pickup at least once a week and have never once had a negative experience. Food is affordable and served in large portions, it is always ready within 5-10 minutes, and has always satisfied me. The staff there is incredible. It is hard to find a restaurant staff that truly cares about their customers the way that HC Way does. Example: Today I placed my usual order of chicken fried rice but then realized I had left my wallet at the office. When I called back to cancel the order the manager (Tony I believe) recognized my name and order and allowed me to pick up my food anyways and pay at a later date. We quit ordering it because it was hotter than we could tolerate. Now Singapore Mei Fun noodles & Phad Thai have gone from spicy to searing. Fast and hot, I like my delivery like I like my delivery :) Not a local any longer, but tried it out base on Yelp reviews. My husband got the general tso's which I feel is difficult to mess up. I wish it could've been a little spicier but then again, I should've requested in the notes. The highlight of my dish was the steamed dumplings and the sauce; very nicely done! Crab Rangoon was very nice as well, standard, but nice. We also ordered a chicken dish which wasn't super memorable as now I forget which one I ordered.
