I wanted pho for a late dinner around 8pm last week, but my go-to (Buckeye Pho) was already closed. Pho Chef at Kenny Center is open later, so I decided to give them a visit. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered their special combination pho, and it came very quickly. Very nice when you're super hungry! The pho itself was pretty disappointing however. The broth was good. The noodles were super overcooked though. Honestly the softest noodles I've ever had in my life. They were very generous with the meat portion, but most of the meat were their fatty brisket. It seemed to be boiled brisket with the fat cap still on. The meat was edible but chewy. Inside is clean, and new. Plenty of four person tables. Service was amazing. I was confused coming to this location. It says phó chef. To me pho is Vietnamese not Chinese. The outside door and inside walls had Chinese on them. I thought with all the five star reviews, I will give it a go. The Eggrolls were the star of the show. Delicious. The phó not for me. I like to taste the broth before I add anything. Boy was that salty! The meat and noodles were perfect. But with that salty of a broth, it's rough. I got a sliced lemongrass pork rice plate to go. The sliced pork was extremely salty as well, no lemongrass at all in that. Not a fan of this place. This location is a Chinese restaurant that has noodle soup. I wouldn't call that phó. Overall, the sampler was great, with the fresh roll being my least favorite of the three items, and it was still very good. The pork vermicelli entree was absolute perfection - pork was well marinated and perfectly GRILLLED over an open flame, not on a flat-top like most places in town. The pork was also thinly sliced and very lean. I do wish they would have provided more fresh herbs - cilantro, mint, etc. Perhaps that would have been an option if I had dined in, which I plan to do next time. I don't think the food was that great and I know the cost of food has gone up just like everything else however, when you slice the meat on a slicer, that's so thin and you have reduced so much of the protein.
