This was our first time visiting, we loved that they had a curated cocktail and beer selection which most ramen bars do not have. I got the oolong mule which was so refreshing and light. A must order item is definitely the KFC chicken to share, the sauce is sweet and spicy and so perfect with the crunchy coating on the wings. Our server gave great recommendations and I went with the Shoyu Paitan Ramen. The soy marinated egg and menma were really good and my favorite toppings. It was busy inside but we got a table quickly!
My sister and I stopped in for a quick snack before a short road trip and got two appetizers: the barbecue chashu pork buns and the salt and pepper chicken wings. Both were fantastic! The pork belly was so tender and paired perfectly with the soft bun and crisp pickle. I find that most places that serve "salt and pepper" flavored items usually don't have that authentic Chinese spice flavor, but these wings did! Our food came out quickly. I can't speak for the ramen, but I would order these two dishes again!
The atmosphere has been and still is very warm and cozy! I love all the dark wood and cool light fixtures! I sat at the bar and was given their refreshing cucumber water! I ordered the Shoyu Paitan Ramen (with no mushrooms) and pork belly, the belly was melt in your mouth, salty and oh so delicate! The broth, full of flavor hitting deep savory notes that roll over your toung, the noodles themselves, cooked to perfection! I love this place! I can't wait to return!
Friendly & efficient service, good food, and we got our food within 5 minutes! I ordered The Dom Dom which was delicious. It was ramen noodles in a Sesame Soy Tare topped with spicy sesame garlic oil with marinated soft boiled egg, and braised pork tenderloin. I was expecting a soft yolk egg but it was what I would call hard boiled but I didn't care - I was just surprised. Anyway, I'd order it again.

Treated ourselves to two apps: karaage (fried chicken bites) and salt & pepper calamari. Mr R got Spicy Mala Ramen and I got Shio Parian Ramen. Firstly, apps: still love the karaage. Almost wish there was a hot chicken option. Calamari was underwhelming. Will pass on this next time. Spicy mala ramen: full of flavor. Decent amount of spice (a good choice for spice lovers!) Pork tenderloin was good. Felt like an upscale bowl of ramen - good toppings and well-balanced. Shio Paitan ramen: Creamy, luscious broth. Loved the veg. Pork belly was nice, but not the best I've ever had. Good sized, filling bowl of ramen. Perfect for a cold night! Prices on the ramen were on par for Cbus ($15.50). I think that ramen is slightly overpriced in general, but it's a good, quality option if you're in the mood. Wish they had little bites for sweets/dessert. We would have lingered a bit longer for it!
Great ambiance when you walk in, the lighting is slightly darker than outside so even an early dinner/late lunch feels slightly elevated and fun. We were seated super fast and our server was friendly. She got our food out quicker than I expected! We ordered the firecracker shrimp to start and both got shoyu paitan ramen, both of which were absolutely delicious. I totally wasn't expecting this level of good food, but I'm glad we gave it a shot! They also have a nice side room with a bar that looked very fun.
Good ramen! We dined in on a Friday night, they were busy but they seated us at the bar (or bar seating facing the kitchen line) and we didn't have to wait. Overall very good experience, we'll be back!
I visited Meshikou after a long time, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the experience reminded me why this place holds such a special place in my heart.
Amazing food and good ambiance. The service was good but could improve on faster service. Really loved the broth less ramen and the spicy mala ramen. The flavor was top notch and the noodle was perfect. The chashu rice bowl was filled with of meat enough to make you full. Recommend 9.5/10

As a self proclaimed ramen enthusiast, I can confidently say that meshikou has consistently been one of the best ramen places in Columbus! While they deviate from the norm and uses chicken instead of pork bones for their broth, they still manage to deliver the umaminess that you expect from a good broth. I got the meishikou black which has a delectable garlicky kick to it, adding to the umaminess! Meishikou always deliver - The noodles are chewy and the eggs are always slightly runny. The only complaint is that they can be a little slow at times but good food is always worth a wait ;)

Loved the food and service at Meshikou. Tried some appetizers, soju, and both curry dishes (broth and brothless). The flavor was spot on, and the dish portions were large and filling. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen staff do their thing. Will be returning to try some other menu items in the future. read more

Why have I never eaten here before? I only have myself to blame. The place itself is cozy and welcoming. It was a dark rainy night--the perfect reason to sit at the Ramen bar to enjoy our meals. We had a hankering for Ramen and Meshikou did not disappoint. We started off with the Meshikou Takoyaki and it was out of this world delicious. The eel sauce and spicy Mayo were the perfect balance of salt and spice and the chewy bits of octopus were the perfect size. For our meals we had the Cheesy Ramen and the Meshikou Black. The cheesy ramen is basically like pasta Alfredo. My daughter (who ordered it) didn't really like it so I made the ultimate parent sacrifice and swapped plates with her...I gave her my Meshikou Black She gobbled it up (and let me have a few bites too) and it was amazing; the broth was perfectly rich and flavorful. The noodles and toppings were on-point. This is easily the best bowl of ramen I've had in ages. Although the cheesy ramen missed the mark with us, I'm not taking off a single star because the authentic ramen dishes are legit! read more
Meshikou is a great ramen focused restaurant in a strip mall among many other Asian restaurants and stores. While the seating is fairly limited, the staff is very friendly and efficient in turning tables and getting food out. Still, expect a bit of a wait during prime dinner hours even on a weekday. I had the Karaage as an appetizer and like the description, it was truly flash fried to perfection. It was delicious and crispy with incredibly juicy meat. I would highly recommend this. Onto the Ramen itself. I selected the Spicy Miso Paitan and was excited when it hit the table. Beautifully presented and with lots of additions, the bowl was exactly what I was hoping to get. While still a good bowl of ramen, it wasn't exactly the top of the ramen food chain in my opinion as the broth was good, but not great and the wavy noodles (my preference) were good, but didn't have some of the chew I have gotten in other ramen houses. Still, as far as ramen shops go, this is a solid choice and with very reasonable prices, I'll likely return to try something else. read more

Decided to eat here with a group of friends and was not disappointed! It's a great space for outings and right next door they have an ice cream shop with just two flavors! - sesame and ube! But I'll get to that in just a second. Although there were 8 of us, we got quickly seated. Their menu is simple and easy to choose from and even includes vegetarian friendly options! They were very upfront and honest about their vegetarian option having a veggie broth base which my vegetarian friend really appreciated as he usually has to ask. I got the shoyu paitan ramen and I really enjoyed it. The broth was rich and I usually judge the broth more than the noodles itself. I like to think that the broth is the star of the dish. Of course, I can't neglect the noodles and the toppings but I really had no complaints for them. When we finished our meal, we walked right next door for their ice cream! They currently only serve 2 flavors which are sesame and ube. Most of us decided to get a mix of both flavors and you could choose to get it in a cone, cup, or a cone with a cup on the side (which I did not know!) After all the food we had, we were actually quite full but the ice cream was a perfect way to end it. My favorite was actually the sesame flavor! I'm glad I found a ramen spot in Ohio, I was only visiting for the weekend and was craving some rich broth and came across this spot. read more
It's a large menu but you can't go wrong with their chicken. Just ask the server for suggestions and you will be fine. the broth is good but not the best in town. Service is excellent. I will be back for the chicken. They will give you cucumber water to help cool your mouth after eating spicy. It was perfect. read more

I've tried most of the ramen spots around town and this is always my favorite. Each of the owners I've met are so wonderful, and polite to talk to. Recognize me when I haven't been in recently. Food is always top notch. The atmosphere is great, service is always relatively fast. Better get in early on weekends... They will not seat you without a full party, even if they're just parking... which is annoying but I do understand. Would love for them to integrate the Chikin menu in to the Meshiko menu, I miss the fried sandwich. read more
We were driving by Columbus on the way to Hocking Hills for the weekend, happened upon this cute little eatery in an Asian centric plaza. Fortunately, we arrived just sometime to beat the crowd and were seated immediately. We split three ramens, karaage, and chicken wing. The karaage was sooo good. Our fav ramen flavor was the spicy miso. Meshikou black - I was expecting a little more intensity to the flavor so was a little underwhelmed. The kids did enjoy the Paitan. read more

Cute little ramen shop off of bethel rd where many of the other Asian restaurants like K-Pot are located. Service here is very attentive as we went on a not so busy Saturday afternoon. Servers were kind and super helpful with recommendation the most popular items. The ramen here is decently good. I've had better authentic ramen in other states, but this is good enough for Ohio. The broth here is flavorful and tasty. The fried chicken was great and actually spicy which we love. read more

The most delicious ramen!! Many options and they will customize for you. The broth...yum! This restaurant is not big so you may have to sit at the counter. All great! We just waited for an hour to get our seats. But all worth it. I like the level of spicy of my fireball. The chicken karaage was great too but the serving was so small. Like 4 pcs per serving. I like the shirley temple drinks as well! The takoyaki was great too, they got the taste I wanted. Ambiance was okay. Felt like in were Japan! read more
A cute ramen spot on Bethel road! The service was great. The wavy noodles are chewy and the broth is flavorful. Be aware the Sichuan oil is spicy! If you love the heat, then you will love it even more! I wish they had more vegetarian options, especially a creamy ramen. read more

Cheese Ramen 7/10 - for cheese fans, this is it. It looks and tastes like a creamy Noodle Carbonara. There were enough shrimps and the egg was perfect. I was hoping for a soupy broth when I go to Ramen shops but this dish did not disappoint Spicy Mala Ramen 8/10 - They are not kidding about spicy, you will really feel the heat. The flavor is very authentic and tastes like Schezuan dishes. Tucked away in a plaza off Bethel Road with a plethora of international food options, this place makes speedy yet delicious ramen with great customer service. My MESHIKOU BLACK ramen bowl was delicious with earthy undertones from the garlic black aroma oil. Egg cooked perfectly, fresh scallions, succulent pork tenderloin, and mushrooms. The chicken karaage was plentiful, light, airy, and crisp. The crab tacos was a refreshing surprise because the crab, although imitation, was like a crab salad in a freshly made warm taco with Asian toppings and sauces. The Bubbly rose drink was good as well. It's kinda small inside but they work fast and get customers in and out all while being courteous and making excellent dishes. read more

My husband loves ramen bowls, so we had to try this highly rated place. It is very small inside. It was packed on a Thursday night. We were told our wait would be 30 minutes, but only had to wait 10 thankfully. There is a hightop, bar-like seating area and some table seating next to it. We were seated at the hightop as we were a group of 2. I prefer the table seating, but understood the need for this. There is a clear plastic separating the hightop area from the cooks and you can actually see them making the dishes. I thought this was an interesting concept. We were able to download the menu through a QR code; however, it was offered to us as well by the server. We ordered the KFC chicken wings. These were great, loved the crispiness they achieved on the wings and enjoyed the flavor. I got the spicy mala ramen and substituted with karaage chicken. The ramen was spicy, but not overly for me. I think I could have used a little more depth of flavor in the broth. The karaage chicken was super crispy and the sauce was flavorful; however, like some other Yelpers mentioned, I think the chicken could be cooked through a little longer for my liking. My husband got the fireball miso ramen with karaage chicken. His broth did not pack the spice level it claimed. He had to ask for more chili oil and another garlic spice ball to get the flavor and spice. We would appreciate some more chicken substitutions other than karaage for the ramens. We do not eat pork and found it limited. I love steamed buns and was disappointed that the option for that was only pork too. If it can be substituted for chicken, I think the menu should clearly state where that can happen for people like me. I think I would go for a rice bowl instead next time and would definitely order wings again. read more

Food is delicious, the service some times take time due to crowd days, the overall ambiences is ok not perfect for my taste. I will recommend to go when you can hold up to 35 minutes to be seated and order then wait another 20 min to be served, depends of course of the amount of people seated at the table and the total amount of orders. Is not real Japanese food is being served by nice Chinese people and I believe is US flavors more than Japanese. But food is good Ambiance is some times crowdy. read more

I love ramen and this is probably my favorite spot in Columbus. We eat here fairly often and I almost always get the same thing: the shoyu paitan ramen. (Auto correct made that sentence a real challenge.) my husband has gotten several of the other broths and of course we've tried the pork sammy and the bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms as well, which my hubby has asked me to make at home since several times. The broth is always consistent and fabulous and they have the best pork belly I've had in the city. The inside is small so seating can be a challenge on a busy night but luckily the owner caved in to allowing to go over covid and hasn't gone back so far. Though I do like the dark and low key vibe--it feels like they'd do well with more alcohol choices. Anyway, definitely give them a go and you can't hurt getting some chicken next door either! read more
