They served noodles instead of bean sprouts and honestly I liked having the noodles in replacement. Wasn't a huge fan of the soup/salad but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. Amazing!! don't pass this one up. We have been trying to find something that compares to our favorite Japanese steakhouse in Dublin and this surpassed it. The egg yoke is better. HELP we need a good Japanese Steakhouse back in Columbus. When we lost Japanese Steakhouse, we lost the best. Nobody has come close. We've visited Daruma the most because of the salad dressing and the ginger sauce. Unfortunately today was a total disappointment. The ginger sauce had changed, not only did it not taste the same, but it was so salty, it was inedible. Even though we've got our fillets medium rare, they were both overcooked. They no longer do bean sprouts.Instead, they do noodles which are subpar. The only truly good thing about the dinner was my mai thai, which was fantastic. I will NEVER return to this place. They are racists that serve mid food. The heat was on and with the tables, it was easily close to 100 degrees. She served people that came after us with their soup, salad and drinks far after we arrived. Then the Chef comes to the table to go over our orders and he looks as us, pauses and then looks to the white people at the end of the other side and started with them, he then went around the table tossing rice to everyone at the table, gets to my daughter and stops to ask her if she would like to try. Quick and friendly staff. Place is large, floor could've used a mop but overall a clean joint. Pepsi products always a hit, and bar drinks were well done with average size and price. My family has celebrated our birthdays at this restaurant every year for the past 15 years. We have always enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the experience, and it has long been our go-to place for special occasions. This past Sunday, however, our experience was very disappointing. We had a reservation for six people at 6:30 p.m. and arrived five minutes early. Although our table was not ready, we were happy to wait. Approximately 20 minutes after our reservation time, we were seated at a hibachi table that had been extended, placing one member of our party behind the chef and physically connecting our table to the group behind us. Despite the table extender, our party was seated shoulder-to-shoulder and combined with another group of four, resulting in ten people at a table that typically accommodates eight (two on each end and four in front). Having a guest seated behind the chef with a limited view, while the rest of the table was uncomfortably crowded, was not the experience we have come to expect, especially for a birthday celebration at a restaurant we have trusted for many years. Given that our family typically spends over $300 on this meal, we politely asked the hostess if there was any possibility of rearranging the seating so we could have adequate space to eat comfortably and enjoy our drinks. We were told that no adjustments could be made. As a result, we made the decision to leave. It was extremely disappointing to make a reservation in advance, drive 30 minutes across town, and then be seated in such an uncomfortable and unsuitable arrangement. If the restaurant was overbooked that evening, it would have been preferable to decline the reservation rather than provide an experience that fell so far below expectations and ultimately resulted in a failed birthday celebration. read more

The chef was great and he interacted with the kids as well as the adults. One of my least favorite thing is bringing boxes and the check while I'm still eating. We felt rushed the entire time. Daruma is now my favorite Japanese steakhouse in Columbus! (It used to be Genji, but they're no longer in business.) Well kept building with good ambiance. The quality of the food here is top notch (as far as Japanese steakhouses go), they are generous with their portion sizes and sauces, the chefs are entertaining, and the servers are great. Daruma really has everything you would want from this type of restaurant. Only point of caution with my review is that I don't order sushi at hibachi restaurants like these, so I can't tell you whether they're any good! read more

The yum yum + ginger sauce really carried the meal, without it hibachi would have been really dry and lacking flavor. Don't be scared off by the exterior of the building. It looks in disrepair and dated and we had initially questioned our choice while walking in. Salad- the lettuce was the light yellow/white parts of the head with 1 slice of tomato that was pale & hard & very little dressing. Very bad presentation. Soup- Basically salty water with very little chives in it, 1 tiny slice of mushroom and some white things floating around. Hibachi Steak: meat was good but did not realize there was shrimp in it. I did a reservation for 19 people here (13 adults and 6 kids). They set us up really nicely at one large table that had two cooktops. The servers are very attentive and we didn't have to reach out for refills on drinks. The cooks made it a fun experience for both adults and children alike. The food portion for the hibachi was huge and we had to take a large portion home. They were great at providing boxes, plastic bags, and extra yum yum sauce to go for the leftovers. The hibachi dinners comes with soup and house salads. The soup was good and I enjoyed the peanut flavor dressing they had on the salad. I got the steak and chicken hibachi. It was well cooked. I did not think the flavor was amazing, I think it would have been more flavorful if the yum yum sauce was added to the protein while it was being cooked. I have been to this place couple of times, and the food is just great. The staff is friendly as well. We had a large crowed last time we went, about 18 of us. They sat us on a large table accommodating everyone. Basically two tables connected to each other. Therefore, we had two chefs cooking the food. Both of the chefs made it fun for both adults and kids. All of us had either chicken, steak or shrimp hibachi. The portion size of each plate was pretty big size. Definitely will have food leftover to take home. They give enough yum yum sauce, but if enough is not enough for you, they will give you extra at the restaurant and extra to take home. But ambience is terrible, it's always so incredibly noisy whether you're in the hibachi room, dining room or bar area. You can't even hear yourself think. We had trouble communicating at our table and with our waitress. I have a cell app that reads decibel noise level and it consistently registered noise of 80 with peaks in the high 90's. That is intense and not enjoyable. For that reason we likely will not return to Dhruma. read more
