Let's call it 4.5 stars...somewhere between 'good' and 'great'. The food was tasty for sure. We kept it fairly straight forward the night I was there. To start we had the Queso & Guacamole app. Very tasty- not complicated and tasted as good as it looked. For the main dishes we had the Hudson 29 Cheeseburger and the Roasted Chicken salad. The burgers were really good. Tasted a bit like an elevated Shake Shack burger- total compliment. The parts aren't extraordinary but combined the fresh ground beef, cheddar and pickles all played nice to make for an excellent burger. I didn't order the salad, but tried it. It was excellent. Same idea here the salad was much greater than the sum of the parts. I had a seasonal/Fall craft beer. It was pretty good. Not great. Felt the beer selection could have been stronger. Wow another amazing Cameron Mitchell experience; have yet to have anything but a good one. Came in for a work dinner and we were seated in a private room which was nice as it made for an intimate space. Our server was very friendly and gave good suggestions on the menu. Had the Shanghai Sea Bass which was exquisite. The garlic ginger sauce that it marinated it was a perfect flavor complement. The fist itself melted on my fork as it was as tasty as it looks. Also had the smoked trout dip as an appetizer which was also delicious. Of note, convenient parking is in the garage just behind the restaurant. This restaurant felt closer to a chain than a fine dining experience. The steak was completely unimpressive -- and really, how do you mess up a steak? The seabass was even worse: overcooked, and when I uploaded a photo, Google's AI actually thought it was pork. The real problem, though, wasn't the texture, but the sauce. It was both too sweet and too salty, so overpowering that once it touched the rice, the whole dish was ruined. The appetizers weren't much better. The sushi didn't taste fresh, and the tuna tartare was drowned in sauce. The wine list was disappointing, especially if you're looking for decent oak-barrel reds -- hardly any good options to choose from. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly, but the service was painfully slow. After looking around the room, it was clear our order hadn't been forgotten; everyone's food was taking forever. Expect at least an hour and a half for dinner, even with just two people -- a meal that easily could've been finished in under an hour. Another Great Visit to Hudson 29 on Lane Avenue. Prior experience drove us to select it for a family event and as always we had great food, friendly service, and overall perfect night. Have a major shoutout to our server "Seera". The place was packed, loud and very energetic, yet the calm and a little quiet Seera was super patient and friendly the entire night. We had a party of eight and she had everyone agreeing that she was the best !! Thank you. And it wasnt easy, we arrived in waves and in the middle of the dinner rush. Parking is great at this location, as there is a private garage in back and a retail center across the street with lots of spots. Definitely recommend reservations when possible but especially for 4 or more. Great bar space for drop bys. Everyone ordered drinks from their good wine selection to specialty drinks. Apps I would highly recommend the Cheese Stuffed Rolls (yes not the healthiest, but great), and the Hudson 29 Sushi Roll. We had something for everyone. This visit we didnt do salads but Entree options were diverse. Filet, Cheeseburger (huge and rave reviews), Gigantic Chicken sandwich, Salmon, Seabass and a HUGE plate of Ribs. Note that there's a parking garage right behind Hudson 29 that's attached to the restaurant. We started with some cocktails and the ahi tuna tartare. We went here before attending the IU vs. OSU basketball game and we had a great dinner on a busy night. My wife had the Arctic Char special of the night and she loved it. I had the house salad, cheeseburger and fries. The house salad was simple but very good with a bright vinaigrette and it was big, plenty to share. I am particular about my cheeseburgers and this one was "In-and-Out" burger style which isn't my preferred cheeseburger but this cheeseburger was absolutely excellent. I would go back just for that burger and it is only topped by the burger at Hyde Park (and the burgers I make at home). The fries were thin cut which isn't my favorite but these were very good. For service I give it a 4/5 because a two occasions we ran out of our drinks and one time she forgot to bring one until she walked up to the table. However it was NYE so it's pretty busy. For the Ambiance a 5/5. The inside is pretty dimmed but perfect lighting at the table. There are seats inside for waiting and a parking garage in the back that is free. There is also an entrance in the back that you can use to enter the restaurant instead of walking around to the front. Lastly, the food was a 3.5. The salad was nice. Had more of a peppery taste to it. The ribs were fall off the bone but were missing seasoning and extra BBQ sauce. Food was just okay. For this restaurant I expected more taste wise. We were gifted a CM gift card so we couldn't think of a better place to spend it than Hudson 29. Naturally, we ordered a bottle of wine. The wine list is very extensive for all those wine connoisseurs in the Columbus area. We went out of our comfort zone and order the full rack of ribs. We also ordered the burger and split the two. It was so good I was tempted to lick the plate clean. Service was very accommodating. We were sat right away at our reservation time, even with the place being completely full. It appeared to be a High School Valentine's Day dance with a lot of high school kids dressed for the nines. They were willing to split the meals in half to bring on two plates when we said we would be sharing. We told them that it wasn't necessary but we appreciated it. Great date night location! Hudson 29 is right off of Lane Ave in Upper Arlington -- if you've never been to the area you should check it out. It's very nice with several shops and restaurants. This restaurant is housed on the ground level of an apartment complex, and they have garage parking attached. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and had to wait 15-20 minutes past our reservation time before being seated. We were seated in the 'wine room' which is a little more intimate of an area with only 4 tables total. They also have a main dining area, bar area, and a private room that I'm assuming can accommodate larger parties. We picked Hudson 29 over some of the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants this night in particular, because we wanted a wide menu with several different types of food. The menu offers a few appetizers, flatbreads, sushi, salads, sandwiches, steak, seafood entrees, pasta, and even BBQ ribs. For an appetizer, we got the King Kong sushi roll. It had crab mix, avocado, and cucumber with togarashi seasoning, topped with spicy scallops and spicy mayo -- talk about yum!! We didn't try them, but the cheese stuffed butter rolls looked delicious, so if we come back we'll definitely give those a try. We also split a Caesar salad which ended up being the perfect portion for each of us. For entrees, I tried the wood grilled salmon and my SO got the rigatoni bolognese. I really enjoyed the flavor of the salmon, but wasn't thrilled with the side. It came with couscous, raisins, almonds, cucumbers, radish, and what appeared to be sliced kale all mixed together. There was so many different textures that it just had a bit too much going on. It would have been better if the couscous and vegetables were served in their own portions. We tried the Texas sheet cake for dessert. I was hesitant at first because I'm not a huge chocolate fanatic and I feared it would be too rich, but it was absolutely delicious. We had been meaning to try Hudson 29 for a while, and finally checked out this location for dinner. The location has plenty of garage parking behind it, as well as a strip mall parking lot across the street. The inside of the restaurant was nice but some of the fixtures felt a bit dated. True to the form of a CM restaurant, the operation here is efficient - we were seated on time and our server, Jared, was polite and helpful. We settled on the Cheese Rolls, the Spicy Tuna sushi rolls for appetizers, followed by the Wood Grilled Salmon, the Gerber Farms Chicken, and a kid's menu Chicken Sandwich. For dessert, we got the Texas Sheet Cake and the Carrot Cake. We also ordered a cocktail from the menu - Daisy. All the dishes were large portions, including the chicken sandwich from the kids' menu. In terms of taste, the food was just ok - neither bad nor good. None of the appetizers or main course dishes particularly stood out as memorable and they were generally lacking any flavors. At this price point, I would expect more in terms of taste from a CM restaurant. The best item we tried was the Texas Sheet Cake - if I find myself back here, that is probably the only thing I would order. Overall, Hudson 29 came across as a tired establishment that is too comfortable in its ways - everything was just ok, and for me, I expect more from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. read more

Went here for our weekly Friday date night 3/27/26. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get a seat at the bar within minutes! This place is really nice & the staff/bartender was exceptionally nice! We don't drink, but still felt welcomed sitting at the bar. The food was very good. I've been a loyal customer of Hudson 29 since it opened, dining there around 50 times over the years -- including hosting our family's annual pre-Christmas dinner in the private room (10-15 people, ~$2,000). It's always been a reliable spot when visiting family in Upper Arlington. (I live in FL) However, our recent visit on Saturday, August 2, 2025, was deeply disappointing. I was there with my 94-year-old mother and niece. Two martinis were ordered, and we were surprised to see a $6 upcharge on the bill. When I inquired, I was told that "all up martinis have an extra charge" -- something that is not listed on the menu and was not disclosed when ordering. Additionally, my mother requested a small house salad instead of fries, and the server responded with "of course." Again, no mention of an upcharge -- yet $2.50 was added to the bill. It's not about the money -- it's about the lack of transparency and the principle of how customers are treated. For a restaurant that positions itself as elevated and community-focused, this felt more like a bait-and-switch than hospitality. Sadly, we will not be returning -- and will certainly be taking our family's holiday gathering (and business) elsewhere. I'm especially disappointed given Cameron Mitchell's stated values in his book and advertising.
