We had moved away two years ago out of state and recently moved back to the area. We are so happy we are able to visit and enjoy Manatee Cafe again. Food is always fresh and delicious! We always get the scrambled tofu in a wrap. It's our comfort dish and highly recommend it. :) read more

Manatee Cafe - Scrambled Tofu in a Wrap with Hash Browns - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Saint Augustine, Florida

If you want breakfast vegan food that tastes delicious- this is the place to go! The place is quiet and service was fast. I got a veggie omelet and my hubby got the tofu scramble. Everything was well-seasoned and the hash browns, which was really potatoes, were crispy just as we requested. They had oat milk and almond milk for coffee! Score! The reason this place didn't get 5 stars, is because of the prices - our coffee was creeping into Starbucks territory at $3.50 and the portions were small in proportion to the price. It was good enough for us to come back when we visit St. Augustine again! read more

Great little restaurant with a focus on healthy meals. We both had burrito #1, very fresh and tasty.

Favorite brunch and lunch spot in st aug! Many vegan options but still great food that you want to eat! Veggie burgers are so tasty and hardy yet light but the best and my favorite are the burritos! Definitely try the #1 or #2 both awesome options. read more

Great food Great staff We tried the veggie Omelet and the burrito. They have so many topping in their omelets which add a great and unique taste. It's not located in old city so it's less crowded. Thanks to Yelp we found that place and we're pretty happy. The food is not very heavy and you'll stomach is gonna thank you after ;-) One last thing, it is freezing inside the restaurant. I am their customer over 20 years..... Their food always fresh always the best quality, delicious. I don't know how they do it but I can't get food like this anywhere else but at the Manatee Cafe. read more

I was so excited to try this place based on several recommendations from other vegans in a Facebook group. I can't say that I was overly impressed based on the cleanliness and service but the food was very good. It's got a very diner-like feel to it but when you see passed that, you'll like it. The tables and overall upkeep of the restaurant, including the kitchen and bathrooms needs improvement. As I went to the bathroom and peered into the kitchen, the first thing that stuck out to me was a pot that looked like the 1800's on a gas stove that also looked like it was historic; I guess it fits in for Saint Augustine. Despite this, I still really enjoyed the food, ordered dessert and left with a full, satisfied belly that didn't need to be refueled for hours. The tofu Chocolate pie was very good, not too sweet at all - I could just taste how healthy it was. My husband and I split the vegan Waffles and the vegan breakfast burrito. The burrito was definitely my favorite; it was filled with lots of veggies, tofu and other goodies. The hash browns that I ordered on the side were more like home fries but they were also very good - nice and crispy. I also ordered a glass of fresh carrot juice which took a while to come out but I could tell that the carrots were just juiced. The coffee on the other hand was not good at all, it tasted like it had been brewed in a big pot and had been sitting for quite some time. Overall, we had a great experience though and will definitely be back on our next trip; maybe for lunch next time. It's hard to find good vegan food for breakfast and this hit the spot! read more

Holy flavor explosion! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for years, I have no idea why I haven't come sooner. The people: beyond friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere: cozy, mellow, clean. The food: world class! So much flavor. I had the Cajun tofu pita and it was one of my favorite sandwiches. Plus whatever hot sauce they gave me with it is my new fav. Yes! You can eat clean and healthy and it actually taste delicious too! Highly recommend:) read more

Healthy and delicious food as always. We've been going to Manatee Cafe for a few years. We decided on takeout and ordered our favorite, Tofu Scramble in a wrap with hash browns. Good "snail of approval" breakfast foods! If you're looking for healthful, nutritient-dense meals, no place in St. Augustine does it better.

The Manatee Cafe has a beautiful ambiance and also a lot of Vegan choices. I am visiting here from Savannah Georgia and wanted to try something different rather than the same bean burger because I always get the bean burger from Denny's in Savannah Georgia. I ordered a pita with chips and the sweet potato pita was very good. When my sister was done with her food she was putting her fruit in with her vegetables and I told her that she needed a separate container so it wouldn't get the flavors mixed together for later so she did what I said and asked for a separate container for the fruit and the Owner brought her a super tiny container for like maybe mayonnaise or something and when my sister asked for something bigger the Owner smiled and was very rude and said whatever you would like in a very rude tone and my sister was confused and I told her not to worry about it. My sister has been battling a long illness and I was the one who told her to ask for 2 containers. I was surprised by the utter rudeness of the Owner but the restaurant was beautiful and had a lot of regulars and I can see why. They also have a store with crafty beach items for sale. My sister is a regular there and took me there. I don't know if the lady that waited on us is the Owner but she was dressed in regular clothes and not in a uniform like the other servers. read more

Tofu scramble with potatoes was delicious. Cup of Miso starter was good. For the vegan crowd, this is a must in St. Augustine for breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately we hit the Cafe late morning on a Sunday and got caught in the "church just let out crowd." Staff was swamped. Wait for a table for 2 was more than we had hoped. While polite enough, service was stretched. Food, when it finally arrived, made up for the wait and got them back to a 4 star experience. Will time our next visit to Manatee Cafe a little better ;) read more

10 out of 10. The noodle bowl was delicious and had the perfect amount of veggies. Would get it again and again! This was my second visit and just as good as the first. the tofu grilled cheese with avocado and sprouts was also amazing! Get the hash browns(home fries) as a side, you won't be disappointed! read more

This is one of the best places in town for vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten free deliciousness. And I will state that they have - hands-down - the best breakfast potatoes in town. We went on a Sunday morning around brunch time and didn't have to wait very long for a table for five - maybe 15 minutes. It was kind of strange, though: they originally sat us at a four-person table and then moved us to a five-person table once it opened. I would've rather just waited for the correct table from the get-go. I got some fresh orange juice, which was small but tasted great, and then I split a half-order of vegan pancakes (which come with fruit and syrup) and for myself I got the breakfast burrito with scrambled tofu and breakfast potatoes. I already raved about the potatoes but the scramble is also great - it's full of fresh vegetables and flavor and it's really filling. So for OJ, a pancake, and the breakfast burrito it came to $13. Not bad for a Sunday brunch. I kind of always forget it's here, since it's tucked into a strip mall, but I need to remember to come more often. read more

We were looking for a healthier breakfast option in St. Augustine and found the Manatee Café on Yelp! The restaurant was just what we were looking for! Fresh food, fresh ingredients, great flavor and healthy. The juice was nice and earthy with a hint of sweetness from the carrot. The breakfast burrito was perfection with a great combination of flavors. We also enjoyed the French toast and veggie scramble. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area! read more

This place is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the travel. Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten free options, and they all are super tasty. I had the vegie omelet (eggs, spinach, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, avocado, onions and salsa) and breakfast potatoes. Hubby had beans and rice burrito (sweet potatoes, black beans, rice avocado and sprouts) with hummus and chips. Every ingredient was fresh, and every dish was perfectly seasoned. The staff was more than friendly, they were worming and inviting. They were hustling around the little restaurant, but we never felt rushed and weren't waiting for long periods of time between table visits. Heard the coffee was good, so we grabbed a bag to go... so update on that later. read more

First time there for the French toast . For the price it was a child's portion . It was good . The people running are not very personable. No eye contact or how is everything . Asked for another refill on coffee 15 minutes later got it . It's a local place expected better . A waste of my walk there . read more

Ridiculously delicious. Last meal on the way out of St. Augustine and I can honestly say it's the best meal we had here while on vacation . Veggie burger with goat cheese was OUTSTANDING...great texture, I've never had such a crunchy and firm patty on yummy bread, often black bean burgers are mushy as F. Hubby had the Burrito #2 & enjoyed just as much. Highly recommend & wish we had a spot like this in Dunedin. read more

This was the worse breakfast I've had in a while , When I found this on yelp there was no mention of being an organic vegan gluten free restaurant. The food is actually kinda good. It's good for a day when you aren't sure what good place to go to. So far I would rate it a 6/10

Oh, YES! Heck, YES. How delighted was I to find out that St. Augustine boasts a dynamic and progressive dining option like the Manatee Cafe? VERY. As soon as we saw that they prepare their meals using only pure filtered water, source their food from certified organic companies whenever they can, and offer vegan and gluten-free options, our brunch option for Saturday was a no-brainer. Located in an obscure strip mall, the Manatee Cafe is a casual breakfast and lunch spot that supports the efforts to save the manatee from total extinction by contributing a portion of its proceeds to this very worthy cause. Dining for a cause y'all! We made it in around 11am, and the place was already packed so we had to wait around 10 minutes for a table to open up. During our dining experience, there was always a group or two waiting for a table so it appears the word is definitely out about this spot. I had a tough time choosing from the menu because I was curious to try several vegan dishes but I finally narrowed it down to the Vegetable Burrito ($8.75) which included a whole wheat tortilla, scrambled eggs OR tofu, hummus, cheese, sweet potato, onions, mushrooms, sprouts, avocado and salsa. You also get to enjoy a side item so I opted for the salad in lieu of the homefries or grits. Our server was helpful and delivered my kombucha quickly and our food came out in a jiffy. Prices were fair and our experience was solid. I would definitely come back here again if I happened to be in St. Augustine again. TIP: They offer carry-out here! read more

I visited Manatee Cafe for lunch with my boyfriend. I am vegan so I was really pleased with how many options there were and how flexible the menu was. I ordered the tofu salad with a side salad which was great but the real star for me was their basil vinaigrette. SO GOOD!! My boyfriend got the veggie omelette which was packed with veggies! I even picked up their cookbook before leaving. I would highly recommend Manatee Cafe! read more

This is our favorite place to have breakfast when visiting St Augustine!!! We started visiting St Augustine in the early 2000's and it immediately became a favorite for both breakfast and lunch. We are pescatarian (95% vegetarian) and the Manatee Cafe has been a favorite. We were there last week and I can truly say I walk away feeling energized, there are so many healthy ingredients added that it is an other world experience. I was at shopping at the St. Augustine Outlet and I wanted some juice. Whole Foods was too far but, I found a place called Manatee Cafe. Yelp has it rated 4.5/5 stars so that was a good sign. Then, I hit up their website. The Executive Chef attended Johnson and Wales Culinary School and worked at Disney....that was I all I needed to hear! Fruit bowl was amazeballs. There was Bananas, Kiwis, Apples, Oranges, Strawberries, Pineapples, Grapes, and Blueberries. This is what i'd want to be served if I was on a secluded island in paradise. I have tried the veggie fresh squeezed juice and you better be prepared cause it was an acquired taste....but I felt like I needed some healthiness ::shrugs Positive - -Super fresh organic ingredients -Cajun Chicken Pita is to die for! (Mix of white and dark chicken sautéed with onions, carrots, cabbage, tomato, sprouts and salsa served on pita with house dressing) -Cool blue walls and art -The presentation on the bananas with the french toast was beautiful, check out the pics Negative - -Service, stone faced rare smiles =( -Closed on New Years! I was devastated, but I understand =( If your St. Augustine this is spot to get a quick bite! I took a star away because the enthusiasm from the employees was lack luster. read more

I adored this place. We tried the red zinger iced tea and both enjoyed it. The menu was loaded with organic and locally-sourced ingredients. I had the tofu scramble with hashbrowns (which are actually more like home fries) and my friend had the breakfast burrito. The potatoes were a little too salty.. but that's my one and only complaint. They had vegan chocolate pie, but someone else got the last piece, so I settled for a cookie. They have a few hard-to-find veggie grocery items like veg cream cheese, etc. Staff was friendly; location is lacking, but it's great inside. I really liked the colors and paintings. I wish I had longer to stay- I'd have come back here every day. read more

Great food, healthy and no one missed the meat! It was a bit hard to find off SR16 in a strip mall, but we were glad we did! We were in town for a wedding and needed to find a good breakfast after a few days of Cracker Barrel, etc. The Manatee Cafe fit the bill exactly. My wife had the veggie omelette, which she described as divine! I went with the more standard two eggs over easy and hash browns, which are really more like home fries, but are really flavorful, surprisingly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside! My only criticism is that they may be a bit over salted. Our 11 year old son was more than satisfied with the spelt pancakes. All in all, it rivaled our favorite breakfast spot here in North County San Diego, Ki's. Two thumbs up! read more

A true local brunch/breakfast/lunch staple in St. Augustine! Every time we visit, the service is fast and friendly with a personal touch. The restaurant and restrooms are very clean and inviting. They recently replaced their seating within the past few months to include long bench style seating along the walls and nice quartz stone tables. I usually order the veggie wrap, which is very hearty. Today I opted for something lighter. The whole grain bagel with strawberry jam and an egg over medium were my choices. My husband got the Cajun chicken pita which had just the perfect amount of spice. He decided on the ever-popular home fries for his side. I also ordered a small carrot juice (a must if you like). It's always fresh-pressed made to order. Check out is diner style, so we went up to the register when we finished. They have an array of organic sweet treats to finish. I always get the Reed's ginger chew. Thank you for making us feel at home again and again, Manatee! read more

Manatee Cafe - My son loves the fruit salad & the manatee art - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Saint Augustine, Florida

Wow! Amazing food here at Manatee Cafe. It's located in a strip mall off of State Rd 16, very easy to find. When you walk in the door it's a mix of manatee art and various other paintings. Very unique. Hot wife and I had the pleasure of eating there this morning and we're so glad we did. Hot wife had the bagel sandwich with hummus, which came loaded with hummus, sprouts, avocado, sweet potato mash and tomato on a sprouted whole grain bagel. She loved it. I had a bite and I agree. I had the breakfast burrito with tofu and hash browns. It was presented well, more like a taco then a burrito but that just left the opportunity to appreciate the ingredients. Both of us had coffee which was good. The hot sauce on the tables was amazing as well. Had some heat to it, and some sweetness as well. I think that has to do with the type of peppers in the area, which at this time the name eludes me. The service was great. While we were there dining several locals came in as well. The server knew them by name and each had their regular breakfasts. Manatee Cafe is a great restaurant with quality ingredients and care put into the dishes. read more

This is MY breakfast (and now lunch, too) haunt. The breakfast burrito w/ tofu is phenomenal. So many healthy dishes. I've never been dissatisfied with any meal. Unlimited coffee, however the organic blend isn't equal to the food, but they offer soy and coconut milk for the coffee so I work it out. Update: I changed my rating to 5 stars cause it's really all about the food not the coffee. Everyone I bring here loves the food, even the non-veg lovers. read more

I LIVE FOR THIS PLACE! Jimmy is my favorite server! He's attentive, helpful, and just totally ROCKS!
