Egg Salad on a crescent roll with side salad
    Kathy K.

We had brunch lunch at this casual adorable restaurant in St. Augustine. Offering a great menu of organic ingredients and also serving Vegan, Vegetarian and gluten-free food. The interior has an eclectic feel with original artwork. I had the Egg Salad on a crescent roll and a side salad $10.50. It was so fresh and delicious and very affordable. I love the alfalfa sprouts and homemade dressing. The service was very friendly and efficient.

This isn't just "food", this is love on a plate. The quality of ingredients and the way they are prepared is extremely impressive! We need more restaurants like this in the world. After eating here you physically feel better. Avoiding seed oils and gluten are par for the course here! They can and will accommodate any dietary restrictions. I highly recommend the veggie pizza! I definitely will have to order that again. The wrap is also very amazing! I really wanna order their whole menu and come more often. This place is a blessing for those wanting healthy options when dining out. Wish there was a cafe like this in every city! Lots of quant artwork, upon entering. Please check the pics posted. The terrariums are amazing! I really wanted to bring one home.

Cajun chicken pita with chips and hummus

Split this with my girlfriend and we were both satisfied. Food was so fresh and healthy but still was packed with flavor. Chicken was tender and well seasoned and the sprouts add the best touch. I enjoyed the hummus as well, even though my girlfriend wasn't a huge fan of the texture. Might be our new routine lunch spot because it tastes great and makes you feel good too! The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were friendly too.

This was the best Breakfast Burrito I've ever had. The flavors were amazing and all the ingredients were so fresh. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and though we were there at 9am they said we could order off the lunch menu if we wanted. Honestly, everything sounded great and only wish we were staying in St. Augustine longer, but we will be back Burrito

Definitely try for a healthy on the lighter side breakfast. We were on our way to the beach and this was the perfect breakfast hidden gem. They have gluten-free options and dairy free options.

Super quiet today and first time here as well

The owners work here every day and are so attentive like family. They clearly have locals who frequent this location. It was our first time being here and we could feel the good vibes. Breakfast was super delish and came quickly. This is a white strip mall but there are some great finds -like Pampa for empanadas and La Nails. I love to get my nails and then lick up food to go afterward.

Vegan/Vegetarian options plentiful. Gluten free options on menu too. First time visiting and felt like we were definitely the "new" kids. Seated right away. Poor server running around like crazy! Felt a bit chaotic - but, he did a reasonable job keeping it all straight! It was a busy Friday morning! Omelette was large and quite tasty! GF French Toast good ... but definitely lacked in appearance. Coffee lukewarm at best ... Apple/Banana smoothie filling.

My boyfriend and I had lunch at Manatee yesterday. What an absolutely wonderful little place! Love the vibe! And then the food!!! The vegan food is so delicious and fresh!!! Well prepared. I had the grilled cheese with the hash browns and my boyfriend had the Reuben with chips and hummus. He called it a "happy meal". So true!!!! Service was friendly and prompt. I will be referring the Manatee to everyone!!! Thank you for vegan comfort food!!! #veganfortheanimals You are a gem!

    Excellent spicy cajun-style chicken pita
    Jasmine F.

3.5 rating. First visit to Manatee Cafe. Fresh food and outstanding service in a popular local gem. Sandwiches and salads seem popular. Soups look worth a try. Particularly good spot for vegans and vegetarians. Staff wore masks, and tables were spread out. Cajun Style Chicken: Mix of white and dark chicken sautéed with onions, carrots, cabbage, tomato, sprouts and salsa served on pita with house dressing (sides: blue corn chips and tabouli). * Excellent spicy cajun-style chicken pita. Plenty of fresh delicious fillings. * Excellent blue corn chips. Tasted fresh. * Good tabouli. Spelt-Flour Pancakes: stack of pancakes served with a medley of fruit or nuts and bananas. * Nice presentation. * I hadn't tried spelt flour pancakes before, and I didn't like them at all. They were not the traditional rich, fluffy, buttermilk pancakes I prefer. The odd flavor tasted like a combination of sourdough bread and unsweetened wheat bread, shaped in the form of small pancakes. Luckily, the syrup and fresh fruit were delicious and plentiful enough to cover up the odd spelt-flour flavor and texture. * Service was outstanding, so I'm certain that if I had asked to exchange the pancakes for something else, they would have happily obliged. * First cup of coffee seemed like it was from a sitting Bunn pot. The second was hot and delicious. Wishing they had an automatic coffee/espresso machine. * The rest of the breakfast menu is generally what one could prepare at home at lower cost.

The service showed a real lack of knowledge and attentiveness. When I ordered whole milk for my coffee, the response was essentially "is half and half okay?" -- no, it is absolutely not okay. These are completely different in taste and calories, and it's not a reasonable substitute to casually suggest. What made it worse: oat milk, almond milk, and whole milk were all visibly sitting in the fridge right there from where I was seated at the bar. Zero effort to offer what was clearly available. The atmosphere didn't help either. The space feels like someone started building a café concept and never finished thinking it through. It's uninviting, disorganized, and oddly off -- not warm, not designed with the customer in mind. Nothing about the food, the presentation, or the space gives you a reason to choose this place over anywhere else. Not particularly tasty, not nicely decorated, not a vibe. Not sure what keeps people coming back, honestly.

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

Antique, rustic, comfortable, and full of enough character that you almost feel like you've stepped 200 years back in time. Then the drinks arrive, and suddenly you realize you've been transported into the future of cocktails. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I ordered because it was spectacular. Whiskey, a little sweetness, mint, and crushed ice. That's about all I can tell you. What I can tell you is that I could have happily consumed about 30 of them, tumbled down the stairs, and been perfectly happy about the whole experience. My wife went with the Mojito, and it was brilliantly constructed. The crushed ice and layered mint made it look almost too good to drink. Almost. The drinks absolutely deserve five stars. Then came the blue crab beignets, and they were spectacular. That's the kind of appetizer that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying what's happening. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't quite live up to the cocktails. The fish dip was very average and lacked much flavor, and the menu itself felt pretty limited. So here's the deal: if you're coming to The Ice Plant for drinks, I would have no problem giving it five stars. The cocktails are that good. This is a highly recommended stop for a drink in St. Augustine. But I have to review the entire experience, and the limited menu and average fish dip bring the overall experience down a notch. Four stars. Come for the drinks. Stay for the atmosphere. Definitely order the blue crab beignets. And if you happen to find yourself three cocktails deep, admiring the antique decor while contemplating the stairs, maybe just take your time.
