They have an outdoor seating, I would love it if there was a heating lamp out there

My experience was so wonderful here. Alex, who works there was so supportive helping me go through the menu since it was my first time, making recommendations. He let me know about which oils and ingredients were in the different dishes. He was so patient and helpful. They have a digital menu where you can order. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I was limited in some choices because some of the dishes use canola oil. Alex did let me know that it is a high quality canola oil, but I don't prefer seed oils in my food. They had other great choices that were gluten-free as well. I chose a broccoli mushroom dish with rice. The ingredients tasted very fresh. And then as I was eating, Alex was so thoughtful to bring a signature hot sauce that they have so that I could add it to my food. It was such a delicious meal and the staff is so friendly and helpful. They have other dishes I would like to try next time And a lot of different gourmet drinks. They have seating inside and outside. Though it was a little chilly to eat outside. It would be nice if there were warming lamps outdoors. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I'm so grateful for Alex's support in the process of ordering ! The prices are a little high, but I always remind myself. We're in the Bay Area in California.. The bathroom was clean, the restaurant was clean.

My first time being here this past weekend. I didn't know what to expect. From the past every single time I passed by the restaurant was always busy. This time I don't know if it was because it was a Sunday, then there was not too many people. Almost empty you could say. The place of establishment was clean and well kept. Customer service was nice. Food wasn't didn't really had a wow factor for me. I'd like to give this place a try again, but what with all the extra added on fees I'm not so sure. It is good to try this place out at least once if you've never been before.

Ordered via Doordash for lunch. This is my 3rd time ordering at Mamahuhu, and overall, the food has been delicious. It's pricier (and smaller portioned) than other establishments serving asian food, but so far the dishes I've tried have been really tasty. I ordered the Lazi Chicken, Jasmine Rice (Large), and Snow Jasmine Tea Soda today. I am happy to say that the box of jasmine rice I received is larger than my last order. I can only assume that they packed the wrong size box of rice last time. The Lazi Chicken was perfectly seasoned and spiced. The chili oil drizzled was very flavorful. I opted to get the default spice level, and it left a comfortable, warm tingle on my lips after eating. l love the fact that it's still kinda crispy even after the dish has cooled. It was a very delectable and enjoyable dish. It makes you crave rice to eat with it. The snow jasmine tea soda was super refreshing and thirst-quenching! It was super floral but not in an overwhelming, cloying floral (think grandma's potpourri) way. This soda captured the essence and fragrance of freshly plucked jasmine flowers and tea leaves, combined with a gentle bubbly soda and mild neutral sweetness that elevated the tea's natural flavor, and created this mouth-watering beverage that leaves your breath smelling fresh. This soda was a delight to drink.

I love this restaurant and have tried almost everything on the menu by now (regretfully missed some of their limited time specials though). My top three are the Lazi Chicken (extremely good), the spicy pineapple bun chicken sandwich, and the "secret menu" capital curry chow mein. The jasmine tea soda is also worth calling out, very refreshing and not something you see everywhere, definitely recommend adding it to your order! The interior is really well done with a beautiful service counter, but seating inside is very limited. They do have a covered parklet outside, usually end up having to sit there when I go in person. Service is always great, and I appreciate that the owners make an effort to build community here. I believe they host mahjong nights and other local events. This is such a solid restaurant and I'm glad to see them growing and opening in Palo Alto too!

My friend recommended this place to me after hearing about how this restaurant also came from the restaurant owners of Mr. Jiu's. On a weekday evening, this restaurant was full, and we had to wait a bit to get indoor seating that we wanted. My friend and I shared their house special MSG chicken (where MSG stands for Mushroom Seaweed Garlic) and Broccoli & Beef house plate. The portion size was enough for two people, and we were fully able to finish the dishes. I loved the crispiness of the MSG chicken along with its seasoning, and the broccoli & beef dish had a great portion of veggies to beef. Although slightly oilier than what I would have wanted, Mamahuhu offered good dishes for my first time, and I'd love to try their other menu items sometime in the near future!

I've ordered from here multiple times on DoorDash. Food was great the first 2 times. This time? Stone cold and soup bowl was barely half full. Waste of $30. Must've been too close to closing? ‍

Lately I've been hooked on mapo tofu and have been on the hunt for the best one in SF. This spot gets a solid 7/10 from me. The spice level is great and definitely hits the spot, though it leans a little on the salty side. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and the tofu tasted fresh and good quality. Prices are reasonable and the portions are pretty generous. I'll definitely keep exploring other spots in the city, but this one satisfied the craving.

Boba Tea Oat Milk Soft Serve Sundae ($7)

Stopped by Mamahuhu with a few friends to see if we could join their Mahjong night - unfortunately it was extremely busy and we weren't able to find a table to sit down and play at. I loved the sense of community and how much fun everyone seemed to be having learning to play though! The interior is bright and colorful, and I feel like it'd be a great hangout spot. Boba Tea Oat Milk Soft Serve Sundae ($7): this was a great little sweet treat, and I liked the the boba was still soft and chewy. The oat milk soft serve has an underlying almost cinnamon-y taste to it, which was unexpected but quite pleasant. The other flavors that my friends got also looked pretty good and they seemed to enjoy it, so I'll definitely be back to give them a try if I happen to be in the area.

    Monday Mahjong Night

Came here for their Mahjong Mondays. It was a lot of fun meeting people and playing Mahjong. You place your order at the front and then bring the number to a table. They will bring the food out for you. There is a self service water area to the left of the register. The trash disposal and dish return is also there. We ordered the tomato garlic chow mein which was good but not consistent. I think the other dish was the sweet and sour chicken without rice. It was really good.

quick, flavorful bite! crispy sweet and sour chicken and love the tanginess to it! chicken sandwich wouldn't be my first choice but I could eat the sweet and sour chicken plate every day, haha. milk tea too was good way to cleanse palette

Chicken sandwich (spicy one) and non-spicy with hot and sour soup combos
    Lizzie S.

Love their spicy fried chicken sandwich and the combo meal combining that with hot and sour soup. This more casual outpost from Mr. Jiu's award-winning chef and SF native Brandon Jew is great for families and more everyday-meals. The chicken sandwich is juicy and served on great pineapple bread. It's unique and tasty. The hot and sour soup and mapo tofu dishes are solid, but I'd come here mainly for their chicken sandwich. Inside is bright and airy. They also partner with other local businesses--loved their Jewsian red bean black sesame babka they made and sold with Loquat in Hayes Valley.

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, this isn't it--but the entrees are fresh, good quality, and well-seasoned. I think some of the flavors threw me off from what I expected. The atmosphere is casual, cute, and clean, but the biggest downside is the seating. With only a handful of tables, you're either stuck waiting or fighting with others for an open seat. Hot and Sour Soup: 0/5 Beef and Broccoli: 4/5 Jasmine Tea Soda: 5/5 Sweet and Sour Chicken: 3.5/5

The burgers were very good, but kind of small. Better for a light snack when not super hungry vs. a meal. Very cute inside with decent amount of seating, and fast service. My friends that got the rice plates said the entrees were a little too salty for them.

She surprised me with a reservation at Ox + Tiger and I was immediately impressed. The restaurant only seats 8 people, making the whole experience super intimate and personal. When Japanese and Filipino flavors come together, you get such a unique fusion cuisine inspired by chef couple Ej and Hatomi. Dinner was more than just a meal it was a 2 to 2.5 hour storytelling experience about their menu creations, how they met, and the grind behind keeping their dream alive. The menu changes monthly, so even if I told you what we had, you probably wouldn't get the same dishes unless you book now lol. It's a 3-course menu with optional add-ons, and definitely unlike any restaurant I've been to before. As a Filipino, I'll admit I can be picky with Filipino-inspired food because we grow up spoiled by our parents' cooking but this? I was genuinely impressed. Think familiar flavors recreated in their own creative and elevated way. Highly recommend.

Situated in a small, 8 seat counter, dinner is intimate with dishes being prepared right in front of you. The menu features three courses, an appetizer, main, and a dessert - with the option for an additional add-on. Our meal featured a focus on fish, in particular mackerel and monkfish. Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. Additionally, with menus and playlists designed by family, this truly feels like the epitome of a family-run business and a meal cooked with so much care in front of you. This is absolutely worth a visit and an opportunity to try new flavors you've never experienced before.

Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.
