Mamahuhu is a gem that everyone should check out if you're in the area! The interior is beautifully decorated and provides a warm, community atmosphere where you can enjoy dining in. There is also Mahjong Mondays which I need to check out! They have a wonderful menu of Chinese dishes and you really can't go wrong with what you order. The service here is lovely and very kind. My friends and I decided to share the tingly spicy level chicken sandwich that comes with a pineapple bun. We were able to ask for the sauce on the side so that we can control the spice level. At the tables, there's also their house made MSG seasoning blend which is delicious and goes so well when you sprinkle it on the chicken. The spicy sauce really does give it that next level kick, while the pineapple bun provides a soft, pillowy and sweet combination. My experience was so wonderful here. Alex, who works there was so supportive helping me go through the menu since it was my first time, making recommendations. He let me know about which oils and ingredients were in the different dishes. He was so patient and helpful. They have a digital menu where you can order. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I was limited in some choices because some of the dishes use canola oil. Alex did let me know that it is a high quality canola oil, but I don't prefer seed oils in my food. They had other great choices that were gluten-free as well. I chose a broccoli mushroom dish with rice. The ingredients tasted very fresh. And then as I was eating, Alex was so thoughtful to bring a signature hot sauce that they have so that I could add it to my food. It was such a delicious meal and the staff is so friendly and helpful. They have other dishes I would like to try next time And a lot of different gourmet drinks. They have seating inside and outside. Though it was a little chilly to eat outside. It would be nice if there were warming lamps outdoors. This time I don't know if it was because it was a Sunday, then there was not too many people. Almost empty you could say. The place of establishment was clean and well kept. I ordered the Lazi Chicken, Jasmine Rice (Large), and Snow Jasmine Tea Soda today. I am happy to say that the box of jasmine rice I received is larger than my last order. I can only assume that they packed the wrong size box of rice last time. The Lazi Chicken was perfectly seasoned and spiced. The chili oil drizzled was very flavorful. I opted to get the default spice level, and it left a comfortable, warm tingle on my lips after eating. l love the fact that it's still kinda crispy even after the dish has cooled. It was a very delectable and enjoyable dish. It makes you crave rice to eat with it. The snow jasmine tea soda was super refreshing and thirst-quenching! It was super floral but not in an overwhelming, cloying floral (think grandma's potpourri) way. I love this restaurant and have tried almost everything on the menu by now (regretfully missed some of their limited time specials though). My top three are the Lazi Chicken (extremely good), the spicy pineapple bun chicken sandwich, and the "secret menu" capital curry chow mein. The jasmine tea soda is also worth calling out, very refreshing and not something you see everywhere, definitely recommend adding it to your order! The interior is really well done with a beautiful service counter, but seating inside is very limited. They do have a covered parklet outside, usually end up having to sit there when I go in person. Service is always great, and I appreciate that the owners make an effort to build community here. I believe they host mahjong nights and other local events. We've had Mamahuhu a few times, but we usually go to the location in the Inner Richmond, so this was our first time enjoying the Noe Valley spot. I'm happy to report that the food is just as delicious! We had the Lazi Chicken and Mapo Tofu and if you enjoy Sichuan food, these two dishes always hit. The Lazi Chicken looks intimidating because the chicken pieces are in a sea of bright red chilies, however the dish itself isn't too spicy unless you eat the chilies. It's a wonderful balance of that dried chili fragrance, Sichuan peppercorns, which contribute the slight numbing sensation, and sweetness. Only minor complaint is that there's no option for bone-in chicken, which is generally just much more flavorful and juicier. The Mapo is so savory and earthy from the fermented bean paste, with just a touch of heat and numbing Sichuan peppercorns, but is so delicious over rice. It also comes with a side of cucumers dressed in a sesame/tahini dressing which are nice and cooling when your mouth is feeling on fire. You can adjust the spice level to your liking as well, though we always get everything super spicy and it's never crazy spicy. The food is just consistently delicious and fresh at Mamahuhu so if you're on the fence about trying it, don't waste another minute and head on over! read more

Chicken sandwich tasted great, definitely had the spice I was hoping for, however it was on the smaller side (almost slider size) and I thought it was a bit overpriced. Noodles were a decent portion and in my opinion had the perfect amount of sauce. My friend thought the tomato flavor was overpowering and likened it to spaghetti and meatballs but I didn't get that taste at all. It's a really subtle flavor and is fresh from the bites of tomato. Tofu has great flavor and is the dish pairs really nicely. The tofu is cooked with minced pork in a spicy bean sauce. Definitely flavorful. The rice unfortunately was pretty dry. But it can be overlooked since it soaks up the sauce from the mapo tofu. AMBIANCE AND SERVICE You order your food at the counter and grab a number. The food is brought out to your table. Our food arrived pretty quickly which was a nice surprise. I like this place! Authentic Chinese with fresh ingredients go far in my book. I'm also open to fusion as long as it is done well. And Mamahuhu does it well. We ordered the Super Savory chicken sandwich, Mapo Tofu with pork, Broccoli and mushrooms, hot and sour soup, Sweet and Sour chicken. This was all served up family style to appease a table of 4, plus one unexpected friendly guest that suddenly showed up to join us. The Super savory sandwich was somehow satisfying. We split one into 4. Chinese food and sandwich are rarely combined in the same phrase so this was the fusion portion of our meal. The chicken was moist and crispy. And what made this is a beautiful visit was that I came dine here with two childhood friends, one of whom I hadn't seen in over 30 year. Even though dishes come out fast, they still taste very high quality and full of love. Even though you order your food at the counter and fill up your own water, servers do come around from time to time to check in and clear your tables of empty dishes. Think of the service almost like an Asian Souvla (haha). Jokes aside, this is a well rounded restaurant with good food, service and vibes. My only complaint is this location does not have enough seating (even with the outdoor seating). I came around 7pm on a Monday and it was PACKED.
